In this world, you're either predator or prey.

I come from a long line of pure-blood predators, but when my shift finally happened, I turned out to be prey.

A bunny to be exact. A freakin' bunny.

The guy I'd been promised to since birth rejected me. My own father has turned his back on me - shipping me off to Apex Academy even though it's practically a death sentence with what I am.

Oh, and of course, my ex-fiance and his friends are here at the academy and more than happy to make my life a living h***.

But then I met my teachers. Five incredibly gorgeous apex predators, each one more mysterious than the last. And all of them, very much off-limits.

There is something dark at Apex Academy - something that's killing off students and teachers alike. As prey, I'm afraid I'm the easiest target, but who can I trust to keep me safe?

Let me start off by saying that I am utterly in awe of these authors. I finished the prequel in one sitting, and I couldn't wait to jump into this one.

The worldbuilding in this series is UNREAL. The authors have some true talent, and I cannot even imagine the amount of time they've put into these characters, the storyline, the world they created... just all of it.

DD continued on with her sass in this book, and I love that for her.. haha.
The spice definitely kicks up in this book, thankfully.
DD is prey... and the men are initially unsure of what to do with her or how to handle her.. understandably. Once she's sent to Apex, she realizes she's not just the average prey.
She makes some great friends, and catches the eye of some super hot teachers.

The humor in this series is fantastic and adds a nice touch to the steamy spice we get.

I can't wait to read more of this series.

I’ve been waiting for this book ever since the preyquel released back in August. Although it was very different from what I expected, I really loved it.

Getting to meet the guys for real this time and seeing them interact with Delores is so fun. Although sometimes I found they lacked a bit of communication.

The one thing I did dislike about the book is that some chapters felt unfinished before going to the next chapter. Like there were parts of the story missing that I really wanted and needed to see and that didn’t really get addressed that much afterwards, aside from a casual mention.

I hate how they treated Nico and hope that they’ll make it right and learn to communicate better and built better relationships, but I have high hopes!

There’s a lot left to uncover and I can’t wait for book 2.

Let Us Prey was full of so much action the book was never dull!! Between the guys personal stories that were never really talked about, too the secrecy.. there was ALOT going on.. Not that it was bad.. but at times it was a lot.. there is still so much information to be told and for such a longer big it feels like we didn't even scratch the surface of it

The worst thing about getting invested in a new, incomplete series is the fact that when it’s THIS good, it’s kinda devastating that there isn’t immediately more. (I value the time and effort authors put in, especially on a thick project like this! I just hate waiting.) I hope there isn’t too long of a wait between installments because my memory is crap and I don’t want to lose the finer points of this gem.

The spoiler free version of my gushing:
-I knew from the Preyquel that I was going to love watching Lo grow backbone and take her power back, but this blew me out of the water. The twists and turns? Even the things I thought I saw coming still made me squeal “oh my gawd they didn’t” in disbelief or excitement.
-The friends she made were perfection, probably my favorite supporting characters I’ve ever read.
-The pop culture references and the animal themed punny names/word play tickled my brain in the best way.
-And the guys are fantastic. Even Cash, who is definitely my least favorite, grew on me and I really hope in the next book he gets a fucking clue. Renard & Aubrey’s dynamic as the ancient secretive and often grumpy alpha beasts works ~so~ well. Bash is the biggest freakin idiot in the world but I absolutely love his golden retriever himbo energy and his constant jokes & teasing brought a much needed lightness to sometimes otherwise heavy (done well though) scenes. Nico, our sweet sensitive little fox has been neglected far too long and I desperately want to see him centered and loved before the series ends. He deserves it 🥺
-The spicy scenes are hella respectful and simultaneously often filthy and I love it. There’s some really good kink thrown in at places too! The potential for some seriously sinful set ups in future book(s?) has me salivating. I need the twin sandwich. And the monster appendages. And more knotting~ 🥵

