Attending a charity gala as the clan’s figurehead, Onegus is ready for the pesky socialites he’ll have a hard time keeping away. Instead, he encounters an intriguing beauty who won’t give him the time of day. Bad things happen when Cassandra gets all worked up, and given her fiery temper, the destructive power is difficult to tame. When she meets a gorgeous, cocky billionaire at a charity event, things just might start blowing up again.
I loved the part where Wendy’s mom was right under her nose. What a small world they share! My only wish is that the books could be slightly longer, it was much too short.
Cassy is a very interesting character, and i am loving the story and "sparks" between her and Onegus! I totally think her mom has a WAY more interesting story and i can't wait for it!!! And NEVER saw Margaret's story coming because i was so focused on everyone else!! Really enjoyed this book and am so glad i kept reading through the last few "main"characters stories! (They just weren't as interesting as the earlier characters to me) Still awaiting to see if the clan mother's mate resurfaces.... i have a strong feeling he will and it will be one of the last books!! Anyway HIGHLY recommend this series!!! It has kept me subscribed to kindle for two years now!!!
Unexpected developments!!! Unexpected moments and revelations!! Lots of laughter and yep even tears. The enjoyment factor was high with this one. Enjoyed all the individual love cabin stories weaved throughout the book. Maybe we should start keeping count. Lol Favorite quote from the book: “I have no reason to be afraid. Say it and believe it. She whispered it. I am surrounded by friends who care for me, protect me, and will not let anything happen to my daughter or me. Say it. This time around, her voice was a little above a whisper. Now say this. I am strong. I am a survivor, and I can handle anything life throws at me. Affirmations can be a powerful tool whether for good or evil purposes. Words are powerful. Period. Enjoy reading, it’s a fantastic book.
Dark Power Untamed is book 50 in the Children of the Gods series, and the first of the Dark Power trilogy. It is the story of Onegus and Cassandra.
This "power" couple is red hot. The story begins with two reluctant gala attendees; he is pretending to be billionaire on behalf of the Clan's charity and she is forced to go with her boss because his wife is busy. When these two get together the sparks are flying both figuratively and literally. In the subplot a small mystery is revealed. Five stars.
Stop making characters that are suppose to have above average intelligence idiots. 🤦🏽♀️ Onegus is the Chief Guardian of a military like police force and should be vigilant and attentive to detail than the average civilian. How in the hell could he not have realized the connection of things exploding, breaking, falling and Cassy’s energy flare when she was angry? I could see the first time him not realizing the connection, but since he actually made the connection then shrugged it off the second time should have solidified it.
But instead of solidifying it, he only made a mental note to “explore” his theory and then didn’t. And why is it he didn’t pick up on her energy flare with the lotion bottle? Or smell her tears like every other freaking immoral has done when he was giving her a massage?
Then there’s Bowen, a seasoned guardian who took forever to pick up clues in his situation with Margaret. Some of them were appropriately timed, but the big ones were not. And why didn’t he tell Eleanor to ask Emmett about what he compelled Margaret to do or not do when he had the thought that he had done something right before he called Eleanor and she immediately stated where she was? Made zero sense. I don’t even know why he would call Eleanor in the first place. That entire conversation was annoying because all she had was negative shit to say and trying to place doubts. It’s like she was jaded in yet another person finding their true love mate so she was trying to make it not be so.
Anyway, time to read what happens with Cassy and Margaret. I feel like Geraldine is a witch or something and her book clubs are coven meetings. Either that or she was turned like Eva, but whomever did it messed up the thrall and caused memory loss? Or maybe she was thralled multiple times, being kept by an ex doomer for awhile and him not realizing what it does to someone?
See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
Creative Director Cassandra has a paranormal ability and a spicy attitude. Lead Guardian Onegus, is attending a gala put on by her company to raise funds for a cause important to the clan.
"Emmet is not a bad guy." Anyone who drugs women to use them as their sex slaves is a bad guy. And the Lead Guardian needs to understand this. And Kian, and now Richard. I am sick of clan men defending Emmett by saying he is not a bad guy. Yes, he is. And if Kian allows him to join the clan, it will completely change my opinion of him. It will plummet. And I love Kian.
While Bowen and Margaret begin to pursue this 'pull' between them, I do not understand his attraction to her. It is absurd to pretend Emmett is still overseeing Safe Haven, that he is "projecting his awesomeness." Are you high? I cannot believe Bowen buys into this bullshit nonsense she is spewing.
Another secondary storyline centers on Vlad and Richard visiting Wendy's father, wanting to question him about her mother's death. On one page, Milwaukee is mentioned and the next Minneapolis, so which is it? The three of them can only be in one place.
