After the death of her father at age eight, Marvelous “Marvel” Stephens, was uprooted from her home to be raised by her father’s parents. As much as she adored her grandparents, her own need for companionship developed as the only child in the household. That all changed when troubled ten-year-old, D'usse “Duce” Phelps, and his uncle moved down the street. From the first point of contact, their friendship took off, causing the two to be inseparable. What seemed like an odd pairing to everyone was a match made for them. Marvel has always been aware of D'usse’s troubled upbringing, and it didn’t bother her in the slightest that she was his therapy. The more time they spent together, the more their feelings evolved. Now all grown up, the thirty-year-old operates her own laundry business. The lines are blurred between them, and the thought of what could be surfaces. Marvel wants more than a friendship, and D’usse wants his shot at forever. Will they take a leap and act on their feelings? Or will the new player arriving into town with his eyes set on Marvel, beat Duce to the punch? When soiled sheets are used other than going into the wash, all signs point to something much sinister lurking in the shadows.
I had absolutely no idea where this book was going at any point. There is a very broad trigger warning label in this book, but let me say these need to be explicitly stated: - rape - stalking - abduction - sex trafficking - bodily harm - physical abuse - body gore and mutilation - torture
I loved Duce that man was unhinged in a good way. I love everything him and his father stood for. The plot twists in this was not expected. Asia got revenge on the twins and they deserved everything that happened to them. I love the dad and Asia got their own HEA as well. Marvel was also stupid for forgiving her aunt she need to rot in hell with Lance and his bxtchass daddy.
Also there’s no reason for you not to know what team Curry plays on. He ain’t been traded not once.
If the sheets could talk they would call everyone in this book a looney tune 😆!! Baby why was it sooooo much going on in this book?!
Marvelous and D’usse were the ultimate friends to lovers! At just 10 years old they bonded over shared trauma and were attached at the hip since! Through love and loss it was always these two when the dust settles and now that they’re in the prime of adulthood, Duce is ready to shoot his shot and claim his best friend as his woman!
After years of sniffing behind her, they’re finally locked in and then things get weird. Marvelous had a stalker, trafficking enters the chat, serial killers appear, missing aunts resurface, people aren’t who they claim to be and this story takes on several plots of their own! And don’t let me forget the relationship between Asia and Duce’s father 😵💫😵💫😵💫Lawd have mercy!!
There’s no doubting that Wynta comes up with some amazingly unique storylines but someone needs to tell her to dial back a bit! We don’t need EVERY surface touched in the book. Save some for a different book 🥴
4.7⭐️ This ‘Friends to Lovers’ Romance, Suspense/Thriller most definitely DELIVERED!
🍿This book felt like I was watching a movie🎥 (this alone scored high points with me), Miss Wynta (Author) knew how to keep the flow going and most definitely kept me engaged!
➡️I was shocked at how cute Duce and Marvel were together. (With this being a romance as well, she didn’t skip a beat on giving us love 💗 and spice 🌶️). And that’s all imma say about them lol
👀And as always, everyone is a suspect lol you never know WHO to trust, and I love this aspect about this book (and the others that I’ve read by Wynta).
Okayyyy Duce was bae!!! You hear me!!! lol I like the book even though Marvel was annoying! Yeah I said it she got on my nerves especially with the whole aunt situation! You tried to kill me and my soulmateeee over a relationship that was 25 yrs ago or however long it was just didn’t make sense! So for that, I took a star😌 lol and Steph Curry is not on OKC get an editor next time or a better one!….
Oh. Em. Gee. You wrote your behind off with this one!!! It was SO GOOD! I literally could not put it down. I think the entire last 1/3 of the book I read with my mouth open! I was just stunned at everything going on and all the different pieces in play. This book was very well written! It was not the sweet friends to lovers novel I was expecting. The suspense-mystery aspect of this story was riveting! The characters were intertwined so well that when all the intricacies were revealed towards the end, my mind was blown! And that epilogue...Ms. Tyme I was about to throw my Kindle across the room! LOL! I wish I could give this book 10 Stars, it was that good to me! Great job!
Girl, this story needs to be in the big screen! I was in the edge of the couch, heart racing, hands shaking wondering what the hell was going to happen next. Whew, that imagination of yours is the truth, for real for real! I loved Duce and Marvel. Even when trying to hide their feelings from each other, I could feel the love rising from the pages. If you want a drama, a thriller and a love story, this is it! 👍👍👍
I love a good mystery and this release did not disappoint! Those plugs were on point! Lol Every single time I thought I had it figured out, I was hit with more clues that redirected me to a new suspect. As much as I enjoyed the suspense, the sensational lust & sex was everythang! Duce is dat dude! Marvel handled that BDE like a pro! Having them get the HEA was the best part. Another great one by Wynta!
Wynta!!!!!!! I thought I was going to have to label you as a murderer too, lol! You had me scared for a minute with all the crying and ish. I was like "Ah naw, Lord whyyyyyy? Why lord?!!! I did not see any of what I read coming. Like not at all. This was a wonderful read!
I really enjoyed this story and could not put it down. I didn’t expect any of the secrets that were revealed. I thought my boy Duece was a goner for a minute and I’m glad you didn’t do that to us. Overall an edge of your seat, interesting read.
