Super fun old school manga which I assume inspired the Japanese TV series of the same name. Lots of action, great monsters and terrific art. Some of the visuals are quite scary as well. Only quibble is that this volume ends rather abruptly in the middle of a scene!

No m'acaba d'engrescar.

I love how much of this manga is action scenes, lots of the storytelling is done through big fight scenes without dialogue or narration. Just straight to the action. We start with an explanation that... somehow lightning experiments give Takeshi powers? What powers? How do they work? What are the limitations? Who cares, it looks cool. Hew can transform into a masked hero by stomping his foot on the ground. He can make his motorcycle fly by shouting a prayer to the elements themselves! He has super strength and powerful movements! No need to explain, we get the idea, and we just have fun with it as he faces an evil organization with creepy human science experiments resulting in terrible animal hybrid villains. I especially love how all of his special super moves are just "Rider [x]". No fancy talk! Just RIDER KICK! RIDER CHOP! RIDER PUNCH!

If there's a fault to this series, it's that the English collections are garbage and cut chapters in half. Manga often split arcs between volumes, but at least they contain whole chapters. This volume contains... two and a half chapters? Stopping right in the middle of a big fight, as the next volume contains the ending pages of this one and continue directly throughout the rest of the chapter.

THIS WAS REALLY, REALLY GOOD! Those action scenes plus the excellent retelling of the early Kamen Rider story... man! So good! I have to read the rest!

This is a pretty good version of the classic Kamen Rider plot! Nothing much else to say: Good action, and about what I expected from this.

I read this several months ago, so I am already starting to forget what happened, but this is the manga that was released along with that super popular tokusatsu show Kamen Rider back in 1973. The manga version has some cooler action, and Kamen Rider can take off his helmet (like he can also in Kamen Rider the First and Shin Kamen Rider). It's a dark story with lots of cool stuff, but again, I am already forgetting what happened--basically it's the first few episodes, with Rider fighting the spider man and the bat man villains. I liked the bat man villain the most, with the vampire references and the flight and so on.

Such great art and so kinetic it reminds me a lot of Akira in the way that dynamic ever moving visuals almost completely tell the story. it's very old school boys own, still, which is what I exoect from a popular Ishinomori manga but the rogue's gallery is basically great here and it's actually somewhat scary at times, there's a horror-manga crossover feel to it all.

If you’re new to KR this is a great starting point vs the series. The artwork is solid, storytelling is good and it’s a quick read.

I love the Kamen Rider series! I read all three books in two days. They are fun and Ishinomori's style reminds of Black Jack by Osamu Tezuka!
