Torpedo Ink #6

Annihilation Road

Rate this book
All paths lead to destruction in the new Torpedo Ink novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Savin "Savage" Pajari is convinced he's not worth a damn thing. He's not like his brothers. He's a sadistic monster, a killer--a man no woman could truly love. So it completely throws him when a stranger risks her life for his, pushing him out of the way and taking the hit that would have sent him six feet under. If he had any kind of sense, he'd leave her alone, but Savage can't get the woman with a smart mouth and no sense of self-preservation out of his head. With one kiss, he's lost.

Seychelle Dubois has spent her entire life not feeling much of anything, until Savage comes along and sets her whole body on fire. Kissing him was a mistake. Letting him get close would be a catastrophe. He's the most beautiful--and damaged--man she's ever met. He has a way of getting under her skin, and what he's offering is too tempting to resist.

Seychelle knows so little about Savage or the dangerous world of Torpedo Ink, but his darkness draws her like a moth to a flame. Loving him could mean losing herself completely to his needs--needs she doesn't understand but is eager to learn. But what Savage teaches her could destroy her.

Series: Torpedo Ink #6
Rating: 1 star - Not for me

DNF 58%

Trigger warnings: Cheating. Stalking, Discussions of human trafficking, rape and torture.

This book started really well. I was enjoying seeing Savage fall head over heels for Seychelle. His dominant lifestyle was still being worked out between them though when this book went downhill quickly. About 45% through this book Savage cheats. It made me instantly hate Savage and want nothing to do with this book anymore, which is why I am stopping.

I have had some issues with this series from Feehan, but having a character cheat is an instant turn off for me. It has really made me question if I will read any more of this series.

These books are just samey-same rehashed stories with insert name here brother or sister starring in it. The "our childhood didn't allow us to have boundaries so YOU are now allowed to have no boundaries" shtick is wack and tired. The "we're meant to be together so OBVIOUSLY anything I want to do to you is acceptable cuz universe says it's so" is giving off r*pey vibes. And now she's just copying and pasting from all of her series. Shadow series with the BDSM, Dark and Game series with people/musicians who can use their voices to control, "help", or manipulate others. If this was my first introduction into any of Feehan's worlds, I'd probably be intrigued. As one who's been there from the beginning, it's lather, rinse, repeat. The only reason for two stars is that I still want to read Lana's story even knowing it'll be a wash day of a book.

Savage runs with a biker gang known as Torpedo Ink. They are in fact more like family since they all went through something very horrible as children. They have each others backs and celebrate when a member finds their one person. Savage is a killer and a sadist but he's that way because the people who kidnapped him and killed his family made him that way. He never thought he'd find a woman who would love him because he's very broken.

Seychelle has a gift that lets her heal people somewhat or at least help them live longer if they are very sick. She can also feel what they are feeling and help if they are anxious, mad, or feeling other emotions. She's a singer but there's a guy who thinks he controls where and when she can sing and she's not happy about it. So when some of the guys of Torpedo Ink ask her to sing at their club, she says she'll think about it.

Seychelle runs into Savage when she spots him trying to save a child from getting hit by a vehicle but he's not gonna make it out of the way in time until she pushes him out of the way and gets hurt herself. Savage can't believe someone risked their life for him so he goes to the hospital to see her and is instantly attracted to her which doesn't ever happen to him. He tries to leave her alone because he knows he's broken and any woman who he ends up with is going to have to deal with his demons.

They spend time together and Savage is pretty upfront with her about what he needs but she knows because she catches glimpses of what he does when the rage in him gets to be too much and he needs a release. Each member of Torpedo Ink was trained from a young age to be killers and their paranormal gifts were honed and they were trained to use them which helped them survive the hell they were put through. Now they seek out pedophiles so they can save the child victims and kill the offenders. That's what they've been doing in some of the other books. Unfortunately, all of the members are a little messed up mentally because of how they were raised and the abuse, torture, and hell they went through as children.

Seychelle has made enemies of a couple of different guys because she wasn't easily persuaded and helped a woman who was in trouble and now a couple of guys have her in their sights. So while Savage and Seychelle are getting to know each other better the club members are also keeping her safe.

This is the 6th book in the Torpedo Ink series and I have been looking forward to this book the most because Savage seems like the most broken. He's a sadist, his nick name is whip master for a reason. There are actually going to be two books just about Savage because one book couldn't do him justice and I'm looking forward to that one as well even though I have a feeling it will be more in-depth in regards to Seychelle and Savages relationship and how he's "training" her to like and accept the pain that he needs.

This book and this series isn't for everyone. The guys can be crass, rude and rough because they use a lot of bad language and can be quite graphic. Because of all these things I wasn't sure that this series was going to be for me but I just keep coming back to read each book because I've gotten to know these characters and what they've been through and how hard they've tried to put the torturous childhood they had to some use and when they find that one person they were meant to be with, it's nice to see them get a little happiness in their lives for once.

