Xarc'n Warriors #3

Taken by the Hunter

Rate this book

CONNIE

I have a purple stalker.

I don’t know what possessed me to hit the Xarc’n warrior with my bat, but now I have a stalker—a big purple stalker with fangs and horns. And to make things worse, I can’t go back to New Franklin.

After my first night out on my own, I wake up all wrapped up and cuddly with a certain possessive hunter. He purrs like a giant cat and vows to protect me. And to top it all off, he has a pet squirrel. A freakin’ pet squirrel!

The “Jerk” claims he can’t let go of me, but I don’t buy it. I’m no squirrel, and I don’t intend to be his pet. Not even when he claims I belong with him and promises to protect me forever.

JORG’K

Killing the scourge is my calling, and I revel in every violent encounter. Hunters are created with strong instincts to protect, but mine never fully manifested. I just wanted to fight. I never understood why some hunters wanted anything more. Until now.

I can’t get the little human out of my head. She attacks me with her wooden club, and I realize she’s all I ever wanted.

My brave female watches me as I fight the deadly scourge, so I give her a show of my strength and skills. I will convince her to be my mate. I have to. The mating bond has chosen, and it is never wrong!

Bug Hunters!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️😳🥺☺️🥰

The heroine: Connie - she lived in the New Franklin settlement in the last few months since the bugpocolypse. She was starting to suspect that the people that ran the settlement were doing so in a very shady way. Connie was a Forager and she liked that. She was able to leave the settlement and gather items they needed.

The Hero: Jorg’K - he is a Xarc’n warrior, a scourge hunter and when he first came across Connie and saved her, he knew that she was his mate. He knew that she was wary of him, so he followed her when she foraged.

The Story: Connie was finding it harder each month to meet the quotas they set at the settlement. If you didn’t meet the quota you were either kicked out or if you were a woman, you were required to become a mother to populate the post apocalyptic world. Connie suspected that the guy who had been making advances towards her, which she turned down, was the one that was pushing for her to become a mother, with him as the father.

Connie took off on her own when she found out that the settlement was going to force her hand even though she was on track to make her quota. There is also a new scourge variant on the loose. It is like a giant centipede with sharp knife like protrusions on the sides of their body that are coated with venom. The hunters and their women call them Centicreeps.

Like the first two books, this one was told in dual points of view via dual narration, with narration done by Troy Duran and Kiera Stevens. They both do an awesome job and I want to listen to the whole series. I like the whole theme of the huge alien bugs that have invaded Earth. The world is very reminiscent of The Walking Dead except killer bugs instead of killer zombies. The world building is just terrific and the description of the different insects was great.

This book had me glued to the pages and it makes you wonder if it could happen you never know what’s out there in the universe. Connie is a human fighting to survive on earth after these bugs arrived and started killing everyone an eating them and then these big purple aliens came and it seemed like they where working together or so the government said but I didn’t believe it was true. Theses bugs come out when is hot and that’s all time because it’s summer time now. Jorg’k has been protecting the humans in his area from the worst of the swarm but also because he has to protect his mate, her scent triggered his mating bond but she doesn’t know it but he keeps leaving stuff for her and she keeps finding all this stuff and now she is being attacked by a bug and is locked in a closet but not for long because a big purple alien saves her and kills the bug easily and now she is scared of him and wants to leave and take her food stuff back to the compound as a gather and meet her quota instead of being a breeder but her time is up because a male in the group Simon wants her and the men always get what they want by buying them from the leader mama sal. But Connie want fall into that trap because her friend Stacey gives her the heads up and she leaves before it’s to late. Jorg’k follows his mate to keep her safe but invites the bugs by beacon to come to him and show her he can fight and protect her with his speed and strength and after witnessing him in action she is intrigued by him and a little turned on at the same time. Will they get together and if so how will it all turn out can she trust the big guy when all there ever been told was how dangerous they are. Great book

