An obsessed teenage girl posing as an assistant. A respected, best-selling author in his thirties. An affair that rocks the world.
I fell in love with his mind.
The way he weaved words like magic and enslaved every part of my soul.
My life had been tortured and meaningless until the day I stumbled upon one of his novels and found myself devouring it. And when I found out who he was, passion unlike anything else tore through me, making me come alive for the first time in years.
Suddenly, his words on paper weren't enough.
I wanted to know more. I wanted to know his real name, what he liked for breakfast, how he looked when he slept, what his favourite scent was. Everything. I wanted to know everything.
My obsession would cost me. I knew that. But I couldn't stop. There was a thin line between reality and madness.
And I was very close to crossing it with him.
Warning : This book is meant for mature readers. Contains sensitive and heavy themes such as attempted rape, assault, mentions of suicide, body-shaming, obsessive love, cheating and dubious consent.

This book is fantastic!!! This writer is engaging and clever and endearing. Amazing character development, the pacing was perfect and it was altogether thought provoking. I highly recommend this one.
This one first caught my eye because of an early Alicia Silverstone movie called The Crush. The premise is similar but it’s a very different animal altogether. What happens when the object of your obsession eventually feels the same?
That saying, ‘when it rains, it pours,’ totally applies to Wynter. That poor girl and her virginity needs a chastity belt.
And Jude? His girlfriend is highly annoying and controlling. Are you his boss or his girlfriend?
Jeez, her mother is a blind neglectful idiot. I get the feeling, the only likable characters are Jude and Wynter.
Sadly from my experience working with police protective custody kids, it’s not rare for women to choose shitty men over their own children. Fucking disgraceful!
Not surprising but I’m glad Jennifer’s interference will no doubt bite her in the ass.
This writer is very good at a slow burn and sexual tension, color me impressed.
Ride or die? Goddam right!
“This whole thing had started out because of her obsession with me. But I was the one who was obsessed now. I was the one willing to kick everything away so that I could live and breathe her every day. And why shouldn’t I allow myself to revel in this insanity? Nothing else in this world made sense without her anyway.”
Okay, I so didn’t expect any of this. What a great book that checked off my boxes. Looking for Stalker Obsession Angst Tortured story, Right we love it with an alpha male. But here is the twist, it’s not a he, it’s she and my teenager hero(she is eighteen), Wynter What!?! I know I said the same thing. But so good.
The first five minutes of the book, I already fell down the rabbit hole. I was emotionally involved. Jude, a well-known writer, and Wynter on the run posing as an assistant to work with Jude. It’s a perfect job for her to get close to him. He is none the wiser. I enjoyed reading Wynter coming into a confident woman. Some of these side characters tried to take away her shine.
Both characters are complex and flawed. The book is well written and suspenseful, with many twists with dark undertones. On my dark scale, it’s Light Gray. A Girl Obsessed is the first novel I have read from this author, and it sure won't be the last.
Going in, I knew the premise of this book included infidelity with the female protagonist but... 1/5 of the book contained descriptive intimate OW scenes with his live-in girlfriend so I did mentally check out of the romance between the central characters. However, the author was gracious enough to answer some questions of mine and let me know that once the affair begins they are only with each other. I read the A/N and all the sensitive themes, including cheating were spotlighted (a credit to the writer) so this one might not be for the safety gang.
I liked the heroine. Direct, smart, possessed by her fantasy perception and hero worship of Jude. She was well characterised considering the type of character she is supposed to be. But for the large part, this relationship is based on her obsession and his reciprocating lust. I didn’t connect to the love story at all specifically on Judes behalf.
I would’ve bumped up my rating if they didn’t end up together. If her hero lens of him distorted and fell because Jude was a tepid, beta, non-assertive character. A socially dense man hugely obsessed with his public perception; it made him less attractive to the reader. It’s like he doesn’t know his company or the women around him at all. It was a disservice to them all. Kind of wished the heroine stalked someone more fleshed out, someone who she made jealous, someone with far more conviction rather than a man dragged around by the balls by his girlfriend. Hypocritical character who foregrounds himself in his seemingly moral and intellectual superiority. Example: it was rich of him to say to his gf they’ve been over for a long time when he gave no such indication in their relationship. The fact that he didn’t even have plans to immediately break up with the gf after sleeping with the heroine supplemented that. All in all, he wasn’t a formidable match for her imo.