This isn't an easy read but Savage is so much more than a sadist. He's also a guy who cares a lot about his club members. We get to see what his gift is and how he's been using it without them even knowing it. After that bombshell explodes, we see why Savage is so full of rage and in need of an outlet to release it. I would definitely read this series in order otherwise you might be a little lost.

Disclosure: I was given an E-arc of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don't think I have ever given a Feehan book this low a rating and it makes me so sad to do it. I love the Road series, but this one is one long ramble on what Savage needs...ad nauseum. Hardly any story line and what there is, seems fractured. I love the STORY part and this book just didn't deliver it for me.

Annihilation Road is the 6th book in the Torpedo Ink series and it’s part one of Davin Pajari a/k/a “Savage” and Seychelle’s story. This first book brilliantly set of the backstory of the two main chatacters. Savage is such a complicated and tortured character who needs his story fully told and it’s no wonder it will take two books to do justice to his experiences.

Similar to his fellow Torpedo Ink brethren, Savage was “raised” in an orphanage in Russia wherein daily brutality and horrid torture broke many of the children. Now adults, the seventeen TI members, all trained assassins with nightmare memories of their own, have banded as a MC club and settled in an idyllic sea side town near Sea Haven

Savage has a propensity for violence. Although a sexual sadist, he hates being touched and feels nothing but self loathing and welcomes death as he runs out in front of an oncoming truck to save a child. But instead of the Angel of death, salvation appeared in the form of small woman who pushed him and the small boy in his arms to safety.

Seychelle Dubois is such a remarkable woman with healing gifts that beckons Savage’s shredded soul back to the light. It is no easy job, Savage needs a lot of emotional and mental work. But when their eyes connected as she lay injured, Savage felt his dying soul ignite with life. Despite trying to stay away, Savage is drawn to Seychelle; he can’t forget her.

It was great to touch base with other members of the club, especially with the club’s president Czar and his wife Blythe who have rescued and adopted five children from the horrors of being sex trafficked and abused. I fear these children will grow up as broken adults, their nightmares following them into adulthood. But it’s a blessing these abused children have the love, guidance, and protection of the club.

The slow build to this relationship was beautifully done. I am rooting for Seychelle and Savage to navigate this rough road together, towards their HEA and looking forward to reading the rest of their story in Savage Road next month.

Very well done and highly recommended.

Disappointing

*spoilers* I have read every book that Christine Feehan has published, and this has been my least favorite one. I really was not impressed with Seychelle. She started out pretty great and then quickly became sort of pitiful. I mean wow, she is a hero, and is a strong women that helps the elderly, and then she’s not. She soon becomes a “slow processor” and what I really can’t stand is that she takes him back after cheating because she can’t stand being without him anymore. From there it only gets worse with her to stupid to live choices that she just keeps making and blames on her processing. And on top of that the story is dragging out Savages sadist behavior in the bedroom. Feehan has been getting increasingly darker in her characters romance areas and I really am disappointed that this book and these characters are the ones that she decided to write 2 books on. I am truthfully trying to decide if I even want to read another book about them. Which is so sad because I had hoped that Alena’s book would be next, or maybe one of the other boys. I was also just a teeny bit sad about Pierce, but I think I understand why he needed to be a douche. I really am struggling, because before I read this, I couldn’t wait for the book coming out Jan 30th. I was practically counting down, and now I’m trying to decide if I should cancel my preorder 😢

Disgusted and disillusioned

I have loved and anticipated practically every book I have read by Christine until this one. This is not paranormal romance. It is pure S&M. I know what Savage went through, but there are limits to what she should subject the readers to. I lived through sixteen years of abuse, and all this made me do is want to cry. If this is the direction Torpedo Ink stories are going, she has lost me as a reader.

I was so thrilled to discover that Savage's story came so early in this series! He has to be, hands down, the most complicated happy ever after to figure out so I was also really glad to find out that it wouldn't all be solved in one novel, which is a first of it's type for Ms. Feehan.

Savage, and the rest of Torpedo Ink for that matter, never expected to find someone to match the messed up -whatever- that is his life. The most damaged of Torpedo Ink, when his life is saved by Seychelle Dubois he does his best to stay away from this woman who seems to have wheedled her way into his thoughts. But when he discovers that she's also the singer his fellow musical brothers are interested in joining their band, he can't help but insinuate himself into her life. Discovering that there are a small group of men mysterious circling the outliers of her life sparks his protective instincts and that's the end of things.

Seychelle has lived a very sheltered life. Taking care of both of her sick parents since she was small, now that she's on her own she's determined to do what she wants. But the reality of her gift and inclinations is that she doesn't do that well around too many people and she much prefers the calm and companionship of some of the nice elderly ladies in town. When she finds herself drawing the attention of Savage, secretly yearning for more than he seems willing to give her but also more than she thinks she can handle, she must mull over her commitment to the course of life she finds herself on.

