The Complete Book of Magical Names

Rate this book
Here is the only lexicon of non-Christian names and their meanings in print. Written from a Wiccan perspective by a Wiccan priestess, this book contains nearly 5,000 names taken from modern and ancient sources: nature, mythology, history, fantasy literature, magical places, and faraway lands. Names are indexed alphabetically and by the characteristics they invoke for ease of use. Select a name that reflects who you truly are.

This book is quite annoying and not user friendly. One of my least favourite books of all time. It has a lot of interesting names but is poorly laid out. Good concept but poorly executed. It's just a headache. I would not recommend this book. Hopefully the author has a better editor for their other works. I would not buy another book by this author again.

NOT an ordinary book of names and definitely not just a listing of names. This book goes into the history of where and why Westerners use the names we do and helps open the mind to new possibilities for meaningful names.

If it were laid out better and if some of the content were more accurate, I would have given it a better rating. It has a nice selection of lesser known names but given its inaccuracies, I found it hard to give it more than a 2.

Not only informative and a great reference, but also very entertaining with the background information on some names. Great for pagans, writers, or if you just feel like calling your kid Widdershins ;-)

An absolute gem of a name book. Highly readable & engaging, and full of fascinating history of both nomenclature and religion.

I'm a writer so I have quite the collection of Baby Names books and this one is one of my big go tos. It's a fine resource, but it definitely could have been laid out to make it easier to use.