How can I scream and shout in a review without sounding either like a teen or....well, crazy?! Cuz this story deserves it. Oh my God does it deserve that and more. 🖤 This was a new trope, one where the heroine was the stalker, and I thoroughly enjoyed it😍
Wynter, that goddamn lucky bitch. I never knew I could be insanely jealous and still admire and even love a character so much....Or maybe I say that with each beautifully disturbing character I meet and they get to have an equally epic person loving them back.
Wynter was a strangely alluring concoction of innocence, depravity, sexual appeal, angst and resilience. Just....Wow. I related to her so much on all contexts. Her trauma, her helplessness, her hitting rock bottom in that church, her trying to hold herself up with the only tangible thing she could....Jude, his words and her growing obsession for him. It was creepy sometimes (and if you know me, you'll know I love creepy) but it was stunningly arousing as fuck. I appreciate her stalker self so very much. ❣️💀
On the other hand, Jude was....I can't even.💕✨♥️ I am making crazy heart eyes right now. I can understand why Wynter would be obsessed with the guy. He was an intense madness in a sculpted body and a brilliant mind. But not just that, he was extremely relatable too. The way he had those long writing sessions, losing himself in other words and imaginary people even when he was with people in the real world, being in a frenzied state with twitching fingers because he JUST HAD TO write a thought down.....it was such a 'writer' behaviour. It was endearing and lovable and amusing. It was relatable. I fucking loved him. 💀🖤✨
But what he did in the next book (a sequel novella named "Ride and die" following this book)...it made me fall so utterly deep in love with him that I can't fathom having to put the enormity of those feelings into words. My baby grew fucking savage. Fucking love bad boys but I'll take a good man turning unhinged for their lover any time of any day over them. 💀😈
I want Wynter to be my girlfriend (and if she were real, I'd so ask her for a date where we could discuss about our stalking ways and exchange ideas😏) .... but I also ship her and Jude harder.🖤They are a couple who is continuously evolving in the dangerous depths of their toxic and fucked up relationship and I adore it.
I think all of us readers could understand the need to stalk an author because you just can't get enough of their words...and sometimes of them. Not to the extent Wynter did though (or maybe even to that extent?😏😈 I won't deny or confirm that in my own case lol😆). If you do relate to that, read this book (and the novella "Ride or Die" afterwards....and I can almost guarantee you'll love it. 😍
Quotes:
It's not work. It's who I am. I couldn't separate that madness from me even if I tried.
He was my addiction. My dark obsession. The object of my unfiltered desire. I imagined a world where he felt the same about me and spent every minute of his time wanting to ravish me.
I'd wanted him long before he had known I existed and I’d had a longer time to process and get used to my feelings. I was willing to give him the space to figure out his. But...he better not turn me down. The world didn't need to see that version of Wynter Cassidy. The one who had been spurned by the man she loved so much.
Burn me. Ruin me. Own me.
You’d be surprised what most famous writers crave sometimes, Wyn. What that clawing need to escape this reality would lead us to do. That is why we make writing our biggest love affair.
Girl Obsessed is a dark, age-gap, stalker romance about how a girl become obsessed with a writer.
Our main character, Winter ran away from home, after she was betrayed by her friend and mother. When she found hope in Jude's writing she wanted to cling to that feeling. She manipulated her way into his life and become his assistant.
The book had some dark themes, but it was a lot tamer than I expected.
Wynter and Jude are clearly flawed. Both characters were intense but the way they came together was well done.
What I didn't like, was the sudden change in Winter's personality.
This book was well-written and I enjoyed reading it.
