3.5 ⭐️ It was alright. Basically just a retelling of how Peter Parker becomes Spider-Man — nothing new or surprising if you already know the story. I didn’t feel like there was much depth to it, and it kind of skimmed over the emotional stuff that makes Spider-Man’s origin so powerful.
That said, it’s clearly written for younger readers, and for that audience, it works. The story’s simple, easy to follow, and probably a great intro for kids just getting into superheroes. But for older fans or anyone looking for a more detailed or thoughtful version of Peter’s origin, it might feel a bit too basic.
I read this to my “Spidey-Mad” 3, 5 and 7 year old boys and we all loved it! It was perfect for my youngest but wasn’t a typical childrens book so we could all enjoy it! It was refreshing that it wasn’t just a rewrite of the films we know like many of the spidey brand kids books are! Really hope there are more of these spidey adventures!!!!
I’ve been reading this one to the kids & they thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not too sure who the target audience is… the way it’s written would suggest it’s for the younger kids, but there are no illustrations/ pictures for the wee yins… so maybe not?? Still, both my kids enjoyed Spidey’s shenanigans.
