Dude, if you have to treat your GF like she’s a child you can’t touch when you are almost thirty, then maybe you should take a hard look at your choice to date a minor! ‘Waiting’ until she’s graduated is creepy and so is sending her to bed early so the adults (which includes you) can have fun is so not how a healthy relationship works. I swear, the author put in this ridiculous age gap to cockblock the characters but it’s really unsavory and turns the ML into a predator.

I know we only have 2 more volumes after this one, but I am really loving the journey of this series! It's been so lovely! The relationship took a very important step in this volume, and I am looking forward to how the next 2 volumes are going to go!

This manga has really sped up with plots and involving the whole cast of characters which is making it so much better. Ryo and his cat are still my fav. But I am enjoying Ken and Asako’s journey. God I wish I could really let go the age gap. I know it’s not a big deal in Japan but …. They seriously say shit like “grown ups” about everyone but her… like she is a child! I guess at least this is a “sweet” romance with a few inappropriate fall moments.

I was NOT expecting that to happen, but it’ll definitely make the last two volumes super interesting! Especially because of the advice one of the love interests got 👀

I’m also looking forward to seeing how this side romance forms—I just want all of them to be happy!

Also, loved the uncle being a guess start in the bonus pages lol.

Happy reading!

Mon avis complet : https://bloggalleane.blogspot.com/202...

This was kind of a weird volume. We still have two more til the end of the series, but for some reason this is the one where Matsunaga-san gets around to moving out (starting up his own home-office space), so most of the volume is an odd compilation-farewell to him.

They didn't freak out this much when Hattori got married and moved out, and they still see her; I doubt Matsunaga-san moved that far away, either? But I guess since the title is "Living-Room Matsunaga-san" and he's no longer going to be spending all his time in the boarding house's living room, Iwashita felt like this needed to be some sort of super extended goodbye?

Some of it's nice - I liked Ryo talking about how Matsunaga-san feels like such a big brother to him, and I've always enjoyed the close friendship between Ken and Matsunaga-san, so it was cute to see how that started. (By Ken feeding feral jobless Matsunaga-san when he was still stuck in his angry, self-destructive stage.) It's also sweet that Meeko's uncle let Matsunaga-san stay in the house for free until he was able to find a new job. He's always kind of been a part of the family, in an unusual way.

But there were too many "let's flash back to memories of all the good times we had together" scenes, which felt even more unnecessary and repetitive because I've been binging this whole series over the weekend. I don't want to see a filler clip show episode! Meeko and Matsunaga-san just started dating, and there was all kinds of really great stuff in the previous volume, which made the grinding-to-a-halt in this one a lot more disappointing.

Meeko and Matsunaga-san did have a few cute moments together, but some of the other parts were either super rushed (Matsunaga-san's ex is just gonna head back to New York now, no big deal, she just blew into town to be rejected I guess) or oddly timed (the whole deal with Ken and Asako, which I was looking forward to).

And I...honestly couldn't really understand what was going on with Ken's advice to Ryo. Ryo had asked a good question - how do you make yourself shut down your feelings for someone when you know they're not helping anyone - and Ken's line was, "Being evil isn't such a bad idea, is it?"

...What? What does that mean? (And why was a half-naked Ken stroking Ryo's lower lip like that? It actually could've been interesting if Ryo had turned out to be gay, like he'd denied early on, but that would've made this a different sort of story.)

I hope there isn't going to be any weirdness with Ryo trying to take advantage of the situation now that Meeko's sad about Matsunaga-san not living with her anymore. It wouldn't be like him, and it'd create some unnecessary drama that would throw the story off course. But I suppose we'll see. I just found that scene really out of place and confusing...it almost felt like a bad translation.

So yeah, a few good moments in this one, but overall kind of disappointing, especially considering how great Volume 8 was. I hope 10 picks up again, now that we've gotten the goodbye party for Matsunaga-san out of the way. (It is super cute how excited Matsunaga-san gets about parties, even when he pretends he doesn't want them. It adds more layers of likability to him.)

So incredibly sweet. I just adore this manga.

Matsunaga is leaving the house! Everyone is sad (including me). They are getting another roommate, Hattori’s sister, but that doesn’t make this any better.

Ryo, is still conflicted over his feelings. He is dreaming about her. He keeps talking to her in quiet moments. Kentaro gives him the advice to keep trying (though I’m not sure if he knows who Ryo likes)

Oh, Kentaro and Askako decide to try kissing each other, she lies and says she felt nothing, but Kentaro is honest saying it excited him, but he accepts she feels nothing for him. It’s sad, because she is denying her feelings out of fear. She’s scared because her ex-husband cheated on her.
There’s some reminiscing about Matsunaga’s presence in the house, as everyone is sad about him leaving. It’s obvious they all really love him, and don’t want him to leave, but it’s a step forward for his career, so they are supportive.

They throw him a surprise going away party, which he loves, but it’s bittersweet. They are all wearing hoodies, they say I🖤 MJ on them.