Yes, there were some issues like how does an eighteen year old know how to get a fake identity, how come she had all that money saved up, some lack of her backstory, and lack of him asking her questions about her life, but I loved this book so much that I easily can overlook those issues and still give five stars.
I loved this book, the whole premise of it was completely up my street and I was excited to see where this story would go! Wynnie goes through a lot within the first few chapters of the book and my heart broke for her. She becomes obsessed with J.R Knight the writer, whose books are helping her cope with what she's going through. Jude is a famous writer with a big following, who is in need of an assistant. Obvious to say what happens next is Wynnie becomes the assistant.
There's a lot of twists and turns within this book that will definitely keep you wanting more. The only thing that I would change was for the main characters to develop the intimate part of the relationship quicker. Just because I think it was just over half way in the book before they had even kissed. But other than that, this was a thrilling read and definitely a good starter book for people looking to try some dark romance.
I thought I wouldn't be a fan of this book but I was proven wrong. This took the girl obsessed with hero trope to a whole other level. At times I thought there would be no happy ending for them once he found out who she really was, but I was more happy to read he shared the same feelings for her. The slight issue I had was the quick ending of the book and whether the couple would really spend the rest of their lives deserted
My oh my. I am all kinds of gone with this story. I mean, it was seriously deviant, twisted in a gut wrenching way, and had me wondering what the heck was I doing falling for this dark, beautiful passion that coursed through this book’s veins. Does this makes me not normal? But then, what is normal but someone who sat around a table and defined it based on their own superior thoughts and feelings all for the sake to base other’s thoughts and emotions on. I can’t think too hard on that because it would be a rabbit hole when I should just focus on the intensity of this amazing story and how it made me feel. And it made me feel a lot of things: good things, twisted things, emotional things. I loved this new to me author and her newest creation something fierce. Definitely will be looking into her other stuff.
I will say a little something about the story and the characters. Riley/Wynter wasn’t a troubled girl, she just had a troubled past and anyone that went through what she did would react the same way. At least I believe they would. Finding something to anchor them when their life is spinning out of control. And the ending wasn’t what I saw happening and yet it was perfect in every possible way. This new to me author blew me away. 5 Stars!!
This book has all kinds of cringe worthy moments from Wynter’s mother’s disgusting boyfriend, her pervy friend, and awful mother to her developing this crazy obsession with her favorite author. While this story is Wynter and Jude’s love story I really think this is Wynter’s story. You see her grow throughout the entire book embracing who she is and what she wants while also trying to deal with trauma she endured in her past. This definitely not your typically romance but I loved how one person obsession turned into two peoples obsession of each other.
This was so dang on boring. The story started OK and then just turned unbelievable - like what planet is this on, type of shit. The characters were just so blah, and blah. Save yourself some time, this is not worth the read.
Wynnie was crazy. She absolutely made me laugh with all her schemes and her crazy antics. Jude is her obsession and nothing will get in her way. Definitely an amazing semi dark story about a girl who can't see past the man she wants.
My first time reading by this author and I was amazed by it and I loved it. It was different what I expected specifically from Winter’s point where I couldn’t place her as a stalker with obsession or a girl who was broken and felt the deep connection
The story was dark and emotional from beginning to the end, and comes with the triggers that include attempted murder, rape and suicidal thoughts.
Jude and Winter were two broken individuals who found comfort and understanding in each other. Winter found herself running away from home after devastating betrayal by her friend and a mother who she couldn’t reach out too. The only inspiration she had left was the author who she felt so deeply connected to and with hidden identity she became his assistant. She might have obsessed over him however she also loved him. And Winter was what Jude needed, after all she was his muse and his inspiration to write again.