Ohmyfuckinggod Cash & Bash need to seriously get their heads out of their asses!!! I know the whole big bad Romulus & Bloodstone aspect really warped their perspectives on how masculinity and relationships work but fuuuu. Poor Nico 😤 He deserves so much more and better. I’m glad that Cash is finally seeing that his father’s rule was BS and he can be a better alpha but I hate that it’s not until Nico leaves. And Bash!! The stupid freakin idiot!! Claims him and treats him like a convenient set of holes instead of like a person, then gets angry and possessive and feels betrayed that Nico would seek comfort elsewhere?? Especially with the person he TOLD him to. I also get that the council has everyone by the throat information wise among other ways but how the hell do so many shifters not know how being a shifter works. The whole biting thing especially, I know the other bonus mystery I don’t want to spoil here is a good plot device and set up some great conflict/tension, even if they didn’t get Shifter Sex 101 you’d think packs would talk about it pretty loosely? Anyway. I’m losing steam because it’s late but I didn’t want to go to sleep without getting my initial thoughts out. I will probably come back and edit this because I have more to say about the guys, especially the dynamic between Renard & Aubrey, and how much I love that Aubrey calls Dolly things like nibblet, snacklet, lunchable, appetizer, and bite sized. And the primal chase play aspect of their spicy times…

Lucille is the perfect villain, she’s absolutely evil and vindictive and unhinged in a way that is wholly by choice, not by mental illness tropes which I appreciate. I wish Mattie could escape and help Dolly 🥺

I freakin loved that Dolly made friends with the prey staff. I’m kinda hoping she’ll protect them in the future now that she’s turning into a badass.

I wish Rufus & Cori were MY best friends. 😍

This belongs in the category I like big books and I cannot lie. She's a big book but I enjoyed every page written. I strongly advise to read the prequel as you'll understand the book and without it that is way harder. This is the perfect mix between dark and funny. It has humor written in it so well I highly recommend it to all. Loved Dolly and her guys. I wish I were as strong as she was with the bullies and not really caring what they had to say about her. She stood above that and in a way that is empowering so even I suggest reading this book if you are bullied as it'll give you insights I wish I had back in the day. It makes this book perfect in so many ways I can't even describe with a pen or type. So there's that. Chapeau! And yes I need more.

This big boy was utterly fantastic. The story is dark, gritty, emotional, hilarious and titillating! Dolly and her men had me gripping my kindle tightly and turning the pages quickly to see what would happen next. They all are a bit quirky, slightly unhinged and damn sexy and I could not get enough of them.

Dolly and her men will keep you laughing throughout but also panting with desire for each of them. Make sure to have your BOB close, some extra batteries and maybe a dry pair of underwear – cause your definitely going to need it!

This story had a lot of fantastic imagery, amazing world building and hilarious characters that I couldn’t get enough of. The storyline is fantastic and filled with drama, angst, suspense and a whole hell of a lot of steam. It was so well written that I got so caught up in the story, I ended up staying up late to finish and forget to adult!

There are lots of mysteries to yet be revealed and I personally can’t wait for the next book!

EDIT: My earlier review was for Come Out and Prey, the prequel (oops)... but, same goes for this first book in the series. I absolutely loved it! This book is super thick and choc full of detail. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next book in my new favorite series.

This book was sooo good! Set aside a day or two to read bc once you start it is impossible to set down!
The main character is DD but you will also read the point of view of her mother and many male characters. It's an Academy book for adults! This is a prequel to the series that hasn't released yet, but A LOT happens in it. I purchased the paperback and it is just shy of a full length novel but it's so action packed that you feel like you read a full length. I can't wait for the next book!

OMFG!!! I FREAKING LOVED READING THIS SPECTACULAR BOOK!!!!!!!!!!! It was so good!!! Dolly really matured in this book, she understood what was going to happen or what was to come, so she prepared to the best of her ability. She didn't close herself off from what happened to her on prom night, but got stronger, smarter, braver, more independent, but she still stayed the same in her compassionate and caring ways. Dolly is such an interesting FMC. She is a bunny, a prey animal, but she acts like an alpha or pred! And their is a reason why (wererabbit!) I freaking hate her birth mother!! OMFG I can't tell how much I hate her! She can't win, neither can her evil rare-breeds-selling awful father!

Dolly rose above her enemies and became better than them, I think she even won against them. She is still learning and behind on basics because she was never taught. But she is keeping an open mind, trying new things, pushing her boundaries to grow more. I loved how long this book was! It was basically her first year at this academy, her classes, extracurricular activities, her new friends, the mystery and the killings, and her harem!!

