he story in this book revolves around a young girl named Amanda who is a procrastinator. She doesn't have "time" to practice her chess skills, to read her brother a pirate book or to help her sister prepare a birthday card for her dad. One day she wakes at 7 a.m. to a dark sky and an empty house. Amanda discovers that her family is missing and that she is condemned to live her life in darkness because she has wasted too much precious time. After talking with the moon, Amanda permits him to guide her to The Tree of Life where she must release her wasted time from a bottle marked with her name. Along the way, Amanda meets other characters who assist her in completing former projects. Will Amanda arrive at The Tree of Time in time to resume life with her family?

This book is targeted for ages five through twelve. The story is better suited for beginning readers, though some of the vocabulary words might prove challenging for the younger reader. I would especially recommend it for children under ten. Parents and teachers will find it a useful way to address the problem of procrastination and inefficient use of time.

Ok just a few things.
Lost time cannot be reclaimed, it is lost forever. Better teach people how to deal with that instead. Trying to reclaim lost time only leads to misery: guilt, shame, sadness etc.

Also moms don't live in kitchens. Opportunity missed for women's rights.

(y'all can't reclaim these past mistakes, but you can learn and do better next print or edition, that's how time works)

i read this as an adult wanting to find a way to improve my spanish rather than for a book to enjoy. it was great from that point of view. the sentence first in english than spanish meant i was familiar with the meaning when trying to read the spanish

Amanda and the Lost Time

This was a great and inspirational book to children about using their time. It is a great book about don't put things off tomorrow what you can do today. Children can learn about cleaning up their toys and putting other things away before their parents have to tell them. Good pictures and color usage.