I’m giving this story a five star review and I would recommend it to everyone
This is my first read by Zee and damn - my mind is blown. Girl Obsessed is dark, but not too dark. Wynnie and Jude are both intense characters, but in different spectrums. They meet in the middle and it works - I mean this story is a diamond in pile of pebbles compared to some of the stalker romances I have read in the past. Zee also flipped the script with making the heroine the stalker in this tale, which also captivated my interest. The plot? I was engaged from the start, I found myself needing to see where this author took these two characters and she didn’t disappoint. She wrote out scenes so intensely vivid that it was like a movie playing in my mind and I dared not hit the pause button. Girl Obsessed was jaw-dropping, intense, suspenseful, and could be trigger happy for some - but I loved every single word. This is definitely one book I will be adding to my physical library when it comes out.
There are books that make me tear up. Then, there are books that make me ugly cry. This is one of those books. I practically choked on my sobs and had to put my phone down a couple of times. I didn’t expect this at all!
“Girl Obsessed” is the first book I've read from Zee Shine Storm, and what a rollercoaster it was. It was a test of my morality. I didn't know whether it was okay to empathize and wish for Wynter’s happy ending based on what she'd gone through, or if I should want a more bittersweet ending based on how far her obsession with Jude took her. However, the way the other characters were written in this book makes it seem like what she'd done was nothing and I thought it was interesting to see the contrast. Zee will make you hate [most of] them so much, you can’t help but want to protect Wynter. It definitely played a part in my inner turmoil.
Jude was a prevalent calm to the other male characters that are introduced. With his beautiful prose, he was Wynter’s saving grace, but even those we idolize aren’t as perfect as we make them out to be in our heads. We’re all human after all, and once you dig deep down into Jude’s darkness, you’ll be hit with the reality of it. Regardless, he still stole my heart.
This author kept me guessing throughout this book. My heart would palpitate, waiting to see what Wynter would do in times of jealousy. I was also anxious for when her secret would be revealed and all hell broke loose. I couldn't even tell the fate of this couple, whether they would have a happy ending or not. The passion between them was beautiful and intoxicating. So much so that there’s a fine line between right and wrong, but you can’t help but wish for their happily ever after. I won’t spoil it, but I'll just say that it was perfectly written and you won’t see it coming!
This story has definitely left an imprint on me. I'm so excited to read more from this author!
[This took so long to write, and I still feel that it doesn’t capture everything I loved about this book 😭]
The premise promised more than the prose or the story flow delivered.
The FMC's mind is broken due to horrible events. In a span of 24H, she was drugged so her best friend would film a pornographic video and sell it. It's true that he never penetrated her or shown her face in the video, but he still assaulted her and broke years of friendship.
Then her leering stepfather( it's more of her mother's lover I think) broke into her room and proceeded to rape her at knife point. He did not manage to do it because she broke free and stabbed him 2 times with full intention to kill him. Her mother never believed her boyfriend is a rapist and called cops on her.
It's important to mention, that in both times, FMC hit her best friend and her stepfather with one of the MMC books. MMC is a famous serious author. So in the FMC's broken mind she associated MMC with being her savior and hero.
So, she forged a new identity (no fucking clue how since she was an innocent naive 18 year old on the run) and took a job as MMC's assistant (No fucking clue how, since the MMC did not like her during the interview and his girlfriend who chose her was never kind to her. In fact she downright bullied her.)
The rest of the book, FMC was slowly immersing herself into the MMC's life while pushing some weird boundaries. (Like touching the man's dick in his sleep/ and getting rid of her virginity with a dildo painfully so the MMC won't know she's a virgin)
What downplayed the quality of the story is that the MMC never resisted her. Was not a sane person himself. Even if the author was trying to convince us he changed slowly for her to embrace her dark ways. He was never a good person to begin with. And he delved in her psychotic ways quickly which made us so sure of the outcome. Nothing thrilling about what is supposed to be a romantic thriller.
Holy mother of sexual tension..! 🙈 That was an amazing story 🖤. It's the first book that I read from this author and I can proudly say that I'm definitely a fan of hers. 🙈 Girl seriously..where have you been? 😈
This is about a girl obsessed with a writer. She has strong feelings for him and finds it extremely difficult to keep their relationship.. professional. Oh..did I mention? She somehow ends up being his assistant 😈
He on the other hand has a girlfriend. Although.. he realizes that he feels attracted to his assistant as they get to know each other.