I totally enjoyed reading this very intriguing post-apocalyptic Sci-Fi alien romance that has a good dose of humour in it. Personally, I feel that it is a splendid addition to the “Xarc’n Warriors” series & can easily stand on its own. It has an interesting, well-paced storyline with good world building that has some emotional undertones in it. The plot has suspenseful, unexpected confrontations with life-changing events in it that is well-described. In particular, I was fascinated with the comradery & support between the aliens & humans within their group. The characters are well-developed & continue to develop throughout the story-line to become emotional entwined with each other. There is good support from the secondary characters.
It is about: a rather distrustful human female (Connie) trying to survive after a catastrophic event & an alien insect invasive scourge, was living in a compound (New Franklin) but sneaks out before being forced to breed with one of the human males (Simon). Connie draws the attention of a very determinate purple Xarc’n warrior (Jorg’k) who starts leaving her little gifts, hoping to entice her into accepting him as her mate.
There is: adventure, action, prejudices, threats, danger, attacks, conflict, violence, drama, suspense, humour, deadly bugs (scuttlers), humans, alien warriors, a cute pet squirrel (Tooth), mates, unexpected confrontations, suspicions, attractions, possessiveness, protectiveness, determination, disagreements, misunderstandings, jealousy, compromises, comradery, some steamy scenes, contentment & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion for this couple.

This time around we have a human lady in a bad situation and a hunter who REALLY likes everything about her. Connie isn't smitten with Jorg'k at first sight (although she didn't mind all the eye-candy that comes with a big, purple, muscle-y alien hunk), but she comes to trust him and his sweet, protective ways.

On the other hand, Jorg'k very much IS smitten. Long before he actually sees Connie, really. He's been following her scent around town for a while as she scavenges and knows she's the one for him. When she's threatened by the scourge, he jumps in to help her, but it takes a while (and one escape from the people running the survivor group she's been staying in) for things to really heat up between them.

A little danger, a sweet pet squirrel, some people doing some not-so-nice things, a whole lot of bugs, a lonely warrior who's thrilled to have found his special someone, and a lady who finds out she doesn't mind a protective warrior with a lot of stamina. *thumbs up*

Loved it

Author used the cultural miscommunication and differences in this story. Loved the mate lock!

Happy they are helping other humans.
Do wish they activate phones, etc and pass them out to human communities, and Jack uses video and audio to spread correct information about what is going on.

As well sharing tech to provide some electricity, and what worked for them.

How about video of how to kill the bugs, and passing info about new ones.

Other think is the clones in the ship can make devises to help the humans survive. Like armor for fighting and sound devices that make bugs avoid area.

What I’ve come to expect from this series. Good action, interesting and relatable FL, and sexy alien men. The romance was a little… dull, for me personally. I liked Connie a lot, her attitude and intelligence was fun. Jorg’k played his role well, and I think he was at least a little distinct from the other guys… in some ways.

My favorite part of the book was dealing with the messed up dynamic in the New Franklin settlement, which also had a satisfying resolution.

Xarc’n Warriors is an 8-book post apocalypse series written by Lynnea Lee. The books are set on Earth, after an alien invasion from space bugs, where the few human survivors are still fighting for survival daily. The invasive species, controlled by a “queen,” have built hives inside major cities, and killed (and ate) most humans. The space bugs (aka scourge) carry an infectious and deadly bacteria. Any human that became desperate enough (from starvation) to capture and eat a scourge, turned into a heavily contagious zombie that must be avoided at all cost. The scourge will stop at nothing to return the bacteria to its hive. The remaining humans have taken refuge outside the major cities. Some forming survivalist groups and cults that stand against the Xarc’n Warriors. The Xarc’n Warriors are aliens that have come to help Earth by ridding it of their scourge infestation. The Xarc’ns, being perfect clones specifically designed to fight the bugs, reside in territories around the world. This series follows the Xarc’n Warrior group that created a safe compound inside Franklin. Xarc’n Hunter’s are over 7 feet tall, purple skin, ram-like horns sprouting from their temples, sharp teeth with fangs, and retractable claws. They all seem to have muscles on top of their muscles; no dad bods here. Their females are extinct, which is why they’ve been intrigued to match and mate with women of Earth (they are compatible and can have offspring together). But they have to travel to the mothership in order to activate their dormant mating capabilities, so no accidental pregnancies can be had.