At first, I thought the killings were to protect Dolly, and the shifters dying were working for Lucielle on finding info about Dolly...but after the ending I don't know anymore. Apex Society? I say the bad guys, and something related to the evil bitch birth mom.

Towards the end, the group was starting to fall apart. Understandably so, because how they were acting towards Nico... But Nico! Why did he have to run away!? Man, he was doing so good, but all the fated mates (yup! Dolly basically has the five fated mates in those sexy professors!) need to work on communication!!

Yay for Rufus and Coco! Dolly needed some allies and friends to tell her the truth about stuff.

Harem: Cassius (alpha wolf, dominant, exiled to Apex, rightful rules of his clan, still needs to do some major inner growing and maturing, to become a better alpha), Bast (twin to Cass, beta wolf, the psycho of the group, violent and bloody, super obsessed and possessive over Dolly, but doesn't have a freaking clue about relationships and stuff, like the whole messed up thing with him and Nico), Nico (fox, but is slowly be awaken into an alpha fox. He doesn't want to be submissive or not included in decision anymore...rightfully so. The artist and sometimes caretaker of the group. But his secrets!? The mystery surrounding the death/murder of parent, background, and mystery pen pal!?) Renard (the gargoyle, what character surrounded by so many mysteries and secrets, towards the end started to open up and became less broody, the mother hen of the group, very old), and Aubrey (the grumpy and broody dragon, has a wicked short temper that is very humorous during some parts, has a super soft spot for cute and fluffy things like Dolly and Jinx (the kitten he got Dolly for Christmas!), his relationship with Dolly was one of the slowest, but they are still moving forward.)

Sexiness: 5 out of 5! And the sexual tension was insane as well! Dolly has been with Nico (claimed), Bast (kinda claimed...?), and Renard (also kinda claimed...?) But Cass and Aubrey are still dragging their feet and prolonging the inevitable. Sigh, but I also can't wait until they basically break to Dolly.

Had multiple POVs

I seriously cannot wait until the next book, and I hope it comes out sooner than listed!

I did catch a few grammatical and punctuation errors and typos in this book.

This review is of my own opinion.

Let Us Prey, the first book in the Apex Society Capers series by Cassandra Featherstone and C. Rochelle, is a definite must read for any dark and steamy paranormal RH shifter romance lover out there, and I highly recommend you grab this one for yourself now! And yes, while it is technically the first official book in the series, there is a “preyquel” called Come Out & Prey available that I strongly suggest you read first just to learn more about the history of these amazingly developed characters and masterfully crated world that these two fabulous authors created.

Delores, our sweet and slightly naive fmc, is a unique prey shifter growing up in a world dominated by predators, and after the happenings in the prequel, finds herself starting at Apex Academy, struggling to fit in to a new school filled with predators just waiting for a chance to bring her down. Now finding herself facing a goal of just trying to survive all that keeps coming her way, Dolly has no other choice then to learn how to stand up for herself and to become a kick butt heroine she’s meant to be—even when your fellow classmates (and ex friends) are against you and determined that make your life hell. Luckily for Dolly though she’s found quite the pack to call her own—that just so happens to consist of some very over the top protective, oh so possessive and hot as hell teachers—Cassius, Bash, Nico, Renard and Aubrey.

The humor and wit that went into creating this story was absolutely amazing and made for a phenomena read full of spicy heat, angst and emotion filled action and a beautiful connection of characters fighting for each other. I love the diversity of Dolly’s broody pack of men that she’s accumulated and how they’re all so unique and dedicated with their feelings for Dolly, providing her with exactly what she needs to survive and grow.

Overall this was a well thought out book with a creative and intriguing twist filled plot, dynamic characters and a pace that flowed beautifully throughout the whole story. I absolutely loved the puns and play on words that the authors developed for this world. And the romance and heat between the characters? Pure perfection! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for our fearless group and whether or not they’ll be able to overcome all the obstacles in their way.

I am a little speechless after finishing this book. I loved the “preyquel” and instantly fell in love with these characters and their hilarious quirks. This book blew the prequel out of of the water.

