But why? Because the elders have forbidden singing out of fear that songs will call the wild beasts with teeth and claws and no manners of all.
In the dark, the people hear the roars of the animals and are terrified. All except a little girl named Fulki who has a secret. She has made friends with a tiger. The tiger and Fulki sing a beautiful song together in the hopes of bringing back the moon but all seems lost when the tiger is captured.
This lush and lyrical picture book is meant to be read aloud with rhythmic language and onomatopoeia. In fact, you may be tempted to sing as you read.
The illustrations are done with sherbet colors and have a distinct vintage feel. MOONSONG has a classic fairy tale feel that that will transport you to another time and place.

I love the illustrations in this book. Turning the pages I feel transported to a magical place and time. Even children who are not yet independent readers will enjoy the vivid images and imaginative journey.

A magical tale paired with gorgeous illustrations! My son gave it 10 out of 10. 10 for story, 10 for art style, 10 for creativity! If you are looking for a unique picture book, Denise Gallagher’s Moonsong: A Musical Tale of Magical Friendships is that!

Denise has such a distinct style- this book is truly unique. My daughter loved the magical world that Denise created and she loved singing the Moonsong. She also loved spotting all of the animals in the illustrations. Such a great story to teach respect for nature and animals. I highly recommend.
