Another Cornish book by Phillipa Ashley, including the archeologist Rose searching for her bone marrow donor, learning to know two boatbuilding brothers and several other people from the Cornish village.

Several incidents and complications lead to a happy end of course, but till it comes to this, the descriptions tend to drag, while the end is too short, and I would have liked to know more about various people and incidents. On the whole a lovely summer read.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as other reads from this author. As always, I loved the seaside setting and the gradual romance developing in the story. However, I felt disconnected from the Morvah brothers and thought the narrative needed more insight from their perspectives as the plot develops.

Ashley grabs the readers at the very beginning with Rose’s harrowing tale. At the start of the book, Rose is literally at her death bed and I thought the writing was really emotional and absorbing. As you would anticipate from this genre of book, Rose does survive and I liked seeing the optimism towards the future. Yet, after the death of her beloved grandmother, Rose reassess what she wants from life and makes the move to the Cornish coast.

Although this coincides with Rose’s work project, she is also keen to discover who it was that saved her life so many years ago. Therefore, the story is a combination of the myths and legends around the archaeological dig that Rose is overseeing, and the attempt to reveal who has changed her life forever. Personally, both stories have enough merit to be novels on their own so maybe this is why I didn’t enjoy the book as much: I think each plot could have been developed further.

I loved reading about the shop Rose comes to live above and those involved with it. Furthermore, the regatta sounded great fun and I could vividly picture the whole community coming together – plus how serious the sandcastle competition could become! References to King Arthur added a touch of magic to the story, combined with how Rose values life in such a precious way. Her costume was perfect for her character at the regatta and this really epitomised the community of Falford.

The Morvah brothers seem quite dishy and attractive. Indeed, Rose is drawn to both of them and cannot help but wonder who is connected to her life. There are some chapters from their perspective but I think Ashley could have capitalised on this further so readers could see more into their personalities. In addition, I would have liked to understand more about Finn’s connection with the late artist, and Joey’s reputation as a ladies’ man. I think this added to why I felt disconnected from Rose’s relationship with both brothers and was not completely convinced by the concluding romance.

Despite this, Ashley takes readers on a Cornish holiday with plenty of sea, boats and laughter. The characters are all very likeable and Ashley’s writing style is vivid and atmospheric. Whilst this is not my most favourite of her books, I still really enjoyed the plot development and what happens to Rose’s character.

With thanks to Avon books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A wonderful story set in a beautiful location. Philippa Ashley writes such heartwarming stories with engaging characters and the scenic backdrop of Cornwall just adds to the overall ambience.
Rose’s story is really emotional and I loved how we followed her journey. The inclusion of the boat building and myths and legends of the area were fascinating and when added to the wonderful mix of characters made this is a brilliant read.

Phillipa Ashley is the queen of Cornish settings!  Grab a brew, sink into a chair and set off to Cornwall and follow Rose as she sets off determined to find the man who saved her life with a transplant.

So easy to picture the boatyard, Rose's view from the flat and Oriel's shop. Perfect escapism....get me there!

This is a lovely women's fiction/romance book, which is the perfect summer read. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The story is about Rose, who is an archaeologist, and we see her journey to finding out who donated bone marrow to her when she was very sick. They saved her life, and she wants to thank them. She sets out on a visit to Cornwall, and here she finds friendship, romance and new beginnings, as well as the closure she needs to her past.

I loved all the different aspects of the story, such as the adventure, the medical parts, the spiritual aspects, the myths and legends, archaeology, boat building and how to sail. It was fascinating to learn about all these things inside a lovely story with beautiful characters and perfect scenery.

If you are looking for a heartwarming and uplifting summer story that will warm your heart, then you will love this sweet story! Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

An easy read with some scenes that had poignant issues.
This had the author's classic style of descriptive writing
slightly slow for me, but I got to know the characters.
Overall, an enjoyable read

This was a beautifully written book. The research that must have gone into every single subject must of been immense. Boat building, cornish myths, archeology, sailing and medicine. I certainly learnt a lot. Then to bring all of that into a plot line about friendship, family and love is amazing.
Rose is a character that has been through a lot and this is about her quest to say thanks to her donor for saving her life and giving her another chance, however it felt to me that throughout the book she was the one doing all the helping. She had such a positive attitude and really wanted to help people that every person she interacted with she had an impact on. Oriel is a fantastic character and I became really invested in her tours and rooting for her to beat Nigel at what ever game he was up to.
The friendship between Rose and Joey was really nice and I liked how she helped him examine his true self enabling him to be with Lauren and also build bridges with his brother Finn. Finn and Rose are drawn to each other right from the start and waited eagerly for them to get together, I think I was just as relived as they were in that moment when they finally voiced all their feelings.
Some wonderful characters and some great escapism to Cornwall.

The first in a gorgeous new series “A Perfect Cornish Summer” by Phillipa Ashley. I am glad I decided to try a Women's Fiction for a change from mysteries as it was a very entertaining, easy read.

Rose Vernon is headed to a quiet Cornish village – to find the man who saved her life.

