Graeme Garrard is a writer and academic at Cardiff University (UK) where he teaches political philosophy and intellectual history. He is the author of Rousseau's Counter-Enlightenment (2003), Counter-Enlightenments: From the Eighteenth Century to the Present (2006), (with co-author James Murphy) How to Think Politically: Sages, Sceptics and Statesmen Whose Ideas Have Shaped the World (2019) and The Return of the State: And Why It Is Essential For Our Health, Wealth and Happiness (2022).
