Kiyomi, Marcus and the rest of the Valkyrie crew have just started to settle into their new lives as regular citizens when a suspicious new threat surfaces. To protect their identities and futures, the whole team comes out of retirement in preparation to mete out another dose of Valkyrie justice. When the op turns deadly and leaves one of their own fighting for his life, they must band together to bring down the enemy—and then face the shocking truth about who was behind it all.

Kaylea loves to hear from readers, so please feel free to drop me a line and say hello.
I don't know how I missed this one. But here I am a couple of years later and now I'm finally finishing this series. This book is a wonderful series ending, and I am so glad to finally put this one to rest. As always, Kaylea Cross write action scenes like no other author can.
The Valkyries have finally vanquished their CIA creator and are now happily settling into their lives with the men who love them. Then a mysterious message is received that draws them back into the game, and it's personal for Kiyomi. A human trafficker who killed her "sister" and who she thought was dead is back in operation. There is no way the Valkyries are going to let this continue, but they are on their own with this one and the consequences could be deadly.
TAKING VENGEANCE is the sixth and final? Instalment in Kaylea Cross’s contemporary, adult VENGEANCE romantic suspense series focusing on a group of women once known as the Valkyrie-members of a secret CIA government project. TAKING VENGEANCE is an ensemble story line such that the Valkyrie’s and their spouses must work together to take down a human trafficking ring. The VENGEANCE series is a spin-off from the author’s HOSTAGE RESCUE TEAM series. TAKING VENGEANCE should not be read as a stand alone as the story line ties up a couple of open ended plot points.
SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier, an unsanctioned, secret CIA run project ‘stole’, brainwashed and trained a number of orphan girls in an effort to design the perfect killing machine known as the Valkyrie. The project was disbanded but the Valkyrie have since found themselves targeted by someone high in the organization, someone who is willing to kill to protect the secrets they know. Deadly operatives trained to work alone, each a specialist in a different field, the Valkyrie struggle when they find themselves losing their heart and falling in love.
Told from several third person perspectives including Kiyomi and Marcus TAKING VENGEANCE follows in the wake of an encrypted message received by hacker Valkyrie Amber Brown (Covert Vengeance), and her search for the person responsible. Amber has discovered that someone is looking into the whereabouts of the remaining Valkyrie members, but more specifically, doubling down on Kiyomi Tanaka. With the message received, the Valkyrie’s set into motion a plan locate and dismantle a human trafficking ring linked to Kiyomi’s past, a past that is about to come full circle the new revelations about a possible connection to the Valkyrie project but all does not go according to plan, and the team must face the possiblity of losing one of their own.
TAKING VENGEANCE is a fast paced, energetic and edgy story line. The reader is up close and personal with the lives of everyone in the months and years following the reconnection of the Valkyrie killing team. The characters are spirited, dynamic and passionate. The introduction of a new team player leaves the story and series, once again, open ended-perhaps the author has plans for something more
Once again this talented author delivers a story that not only grabs your attention from the first page to the last, but also keeps you on the edge of your seats. The Valkyrie ladies have dealt with a great deal of danger and heartaches and they thought all of that was behind them. But they were wrong. The human traffickers are now overseas. Can these strong women and their partners be able to once again overcome the danger and live to tell the story? Or will they lose one of those close to them? This was another story with an engaging plot, strong female characters and justice being searched. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
When an unknown threat is found stalking the Valkyries, they band together once more to not only seek out the danger to protect themselves and their loved ones, but also to stop a human trafficking ring that is somehow connected.
Kaylea Cross gifted readers a fabulous early Christmas Gift with Taking Vengeance! Not only do we get to spend time with the entire Valkyrie crew and their significant others, there is a shocking reveal that will have readers turning page after page to see how everything plays out.
As a huge fan of the series, it was awesome to see all of the ladies back in their element as they planned the op to take down the kidnapping ring. It was great seeing that their significant others also dove right in to continue supporting them.
The unknown threat was an amazing twist and fantastic suspense! The op itself was non stop action, especially when things slide slightly sideways. And, I loved the side stories as we caught up with each couple to add real depth to these characters and see how they are adjusting to life now they are attempting to live as civilians.
I adored everything about this book and the characters from the fact that these ladies are all deadly in their own right but choose to do good to the camaraderie and sisterhood that they share and the family they have created, not from blood, but from loyalty and love. 5 stars!