I visited Cornwall 4 years ago the way this is written I was transported back and could picture it in full colour. The author was good at describing the every day life in a Cornish harbour town. Learning about boat building and Cornish myths and legends was fascinating as well.

I found the characters to be well developed, and multi-dimensional. There were lots of twists and turns and multiple sub-plots to keep you engaged and interested in the outcome. I will definitely read other books by this author.

I requested and received an advanced readers copy Courtesy of NetGalley and Avon publishing. All opinions are my own.

I read this book in two sunny sittings in the garden. It was a joy from beginning to end.

The storyline had a serious moral thread to it, with a dash of friendship with a full heaping of Cornish romance.

Cornwall is a beautiful setting for a book regardless but the way that the descriptions were written here made you truly imagine you could be there!

I really grew to feel attached to Rose and her story. I loved the ending and how it all came together.

“The mermaid was hanging around the boatyard again.” An Endless Cornish Summer by Philipa Ashley

Been curious about this author’s books for a long time. And now that I’ve read this book... well, let’s just say my tbr has a lot of other books there that will keep me occupied...to the next century.

It’s not bad. It’s ok. It has an interesting premise: a recipient of a bone marrow donation, Rose went to where she thinks her donor is, to find out more of him, to thank him for his life-changing decision to donate. She is guided by a postcard sent to her by him. So she sorta stalks (well, it’s light stalking) the family who she suspects is her donor a part of. Then she meets the brothers. And ends up falling for one of them.

It’s set in a charming fishing village in Cornwall. Which makes me want to visit it. And the supporting characters are great. And I guess the brothers are too. Rose is a little bland for me, was a bit detached from her.

And this felt a tad tame too. 😂 Oh well. I guess I’m craving for thrills and chills in reading this week.

Thank you Avon Books UK and NetGalley for this arc. This book will be out June 24, 2021.

Lovely story, amazing life-like characters and very entertaining plot.

I thought the occupations of the characters were very interesting. I know nothing about sailing, but have always thought it seemed like a great escape and it was a joy to experience it in this book. In addition, working as an Archaeologist is a career that I always thought would be so fulfilling. Therefore, to have these two occupations in this book was definitely a plus for me.

It was a delight to read the journey of the two main characters finding each other and building toward a life together. After both of them not thinking they had much to look forward to in the future, to them finding such a strong connection made me so happy for them. The secondary characters were much more than that. Each one made a contribution to the story, are fully developed, and I miss all of them and this quirky little village since finishing the book.

The themes of the book are being grateful, living your life to the fullest, and of course finding true love on the way.

I want to thank NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me the pleasure of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

I absolutely loved everything about this book! Rose Vernon has survived a life threatening illness with a bone marrow transplant.

After a loss she decides to contact the donor and after some clues from the stationary she travels to Cornwall to a small town to get close to them. She also is an archaeologist and has a dig nearby as to not look like a creeper.

She has narrowed it down to two men in town. This town is small and after finding a place to let she is swept up in the small town life and gets really close to everyone.

I love these small town, romantic summer stories! There was a bit of a love triangle, there was boat making, a King Arthur dig, a fun astrology shop, storms, so much! I had so much fun in this book!

I really loved Finn but everyone wants Joey. We all know those brothers.

I am thinking of getting this for my cousin who reads my posts I think lol. Her beautiful daughter had a liver transplant when she was two and everyday is a miracle of life. And writing the donor's family was a bittersweet endeavour since their loved ones' life was lost tragically young. This story is about a living donor which is an awesome gift! PSA consider signing up to be a donor esp for blood I think there's a shortage right now but def for organ or bone marrow.

Thank you avon books and net galley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

An Endless Cornish Summer - Phillipa Ashley

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books and I am leaving this review voluntarily

For Rose, every day is a gift. She narrowly survived a life-threatening illness and owes everything to her anonymous donor. Determined to thank him, Rose follows a trail of clues that lead her to the little Cornish fishing village of Falford.

But things become complicated when Rose is drawn into local life, becoming involved in the legendary Falford Regatta and meeting the handsome Morvah brothers – one of whom might just be the man she’s looking for. But which one?

I read this book in one sitting and it was a joy to read from start to finish. With themes such as archaeological study, myths, legends and boats there is something for everyone.

I enjoyed reading about all of the characters and their relationships, I was definitely drawn in by Rose’s courage and determination following her transplant. Ashley has a real talent for describing locations in such a vivid way that they are so easy to imagine.

Rating 4/5

I hope that this book raises awareness of the benefits to being a donor.

All the warm and fuzzy feels. This is a perfect sunny day with a cool glass of lemonade read.
Rose has has a rough go of it with a disease that required a bone marrow transplant and once she recovers, she follows the clues to try to find her donor to thank him or her. One day she gets an anonymous response to her letter, she goes in search of the writer to thank them in person for saving her life, which take her to the quaint little town of Cornwall. Rose gets drawn into life in this little town, renting an apartment over the local magic store and joining in the regatta and developing relationships with 2 very hot brothers-one of which could very well be her donor.
I really liked how well the characters were developed and the depths of the research into the archaeology was quite fascinating. There was also lots of research done into the boating lifestyle and for her disease.
This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last. A great escape to my fav part of the world.