Written in 1st person, Taken by the Hunter is book 3 in the series and follows the Xarc’n Warrior Jorg’k and his human mate Connie. Connie was living with a settlement of humans that used females for baby making, locking them up and not letting them leave. Her settlement was in an abandoned school that happened to be in Jorg’k’s territory. Jorg’k caught Connie’s scent whenever she went out foraging and he helped by keeping the scourge clear in her foraging area. He brought her gifts, saved her life and stalked her from afar until Connie left the settlement to avoid becoming a baby machine with a guy that disgusted her. She was terrified of Jorg’k, assuming that he was what the media depicted. Unfortunately, Jorg’k mating bond triggered, leaving the two stuck together for three days, which helped her get more comfortable with him. Eventually Connie came around and fell in love with him after he brought her back to a human/Xarc’n settlement where she had freedoms. Jorg’k even helped free other women from Connie’s old settlement.

Admittedly, I am 100% on board with the Xarc’n species. Their protective, aggressive, possessive, dominant, controlling need of need of their mate is my kind of flavor. The way they unintentionally purr, growl and roar is kinda cute too. When a mating band takes place, neither party can physically stop touching each other for a certain period of time. Which is different and quite endearing. Each section of a Xarc’n cock is shaped like a sex toy; a head with a thick ridge around the widest part and it dipped in before the next part started. Picture a butt-plug with 3 round balls, each one bigger than the last.

The book doesn’t suck; it’s filled with adventure and a little romance. I just prefer found myself a little bored with the redundant story. I recommend reading, at least once. Onto the next book in the series…

It’s not too bad, but there are some things that bother me. First is the bugs. How did they get to earth? They seem mindless, definitely not intelligent enough for space travel, so, how do they spread through the universe? Also, the fungus with them makes little sense. And no, I checked the other books in the series, and it doesn’t seem likely this stuff gets explained there either.
Second, the hunters seem like a very ineffective way to fight the “scourge”, given that they multiply exponentially during the warm months. Even the strongest warrior would fall under the assault of hundreds of opponents, no matter how weak. He will eventually get tired and make mistakes, which will get him killed. Especially with the fungus capable of infecting him if guts made it inside his mouth. It would make more sense they developed weapons specifically to destroy the creatures. But instead, they clone these warriors, who pursue the bugs from planet to planet (the origin of these Xarc’n guys isn’t clear either, BTW). *Sidenote: why would their creators give them huge junks if they just wanted them for battle and weren’t meant to reproduce? Also, their horns are apparently erogenous too. Why? the people who created these warriors have some explaining to do*
Third, why would earth governments drive the warriors away? Even if they think the bugs are their fault (which they are, actually, just not in the way humans thought), the sensible thing would be to pretend to eat their crap while planning to betray them in the end, after the bugs are gone. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that. But instead we have a paramilitary group dedicated to hunting Xarc’n; why? don’t they have their hands full surviving the freaking bugs? They don’t play a major role in this story, but the fact they exist is just stupid.
Fourth, the mating bond is not explained. Maybe in the first two books, but I don’t care enough about these people to go and find out. It was like she flipped a couple switches and went from being terrified of this guy to wanting to jump him to loving him in a matter of days. All her issues are gone when this mating bond kicks in.
Finally, the backpedaling at the beginning of every goddamn chapter got tiresome. One chapter would start with the same events the last one ended with, just from the other’s POV. Really, I didn’t need a recount of things I’d just read five minutes ago.

A little background on the series: Giant bugs from outer space have taken over the Earth and destroyed civilization. The surviving humans live in constant fear of these bugs and would be in danger of extinction if not for the Xarc’n hunters. These alien bug hunters came to Earth in hopes of saving the planet from the bug scourge. Xarc'n hunters are a dying race with no females of their species left to mate. They discover they are able to form mate bonds with human women and now feel an even greater urgency to save Earth.

Connie is a survivor. She is a no-nonsense kind of gal but, like most humans, she has more spunk than knowledge about how to survive the invasion and knows humans are facing a losing battle against the giant alien bugs.

Jorg'k is a Xarc'n warrior. He became aware of Connie during one of his bug patrols and realized that she was his mate. From that point on, he did everything in his power to protect her and woo her. The words wonderful, noble, and innocent kept popping into my head as I got to know Jorg'k's character better. The Xarc'n hunters are bred via cloning. They grow up with the single-minded purpose of destroying the scourge. They think of their fellow hunters as brothers and friends but are not skilled on how to interact with females. Jorg'k's attempts to woo Connie were sweet and sometimes a little funny as he tried to navigate through the human "mating rituals". It took Connie a long time to warm up to Jorg'k because of all the lies that had been disseminated about the alien hunters by the governments of the world before civilization fell. Once she realized his feelings were sincere, their HEA was much easier to achieve.