The transformation that Delores went through after the events of Come Out & Prey were fantastic. While my heart broke for her in the first book it was nice to see her grow a backbone and become the badass bunny everyone knew she could be. She owned her “prey” status and showed all the bullies, teachers and students alike, that she wasn’t a bunny to be messed with.

I really enjoyed getting a deeper dive in to the guys and their pasts. Each of them having a heartbreaking or less than ideal backstory. Each guy has such a strong and unique personality that it’s hard to pick one, so more power to Dolly. I can totally see why she’s added 5 to her harem.

Even the side characters in this book stood out. Definitely making it to the top of the list of some of my favorite book friends. Rochelle and Featherstone have a knack for giving depth to each and every character they write.

While this book had its serious moments, it was full of comic relief and ridiculous puns. I found myself snorting and cackling out loud on numerous occasions. These characters and their quirks will leave you in stitches!

I’m so glad to finish this book and find out we are going to be getting more of these characters. There is so much story left to tell and tons of mystery to unravel. After all the chaos in this book I can’t wait to see what these two Queens have in store for us and I’m excited to go along for the ride.

I've officially entered shifter romance, and I'm totally here for it!

Ladies and Gents, this book is THICC! It took me a good 10% to really fall into the characters and plot, as I'm new to the shifter scene, but once I did I was on a roll. Dolores and her harem are some of the most fun and witty characters I've ever gotten the pleasure to read. The banter back and forth between all of the characters made it super easy to just fly through the chapters.

Now, being new to shifter world I am extremely grateful for the authors taking their time with details and explaining the shifting/mating processes between all of the different shifters. It really did make the difference between continuing on or DNFing this one, because quite honestly.. I've never had interest in this world before. I'm so glad I took and chance and dove right in!

The spice, emotions, and plot are on point. So, if you're like me and new to this world, I definitely recommend this being a starting point. And you definitely don't have to read the prequel to understand this one!

I'll definitely be waiting for In Prey We Trust and going back to read book one Come Out and Prey!

I like big books and I cannot lie (73 chapters) all you other readers can't deny when a huge thick book...I lost my momentum, but you get the point.

Technically you do not need to read the prequel to this book, but it would help tremendously...especially in the beginning. I recommend you start there because it is a great tease to what this next one is about. Here is the deal with this book, the story and plot is phenomenal...but would you expect anything less from these two authors? You get multiple POV's to get a big picture, however there is so much going on. You think you know what is to come and then something else happens. I think this series is trying to give the reader EVERYTHING. This is not a problem but that means it might take a hot minute to actually get to what the true problem is. I am not going to give any spoilers, but please be mindful I am not giving this a 5 star review because of the smut level. The smut level is low/medium burn at best....out of 5 I give this section like a 1.5/2 but I know more is coming in the future books.

I loved this book for the story, character development, and the sexual tension building up. I know that this going to be an epic series...to all the smut readers out there, wait for it because I know this is going to burn hot! Just did not happen in this book, but you can see it coming!

This book was everything I was hoping for and more!!!

If you read Come out and Prey, the prequel to this series, then you know our girl Dolly is starting at Apex Academy.

When Dolly gets to Apex, she has to deal with her ex and horrible ex friends that treat her like crap, and then she meets 5 smoking HOT guys that work at the school.

Let Us Prey will suck you into the story, Dolly and her guys will have you cracking up, and the spice will have you keeping your BOB close 😉😉

C Rochelle and C Featherstone knocked it outta the park with this book and I can't wait for more!! I love this bunny and her predators so freaking much!

You guys need to read this book!! It is literal PERFECTION!!!

She THICC! I love her. This book is so good.
C Rochelle is one of my autobuy authors. I love her writing and she’s so dang hilarious. The humor and wit of her characters is always amazing. So that wit and humor translated so well in this book.
Cass and C did an amazing job with this. In a Cash/Bash/Nico supremest now. I feel like they’re the golden trio and their bond was so amazing. Then add in Audrey and Renaud. It’s just chefs kiss.
Who’s the real alpha on campus?? It’s gotta be some-bunny… hehe get it?
Anyways if you love zootopia but make it smutty and RH, this is the shit for you. 10/10. I devoured this.