I’ve been a fan of Kaylea Cross for quite a while, so sometimes I feel like I say pretty much the same thing over and over about her books. But each book just seems to get better and better. I’ve loved the Vengeance series from the very beginning, and it only improves and becomes more intriguing the further you get into it. Suffice it to say that Taking Vengeance is one of my top picks of this entire series. While you could read it as a standalone title, there is so much that happens throughout the series referenced in this one you’d be doing yourself a huge disservice if you didn’t read all the books in order.
The gang is once again back at Laidlaw Hall for a complicated mission, and we catch up with each couple from the previous books in this one. I loved watching all the Valkyries move from isolated operators into a family throughout this series, and now, seeing how their relationship with each other brings them together to neutralize a threat against one of their own seemed like the perfect ending to a wonderful series. And the twists and turns had me up entirely too late because I just couldn’t stop reading.
I've been really excited for the return of the Valkyries and honestly Taking Vengeance didn't disappoint. As the team reunite at Laidlaw Hall for one last operation, but this time there is more at stake as the future they all fought so hard for looms large. But first they need to stop a trafficking ring and find out if the person tracking them and sending messages is friend or foe. And with edge-of-your-seat moments and lots of catch up with each couple this was an enthralling read with the perfect festive epilogue to round things off.
Taking Vengeance is I’m assuming the final Valkyrie book in the Vengeance series. I might suggest to hold on for the ride because as we know with these Valkyries, anything is possible and now that they’ve come out of retirement…I just have a feeling it’s going to be action-packed and full of adventure❣️
After the last showdown between the Valkyries and the Architect, the ladies all go their separate ways with their partners. Now a few months down the track, Amber receives a mysterious message that Lady Ada decodes, she urgently alerts the others and suggests meeting in the UK. It appears someone out there knows who they are and suddenly they are all coming out of retirement to fulfil a final mission of Vengeance😳
A great story and I loved catching up with these ladies and their partners and I hope we see these ladies in the future again somewhere😉 I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
I've been waiting for this book. I love this series, the action, the badass heroine and their cool significant others and of course the beautiful compound in the small village in London. Chloe and Heath will always be my favourite pair.
And why not 5 stars? Mostly, I blame my reading slump. For the past two weeks I could not finish one single book. Maybe I need distraction for a while or I need to be more selective to choose a book.
Taking Vengeance tells a story about a group of Valkyrie who being forced to out of their peaceful life to hunt down a human trafficking ring. Amber got an intel that someone has watching them.
There are a lot of POVs, even the bad guys have their POV. Sometimes it's confusing, but other times, it's refreshing because we could dive into everyone's mind. Unfortunately, this doesn't work 100% for me. For example, let's say there's a scene from A's POV, the next chapter is still the same scene but from different POV. I think that's what make the pace a little bit slower.
I was wondering if Kiyomi is Ms Cross's favourite character. As far as I recall, the entire series pretty much revolving around her. I like Kiyomi but I don't see any particular reason why she is the perfect Valkyrie. Sorry, but I don't pay attention much to her or Marcus.
The pace is a little bit slow. The action starts about 47%ish of the book. The story dance around about the heroes worrying about the heroine's safety and want to convince them to sit this one out and let the authorities take charge. Meanwhile the heroines pretty much determine to bring down the bad guy with their own hands (yup, I'm mostly talking about you Kiyomi).
It still one of my favourite series but I wish this special book would be more action and I expect the element of surprise.

As a gift for us Valkyrie fans, this author was so kind to give us one more story and I am so thankful! All of the Valkyries are back for one last mission, someone is searching their names on the dark web, and Amber is sent a mysterious encrypted email that triggers all of these women’s ingrained need to mete out Valkyrie justice against those who prey on the innocent. Even though they have suspicions that this may be a trap, they cannot let these human traffickers continue. As simultaneous ops were engaged, some of them are hurt and my heart hurt for them all. To say I was on pins and needles is an understatement. There were a few surprises and a few moments when I was choking back my emotions. The action-packed suspense had me riveted the whole time. It was wonderful to see all of these women who had gone through so much in their lives with the men who supports and loved them so unconditionally. The family they had all created with each other and the peace they finally achieved is so well deserved.
This was another great read by this author. This story was intriguing and suspenseful and had more than a few whopping surprises.
I really enjoyed the characters and I loved Megan and Ty together, he was perfect for her loyal & loving and understanding and willing to take her back time and time again no matter the consequences. . I love a story like this as it was fast-paced that kept you glued to the pages the entire time. The story also had your heart hurting and heart going out to Megan for what Megan's life is like on a daily basis especially when your life is on the line every day, looking over your shoulder constantly, not being able to trust a soul add not wanting to form attachments because of such life and learning that the betrayals started from your childhood just have you hurting even more.
