LOVE THAT DEFIES DEATH - WITCHBOUND by LEISL LEIGHTON
This book was deep and very introspective. That said, I loved that even though there were fatal reasons why Paul needed to keep well away from Ivy McVale, a maternal wolf in his pack, he was unable to deny his feelings of love and his destiny - Against his better judgement. Against the need to marry another to shore up strength and power for his wolfpack. Against his own bodies longing. The call of soulmates was way too strong for either of them to resist. Although I haven’t read the Pack Bound books, I can see that this is the prequal to the series. It certainly is a great appetiser.
Paul was the last warlock in the line to protect the Were pack McVale and promised/forced to take a witch from a powerful coven to mate with to carry on his line. Ivy was a Were and the younger sister of one of Paul’s good friends. They had secretly been in love with each other unbeknownst to the other one since they were young. Now older and of marrying age, Paul realized that Ivy was his mate and prayed to his goddess Arianrhod to help him then did something unthinkable. The results changed their future but not as Paul planned so their pain filled love story continued to take Ivy and Paul through heartache and emotional turmoil while threatening to destroy not only their pack and the truce with the promised witch’s coven but also the destruction of them all causing Paul and Ivy to have to make other life altering decisions before it was too late to save at least one if not all of them. Good read.

Paul Collins is the Pack Warlock and seer who is supposed to marry a strong witch for the sake of the pack. He instead wants his best-friend’s sister, Ivy McVale. But he has a vision that she would die if they mated.
So Paul uses his magic to make Ivy think they are enemies. But a fated mate is always drawn to her partner. It’s a connection of the soul. No matter how he treats her, she feels his torment, pain, loneliness, and she wants to reach out to him. The pack needs him… and so does Ivy. Will they be able to ignore Fate? Or is this what is meant to be?
Paul finds that life as a seer and warlock can be trying for a young man. Ivy is a young wolf in the McVale pack sensitive to the pack but more so to Paul and she always has been. Paul makes decisions that will send him and Ivy on an adventure. The suspenseful storyline and the characters are interesting. Drama, mystery, pain, danger, and love. I read an ARC via BookFunnel without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.

Leisl Leighton has captured my attention from the start with this wonderful PNR story. I loved how the characters were developed and Ivy and Paul were given a happily ever after for now. I look forward to reading the pack Bound series and can't wait to see what happens next.
A Pack Bound Series Prequel is well written and kept me turning pages. Paul Collins, duty-bound Pack Warlock and seer and maternal wolf Ivy McVale's story is well worth reading. I want to read more in this series. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Intriguing plot and good world building in addition to insight into a pack warlock finding his way. I received a copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Witch Bound is an angsty and beautifully written novella based on the Pack Bound world. I always appreciate the richness of Leisl's worldbuilding, and this story is no exception. It's full of intense bitter-sweet emotions, and Leisl will have you hoping and praying that wolf Ivy and warlock Paul find a way to fight fate.