The series’ overarching plot of saving the world and humans from extinction progresses and rings a hopeful note for the future of humanity in this story. Some humans are starting to warm up to the aliens and are helping them kill the bugs. This new cooperation might be the turning point that makes the difference on Earth.

Very fun romance novel wrapped up in an exciting sci-fi adventure series. Excellent five star read.

He Must Protect His Mate!

Jorg’k is a Xarc’n warrior on earth to protect the humans from the “scourge” of bugs. He never expected to find his mate. He saves her from an attack by the bugs, but she is so afraid of him that he lets her go. The government has been pretty successful in their propaganda campaign against the Xarc’n, blaming everything on them.

Connie has been living in a compound of survivors and goes out every day to forage for anything that might be useful to their survival. She is the outcast of the group and only has one friend in the compound. They are trying to force her to become a breeder for one of the humans in the compound and she refuses. She is forced out. Jorg’k has been following her and leaving her “presents” to show her that he is a worthy male and is not a threat to her. When he sees her running from the compound he knows she has been forced out. He watches over her the first night and then takes her back to his compound where she meets the other female humans there and they explain the mating urge to her. She finally believes he isn’t just trying to trick her into having sex with him but she still doesn’t totally trust him. She also learns there is soon to be another swarm of the scourge and that they are trying to prepare for it.

Can she overcome her fears in time to help them all survive?

4&1\2terrific 🌟s for Connie and Jorg’k

Another strong entry for the Xarc'n Warriors series. Jorg’k, loves fighting and killing the swarm. Even though he enjoys killing the bugs he's lonely and wildlife to find someone too call his own. He has a wonderful friend who happens to be a mischievous squirrel he named tooth. On a routine mission he gets rid of some bugs and scents a female. Once he takes in her beautiful scent he knows that she is the female for him. Connie , is out foraging and is trapped by the bugs in a closet until a big bad gorgeous Xarc'n warrior rescued her. She's terrified at first because she's not sure what she has been told is the truth about the warriors. She escapes and goes back to her settlement but she doesn't feel like she belongs anywhere. As a matter of fact she actually scared . She's afraid she's tough to end up a breeder or kicked out. Jorg’k watches his female from afar trying his best to provide for her and keep her safe. Until she leaves her settlement all bets are off he will do what ever he has to go keep her safe. Connie realizes this warrior truly only wants what's best for her and will give her a place to truly fit in and belong. Join the adventure, danger, alien bugs, passion and most of all love can be found here within the pages of this book. Great read 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

5/5 ⭐️

Another wonderful story!

I loved how the author made each alien character uniquely different even if they all look relatively the same. The characters in this story, Connie and Jorg'k, were absolutely adorable together. While Connie was hesitant and suspicious of Jorg'k in the beginning, she let go of her anxieties, insecurities, and societal constraints to embrace her mate bond with him. His point of view was so intense and sweet, but also funny and light-hearted at the same time. I loved how the author used his alien-ness as a way to describe Earth dating customs, making them seem innocent and cute. Lee chose to make him that way, and I applauded her thought process behind it. Connie needed someone who didn't understand society's backward expectations of her as a healthy, young woman in a post-apocalyptic world. She needed someone who wouldn't look at her as a broodmare, but instead as the strong, independent, and witty woman she was.

What made me laugh the most was the author's description of the alien fungus. How it was spread and how it returned to the host aliens reminded me a lot of the Ring of Power in "The Lord of the Rings". As a self-professed nerd, this parallel connection made me laugh out loud, making light of the author's slightly nauseating descriptions of the alien bugs.

Just like books one and two, I intend to read this book again in the future.

I was sent a copy of the book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
In "Hunted" we get to hear Cynthia's story. When you hit someone with a cricket bat or a baseball bat, you don't expect them to just stand there and do nothing. But for Cynthia this is exactly what happens. Her "attacker" is a Xarc'n warrior - huuuuge and purple and built like a tank - a very, very big solid tank. And he's not about to let her get away. Once he gets her scent he decides that she's his and he's going to make sure she knows it. But all in good time. He'll let her get used to him being in the background and make her realize he isn't a threat to her.
Book 3 in this series is as beautiful as the previous books and Lynnea Lee brings us a race of people who not only value their females, but are also prepared to live alongside other species in their combined battle against The Bugs. They are willing to learn extra survival tactics and blend in to become part of a stronger community. By the same token, they are also prepared to dish out "punishment" to those who do the wrong thing by others they care about and those people who do the wrong thing by Cynthia learn this the hard way.
Highly recommend not only the series but also the author.

