The astonishing second compilation of striking images taken from the Morphia series, with colored-in examples Kaleidomorphia is a stunning second compilation of Kerby Rosanes's most remarkable artwork from his beloved mega-bestselling Morphia series. This collection, just like the first, Colormorphia , features a full-color sixteen-page section that showcases some of the most accomplished completed artworks produced by Kerby's fans. These pages demonstrate the range of approaches colorists can experiment with when coloring.
The artworks displayed in the color section are included in the black-and-white section of the book, too, giving the reader the opportunity to duplicate the approach should they wish. In addition, there are a variety of images to color featuring the very best from Kerby's Morphia portfolio.
Philippines-based illustrator Kerby Rosanes works mainly with ordinary black fine liners to magically illustrate his “doodle” world. Considers his art as a personal hobby which turned out to be his part-time freelance work after being recognized by various design blogs, international magazines and online art communities. Most of his works are characterized by whimsical lines, patterns, characters and little elements that are spontaneously combined to create massive compositions depicting his everyday inspirations or scenes from his quirky imagination.
Kaleidomorphia, offered as a ‘coloring challenge’ is a large coloring book that combines some opening text with many different and diverse images.
The author’s innovative approach to coloring offers the reader/artists (called ‘Colorists’ in the text) samples and discusses how colors and techniques allow for different effects. The opening offers us hints and ideas; from the use of different mediums like acrylics, or the careful selection of a limited palette, to create a certain effect.
This informative opening leads into the most amazing line drawings. The subject matter ranges from animal and scenics to fantasy and the fantastic. The level of detail in each page is astonishing.
To sit and page through slowly, even without coloring, allows one to escape into a quiet dream world, where lines become designs then somehow transform back into the initial subject. Many of the pictures come from a realist’s perspective although some do also have a simpler, or more cartoon-like quality.
I found Kerby Rosanes’s Kaleidomorphia a wonderfully enjoyable diversion and recommend it to all fans of coloring books.
I love these coloring books. I can’t draw well, but colors are important to me. I love deciding how to enhance the drawings with colors of my choice. It stimulates your creativity. I particularly liked the section in this book where finished colored plates by readers were displayed. Some of them were truly wonderful and provided inspiration.
Some people have complained about the repetition of plates from other books. I thought it was a great idea. It gave me a chance to try new color schemes on the plates I’d already done.
I highly recommend this coloring book. It can be relaxing to fill in these wonderful pictures. It always makes me feel more creative and even spills over into other work.
This is my second Kerby Rosanes coloring book. The first was the beautiful Fragile World. And Kaleidomorphia is just as beautiful but with a fantasy flair!
I opened it up and marveled at the artwork. There is no way I can do these pictures justice with my coloring skills, lol. But that won't stop me!
Rosanes also had talented colorists color some of the pages. He included them at the front of the coloring book along with where to find each artist online and his thoughts on their techniques
Loved this coloring book so much! It is so detailed and beautiful. The images are stunning! Everyone who loves to color will be taken on an adventure with the pictures. There is something for everyone! It is so fun to color in this book! The paper in the book is thick and perfect for coloring. A Must have book!
I love the line work and subject matter of the coloring book. I have fun coloring the pages and the time just flies by. Highly recommend this coloring book.
