Generations II is the historical saga of Teodulfo Dizon from the time he was a houseboy in the U.S. Military sector of the Philippine Islands through his journey to the United States. The book follows him and his two best friends as they start new lives in San Antonio, Texas. Teodulfo marries young and struggles to raise his family while becoming active in the Filipino community. Teodulfo's story is that of many immigrants who sacrifice to make sure their children have a place at the table. His friends are the other side of the coin. With this story, John Dizon has firmly established himself as a master of the genre.

There is something about a story laying out the life of a person from his youth to his death. I suppose all of us would love to have our story told, have our lives memorialized. Perhaps that is the draw of this kind of book. I give the story five stars because of the characters and the interplay of them all in the telling of the life of Teodulfo Bical Dizon. I won't tell you about the story. I will say there are a few errors but nothing to distract. In the end this was/is a good story, the life of one man and all its connections. Read it. You will enjoy as much as I did.