While many parts of Savage and Seychelle's life are navigated, part two of their story will become available in the Spring of 2022 in Savage Road. I am really looking forward to seeing what becomes of this intriguing couple as they travel further down the road of Savage's proclivities and the outside influences that could break them apart.

I received this novels as an ARC from Edelweiss+.

Another amazing love story from Christine Feehan. A dark edgy and raw hero and sweet giving strong heroine brings us a contemporary beauty and the beast…a spell that can’t be broken but a beast who deserves love and a woman who understands him…can love all of him and accept his love.
.
Savage, a man broken as a child by pedophiles training him to associate pain with pleasure…made his satisfaction based on the need to inflict pain and make it pleasure. As we learn more about him, his gifts and why his emotional rage and pain grows and needs to be released, we grow to ache for him and love the man…hope Seychelle will choose to be all he needs.
.
As their relationship grows Seychelle could accept and understand Savage and the man he's become, the light and dark sides. She is drawn to helping others, her need to heal and ease others pain. Willing to accept the emotional pain and rage filling the well in Savage in physical form. What she has difficulty with is although it’s terrifying, why she is so drawn to the pain she knows will become pleasure. She frightens herself more than he does.
.
I love how this couple navigates the journey of their relationship, the ups, downs, how communication and honesty build the trust between them and make them determined to make it, to be all they need to be for each other. It’s all woven beautifully through a plotline that advances the series, grows the Torpedo Ink’s standing in their chosen home, highlights the couple’s psychic gifts as blessings and curses, and deals with antagonists who allow us to compare and contrast who the real monsters are. Show how Savage differs.
.
It ends with them willing to move forward and I have the feeling Seychelle will grow to accept her darker longings as the balance to the light she needs to give others. Help her find control. As she moves farther into his world she'll make it her own. The hardest part will be the club business that she’s drawn into…being kept out of, and how to understand that part and all Savage is asked to do for them, all he does without them knowing and how she’ll willingly help him continue.
.
…excited to read Savage Road, next and see how these two continue to navigate their internal and external conflicts and keep this love story growing and going!

Getting too dark for me

Ms. Feehan warned me in a video chat that this series was going down roads so e would not like. I started out enjoying the Torpedo Ink stories but her characters are getting darker and darker into the BDSM world to where I don’t want to go. I find I am skipping over more and more areas searching for the more enjoyable story parts and less domination. The women are all about giving over their everything to be with the man. Seychelle really starts thinking smart for a brief moment and I just want to say ‘forget the HEA. Get the hell away from him’. Sorry. This one just really turned me off.

This review may contain spoilers, so fair warning, upon reading the review.

Annihilation Road is the six installment in the Torpedo Ink series and I can’t believe that we are already on book 6 already! Time has really flown by with these books. Of course, with how fast this author writes, it should come as no surprise to any of us right? This is a book that is unique to Feehan, this is the first time I have ever read her do a duet featuring one pairing. But Savage is the most intense character I believe she has ever written. She has written plenty of alpha males over the years, however, Savage is a whole another element that some of you might not quite be ready for. Now, this is the first book, so I imagine that the second book will be even rougher so I will really have to prepare myself for that one. Feehan really has explored certain kinky elements more especially in this series. But in this one Savage is a sadist. So to say that this is a different level is saying something, and it won’t be for everyone. But I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and Feehan led me down a road that I trusted her completely with and I am so grateful for that. So let us begin….keep in mind this review HAS SPOILERS!!

Annihilation Road is a fiery hot edgy romance that features:

Savin “Savage” Pajari-alpha male, sergeant at arms for the Torpedo Ink Mc, Sadist, likes control, is scarred but protective and has a sweet underbelly

Seychelle Dubois-orphan, singer/songwriter, generous, loving, lighthearted nature

Annihilation Road starts off with the kick-off to the story when Savage is in town and when he sees a young child about to be run over, he runs over to save the child and as he is about to be hit by the car thinking he would die, someone happens to push him out of the way and takes the hit for him…..a young woman whose beauty takes his breath away. He tells himself he should walk away right then, but he is captivated by her and only wants her more than ever. He gives into temptation and visits her at the hospital to make sure she is faring well, and posing as her fiancee, he meets this woman who saved him, a vicious man not worth saving, and is stunned by Seychelle. She is beautiful, but sees beneath his tough exterior and to the deep soul of the man. She sees past his gruff dialogue and finds him entertaining and not offensive. There is a connection that they build in those sweet tender moments in the hospital but he walks away even though it’s the hardest thing he has ever done. What he doesn’t expect is to be drawn to her once again and fight for her and seeks to win her heart. But he knows it isn’t easy, and life with him will be extremely difficult but as they explore this newfound relationship, there is a threat to Seychelle, and only with her beloved protector will she find an exquisite love worth fighting for no matter the risk or pain involved…

