Carol lives on a property outside the small country town of Childers in Queensland, Australia. Married with three grownup children, she is now retired from working in a primary school. Most of her life Carol has played bass guitar in a four-piece band with her husband. They have now formed a duo after the band folded. Carol loves to travel, both abroad and in Australia, which she is now discovering more of in her caravan. Carol began writing in the 1980’s. At the time, there were no known heroines so she was inspired to create Detective Billie McCoy, a member of an elite undercover squad intent on bringing her enemies to justice. It wasn’t until years later Carol decided to publish. She has written eleven books in total . . . so far. The series includes standalone books as well as sequels.
The characters are great and well developed and the relationships between them evolve throughout. The main character seems like a cross between James Bond and John Wayne, but female, which I find very refreshing. There is action waiting around every corner and bad guys coming out of the woodwork! A couple of helpful souls help to balance that out somewhat. But you ask yourself just how could anyone be THAT unlucky?
