A warm-hearted, fun filled rom-com novella laden with love, music...and cats.

When his ringing doorbell wakes Devlin Jones from a post birthday party hangover, he finds a beautiful singing telegram dressed as a kitten on the other side. She leaves him intrigued and confused in equal measures. His mysterious songstress has the voice of an angel and the devil's own temper to match.

Katherine 'Kat' Grant has one dream, and that's singing. To achieve it, she needs admission to the exclusive Perdies College of Music. Kat's adolescent years were difficult, being dependant on the charity of others left her with a fierce independent streak and a loathing of special treatment. She'll succeed on her own merits without anyone's help, especially the cheeky, alluring Devlin who seems to have squeezed himself into every aspect of her life.

Devlin knows he has the power to make all of Kat's dreams come true. But wielding that power means he could lose her forever.

Can a charismatic cat loving hero and his sassy stubborn singer find their own love song?

I was born in England. My parents loved to travel as my dad spent many years in the navy. By the time I reached the age of 12 we had traveled pretty much around the world on cruise ships.
This sounds fun and exciting unless like me you can get sea sick sitting in a bathtub. Lets just say boats do not feature highly in my books.
I still love to travel, but I use planes. All of my life I have written stories in my head. I would rewrite and add characters to TV shows, edit and change novels I was reading, invent scenarios and scenes to amuse myself on long journeys. But strangely I never wrote any of them down. About three years ago I woke up with a scene so clear in my head I knew I had to put it down on paper. Now, what should I do with this one page of prose? I know, I will email it to some friends. The friends approved, in fact they asked what book it was from. I shyly admitted it was my own work and the reaction was immediate...please write the next bit! I did and I have not stopped writing since.

I loved Kat’s determination to earn her place at the prestigious music college. Growing up tough, she’s not the kind of person to accept handouts or favours, especially when there might be strings attached. So, when she’s accepted for interview and discovers the singing telegram recipient is in fact the owner of said prestigious school, she’s torn between accepting and wanting to run away as fast as she can.

Intensely private, Devlin Jones is used to people, especially women, trying to impress him. Perhaps that’s why Katherine intrigues him. She doesn’t care who he is or what he could do to help her achieve her dreams. And the young woman is talented, he has no doubts about that. But keeping their relationship professional is going to be challenging, because he knows if he oversteps, he’ll never see her again.

There are secondary characters in this story who I loved, and maybe if I hint enough, they might get their own story too.  However, Purrfect Pitch will be like catnip for all those who love a sweet and funny (and furry) romance. Another beautiful, sweet story from Ms Wren.

This is a story about music and love. It’s a story about wanting to make it in the system and to make it on your own. I’m making this sound like a little deeper story than it is, but I will say it has a different setting which makes reading it more fun.

This is about a young woman who wants to make it in the music field. She wants to be a singer, a trained singer, and she wants to achieve that by going to a prestigious music school. Through some supposed event she happens to meet and of course...you got it...fall in love with the head and owner of the school.

Both characters are well-defined. You can picture them hiding in the wardrobe hugging in his office at school. And that’s a picture of what this book is. It’s cute. It’s a feel-good story with some pretty strong characters wanting to get what they want in life. Enjoyable read.

Purr~Fect Pitch was a delicious, cheeky romance that grabbed me right from the first page. Following the sexy protagonist along her journey, as she strives to better her situation in life, was a joy to read.
And seriously, any man who adores cats like our handsome lead Male, is guaranteed to steal my heart. Fun, energetic and sexy! Another Five Star mourish novel by the award winning Carolyn Wren.

While this was fairly well-written, it lacked tension and conflict. The situations were too contrived, especially when it came to Kat's final test. The most interesting characters were the twin brothers. Also, there was not enough sense of place. I was a third of the way through the book before I realized it was set in Australia. The location of the school in Claremont led me to believe it was set in Southern California.

From the darling little meet-cute (short as it was), to the adorable ending (including the epilogue), this was a cute, fun romance. The characters occasionally fell flat, and the entire premise was a bit hard to swallow. But the verbal sparing between the two main characters was delightful.