When he was particularly bad, he went to the underground clubs for satisfaction. No woman would want him or ever stay with him. She sure as hell would never love him

Annihilation Road is a story that I was extremely nervous about. Now if you want a background on how this story came to be, Christine Feehan does have an explanation on her website HERE, and I really respected that Christine Feehan was willing to go here because it is highly rare to see this in a romance and that is for good reason. But that doesn’t mean that I wasn’t nervous to read this one, because if this counts, other than Fifty Shades of Grey, I have never read a character that is a sadist. So this was definitely a new experience for me, and I was curious to see how she would handle this book, especially since we get a continuation of this one in “Savage Road” which will be released in January 2022. I will say that this book will sweep you quickly away into the story, and it really kicks off so fast. The connection that begins with Savage and Seychelle, is powerful and it has a magnetism that only this author can craft in her delectable ways. The interactions between these two is so delicious. Savage is such a tough teddy bear at times, he is heavily scarred and intimidates many people, but he doesn’t Seychelle. She sees through that tough exterior he has as a shield very quickly, and her reaction to him really baffles Savage so much. He honestly doesn’t know how to handle her and it’s Magnifique. I absolutely adored seeing their dialogue and how they banter with each other.

He needed violence. He craved it in the way others might a drug. His world revolved around it. Worse, he had a darkness in him that she couldn’t even fathom, but she knew it was real and he was capable of things she couldn’t conceive of. She was drawn to that darkness like a moth to a flame, and she would burn up in his fire. She would. She had no protection against a man llike Savage. She felt his loathing of himself and the demons that plagued him and she wanted to be the woman to bring him peace.

Seychelle sees the humor in so many aspects, and that is not what Savage is accustomed to. Even though Seychelle is apprehensive about Savage, she senses the darkness in him, she also sees the good man that is hidden deep inside him. I did love seeing that aspect and seeing what she was willing to sacrifice. It is not an easy road for these two. Savage has certain needs and it’s not something he can just push away or he could explode and hurt someone he truly loves. Ever since he was a child, it has been trained in him to be a sadist. He has very dark needs and only a special woman makes him want to try for more. He wants more with Seychelle than he has ever had with anyone else. He is willing to fight for her, but he also knows he needs to be patient because he won’t be a gentle lover most of the time. Seychelle upon learning of his true nature is apprehensive because she is sure she will fail him in giving him what he needs in her. She doesn’t know if she can even handle it or to be tolerant of the pain he wants to give her. But as she explores this deeper side to Savage, she sees so many sides to him, and as she begins to fall in love with him, she wonders if she can take him in his full beast mode.

She would lose Savage. The difference was, with Savage, she would lose her heart. Her soul. Everything she was.

Now I had one major issue with the book and it wasn’t even that the hero was a sadist. I actually really respect the author for writing his story, because it needed to be told. But there is something that Savage chooses to do earlier on in the book. Now they aren’t 100% committed to each other yet, however, they are very close to it. Savage feels the beast coming really strong and he is worried he will lash out at Seychelle, so he goes to another woman to fulfill those darker needs that he knows Seychelle isn’t even close ready for. Now, this isn’t the first time we have seen this (something similar happens in book one, the only difference here that some readers may really STRUGGLE with, is that this is full-on cheating) I do consider this scene cheating, because even though they aren’t quite 100% together, its pretty close to it and even though I understand in some respects, he really hurts her here and also I feel like he didn’t grovel nearly enough in the way that she deserved. But while I did have issues with this scene, it wasn’t enough to take away too much of the overall rating of the book. This would have been a 5 if it hadn’t been for this moment in the book.

I know that’s not much in the face of what I’m asking of you, but it’s all I can give you. My promise that you have me one hundred percent. Everything I am is yours.

A side note on the cover: I am not sure if its just me or does it seem like the covers for Savage’s books are as polished as the other titles in the series. They just seem to not have the same depth and quality as the others do. So I am curious why that is for these books.

Overall I found Annihilation Road to be a journey of self-reflection, newfound love that is packed with heights and its lows, it’s a story that will battle within and discover the essence of selfless love and its powerful healing capability. Its a story that will enhance its readers to another level and reach a stunning yet intense love.

3.5 Hearts I usually love the writing of Christine Feehan and while I mostly enjoyed this book I had a couple problems. So let's get that out of the way.

I hate a book where one of the main characters cheats and Savage cheats. It really turned me off. Also this book doesn’t have an ending. Well I mean it does, but in the next book. Also, other triggers like rape, torture, sex trafficing, etc Read the warning Feehan has at the beginning of the book before starting it.