Fantastic!!
This was probably one of my favorite reads this year! Not sure where to begin. This was my first time reading something from these authors and I loved it! Fantastic job ladies!!
We get multiple POVs. (Which I love)
We get an incredible storyline, drama, mystery, action, angst, steam and so much more!! Oh, and definitely humor!!! I cannot express how much I loved Dolly, our FMC. I feel like she has it all...smarts, strength, but not without insecurities. She also has such a big heart. I love each of the guys as well, they are each so unique and bring something special into the mix.
I cannot wait for book 2!!!

ARC Review

Y’all this book is soooo good! Before you dive into this one make sure you read Come Out and Prey first - it’s the Preyquel that will give you a better understanding of what has happened in Delores’ life before Apex Academy.

These two have an amazing play on words that they have throughout the whole book and it’s really quiet creative. Little things like this are what make a book stand out in my opinion because I am definitely going to remember a book that references a “Slaystation.”

This book had so many plot twists that kept it very interesting and had me not wanting to put it down. Delores is definitely a girl you don’t want to mess with. She might be Prey but don’t let that fool you, this bunny has claws.

Can I also just say I want to smack Bash on the side of the head as well as his hard headed brother? Those two are some wolves that need to learn how to handle things better. I definitely think we will see some character development of these two as well as Renard and Aubrey in book three.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was very creative and unique to what I have read in the past and I can’t wait to see what’s next up for Delores and her guys.

You guys, this book!!!! It’s full of heart, heat, laughter, mystery, and has such good character growth and plot development/pacing. To be honest, I was not even remotely prepared for how much I would LOVE this book!! I liked the “prey-quel” and connected with the characters, but it did not prepare me for just how much JOY this book would bring me. 🥰

It was awesome to watch Dolores come into herself, going from timid, emotionally abused girl to becoming a bad@ss and knowing her worth. 🐰 Her guys are amazing too. Bash is my favorite, he is such a delight! He had me giggling and highlighting so many of his quotes. 😂😍 She also has the best friends a girl could have. I know they aren’t described that way, but I can’t stop picturing Rufus and Cori as Janis and Damian from Mean Girls 😂 Just a fantastic cast of characters, even the side characters are great.

This book has so many things I just adore - shifters, age gap, hot professors (swoon!), fated mates, BFFs that dreams are made of, sweet guys (even though some are hesitant *cough*Cash*cough*). I cannot wait for the next book!!

Let us Prey is an incredible book following the preyquel in the Apex Society Capers series by Cassandra Featherstone and C. Rochelle. I absolutely adore our FMC Delores/Dolly, who started off being so naive in the prequel but is really growing into herself and learning to be who she truly is in this book. Fierce, fiery, sassy but also affectionate and caring Dolly is the character you can’t help but love and her guys can’t help but agree. The guys are all very different and their stories are so very intriguing, I do have a soft spot for Nico though! This is certainly a one of a kind book with fantastic world building, it’s steam filled, action packed, with an on point plot that had me absolutely cracking up laughing to feeling absolute heartbreak.

This book puts a whole new spin on apex prey-dators. It’s a funny and detailed spin on the predator/ prey relationship and a whole world created to handle all the challenges. Dolly comes from a predator family and when she changes into a bunny it puts her whole life in a tailspin. But she is definitely not a bunny to take it laying down so she adapts to her unique situations. She learns quickly she is not as worthless and unlovable as she has been made to believe. This is such a great book. I can’t wait for the next one. I loved the depth of this work and the characters. I loved how Dolly transformed throughout the book and how we learn about her love interests a little at a time. This is on the slow burn side and has multiple POV’s, RH, and lots of laughable moments.

Let Us Prey by Cassandra Featherstone and C. Rochelle is a dark paranormal romance. This is the second book in the Apex Society Caper series.

This is the second book of C. Rochelle and Cassandra's that I have read and it won't be my last. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I am loving the relationship that is blooming between Delores, Sebastian, Cassius, Nicodemus, Aubrey, and Renard. They have their struggles but you can't help but root for them.

The book ends on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series In Prey We Trust to be released on April 21, 2023 so I can get more of their story.

I would highly recommend this series if you like paranormal romances, reverse harem romances, age gap romances, or romantic suspense. This series has a bit of everything and I am loving it!