I do not like. Emmett. I do not trust him. I did not like the Safe Haven storyline. I do not care for Anastasia. She is too bossy and has does nothing to earn her keep. I do not understand Bowen's pull to Margaret. She is too timid, is still infatuated with Emmett, and Bowen deserves better. I do not trust Eleanor with Emmett. She is also too attracted to him and he will charm her, use her for information and his freedom and then betray her and place the clan in danger. All I need is more books with Emmett. Fates, please, no. Just put him in stasis already.
The book count for this series may seem daunting since this is the 50th book, thankfully the way IT Lucas organizes the series is by having the books are set in 3-4 books in a mini-series that revolves around a main couple. There are often side characters & couples that you will see develop along side the main couple. The series does have an overarching storyline that continues through all the books so it is best to read them in order. These books are also told from the POV of multiple individuals, even many of the side characters or members of previous highlighted coupled. Each chapter clearly identifies who is telling their story so it is easy to follow.
This book is the start of Onegus and Cassandra’s story. I am so glad that our head guardian is finally getting his story told. We have previously seen Onegus many times, but it was really nice to get inside his head as I don’t think we have had a chapter from his POV before. I love Cassandra, that girl has a lot of fire in her and I really can’t wait to see where her character arch will go. The ending left me wanting more and I definitely can’t wait for the next book!
Dark Power Untamed KU 318 pgs **** 9/3/21 Onegus & Cassandra
4 stars. Cassandra is a strong, independent woman that challenges Onegus and he loves it. They had instant chemistry. She lays out her rules for dating from the first meeting and Onegus is only happy to tick each rule off to spend more time with her. We met Cassandra back during the Jin & Mae books, modeling. She is now the VP of that company and doesn’t do modeling and never like it in the first place. Bowen and Margaret finally go on a date. She is still so down on herself that it gets a little old hearing how she thinks she is not pretty, not interesting etc.. Evelyn and Peter get good news. Evelyn wants to see Emmett, she thinks they may have some unfinished business, especially since Gregory dumped her in the last book because she allowed Emmett to drink her blood and couldn’t say she didn’t like it. Good things happen for Margaret and Bowen as well as Vlad and Wendy. This book was pack full of clans people and humans and was a good read.
Like all of her books it was a pretty good read. but I do not like Cassandra, the lead female in this book she gets on my nerves. I am a black woman and Cassandra is the bi-racial female (her father's black and mother is white) lead in this story and she was nerve wracking. She is bitter and sarcastic, argumentative. Her story covers books 50-53. And I just could not stand her. I just finished book 54 and she has not changed she even argued with The Goddess (AKA )The Clan Mother, whose the head of this particular group of immortals, and it was a dumb argument she started with the The Goddess. I am fed up with her. I dread every time she has a segment in the stories. I enjoy these books I have from the very first one I read. I am giving 5 stars even tho i cannot stand Cassandra.
We finally get to look deeper into Onegus. He sets his sights on Cassandra and she is a very tough cookie. She is independent, strong and seems to have some type of power that comes out with her emotions of anger. I wonder if she is a witch of some kind. Her mother is interesting because it seems that she doesn't age and is forgetful. Could she also be a new type of immortal? Cassandra is really putting Onegus through tests and he is doing everything he can to pass each one. Vlad and Richard take a trip in search of answers about Wendy's mother. Bowen and Margret get closer but neither is ready to admit their feelings yet. Happy endings are always great. Overall, another great read. Looking forward to the next installment.
Cassandra is the most fascinating character since Eva (my favorite). She is beautiful with "spice latte skin" and some kind of uncontrolled energy. Cassy has a temper and "bad things happen when she gets angry." Onegus is attracted to her and intrigued by her mysterious energy. Also interested in the background of Cassy's mother. Could she be an immortal? Kudos for giving Margaret her HEA by reuniting with Wendy, who turns out to be her long lost daughter (well done). Bravo also for creating another character of color like Mey and Jin. Looking forward to Book 51 and appreciate Ms Lucas' awesome writing skills.
I liked the characters in the book but thought the conversation wasn't natural. Too there were way too many different perspectives to read from in the book and it detracted from the story of Cassandra and Onegus which is what I really wanted to read. It's intertwined with other stories and the few chapters focused on the main characters were lacking. Perhaps it's because this is book 50 and I've only read a couple but I couldn't appreciate it.