Ok that being said I mostly enjoyed this book. I liked Savage in most cases. Sometimes he pissed me off so that means I was invested. Seychelle was an interesting character. I loved the powers that she has and how she used them. She has such a calming personality.

Another good book from Christine Feehan but be prepared.

This book was just as compelling as I expected it would be. This book does have triggers a plenty, so please take caution with the author's note.
Savage is a sadist, and it is so deeply rooted in him, that no amount of therapy or treatment could cure it. Believe him, he's done miles of research. One day, he sees a kid about to be hit by a big truck. Without even thinking, he lays down his bike, and sprints to save the kid, but knows he won't be in time. Unexpectedly, something slams him in the back, giving him the missing momentum to get out of the way in time. He didn't expect the beautiful, curvy Saychelle to be his savior.
Saychelle is a giver by nature. She had been taking care of her sick parents most of her life, and didn't realize how much of herself she was giving to other people. When she meets Savage, she feels and instant pull and connection with him. She never expects to fall in love.
This book was telling a lovely story. I feel like the arc needed a little more editing personally, but hopefully the finished copy will iron those out. Still enjoyed it, and can't wait to read part 2!

Touch of paranormal and a whole lot of family…

This author knows how to build a world that you can get lost in! Savage and Seychelle were so different yet, once they found each other, they fit together and within the Torpodo Ink family naturally. Their courtship included a lot of heat but also a lot of conversation. There was a lot to work out and neither was afraid to talk to it out…

Savage’s past had shaped him. Doesn’t life do that for everyone? Seychelle the same. Very different, they had opposite takes on how their relationship would be. Or even could be. The chemistry between them kept them going, even when they struggled with each other and people who couldn’t let them be. Danger found them but so did love and, despite all Seychelle’s (mostly) fears, they were going to find a way. If a bit repetitive in spots, I like the characters, the family they created out of a bonding, life and death past.

I’m always up for another visit with this rough, tough, yet loving, MC family and am looking forward to the next! ~Diane, 3.5 stars

3.75 stars-- ANNIHILATION ROAD is the sixth instalment in Christine Feehans’ contemporary, adult TORPEDO INK erotic, paranormal romance series, a spin off from the author’s Sea Haven/Sisters of the Heart series which in turn is a spin off from the Drake Sisters series. This is Savin “Savage” Pajari, and singer Seychelle Dubois’s story line. ANNIHILATION ROAD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

WARNING: ANNIHILATION ROAD contains scenes, and makes reference to graphic violence, rape, murder, torture, child prostitution, and abuse against children, women and men, and may not be suitable for more sensitive readers. The violence is a part of the history and lives of the Torpedo Ink crews. The eighteen original Torpedo Ink members are the sole survivors of a Russian pedophile ring, and as such work towards rescuing children and women in similar situations.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Savage and Seychelle) ANNIHILATION ROAD follows the building romance and relationship between Savin “Savage” Pajari, and singer Seychelle Dubois. Savin ‘Savage’ Pajari and Seychelle Dubois met the day Savage saved the life of a young child as Seychelle saved the life of our story line hero. Taking the brunt of the hit, Seychelle landed in the hospital as Savage claimed our heroine as his own but all is not well with Seychelle Dubois, an empathic, psychic healer whose inability to control her powers is threatening her life. Not only is Seychelle’s life in danger but Seychelle has a couple of stalkers, stalkers who are using every means necessary to get to our story line heroine.

Savin ‘Savage Pajari is a sexual sadist; a product of the abuse, the torture, and the environment in which he and his Torpeo Ink family grew up. Unable to watch his family suffer, Savage used his own psychic powers to ease the pain and suffering of the people he loved, but more importantly, Savage was used and abused in ways we can only imagine. Unable to leave the demons behind, Savage needs to inflict pain and suffering, and our heroine is ripe for the challenge. Meanwhile, a rival MC is targeting the Torpedo Ink MC, especially member Alena Koval who was betrayed by a man she thought she could love.

The relationship between Seychelle and Savage is one of immediate attraction. Seychelle is an innocent who had spent her life looking after her parents, a life that is now affected by the people she once loved. With the voice of an ‘angel’ Seychelle is asked to audition with the Torpedo Ink group, a voice that can soothe and control the people who listen. Savage Pajari is a man who needs control, and his family is well aware of his sadistic nature, a side of our hero he is unable to restrain.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including most of the Torpedo Ink MC family. We are introduced to Seychelle’s neighbors Doris and Inez, Brandon Campbell, Joseph Arnold and guitar player Hank. The requisite evil has many faces.

ANNIHILATION ROAD is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of obsession, power, control and denial; a tale of desperation, domination, and sexual savagery. The premise is detailed, emotional and heart breaking; the romance is unconventional; the characters are charismatic, dynamic and broken. Seychelle and Savage’s story continues in SAVAGE ROAD January 2022.