Their chemistry is to die for. The intimate moments that they share are passionate as fuck and will turn you on. Consider yourselves warned 😈. Yes..the sex and the whole atmosphere is scorching hot. There is nothing sexier than two people trying to contain themselves and their sexual attraction 😈
I appreciated the fact that the author warned the readers in the introduction about potential triggers like mentioning suic*de, cheating..etc. Since thought I enjoy intense and dark books, I don't get triggered. So reading warnings like this..just make me even more eager to read the book. 😈
This story is not just a book. It's an experience. I got hooked immediately and the pages were turning so fast because I was literally devouring it. This kept me awake until 5 am and I do not regret staying awake until this time because I got the chance to read an amazing story with a great plot. 🖤
Girl Obsessed by Zee Shine Storm aka @datcrazywriter_ ........... “I'd follow you to the ends of the earth if you'd let me. I frowned to myself then. Well. Even if you don't let me, I'll still follow you.” ........... Wow this book surprised me! I couldn’t put it down! I had no idea where the story was going to go and I wanted to see how if would all play out. As the title suggests this is a dark romance stalker story. 😉😉 .......... “She was to become his agony, his destruction, his hellfire.” ........... This story follows Wynter who reads books by a famous author in order to escape her shitty life. Not surprisingly, she becomes obsessed with him. When an incident with her step father has her on the run and in hiding, she comes across an add to be a personal assistant for that author. She of course jumps at the chance, and fakes her identity to get the job. Little does he know who he just hired and what that one dicision will do to his life. ............. “If they knew the things I did to her behind closed doors in the dark of the night .” ............. All an all this was a great romance read! I loved the theme of the stalker and writer scenario. This was a fast read and kept me interesting but I also felt like there could’ve been more world or character building, but that didn’t take away from the story. There are dark themes but it’s not overly dark. This is standalone so no cliff hanger. Great read!
Girl Obsessed by Zee Shine Storm is a dark, age-gap, stalker romance. Wynter is a teenager obsessed with Jude, an author. Wynter has a tormented past and when she discovers Jude’s books she becomes obsessed and stalks him. Wynter inserts herself into Jude’s life and becomes his assistant. Although Jude has a girlfriend, their connection is undeniable, and he finds himself attracted to Wynter.
This book was an intense emotional whirlwind. This book held my attention from the very beginning. There are triggering topics such as rape and child abuse, but they are handled well in this book and the author knows how to write an addictive tale. This book and the romance between Jude and Wynter were completely unexpected. I didn’t see some of the things coming and that only made me love this book more. The characters are flawed with reason and although we may want to see Wynter in a certain light because she is a stalker, the moment we find out the reasoning behind her mindset it changes how you perceive her character. This book was well-written and I enjoyed the duality of these characters. The subject matter is intense and this book as a whole was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
I received a ARC of Girl Obsessed and this is my honest review.
Girl Obsessed, Girl you will become a Girl obsessed with this book!!
This is my first time reading this author and I very much enjoyed this book. This is a Dark Romance but it’s a little on lighter side of Dark Romance for me.
This book does have some TRIGGER WARNINGS. But man did this author make it easy for me to fall in love with Winnie and Jude. The intenseness of the characters and the story was amazing. There was some parts I wanted to just skim but this book pretty much held my attention throughout and had me thinking about it days after I was done reading it.
I loved how the roles were reserved on the stalker, usually it’s a guy stalking the girl. But Winnie knew what she wanted and she went for it.
Jude didn’t know how he would feel about having a stalker at first.
This book was intense, hot and so so good. Like I said if you read this you become obsessed with finishing it as soon as you can.
I loved loved loved this book!! Read it in 2 days and couldn't get enough!! This book is so well written and really dives deep into mental health and how anxiety and depression can change your outlook on life when you feel down. The words fly off the page and you can't wait to get to the next to find out what happens. It leaves you in suspense.