Let's just say the mission is dangerous and only the strongest will survive but, just for a little while it would be nice to love and be loved in return even if your little fantasy only lasts a little while, the memories will be forever!
Just when the Valkyrie Sisters though all their struggles were behind them, they find out that they were wrong. These amazing tough women are once again in danger, but this time they have each other and their partners. The men are obviously not going to let them face this alone. It was great read another book in this series. I love these tough, independent butt kicking women. The emotions in this book were all over the place, I laughed Out loud and shed a few tears all in one page turn. Of course with a Kaylee Cross book there was extreme danger, insane adventure and a few twists and turns with a big surprise or two thrown in for good measure. I love how supportive they are of each other and how they really trust each other because of everything they have been through. Thank you Kaylee for always writing amazing books with well developed characters and detailed stories. I’m already excited about her next book!!
Going into this book, I wasn't sure what I was going to get. I haven't delved into the Vengeance Series with the Valkyries quite yet. But having only read Trinity and Brody's book I can tell you, I wasn't lost. There were some nuances that I definitely miss out on, but overall I got a really good understanding of the characters and their significant others.
This book brings the group back tighter again because of a threat that is possible to all of them. They come out of their "retirement" to fight again as a whole entity. You get little insights to the relationships that each couple have, and just how well they fit together. This kept me engaged and I couldn't put the book down. Reading this makes me want to go back and read each and every story so that I can understand just how the couples came to be.
I've been a fan of Ms Cross books for a long time, I've read them all but one and I have loved each and evey one of them and this was no different. It was great to have the Valkyrie ladies together again, this time with their husbands.
These women have had to endure so much already in their lives and have all finally found happiness and love. But when they receive a encripted message saying that a trafficking ring has been discovered, they once again team up to stop this. Meanwhile, they're trying to find out who's been sending these messages.
I guessed early on who did send the messages, but didn't know how it was going to turn out. Was it out of revenge or something else.....
You have to read it to find out, you won't be dissapointed. As usual it was a fast paced story, full of action and lots of love.
3.5 stars I really don’t know what to say. I am a big fan of Mrs. Cross and this was probably just me buuut, I had a hard time getting into the story. There was so many point of views it got confusing. You definitely need to read the books before this one. I loved the suspense and action. The closeness of the women. Now I’ll try to explain and not give anything away.
The Valkyrie women come together when they get a email. They have coordinates for a human trafficking ring. So the girls and their significant other plan one last mission while trying to figure out who is emailing them. But as the mission goes sideways, one of their own is fighting for their life. Can they all make it out and find out who has been keeping tabs on them?
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for the author *
Kaylea Cross has done it again with book 6 of the Vengeance series! The valkyries are back with their partners and are ready to kick butt and take names! Seeing them all back together again, the highs and lows but ultimately that family bond is riveting. It sucks you in and doesn’t let you out until you finish the book (which is probably why i had just had to finish the book in one sitting…). The women and their men, the whole family unit shows that not all family is blood and often the most tight knit are ones you can choose, they made their nothings something amazing. I’m so sad and hope to see them in the future and whilst i love all of the characters Megan and Tyler will always be my favourite! I adore Karas. I do wish we could have seen more into the future of them.
Taking Vengeance is the sixth book in the Vengeance series and I was really looking forward to read this book. It was absolutely fantastic! It was great to meet up with all the couples from the previous books in the series. When there is a threat against them the Valkyries all work together to end the threat. The suspense and twists and turns kept me reading till late at night and like with all books from Kaylea Cross I didn’t want it to end. Recommended to read the series from the start so you will get to know aal the characters. I received this arc from the author and this review is my honest opinion.
Welcome Back to Laidlaw Hall Valkyries Taking Vengeance is the book I didn’t know I needed. Cross brings us back to the world of the Valkyries. Action, suspense, heat, strong, powerful women and the men who love them…what more do you need in a book. Cross brings back all our favorite characters for another epic story of strength, love, redemption and hope. Just like all of her books, I couldn’t put it down. I loved how all the couples had equal billing and the storylines continue to feel fresh and give us the nostalgia we need. I’m so happy Kaylea Cross brought back the Valkyries for another hoorah.
The members of the Valkyries have overcome so much to try and put their dangerous pasts behind them and were looking forward to a much different future with the men they love. They are about to find out that this was not to be as their pasts resurface with a vengeance and they find themselves not only fighting for their lives but trying to help those who need it the most.