Annihilation Road is the 6th book in the Torpedo Ink series and it’s the first in a duet about Savage Pajari, the sergeant-at-arms for the MC and his love interest. Seychelle Dubois saves Savage from being hit by a vehicle and it intrigues him to meet the woman who would risk her life in order to save his. One touch, one kiss later and he knew that this was the woman for him. Save is a sadist and he never thought he would find a woman to ease his pain and be able to handle the man he was trained to become.

There was a slow and calculated build to this story because it takes time to build trust in a relationship. Seychelle is a healer and she is alone in the world. There isn’t anyone to protect herself from her own powers. Savage makes it his business to know what it would take to have Seychelle as his woman. I like the path that this story is taking because she is a woman who won’t easily submit to Savage, yet she craves the pain and pleasure aspect of what Savage offers. She isn’t sure she can give Savage all he needs and so they put the brakes on things. There is a lot of soul searching in this story along with a ton of drama from 2 individuals who won’t leave Seychelle alone.

With any Torpedo Ink story there is plenty of interaction from the other bikers and their women from previous stories and Torpedo Ink business. The author has created a diverse and interesting blend of individuals and together they are a band of brothers that make a close-knit family of misfits. There is a touch of humor but what draws me into this story is that these men and women find themselves finding a person that gets them. They find someone to love them warts and all. Annihilation Road is rough and gritty, but it is first and foremost a love story for Savage and Seychelle, and that is worth the read. The next installment arrives in January and I can’t wait to see how this story concludes.

"He was a monster and monsters weren't meant for the world."

Savin "Savage" Pajari truly believed this about himself as he ran to rescue a small boy from being hit by a truck. Wrapping himself around the little boy, Savage prepares himself for the pain of being hit. At the last moment, he's pushed to safety, and was saved. Savage turned to see his rescuer had been hit, and felt an immediate attraction, as well as a natural physical response, to the young woman, something that didn't happen. Savage follow Seychelle to the hospital wanting to thank her and to prove to himself that he didn't feel anything for her. Savage fails, and falls hard for Seychelle. Could he have found a woman that would accept him, and his lifestyle that included his Torpedo Ink family as well as his sexual proclivities?

Seychelle Dubois's a nurturer, and a woman that needs to be needed. She's has had a rough and lonely life. She became care provider for her parents at a young age. Seychelle hasn't felt any true attraction toward a man until Savage. As a psychic healer, as well as having the ability to see a person's physical, as well as their mental pain, Seychelle is slowly killing herself because she can't control the need to help. She can see the pain that Savage is in and what his gift is doing to him, as he assists his family with their emotional pain. Seychelle's drawn to Savage, and his need to give pleasure/pain and fears that she LIKES it, and what does that say about her as a person. Seychelle struggles in accepting Savage's lifestyle as well as her own dark needs. The question is can Seychelle come to terms with the things she needs to be fulfilled, and happy with Savage while living with the rules within Torpedo Ink.

We meet new enemies that are a threat to Seychelle. Plank and the Diamondbacks continue to try get something on Torpedo Ink, so they can bring them into submission by blackmailing them. They've made a mistake by hurting one of the T.I. members, and may see what it truly means to betray, and harm Torpedo Ink MCC.

Savage, and Seychelle's story continues in SAVAGE ROAD. Release date: January 25, 2022.

Annihilation Road continues the dark story of the members of Torpedo Ink. This series has become a favorite of mine because it blends a touch of paranormal with a fraction of darker romance. The men of Torpedo Ink have lived lives that will haunt them. If you haven't heard of this series before, please check out the trigger warnings if you have triggers.

Annihilation Road is the first book in the series to be a "cliffhanger" of sorts. I will say it isn't one of those SHOCKING type cliffhangers. You know the ones-someone just got shot or kidnapped and the book ends. But, it does have a lot of unanswered questions. Thankfully, Savage Road releases in a month, so you won't have to wait long.

Savage is possibly the darkest of all the characters we have met so far. This book is a dark dive into a kink that might make some readers (me included) confused. However, if you read the story as an observer to another couple's love story and sort of distance your own feelings, Savage and Seychelle have a deep love. Once I stopped projecting my thoughts onto Seychelle, I could appreciate the story more!

This was an interesting read and I love the care Christine Feehan has taken with Savage's story and her readers. The letter at the beginning of the book is fabulous.
Savage is a sexual sadist and nothing will ever change that. Seychelle hasn't felt much of anything until she meets Savage. I loved his care, even when being a stupid jerk.
Her voice reminded me a little of the Dark Troubadours as well as Joley, so it was interesting that her gift was closer to Libby. I loved the crossover between the two series. Definitely a reminder to do a re-read soon.
Overall, a good addition to the series. I'll have to read it again for the subtleties of the stories (I tend to race through the first time to find out what happens;)). I am looking forward to they second story.

