beautiful collection ranging all over the world. capturing experience in a particular place is essential to many of the poems here, the connections or lack of that we make or miss with the people and things around us, how we often misread or are misread by others, and the continuous nature of change in people and place.
standouts, for me, are "trying to name what doesn't change," "dew," "defining white," "blood," the traveling onion," "telling the story," and "you have to be careful."
The story of Naomi Shihab titled Yellow Glove is a compilation of poetry she’s written that walks you through her life. Every page illustrates a new beautiful picture that when connected with each other create a magnum opus. The story resonates with me so much because the author attended LEE high school (my school) and talks about her life allowing me to walk in her steps and relate to her on her work and ideas. Naomi Shihab writes with such thought out ideas allowing me to connect with her but still maintain the feeling of uniqueness. Another huge reason I enjoyed this story is that it was so different from everything else I've read making it open up my eyes to a new platform of literature.