Babyyyyy you never disappoint me! Idk where you been all my life but now that I have you here I can’t let you go! This book was good af !! Every time I thought I had it figured out it was a slight plot twist! Everyone got what they deserved! I’m glad who you made seem unalive actually wasn’t and the ones who NEEDED to be unalived kicked the bucket! They had Marvel , Duce , Mama Nancy, Pop Pop, Asia & even Castello messed up!!! Asia a BEAST I knew she wasn’t overreacting about the Lance character. Black men with blue eyes?! Yeah RED FLAG sis lol RUNNNNNNNNN !! But where them whorish twins go ?! Lol did Asia bodybag and toe tag their behinds?! Haha since Sam “wanna go out like a gangster”?! Overall, GREAT book and I highly recommend
Let's just get into it...The beginning of this book is crazy. This man sitting there really talking about how little his dick is and how he can make up for it in tongue??? Like sir lol. Then you kill the women. Let's start there. Then I was confused Who was the man in the hoodie all of them different times? Was it the dad or was it the Creepy guy? Duce was a great guy for her. The aunt and the cousins.... I don't know what to say about that. But then the dad comes in and he is like there - there, with Asia. This was chaos and my heart was in my ass when I thought that D'usse had died. Thanks for the save because I almost threw this book across the room after that.

This book definitely ramped up in the suspense towards the last third of the book. I was immediately grabbled at the beginning with the prologue but I did end up dragging a little as the book started. The MMC, Duce, did give me weird vibes at first and I thought there were some ulterior motive for his adult relationship with the FMC, Marvelous. This is a friends to lover story that has some underlying dark scandals at play but it worth a read. The ending is not what I expected and had me flipping through the the last few pages at a record pace.
I finished this book with mixed feelings. While I enjoyed the suspense tied in with the romance, I feel like I read multiple story lines that should have blended together but didn't. Character traits weren't consistent and that made it hard to genuinely connect with them. I finished with too many unanswered questions and from my understanding, we received the complete storyline for the main characters, but they felt incomplete to me.
This one was wilddddddddd! I probably would not have guessed the plot twist at all. But all family ain’t familyyyy so 🤷🏽♀️. Also why tf did they keep leaving Marvel alone lol that was literally my thoughts throughout this whole book 😂🤦🏾♀️. My second thought was damn Duce really was down for Marvel til the wheels fell off 🥹🥹 I need me one! Their love story was super cute, I’m happy they got their own little happy family 🥰
This book was a roller coaster ride! While I love a fast-paced story, this one would have been even better if certain aspects were expanded on a bit more. Everything connected and made sense, but it still felt a little messy at times. It’s not a bad book by any means—there was just so much happening that I could never predict where it was headed. That said, I really enjoyed how the ending unfolded; a good plot twist is always a win for me!
This was something different the beginning of the book was basic Sexual Assault and Rape. Then the man talking about some she looked shocked when she first pulled down my pants like the other women I killed. I know I have a pinkie size penis but Amma shoved it in her like it’s 11inch.
Like hellloooooo
The only person who saved this book is Dueces.
I really wish a real voice narrator would have cover it I feel like the SmUtties would have sounded lesss harsh
Well first gotta say loved the cover of the book. It was what drew me in first and the I read the first and was like WTF what's going here. Not at all what I expected when reading this story about Marvel and Duce. I just thought this was going to be a cute little childhood friends to lovers book. Nope I got that and them some.
I was a little skeptical but this book was good it had it al, it made you laugh, cry, mad, and the suspense job well done just wanted to know what happened to uncle Jeffrey he wasn’t mentioned after Duce grew up…..and Linda why should she want Marvel to be subjected to that…. She was still a victim she had to assimilate to her environment to survive
With editing and a solid timeline this could be a great book. The store is just to all over the place. I wanted to give it a 3 so bad because it was honestly a good twist at the end I just wish the author would’ve slowed the story down and built the suspense. Added a few scenes and removed others.
Wow, I really enjoyed this story. It was very well written and flowed nicely. I liked Marvel and Duce. She had a good heart and he was super protective. Great job, Wynta Tyme! I look forward to reading your next release.!
So many different things were happening …The story was all over the place and the path was unclear until the end … A very unique love story.. that talked about different ideas that people can experience. I listened to it on audible so that virtual voice was not a win for me😵💫
I had no idea where this book was going but it turned out to be so good. My heart sank at the gravesite visit. I’m so glad my assumption was wrong. It was good to see Duce and his dad mend their relationship.

I enjoyed Marvelous and Duce's story. The book did move fast, but I did not want to put the book down. I would have love to seen more of the story for Duce's father and his new love. Oh, and the spice was nice. Lol
The beginning was definitely not what I expected based on the synopsis. I had to go back and read the synopsis again. Good book and definitely some good surprises.
A very unhinged book that I absolutely loved! At times, there were a lot of moving parts, but I think Wynta did a good job with bringing all of the pieces together.
This on my DNF list. This book is insane, it’s so sexually violent and I’m really not seeing how this element adds to the plot. I am very disturbed tbh😂