There are some really great moments in this one:

Meeko and Matsunaga go visit a shrine for New Year’s, and they run into a magazine editor who wants to hire him. Meeko goes to leave to give them some time to talk work stuff, but he grabs her hand and says, “stay here.”

Meeko asks Matsunaga if she can do anything she wants to him for 10 seconds. He says not till graduation, but she says it won’t be anything more than the kiss on the forehead. He agrees, saying, “Do want you want with me...for ten seconds, Meeko.” She then wraps her arms around his neck and holds him and says some things about wanting to be there for him. Afterward, he thanks her and then says, “that was way more than ten seconds.”

When they are in his bedroom and Meeko gives him an “air hug” saying she really wants to touch him, but she can’t. He says he feels the same way, and that he wants more. Then suddenly he’s on top of her on the bed. They are face to face, but they don’t kiss, yet it’s very intimate. Then he rolls off of her and says it’s too bad he can't transform into a high school student real quick. Then he tells her to go to bed,

When Asako says that Meeko and Matsunaga probably think of each other as brother and sister, and Kentaro tells her they are a couple, and that she couldn’t be more oblivious.

Meeko and Matsunaga go to the roof after his party and stay up till sunrise together talking and reminiscing.

Meeko sees him off alone the day he leaves, and he turns around right before he leaves and kisses her. It’s perfect. But then she immediately breaks down after he leaves, and Ryo is there to comfort her.

A few days later, Matsunaga accosts Meeko from the street and pulls her into a car. He says that they are going to his place, and then he gives her a key to his place. It says, “I want to be with you,” engraved on it. (That’s how it ends)

***Whole Series Review***

It’s not perfect by any means. There is a very large age between the Meeko and her love interest. Which isn’t bad... but she’s underage; in high school. He’s a grown adult.

That part really messed with my head, but I tried to remember that not only was it fiction, but other cultures differ from ours and have different standards for things. So I let it go. It wasn’t like they were having sex... he barely even kissed her and told her they wouldn’t even officially together until she graduated high school. So I mean... that’s good...

Moving on!

The art is simple and beautiful! I love everything looks realistic, nothing crazy as seen in a lot Shonen manga. I like that! I always prefer more Shojo styles. They are softer and more romantic.

This series is very slow moving between our two main characters, so to make up for this, we get little side plots between other characters that live in the boarding house and I really enjoyed these! I fell in love with these characters and it hurt when they finally moved out of the house. I felt Meeko’s pain at being left behind.

The mangaka did such a great job at making these characters feel real and I loved Meeko got to see that even though they are all adults; they don’t have their shit together like teenagers often assume.

This is a cute manga that hooked me. I couldn’t stop reading. I still feel that Ryo-ken deserved better than what we got, but not all endings can be happy, I guess.

If you like manga, or are thinking about diving in, this is easy to adjust to and sweet as can be.

Wow, entusiasmo a pacchi...

I cried… ofc I cried! How can it be “living room masanaga-san” when he’s not living in the share house anymore???

Though I am very interested to see where things will go now. He gave her a key as a kind of promise, but I wonder if he’s going to be too busy now to spend much time with her and if that’ll put a strain on their relationship.

I also wonder if Hojo will move in on her. Maybe not even wigh ill intent (as Ken suggested he do), but simply bc he’s there and Masanaga isn’t. Not to mention they’re closer in age.

I also suspect that editor may make Milo jealous, even if MJ isn’t interested in her at all in that way…..

And with this, I finish my challenge of 175 books for 2021! I would have liked to try to make 200, but I suspect I’ll be “reading” via VNs for the rest of the year more or less….

This series is just going downhill for me. No particular reason why, it just doesn't get me excited like it once did. Art is still gorgeous and there's a good message but the fact that this is happening while she's still in high school is wiggin me out a bit and I don't believe it's a bad much less sad thing that Matsunaga moves out. If I started a relationship someone I was living with I would immediately move out because according to Rosenfeld & Roesler (2019) and literally just universal facts, cohabitating couples have an exponentially higher divorce rate than couples that live separate before marriage soooooo I'm just sayin'...

Noiosetto.

Matsunaga is offered a new online designer job and decides to take it. Unbeknownst to Meeko, he announces he will be leaving the boarding house and finding a new place to live with an in home office. Asako and Ken-chan decide to test a theory about their feelings, and it changes their friendship going forward.

I really liked the going away party the house threw for Matsunaga and the way the relationships are evolving in the house. I hope Asako and Ken-chan find their happiness soon and come clean on how they feel about the other. Ryo was more in the background in volume 9 but with Matsunaga leaving Meeko behind, I'm curious how Ryo will go about things.

One of the first age gap mangas I read and I love it so so so much! Not only is the main lead super cute (and totally my type lol) but he wasn’t toxic and pushy with the main girl as well. It’s a very slow paced coming of youth type romance! The main girl lives with a lot of adults but they all become her like her older siblings and it’s really nice to see all their friendships mature as well since most romance mangas tend to focus on only the main couple. Overall it’s just super duper cute and something romance lovers should read for sure!