I throughly enjoyed my Cornish summer escape and I didn't want to leave. It just sounded idyllic. This is a heartwarming story with romance. A perfect summer read.

Rose receives a life saving donation. She pieces together clues which lead her to a Cornish fishing village of Falford. She wants to thank her donor, but she needs to figure out which one he is.

The setting was just stunning. I found the boat building and cornish myths and legends fascinating. There were so many fabulous characters. As friendships develop Rose finds herself drawn into the community, making it more and more difficult to tell the residents why she is really there.

This is a poignant and moving story. It's also thought provoking, raising awareness of the importance of stem cell donation. Everyone on the register makes a difference.

Thank you to Avon Books and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love novels set in Cornwall. I’ve always enjoyed Phillipa Ashley novels – put the two together and it’s a winner!
Unusual plot for the romantic storyline, and set very much within boats and sailing, you can almost taste the salt on the pages. Well written, well plotted, and just thoroughly enjoyable.
I tucked my Kindle in my handbag, and read it every spare 5 minutes at work, thankfully leaving 37% of it to finish on a weekend in one fell swoop. Wished there was more.

This book, for me, took a bit of getting into.
Rose, an archaeologist, is looking for the bone marrow donor who saved her life. She finds a room in Falford, close to the dig she is working on and to the person she thinks is her donor.
She meets Finn and Joey who are the two likely candidates and soon fits in with village life.
The story is somewhat predictable and not the best of the series of book.
A little disappointing

This like other books by the author is set in Cornwall and is described beautifully.
The characters are all interesting and there are several themes within the book (archaeology, boat building & stem cell donation). I would imagine a great deal of research went into these elements as it all seemed perfectly believable.
This was a thought provoking book that also had friendship and romance in it.
A perfect summer staycation read.

This is an inspirational book which shows how important it is to live life to the full and make the most of any opportunities. Rose Vernon’s life was saved by a bone marrow donor and she has the possible chance to thank them when she goes to work as an archaeologist in Cornwall. She’s followed all the clues she can find and it seems the donor lives in the seaside village of Falford, not far from the dig she’ll be working on. She suspects he is one of the Morvah brothers, but is uncertain which one . . . . An unexpected encounter enables Rose to actually stay in the village where she makes new friends and becomes involved in the local community and events. Will she identify her donor? What other surprises will this summer bring?

What a delightful read this proved to be. It is a moving story, dealing beautifully with some sensitive issues. The amount of research the author must have done on so many different aspects is impressive and shows through so many of the engaging but informative scenarios in the story. It is a lovely story to escape into, one which is centred on a delightful, coastal community where the author’s love of all things Cornish shines through. There are so many great characters, including one to dislike and others who win you over. There’s historic finds, sailing, boatbuilding, tasty treats, a regatta and so much more in this story that leaves you with a huge smile on your face and happy memories of all that happens in it. I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending it and look forward to reading more by this skilled author in future.

Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

If you are a regular here, you know just how much I adore Phillipa Ashley’s writing, but his latest one just didn’t hit the spot for me. Ashley has such a way of evoking a place, but the Cornwall in this book felt flat. The characters, well-rounded but not believable. Everything just tied too nicely into one big bow.

The first 10% of the book was rough and I wondered if it was the formatting issues that contributed towards that. Mostly, it just seemed stilted and unnatural. The formatting of the dialogue got confusing at times as well. The plot is OK. It has an interesting premise: a recipient of a bone marrow donation, who is guided by a postcard to Falford. This is when the big bow element comes in though and everything gets tied up rather nicely at the end. For me, it just made the whole situation unbelievable, however wonderful it may be.

The character of Rose is a little bland for me and I was a bit detached from her. The character of Oriel on the other hand I found fascinating and I would love another book entirely about her. The book took me a while to get into and feels predictable. It’s certainly not the best in the series.

A nice easy beach read, but there are better Phillipa Ashley’s to start with.

Archaeologist Rose goes to work on a dig in Cornwall secretly looking for a stranger who saved her life. After severe illness and the loss of her beloved grandma she takes the opportunity to travel to Falford with both hands. There, she is met by a warm and tightknit community of unique characters who provide shelter, friendship, romance and an eagerness to teach Rose everything about her new surroundings.

The Morvah brothers who own the local boat yard hold a special significance for Rose. However, despite growing feelings for one of them, she holds a secret close to her heart that could change everything.

This latest novel from Phillippa Ashley was such a treat, filled with mystery, romance, sailing the Cornish coast and delving into the folklore of this magical place. An Endless Cornish Summer captures everything great about Cornwall and leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling.

The writing is beautiful and incredibly well researched making the story informative as well as romantic and mysterious. Main character Rose has a friendly, optimistic nature which draws you in and the friends she makes are just as engaging.

This is one of my favourite reads this Summer.
