Just when you think you understand life, an elf throws you a curveball. Zaena has to deal with a recalcitrant elf who won't listen to reason and doesn't care about his people or hers. He is out for himself.Unfortunately for him, his gang headquarters is smack-dab on top of a location Zaena needs. To further complicate matters, the gang wars in San Francisco have attracted the attention of humans who might know too much for Zaena's safety. Will she be able to negotiate her way out of this situation with words or power?
The book lived up to it’s title. It certainly was explosive. It was also a good read. Totally enjoying this series. Watching Zaena figuring out this world is still making me smile. Good development of the characters. Plenty of action. My only concern is that Zaena still has a lot to accomplish and we are through book 3. Hopefully the series will expand to 5 or 6 books. Recommended.
Zaena is trying to figure out how to take down Wong without collateral damage. She finds more allies and making contact with the government. Will she be able to survive the traps that Wong has set for her in his magical lair? I enjoy her dealing with the unfamiliar idioms of American culture. The reactions of others to her beauty and royal aura are fun to watch. I like the action, humor and Machinations. I look forward to the next book.
Zaena wants to take on Mark Wong, the wood elf who is the leader of the triad, the Demon Overlords. The main reason being that he has control of the Nexus but also because he is power hungry and doesn’t care who he hurts. He’s not interested in helping his own Wood Elf tribe let alone the rest of the elves. He deserves justice, as Zaena would say. As Karl says though, they need more people to get the job done but where will they get them from?
Neat idea. Women of the Anderle universe be nice or be anhillated.
Another excellent story but a little predictable. That is mainly because I have read SO many of your books. I like the characters including the Princess but she is a little one dimensional. Nice story line good plot development. This story line has awsome potential and is a great read for real.
Although Bethany Anne and Pandora have to be the top picks, this heroine is fun and growing as she learns about humanity while trying to save all of Elvenkind. I look forward to seeing her group expand as she deals with greedy humans and the mysteries of the other Elven tribes.
Zaena is an elf who is fighting for good and also trying to get a cure so that elves can live with humans. I really enjoy the action and humor in these books and the way Zaena is still getting used to the idioms that we use. The storyline and the characters are really good and I cannot wait for the next book.
1 is the number of elfvish princesses ,that inhabit the known Earth. Love is what I feel for this character, I have been for ever looking to find a heroine With the type of ethics and heart I am sure humanity has been searching for.
Naive but powerful.... This is such a twist on on your typical super hero! And a different kind of Elven Princess... This gal works for it!! Howard S (the S stands for Super Fan)
It seems like this book took forever to finish. I am not a fan of all powerful heroes or villains but previous books were fun. This was ponderous. I suspect the next books may get better.
Things finally heat up in the action front and we get to see some proper fighting and magic. The overall vigilante and protector sense also comes through better as well leaving plenty of other books to bring more saving the days ahead.
The first book in this series was a promising start. However the second book was rather meh. Fortunately this, the third, one is a big improvement of the last one.
I do quite like Zaena and her kick-ass attitude. Her overly comical ignorance of humans and human behavior is also toned down a bit in this book which is a relief.
The books starts off a bit on the slow side. The first half of the book is a lot of talk between various characters which, at the half way mark, started to become a bit boring actually. After that things started to get more interesting.
Once thing that I liked about the book is that Zaena is actually getting some human allies. Not just new friends from the neighborhood but allies in the various organizations with letter acronyms that no one is supposed to know about.
I also liked that this book brought the story arc with this annoying elf bad guy to its conclusion. As the book title hints, said conclusion is of the rather explosive variety. There’s plenty of nice action in the latter parts of the book.
Now with Zaena, hopefully, able to acquire access to the nexus to use as some form of headquarter and new allies and friends in secret and not so secret government organizations I’m hoping that there will be a new story arc taking off from here. One where Zaena will “solve” new problems in a more official capacity but with her usual, shot first, shot some more and then, maybe, ask some questions, attitude.
Explosive Negotiations gives us a different view on Zaena's capacities. It's nice to see her starting to develop a bit: although in many ways she remains the naive princess throughout the series, never losing her big heart and her faith in people, she also gets to be a bit more skilled in solving problems without resorting to magic immediately. It's those negotiations that set this book apart from the series so far.
Back with Zaena, and finally things are moving. I like that she is finally in a position where she understands better what is going on, and is more proactive, sometimes I feel like Karl is over cautious and is holding her back, but not in this case. I feel like it's taking longer than it should, but we finally get the confrontation we wanted.
We have more characters involved in this book, and it feels like things are even more complicated than we initially thought. I feel like the new characters are going to become really relevant in the next books, and that our characters are going to be facing more complicated situations.
I have to say that I love Zaena's growth and her relationship with Karl and Grace. Grace has always been on her side, but I feel like Karl is finally thinking of her as a friends, and not only an asset. They are the best team out there and I like how they look for each other.
This was get another good story about good versus evil. You can't get much more basic than that. I enjoyed this book, very much. The main characters are believable, and endearing. The plot is simple, stop the bad guys and restore order. I highly recommend this book and the series.