2.5 STARS

In book six of the Torpedo Ink series, Savin “Savage” Pajari’s story comes to the forefront: his name says it all as this man feels he has little humanity left. Savage, as one of the enforcers and protectors of his MC club, lives life on a brutal scale. Savage is astonished when an unknown woman saves his life as he snatches a child from an oncoming car. She pushes them out of the way bearing the brunt of injuries. Other than his Torpedo Ink family, no one has protected Savage in a very long time. Once Savage spends a little time with Seychelle, he is caught and captivated with emotions awakening he thought were lost to him forever.

Seychelle Dubois has spent her limited life taking care of parents who are now gone and feeling disconnected from the world. She has psychic talents that heal sickness and disease, but take an almost deadly toll on her. Meeting Savage sets her world on fire with a passion and intensity that she never knew before; however, Seychelle is not sure she can live with Savage’s deadly and demanding lifestyle. Not only does the club pursue and dispatch its enemies and abusers of women and children, but Savage has some strong proclivities for pain and pleasure in the bedroom.

While Savage and Seychelle are intensely drawn to one another, they have a difficult road in order to come to agreement and understanding about a relationship Seychelle is not sure she wants or can handle. With a siren like voice, and beautiful heart, Seychelle draws people to her and not always in a good way. Savage is determined to win her over and protect Seychelle from those who would do her harm although he views himself as one of them. As perhaps the most wounded and desperately lost member of the club, Savage is the greatest in the need of salvation before his demons finally take him under. Each MC member has one or more psychic gifts they use to help their “family.” Savage’s particular gift threatens to overwhelm him permanently; however, he is a willing sacrifice to save them and now, Seychelle, as well. Seychelle has the ability to sooth the aptly, in this case, named savage beast and offer him a chance at love; however, what he requires from her is something in the extreme.

The Torpedo Ink stories have continued to take the darker tone especially when it comes to sensual habits compared with the related Sea Haven series. Since all of the members were extremely damaged as children, it is not surprising they have a lot of issues. The theme of redemption for those who thought themselves beyond such is the most compelling part of these books showing how what was meant for evil can be turned into good in respects to Torpedo Ink saving trafficked children. This particular story is being told in two parts with the next book, SAVAGE ROAD, releasing a month later. Ms. Feehan says she researched what happens to children who are terribly abused and what that means for them as adults. According to the author, these two books can be viewed as standalones because of the nature of the subject matter which takes the bondage and kink to the darkest levels yet. She further states that no important facts for the series will be in these books so readers will not miss out if they chose to skip them. This book is very hard to rate because while the writing is good, I am not a fan of the subject matter for this genre so readers will have to decide if this story is for them based on the information given.

"What kind of fuckin' question is that? Look at me, woman. Of course I know all sorts of dirty, sinful things."

I am so happy I am back in the series.
I can't believe it's ending. I never want it to end.
Picked this series up by chance and fell in love with it immediately.

Savage story was special. Every character's story is special, but he is such a precious soul.
This was more than just a romance plotline but a redemption plotline for both of our main characters.
Savage and Seychelle have gone through so much in the past and they are trying to find their own peace in the world and find out the life they want and destiny has set them up together.
While they try to navigate their relationship, it's definitely builds with trust, honesty and because the both of them are so used to being alone, it's hard to navigate that together.

Compared to the other books, this was more invested and in depth to their storyline, personality and the buildup to that relationship.
We are still learning who they are, what they could give and what they need.

I hope in the next one we get more action and I love their honesty and silly conversations they have.

"Her lashes fluttered. The dimple appeared. He found himself looking into the deep blue of her eyes. His heart contracted. She was so fucking beautiful he had no right to even look at her. He'd heard the fairy tale - Beauty and the Beast. Sitting on her bed, looking at her face, that body that was created just for him ... that story could have been theirs."

I really liked Seychelle in this one, Savage, so so on him. I get why he was all things need to be my way or the highway, but it still bothered me by how much he pushed Seychelle at times. The one good thing that Seychelle gained by being with Savage was someone to help her with her gift and the whole extended family of Torpedo Ink.

Savage and his woman are so complicated they need two books to tell their story. This is book one and sets the stage for book two, Savage Road. Savage is one of the gift children who was brutalized due to his parents' political leanings. Surviving by following Czar, he and his group of brothers and sisters of Torpedo Ink are still trying to adjust to the quiet town they reside. This is a mixture of romance and biker politics.

Not for me. I hate what Savage did and how he glossed over it as if it was nothing. I also don't like that she has to change for him but he is so unbending for her. He also wants her full commitment before she can fully experience what she's getting into with him regarding his needs, which are extreme.

