Hello!
Thank you for stopping by.
The short story is I was born in Toronto, Canada. When I was 16, my family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and that is where I met my wife, Bev.
We've been married for 43 years and share our home in Southwest Missouri with 4 dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens, a herd of goats. We have 3 sons and 12 grandchildren that keep us hopping.
I've been known to ride my motorcycle in nice weather, play golf in nice weather, and tend my garden in nice weather. In bad weather, I prefer to stay inside. :)
Thanks to the support of you, our readers, I've been able to devote full time to my writing. Bev does our cover designs.
We hope you our books are enjoyable and you'll let us know.
Please feel free to contact us at: jdalglish7@gmail.com or on Facebook
God Bless, John & Bev

I wish there were more series like The City Murder

I seldom give 5 starts since in Goodreads rating system that means it was ‘amazing.’ Few things in my life are amazing. My wife, a couple of close friends and a good Thai Fried Rice or Indian Tikka Masala and of course ice cream, but a book?

But City Murders is refreshing, no sex, profanity, unnecessary violence and gore. For the most part all the main characters have civil relationships, no hateful ones, etc.

And the plots are captivating, not a lot of fill, describing someone’s appearance down to their shoes, the kitchen cabinets, couch pillows, etc.

I like the the to the point dialogue, a little bit cheesy stuff, but I liked Phoenix Homicide as a story and with all the above I felt it was worthy of a rare 5 star amazing rating.

Before reading Phoenix Homicide (book 10), I read two other books written by John C. Dalglish: Santa Fe Homicide (book 12) and Desperate Measures. I gave both of them 5 stars. Phoenix Homicide earns 5 stars from me also. It is a very entertaining mystery. I was hooked from the very beginning--the murder victim's name is Linda (same as mine), she is a retired schoolteacher (like me), she is a senior citizen who lives alone (like me) and she drives a Honda (like me). So right from the start I could really relate to the victim in the story. The author's writing has a good flow to it and I kept turning the pages to see what happened next as Detective Tony Fernandez worked on solving the case. I also liked the secondary characters in the book. Their descriptions made them easy to imagine. The two City Murders books that I've read have been very entertaining and I look forward to reading the other books in the series.

This is another great clean murder mystery, that keeps you guessing right up to the end. Detective Tony Fernandez is tasked with finding Linda Carlson’s brutal killer but there is little that makes sense and a perplexing list of connections to sort through. I loved the extra family bits mixed in this story, it adds depth to the character and makes you like them all the more. The narrator did his usual excellent job of narrating this book, he brought out the sense of urgency and intrigue and gave the characters life. Entertaining clean fiction that keeps your attention, is enjoyable and easy to listen to.

Another Exciting Read!

Another enjoyable and entertaining story in the City Murders series. Meticulous police work, likable finely drawn characters and an interesting precept. Detective Fernandez reminded me of a very dear friend who is a retired police officer, a great dad who cares about his family, and he calls his daughter Pumpkin which is my nickname for my granddaughter. All in all another satisfying read!

3.5

A quick enjoyable read. It reminded me of Sargent Friday, “just the fact, ma’am.” I periodically return to this author for a quick clearing of the mind after reading some low-level indies.