I really enjoyed revisiting the relationships not only between the couples but the deep friendships between the Valkyries as they take us on an intriguing, suspenseful and romantic journey that is everything you could want and more.
OMG! Another FANTASTIC story by Kaylea! I love it when all the girls get together for a mission! This mission was personal on so many levels. Meeting another Valkaryie was interesting in itself. Having one come back from the dead was intriguing. The mission was totally intense and heartwrenching when Heath and Kiyomi both got injured. It was truly thrilling being there when Trinity and Brody met their son for the first time and the Christmas scene was very heartwarming. I am happy that Ivy was able to reconnect with Kiyomi and all of the Valkyries. FANTASTIC job Kaylea! I would highly recommend this book!
This was a fitting conclusion to this amazing series of books as the Valkyrie Sisters are reunited on one final op. They broke up a human trafficing ring with their leader with the help of a secret source who gave them crucial information that greatly made it a bit easier. It was exciting to read the non stop action as they barely survived this op but were successful. They even discovered who their secret source was and could not be happier. In the end these Sisters found happiness and love with their husbands and children that they never expected would happen. I highly recommend this suspenseful romantic series.
So I read this amazing series back to back, barely coming up with many adequate words for how much I loved each book as I was so desperate to dive into the next book. This time I'm purposefully not going to say much, as I don't want to ruin a second of this action packed bonus book, as I know die hard fans would of been waiting a long time for it, instead of the mere minutes it took for me to post my review for the previous book. Just know that it was everything you were probably hoping for and more. I hope it's not the last time we see them.
On my gosh, just loved, loved, loved this story. Everyone is in it! It truly filled my heart because I am a fan of this series. But not only this series, but the others as well such as the Colbrooks. I hope this author continues with Ivy's story soon, maybe even a crossover into a brand new series! Chloe is so funny. There was so many heartwarming moments throughout! This author stories are always amazing because it has the right amount of action, passion and heartwarming scenes that keep you glued to the story. Bravo!!!
Wow! Just when you thought the series was over we get another twist, oh boy what a twist it was as well. I really wasn't sure where this one was gonna go, with cryptic messages heavily disguised and women being kidnapped. Edge of the seat breath holding action. Booms, toxins, snipers, techies, these women are lethal all on their own but put them altogether and their partners it's guaranteed to have Rycroff going even greyer. Tense, exciting, suspenseful and scary. The ultimate ending land despite a few worrying times a HEA. Wonderful epilogue just to finish on a lighter uplifting note.
Seeing them all together and bringing a list one home! The op was detailed and clear would have some things go wrong as so many has bad feelings, but the purpose and action were well developed and meant. The danger and harm had me in tears, but thankfully they dried quick with the HEA. Marcus is the real MVP and so is Rycroft with all they do in the background and when they disagree with the plan. Quick pace and fantastic characters, excellent end to a fantastic series!
The Valkyrie's are drawn back together when an unexpected threat arises. Deciding to take action against a group of human traffickers, these ladies and the men who love them band together to dish out their unique brand of justice. It was so great to catch up with so many characters fans have come to love. There's plenty of action, humor, and love with the perfect dose of suspense. The ending was perfect.
Wow, is this an epic ending to a series i think yes!!. Amber is getting messages about a kidnapping ring but there is someone behind it good or bad? Who is it. They are getting together one more time to finish this or is it a trap? I loved it. It was so good to see everyone together including the boyfriends. The suspense is off the charts the twits is so good. And the characters are as always super. Sad to see the go now. This is one very badass girlpower series.
I love going on another journey with the Valkyries and their partners, this one is centered around Kiyomi and Marcus. Going after a group of human trafficking people and trying to find out who is targeting them by sending information to them. Is it a trap laid by an enemy? It’s a great book that you need to grab. You can never go wrong with Kaylea’s books.
Taking Vengeance is yet more evidence, if you needed it, to show that Kaylea Cross is a 'one-click' author.
On this occasion, I'd highly recommend a knowledge of the Valkyries and their stories before heading in. It'll just make the reading experience so much richer.
In my opinion, there is nothing more compelling than kick a$$ women who not only look after themselves but 'stand' for women... The frustration that this serves up their men, is just an, often times, amusing side benefit!
Danger and deception. Mystery and intrigue. Suspense and romance. The bitchilantes ride again. New additions and new beginnings. Taking Vengeance, the long-awaited book in the Vengeance series, most definitely did not disappoint. Lots of action mellowed with just the right amount of romance and mystery. A should not be missed, perfect addition to the series. So very highly recommend.