Another Hunter falls in love!

I adore the world Lynnea is able to create. While trying to survive after Earth has been devastated by the Scourge- bug like invaders that eat anything alive in their path, the humans and hunters still have hope at being able to make a better life for themselves and those around them.

Up in this story is Jorg'k and Connie. We travel back before the events of book 2 in this story to see Connie and Jorg'k meet. He knows she is the one. Connie is not interested in trading one over bearing man for a different one, even if he is HOT!

I was riveted as the story unfolded. We meet new characters in a human settlement, showing how humans will take advantage of others who are weaker than them. We also get to see other humans who choose to stand and fight along side the Hunters.

Great sense of hope at the future they can carve out for themselves and others.

Who would have thought a squirrel would be a great wingman?

I look forward to continuing the series.

Loved it! This is another Xarc’n warrior book. It’s a great read with characters from the previous books too, steamy scenes and a happily ever after ending. The characters and world building is absolutely amazing.

Connie is hiding from the scourge when she’s saved by a Xarc’n warrior. She’s terrified of him and runs away. Jorg’k isn’t deterred though. Connie is his female, he just has to get her to agree to it aswell. Xarc’n warriors are possessive, protective and slightly stalkerish but once they call you mate that’s it for life and they will protect you with everything they have. When Connie is told by her friend at the human settlement that she has been given to one of the human males to be a new mother, she runs away. There Jorg’k finds her and during the night he cuddles her for warmth, unfortunately the mating bond decides to show up and the next morning he’s unable to let go of her. He takes her back to the compound where she sees for herself that the Xarc’n warriors aren’t as bad as people make out, in fact they are good, really good.

Connie is trying to make it as a forager for the human settlement, while they want her to become a breeder. She's strong and resourceful and has no plans to become a breeder.

Jorg'k is an alien warrior bred to hunt and kill the scourge, genetically altered bugs that are ravaging worlds. All he's ever wanted to do was fight until he encounters a little human's scent.

When alien hunter's mate bonds trigger their drive to protect takes over. Jorg'k understands his little human is afraid of him and works to win her favor and not make the mistakes his fellow warriors made with their mates.

Even though the mating bond was instant, I liked how Jorg'k got to know Connie and came up with his unique way of courting her. While the story pacing is quick, there's bug battles, corruption busting, saving friends, a cute squirrel and steamy encounters to enjoy.

From Connie's perspective, both human and hunter groups just want her for reproductive purposes, and her choice of partner is of no concern. She takes a risk and joins a human group, but has to work extra hard and be on constant alert to keep the members trying to convert her at bay. She knows her time is limited, and knows she's not the only one who needs to escape soon.

Jorg’k has been a friendly stalker keeping her safe and trying to win her over. She certainly doesn't trust him right away wouldn't want to jump into a romantic relationship with anyone, except she wakes up to find herself literally stuck to him. Managing their travels and daily tasks takes a bit of creativity.

The story shows the frightening sides of an apocalyptic world as well as the heartwarming and creative sides. Different groups come together for survival and use their differences to their advantages. No one person or group is undervalued and opportunities are available to everyone.

UGH, I hate to do it because I loved Jorg'k's character.
He had so much potential but it was wasted on an incomplete story and a romance that, quite frankly, didn't make any damn sense.
I know I complained about the lackluster romance building in the first two books but this book makes those books look swoony.
This book is a study in insta-love.
The only reason they are together is because of a mating bond. If it weren't for the mating bond there would be nothing between them. I'm not sure if this was a filler book to start the push for a more complex plot because they did introduce the possibility of gaining alliances with the humans, but the romance felt like an afterthought.
Natalie was a tragically underdeveloped character and her entire story and personality were based around the tokenism of being racially ambiguous.
It wasn't a good look at all.
This was a drop in the series for me. Hopefully, the next one will be better but if it can't pick up, I'm not sure I will continue the series.

