The pictures are great. The book is short and to the point. It doesn't have a lot of frills and unnecessary filler information in it to extend the length of the book. I thought that was great.

It says it is for beginners but a lot of the terms and exercises are for intermediate level. It's a good book for someone who is moderately athletic and wants to amp up their workouts.

As a personal trainer, I'd recommend this is a tool to educate yourself on the benefits of HIIT but it is not an end all be all book.

“HIIT training requires you to push yourself as hard as you can during the "working" intervals of your routine, while the rest periods (the intervals) allow you to briefly recharge”

“Core stability helps protect your back from
injury. If you struggle to keep the core engaged, you may be lifting too much weight.”

“A strong gluteus medius stabilizes the hip and reduces lateral stress on the knees.”

For what this book is, it's great. To the point and covering what you need to know - I really enjoyed the illustrations to better understand which muscle groups are being targeted in various exercises and the explanations of common mistakes and reiterating how important your form is. If you already have a background in working out/exercise it's more of reminders than anything else, but still good to have. I did find a few new variations of exercises that I'm excited to test out that are new to me! The gold in this book, in my humble opinion, is nearing the end - once you've gone through all of the actual movements and it starts talking about how to plan your routine, know your limits and starting point, reminders on nutrition, stretching, pacing yourself...and examples of routines you can follow - many of them. To someone just starting out, this is great knowledge and easy to build from!

The only thing I can think of that would make this book stellar (and would have only been possible very recently) is to include some kind of QR code for each exercise to link it to a video of someone performing it. Pictures are great and the explanations do all they possibly can to walk you through it, but there is no perfect substitution to actually seeing someone perform an exercise.

I'll definitely be keeping it around for the next few weeks to reference back as I slowly start getting into shape, especially those final pages. They're easy to remember once you put it into practice.

This is an informative book with a lot of great exercise plans. It includes a customizable six week plan with workouts that only take 10-15 minutes. It really gave me inspiration to get back to working out and try some new exercises.