Wynter is just treading water in her life at this moment and any other life alterations could have her give up that fight. she finds new light in an author whos words inginite a fire within her soul. And she becomes obsessed, clinging to his every written word.
When she finds herself face to face with the man of her fantasies will she be able to keep herself or check or will her past come back and haunt them and force them seperate ways?
Get your hands in a copy of "Girl obsessed" today. You wont be disappointed.
This book was not what I expected. I’m actually not sure what I expected because I was uncertain about how I would feel about an age gap romance, since this is the first I’ve read in that genre but I was pleasantly surprised. Having said that, I absolutely love Wynter and Jude’s story!! It was just the right amount of dark, obsession and angst. Never over the top and leaving me always wanting more. Wynnie describes herself as a girl obsessed with her favorite author, and she very well may be, but I viewed her as a broken girl, who was let down by everyone in her life who should have protected her and she found her escape and safety in the words, and later the arms, of the one person who was able to help her through it all. Jude seemed to have it all together, aside from his anxiety issues and unexpectedly found that Wynnie just may be able to save him too. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I will say that I very much enjoyed the roller coaster of emotions that came with this story. There may be triggers for some people, but the author warns of that before the book starts. Both characters were intense in their own ways but the way they came together and connected with each other was simply beautiful. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book I’ve read of Zee Shine Storm’s and just like with the first, she did not disappoint 😊 I can’t wait to see what she has in the works next!!
This was an interesting read. I have to say when I saw “a dark romance” in the title I expected a DARK romance. It was a lot tamer than I expected. But in my opinion the “dark” aspect wasn’t so much in the romance but maybe more in the characters state of mind at times. There’s definitely some triggering topics (I won’t go into details) and those were indeed dark. It wasn’t what I expected but I did like the story. I found it very hard to see Wynter as anything other than a victim. Yes, I know, the stalker tendencies? Bad. The lying to insert herself into Jude’s life. Also bad. But I just couldn’t see her as the “bad guy”. Maybe I felt too bad for her considering the terrible things she had to deal with especially at her young age. Her mind went into a dark space at times but I was alway glad that she found the strength to keep going. (Even though what kept her going was an unhealthy obsession). What was even more intriguing though was Jude. I expected him to be the “victim” or “normal” one for a lack of better word. But his attitude toward the whole ordeal surprised me. Overall I liked that this story didn’t really go the way I expected it to. Like they say “don’t judge a book by it cover” right? Will definitely check out other books from this author.
This book was not like anything I had ever read. Wynter (Winnie), a girl who goes through hell and nobody believed her becomes obsessed with author Jude. Both characters are very intense characters and the burn between them was so good. Jude a best selling author in an unhappy relationship and at a transitional spot in his career hires an assistant Riley (Winnie). I don't want to give away to many more plot points because you just have to read it. This isn't like any dark romance I have ever read and it was such a breath of fresh air.
Girl Obsessed is my first read of Zee Shine Storm but I was not disappointed. I wasn't sure what to expect or where the story was going to lead. I was impressed with how well the story flowed. Wynter is a broken, lost girl who I thought was going to be the one with an obsession and she was. BUT nothing compared with the hold she had on Jude. This dark twisted story was completely gratifying in a way I never expected. Kudos to the author for keeping the reader on their toes.
Girl Obsessed is a intriguing read. It drew me in from the very first page, and kept me captivated till the end. It was a tad dark, flowed really well, and the twists kept me guessing. The characters Jude and Wynter have obsessive tendencies, and a intense attraction towards one another from the start. This is the first story, I have read from this author, and I can say I'm a fan!
This book blew me away. The characters are well written and were so interesting to get into the minds of. Wynter is so strong and brave yet also fragile and vulnerable. Jude is also a contradiction of intelligent and successful yet also vulnerable. The women in his life have taken advantage of this and I love Wynter's protectiveness of Jude. I loved their chemistry but mind and body and just am in love with this pair. This book also explores the social media environment today and societies often conflicting ideals. Absolutely loved this book.