Dark Power Untamed was such a great read i finished this chapter in less than a day. The sad story of Margaret had me in tears and the reconciliation with her daughter were happy tears. Onegus deserves to be just as happy as the rest of the guardians and Cassandra has opened his heart. I can’t wait to read the next chapter. I. T. Lucas, your books are an incredible read and I just can’t put the books down. Thank you for you wonderful imagination. You brought all the immortals to life and it’s fantastic!
Hmmm...nothing has changed since I stopped reading this series and picked it back up with this book. Not sure if that's good or bad in my world....LOL. Cassandra is too hard on dudes and that's annoying I'm sure for the guys. Don't let the past dictate the future. Enjoy life, it's not too bad. I also understand that Cassandra don't want to compromise her standards and for that she is right. Somewhere she is going to lower them and get the man she needs to treat her like the goddess she is.
Onegus, chief guardian plays the part of Kian the billionaire to raise money for their charity.
While at the function he meets Kevin one of their contributionaires who happens to bring along the former model for their make-up brand, she stirs something in Onegus that has never been stirred before I'm gonna keep my fingers x'd he gets his HEA he deserves it.
Bowen uncovers his "one" that ties Vlad & Wendy's story together with a nice big bow
Can't wait to read what unfurls in the next instalment
The story just keeps getting better and better. Two people meet at a gala they both didn't want to attend. First sight and despite not wanting to... they can't stop thinking about each other. Can't wait to see how things progress in the next book. The author weaves other stories of other people throughout the book. Making them very interesting and hard to put down. This is book 50 and I can't wait until 51 :-)
I like the continuity, however this book was not of the same caliber of the others. The author seem to have toned down the drama, excitement and the need to finish the book in one sitting and I am disappointed. The story and the adventures of this clan still fascinates me and I love all the good that Ananni and her family do for the betterment of the world. Therefore, I continue with reading the series
I didn't think this series could get any better. I.T. Lucas just keeps making each book better that the last. I hope this series never ends. If you haven't read this series, it is a must read. I've said in almost every review that I hope the time comes when Ananni gets her HEA. I don't want to give too much away but I will say this. You will learn everything about Wendy's past and its great.
Dark Power Untamed Bk50 by I T Lucas. Got the book last night, finished it tonight and have already pre-order Bk51. After 50 books the story is a bit difficult to tell briefly. A family of immortals that are headed by a 5000 goddess doesn't even begin to tell the story. I highly recommend everyone to read the series.
I can’t believe we are on book 50 and the story still has me begging for more!! I have loved this series since first reading Syssi and Kians story! I love love love the new characters in this installment, the answers to some in answered questions, and Cassie’s relationship with Onegus! Can’t wait to see how their story progresses.
Yes!! Loving this book. There was soooo much drama happening! So many twists and turns. And the fates are such sneaky little.... fates. Lol. Love all the different perspectives in this book. Eleanor, Bowen, Margret, Kian, Onegus, Cassandra. Can’t wait for the next book
I just love every book, every new character.. always some new plot revealed. I did not expect the ending regarding Margaret, but so happy. I have my own suspicion regarding Cassandra's mom, and I hope I'm right. Can not wait for the next books.. always worth reading 📚
I absolutely adore this couple and their story. I think they are so relatible and have great banter. Besides, everyone loves a strong female character!
I can't get enough of this series even after the 50th book, and count down the days to the next release! I.T Lucas is amazingly talented.
The Fates seem to be weaving together some important threads for some of the immortals in the most unexpected way! Anastasia’s best friend is Bowen’s potential mate and is also a key person to someone else in the clan. Onegus has fallen for a lovely spitfire of a woman whose insecurities make her pretty demanding. The book is Chock full of surprises!
Poor Margaret I feel like I read that before somehow I knew where it was going I have read this series before but only to about 45 books in so I started at the beginning and have been reading back to back I thought I catched up to where I was did not remember Leon and ana.I must admit I'm starting to get a little bored now.
You are the best author. I love this series and all the detail about the characters.the only negative is that the books end too quickly...Fabulous. please keep up the fantastic story of the clan and doomers
Loved that the author always manages to intertwine stories perfectly. I did not see the surprise in this book coming but loved the connection! Looking forward to see what develops going forward with the wedding and the clan going to China.
This book alternates between several different couples finding their mates. I’ve always liked Bowen and Onegus as characters in other books and think the interesting things going regarding Wendy are a good addition to the series. I like the fates interventions.
I just started this book today and read in one sitting. This is what happens every time I get the new book. I'm so stoked for the next chapter. So much going on and it only gets better. I also am wishing for more of Annani's story.
I truly enjoyed the 50 books. I am so addicted to them. These books are evolutions of growing families, of love, anxiety and other emotions. These books are a must read.