This book was Epic!! It made me laugh, made me scream, made me fall in love with all the characters without even having to try. Dolly is priceless, a sassy smart ass kick butt heroine who can certainly take care of herself. Her 5 guys are as sexy as hell and different as night and day, even though they are alphas and betas. I loved this book and could not put it down. The nick names, the memes and the movie references had me in stiches. This is totally worth more than 5 stars, and I can not wait for book 2.

This book took me a minute to finish but so worth every flip of the pages . Totally love Dolores aka dolly the prey bunny lol with a special something something you will find out about when you read this book. She’s a tough cookie being bullied and disowned by her own fam just sad . She proves how strong and resilient she is and finally finds a pack to call her own, those 5 sexy professors at Apex. The cliffhanger though wow ! Those of you who have not read this book need to hurry up and get on board with this Bunny and her crew, you won’t be disappointed.

Ohmagawd...I loved this story. Dolly is absolutely awesome for everything she's had to deal with growing up and then being an outcast by her parents and friends. I love that she took charge of her life and living it the way she wants. It doesn't hurt that she has 5 awesome guys at her back. Nico is my favorite little fox. Bash is wild and crazy and needs his head and heart checked when it comes to Nico. Cash needs to let go a bit. Renny and Aubrey make an awesome duo. Can't wait for book 2!

I am so grateful I have been with C for a while and was able to get an ARC of this early. BUT now I'm mad I have longer to wait for #2.

This story is slow burn but very sexy. Funny AF and full of tension and mystery. It's shifters and mythical creatures that are hot sexy and smart. Outcasts and found family. You will laugh and yell at the characters.

Can't wait for the next!

Let us Prey is a totally different take on the shifter Academy/College trope.
Delores was given a bad hand when her animal emerged and she turned out to be prey in a world where predators rule. However don’t count this bunny out. She has claws and isn’t afraid to use them!
The guys? Well from the start the guys are totally drawn to Delores and I thoroughly enjoyed their backstories and each of their progressing relationships with Delores. The relationships they are building solo as well as a group leaves me wanting more.
The ‘murder mystery’ aspect has me on the edge of my seat wanting more.
I cannot wait to see what happens next in this world and see the relationships and characters build upon what is a great foundation. I’m greatly looking forward to seeing the mystery unwrap as there is still so much more to come!

“I’m not even sure how to praise this story. Running out of words can actually happen when you want to shout the world about an incredible story but at the same time you can tell details. Complicated much?!!

First thing is, please don’t waist a second a read this story, you won’t regret it. Probably, you’ll try to be Spencer Reid and read 20,000 per minute lol… been there because I was hooked and not ashamed to confess. Both C and Cass slayed my expectation and blew my mind. What an incredible team they are! Amazing!

All I’m gonna say is… humor… guaranteed, aventure and danger… you aren’t ready for it, hot and sexy…. prepare yourself *wink wink*

The amount of timethe authors had to put in to this world has to be insane. Everything has an ironic fun name that goes with the Pred/Prey world. All a play off of something we use or know right here in 2022. Plus the little puns used as disses or affections towards each other are amazing.

We start with D starting at Apex after the whole ordeal in the prequel. She is struggling to fit in and survive at school. Also in her relationship if you can even call them that (her opinion not me).

The men are broody and also unsure of what to do with D. Shes young, she’s prey, and well her mom is psychotic.

Then at the very end we get two twist one D is more than she seems. Two sweet Nico went and broke the heart of us all.

This book is soooooo good! I love these characters. Delores is sassy and sweet while learning who she truly is and wants to be. Her guys are all sexy and secretive but she is busting her way into their hearts. Such a viscous little bunny with a heart of gold!

Incredible, well written and unique.

Dolores (previously known as DD) really comes into her own in this book.
Be sure to read the Preyquel first though, as quite a lot won't make sense without it, and seeing the characters evolve between the books is just perfection.
This book didn't have as much smutt as I imagined it would, but the smutt it did have was fantastic and sexy AF.
Dolores and her men are all well written, well hashed out characters who all have their own unique quirks and personality.
The storyline was intriguing and flowed well.
I can't believe I have to wait almost an entire year for the next one.
Would happily recommend