I have been waiting for Savage's book for a long time. Part 2 releases at the end of Jan 2022.

Overall, I liked it.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

They meet when Savage sees a little boy about to get hit by a truck and is trying to get him to safety. She jumps in front of him and the truck hits her instead. She is ok but does have some scars on her leg afterwards. He is very aroused that she has scars by trying to save him. He touches them all the time.

He tries to stay away from her. He knows that the way he likes rough sex and pain and whipping is not for everyone and he doesn't want to hurt her.

But they can't stay away from each other. He has the psychic talent of taking away anger and pain from his Torpedo Ink brothers and sisters. They don't know he can do it but she does.

She has the psychic talent of healing by taking on the person's illness and then she feels sick, but they feel better. She is killing herself slowly because she can't stop doing it when it makes her sick.

He talks to her all the time and tells her exactly what he wants and what she needs to do. She is honest and tells him she doesn't know if she can do that for him.

Also, she is a virgin. So someone who's never had sex is going to be into all this kinky stuff? He says he can teach her and she already likes it rough based on their kisses and biting and pinching nipples.

It was interesting to see inside Savage's mind and how much he loved her. He really, really loved her. He tried to be different for her and not have rough sex but due to his traumatic childhood and being forced to be that way for so many years, he can't go back and "fix" himself. He is honest with her about that.

I did think some out of character things happened. She has two stalkers. TWO. Yet Savage does nothing about it because she told him not to. The Savage from the earlier books would have killed them both right away, no matter what she said, because she needed to be protected.

Of course, one of the stalkers goes to her house with a gun when she's alone (again, they know she has two stalkers so why was she alone???) and Savage has to save her. We are told he kills the guy off page but we don't get to see him avenge her and protect her? I was upset about that.

The second stalker has psychic talents and forces/compels women to be with him. She has saved two of the women and he has been stalking her and walking by her house all the time. Again, Savage does nothing about the guy. THIS IS SO OUT OF CHARACTER.

He tells the guy to stay away from her. That's it.

The book ends with them agreeing they love each other, he proposes and gives her a ring his brother Ice made (we are told it's a fancy teal blue diamond, very rare) and that they will figure out the rough stuff and whipping together. He won't have any other women and they will work up to it to see what she can handle. She has a safe word. I'm guessing the whipping eventually happens in book 7 with Savage.

*Please note I'm writing the same review for Annihilation Road and Savage Road (books 6 and 7 in the Torpedo Ink series) based on the author's letter to readers in the front of each book explaining the relationship between the two books. As noted in that explanation, due to some of the dark subject matter, readers may read book 6 without reading book 7 given the dark elements in the later book. However, it is essentially two parts to one story arch, so I'm considering them together.

Christine Feehan is an author whose books I love to hate. I read one, hate it, but immediately read the next one. It takes guilty pleasure to a new level - high or low is debatable. I read absolutely everything. I am not embarrassed by any of it. Yet, I wouldn't want anyone I know to read these. These insane plots, written poorly, but with surprisingly complex characterization are so ridiculous and over-the-top that I can't look away. I absolutely hated book 6 by the 20% mark, but I finished it and immediately read book 7. I don't even want to know what's wrong with me, but considering it doesn't even come close to comparing to the pathology of Savage and Seychelle (the main characters), I'm all good. I'm not going to pick this apart piece by piece, because it's just too hard to explain crazy. If you think you might want to try out these books, read the author's letter and review the multiple pages of crisis help groups concerning everything from child sexual abuse/trafficking to spousal abuse to suicide listed in the back. It you still think you may want to read it? Best wishes. I'm, of course, probably going to read the next one.

I love all Torpedo Ink and Savage has been one of my favorite characters. I enjoyed the first quarter to third of the story, but then the entire book turns into Seychelle going back and forth, round and round, over and over: how can she accept Savage and what he wants from her? How can she be turned on by what she is, sexually? What’s wrong with her for being turned on by the things she is?

Ooooh goood grieffff. She is just too damn much. Like just staaaaahp already. But she doesn’t stop. Everrrrr.

It was hundreds of pages of stagnant frustration.

The entire book is continuous, angsty fretting by Seychelle. Which is so unnecessary if there were just other actionable plot lines to carry the story forward.
Instead, she kept going back to figuratively wringing her hands all story long so there was no progress.

Three stars is my being generous because I like the series so much.

Not entirely sure why i keep reading these… sometimes I’m entertained, but this was just entirely too long. Weirdly this was the one I was most intrigued to read because Savage is the darkest of the characters and it’s BDSM so yeah… The FMC was a whiny idiot and the plot was repetitive. The next book in the series is about the same couple AND 20 HOURS!? How can there possibly be another 20 hours of interesting book here. At any rate I read the whole thing. Even if it was at 1.5x speed. Suffice it to say, the series may have run its course for me.