Connie and Jorg'k were fun to read. I really like seeing a more dynamic MC and FMC although I feel like Connie being mixed had 0 bearing on the rest of the plot other than being scouted to being a breeder. Which I'm not discounting) but I did appreciate that the author didn't just harp on Connie being mixed throughout the entire book since other smuts I've read with non-white women felt weirdly pushed to remind the reader that they were NOT white.

I liked the plot of being introduced to more humans that did become allies at the end and that the other human women they found didn't necessarily shack up with only alien guys in the bug apocalypse. I like the variation of the ragtag group of people now that I'm a couple books in and I'm gonna push myself to read the whole series since what else am I doing lmao

I really enjoy that the author hints at potential future couples and such in the current book because when I read initially about Jorg'k being MIA in the earlier books trying to find his woman I was hype to read this.

Xarc'n hunters are cloned warriors modified to be the ultimate fighters against the bugs. It is all the life Jorg’k has known and he enjoys killing bugs. When they discover Earth women can trigger their mating bond, it gives them hope for a different future.
Connie is a forager for the New Franklin compound. Although she would meet her foraging quota for the month, her friend,Stacy, warned her the leaders of the compound planned to make her a New Mother for the settlement.
She had been told that the Xarc'n hunters had brought the bugs to Earth and would kidnap women and they were never seen again, but Connie had been rescued from the bugs by one of the big purple hunters.
This story has very likable characters, romance, danger, action and ends with an HEA. In the story Jorg’k has a pet squirrel he has named Tooth that provides a touch of humor I really enjoyed.

This third enjoyable story is about Jorg'k and Connie. Connie is out foraging when she's goes into a closet when the bugs trapped her. Along comes Jorg'k who rescues her. Connie living in the settlement where they believe the the Aliens brought the bugs hits and flees from Jorg'k. When Connie returns to the settlement she finds out they want to put her into the New Mothers program. The next day fleeing from the settlement, Connie getting her hidden stashes sees Jorg'k who is trying to impress her by killing the bugs. Jorg'k has sensed that Connie is his mate and has helped and protected her for weeks, can he persuade her to be his mate? I liked both characters in this story and the romance between the two was a enjoyable read also Tooth was a adorable pet. We also get to know how dire the warmer weather affects the swarm to the habitants of New Franklin and the new bug. I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable especially when Connie fought with herself over her real feelings for Jorg’k. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Jorg’k and Connie were quite the pair. Jorg’k was already ready to keep Connie forever BEFORE they even met face to face. The mate bond had me totally cracking up. I was irritated and wanted to smack Jorg’k when he was using important time to confront the men when there were more important things to do. The group that Connie used to live with were seriously messed up. They seemed to get what they deserved. I liked how the story ended although I would have liked an epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book.

Listening to the audiobook was wonderful and enjoyable as well. The narrators did an amazing job of bringing the characters to life. I would also recommend listening to the audiobook if you have the chance.

Accepting Her Mate . . .

Jorg’k is a Xarc’n hunter which means he was cloned and modified to fight against the bugs that are plaguing Earth. Connie is a forager at the New Franklin compound and had a run-in with the bugs. She is afraid of Jorg’k because of the propaganda spread by the government to blame the Xarc’n warriors for the bugs. But the Xarc'n hunter rescued her from the bugs and kept her safe because he recognized her as his mate.

When she was ultimately kicked out of the New Franklin compound because she didn’t want them to force her to be a breeder, Jorg’k took her to his compound instead and the female humans there told her about the mating urge. So she can trust Jorg’k that he is not trying to trick her into anything. With another swarm of bugs coming, will Connie learn to fight for her new compound? Will she accept her mate?

I couldn't put this down! This is a great series. Each book is about a new couple and is best read in order as the overarching storyline develops.
The Xarc'n hunters, genetically engineered warriors, have followed the "Bugs" to Earth to kill them before they destroy EVERYTHING. Humans have come together forming small communities to survive....
Connie is a forager, searching to bring supplies to the settlement. When she's trapped by the Bugs, a hunter saves her. Jorg'k has been following her scent and knows she's his mate. When he rescues her, she thanks him with a solid hit from her bat. He is patient. He stalks her. When she runs from the settlement, he watches and waits. Can he convince her they truly belong together? When the Bugs swarm, will they survive so she can answer him?
