This is the first time I’ve read a collection of short stories that’s tied together by a collaborator prologue and epilogue. I wish more would have this level of cohesiveness to them.

Each short story surrounded a different type of shifter and I was mainly intrigued by the polar bear story, so that’s the one I dove into and am leaving a review for:

🐻TITLE: Polar Opposites by Krista Ames

🐻BLURB: 𝗛𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿.
Dane Mitchell was happy living a quiet, single existence near the cozy shifter town they’d grown up in. That is until his sister Dylan did her usual meddling and convinced him to participate in a shifter auction. It was for a good cause she’d said. And it was, but he wasn’t sure it was good for his heart.
𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱.
Adison James hadn’t been back to her hometown in a long time. It wasn’t your typical town and she had gotten spooked. She caught the first bus out of town and didn’t look back. As a favor to a friend whom she’d always kept in touch with, she decided it was time to come back home to spend a little money, mend a few fences and heal a couple broken hearts, including her own.
𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿?

🐻REVIEW: This is a clean read, second chance romance. Dane’s meddling sister has set him up for the ultimate reunion with the ex who jilted him by way of this auction. And when they reunite it’s nothing short of a hesitantly cute moment. Hopefully the author follows through and gives us book 2 - Polar Attraction sooner rather than later.

This boxset has some great reads written by some great authors.
My review is for Charming Her Mate by Laura Greenwood.
This is a story about characters from the authors Paranormal Council series. It’s an entertaining story about a unicorn and a dragon who meet at an auction to save a young shifter with usd that will kill him if he doesn’t find a cure and they begin dating. There’s action, drama, humour, steam and romance and is a fab addition to this series.

This anthology in the Shifters Unleashed series revolves around a charity auction event, where humans and shifters can bid on both male and female shifters of any variety, to raise money for a ten year old boy called Kevin, who has come down with Uniform Shifters Disease. A disease that has affected many in the small town and elsewhere. Hopefully a cure could be found in time to stop Kevin being stuck in either his human or shifted form, for the rest of his life. Many have relatives that have either died from the disease, been affected by it or are now carriers of the disease, leaving many not wanting to bring any children into the world and leave them to suffer as Kevin and others have. For a shifter there would be nothing worse than not being able to shift at will and they would slowly become out of control, usually dying within a few years.
There are tales from each of the separate authors, each with a different shifter type involved, some with shifter and human pairings, some a shifter looking for a shifter, and of course, those hoping that they may even find their fated mate, as many have come from far and wide, to return to their former home town and support the event. I only knew one of the authors names from the list and was going to pick and choose a couple of the stories to read, but as soon as I had read a few of them, I just couldn’t put it down. Yes, all of them have bid for a participant in the auction and get a whole twenty four hours for a date with that person, or in one case, a two for one date, and some were reluctant to take part. But all were doing it for a good cause and to raise as much money for Kevin and others like him for research and to find a cure. There are some over-zealous bidders, a few cat-fights amongst the crowd with all the bare shifter torsos on offer, but also some older shifters of both female and male persuasion and not all just in their twenties either. They all have their reasons for being there and may have been tricked or coerced into taking part, but that just makes the event more interesting. Just don’t get on the wrong side of the twins!
Lots of favourite stories in the book, but I will leave it to other readers to find their own, as one shifter doesn’t suit all, but there is plenty to choose from. Some with lots of steam, some with just an old fashioned romance and others with previous partners or enemies coming together. Lots to choose from and enjoy and I just couldn’t put it down, reading it all the way through in one go! I can’t wait to see what they bring together next in this series. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Great Collection for a Great Cause

This is an excellent collection with a wide variety of shifter tales. Each is centered around an auction to help a young shifter, Kevin, who is afflicted by USD (Uniform Shifter's Disease). The goal is to raise money to help with research and possibly a cure. The solution of having an auction is a brilliant way to showcase an amazing range of authors. Some of the more rare shifter species are included and there is a wide range of romance, laugh out loud humor, and hot steamy scenes. In the end, it's all about trying to save a young shifter. This is a great start if you have not read these authors before. For the most part the stories are well written with good dialogue and conclusions. The pacing in most of the stories is good. The secondary characters are well-done. Since some of these introduce or deal with other series, there is a good chance of seeing the most intriguing secondary characters in other books.
I highly recommend this collection.

Example:
For Laura Greenwood entry: Molly and Drayce

This is a cute, short, quick read. The romance sizzles over a date that is won by auction. The chemistry between Molly and Drayce is hot, hot, and so hot! The pacing is excellent, the story is well-written, and the secondary characters are memorable. I hope to see at least two of them in future entries regarding the Council. I loved that this focused in part on one of the more rare paranormal types: the unicorn. While dragons are common in shifter tales, unicorns are not. I also found the humor and funny lines to be excellent. I can't wait for the next short story in this series!

Adult Dragon/human PNR novella

He's an introverted country farmer dragon in a charity auction. She's a shifter-sympathetic financier from the city. Lust at first sight plus a case of a little knowledge leads to so much more. Are they ready and willing to work things out?

I gave this 3.5 ** because this story moved way too fast with not enough plot/ sex scene ratio. I understand dragons are magnetic, passionate, induviduals who want to make sure their mates stick around, but we go lightening speed to baby number two in almost as many pages. Was this basically a proposal for a possible novel or did the author run out if time half way through so had to give readers a quick sumerized epilogue instead? I'm not asking for "War and Peace" length, just a bit more story in the middle before the epilogue, unless all the stories were limited to under 30 pages (including other works lists)? There are was too much left out of this for me to give it a higher rating alone. Maybe if I were able to read the anthology of all of them together it might gell for me. Does that make me a greedy reader? Maybe.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW of Shifters for a Cause: A Shifter Auction Shared World Collection by Shifters Unleashed. This is an amazing anthology with some great stories by heavy hitting authors. I loved the format of the reads, the story begins at a shifter auction to raise funds for Kevin, a shifter child afflicted with USD (Uniform Shifter's Disease), this disease affects the shifters ability to shift between their animal and human forms. Eventually the shifter is forced into one form (be it animal or human) and results in death. So all the shifters and humans come together to raise money for research and treatment by offering 24-hour dates with shifters through auction. Each story, by a different author, follows the bidding and date process for a different type of shifter. Loaded with humor, drama, angst, sexy heat and sweet HEAs, this is a series of reads not to be missed. It is a Mature Readers Only read and some of the stories do read as introductions to other series.

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by obtaining a copy through Booksprout.

Shifters for a Cause . . .

This was a wonderful collection of stories based on the theme of a charity auction being given for a sick boy, 10-year-old Kevin, who would lose his ability to shift to his animal form, and the town comes together to help out.

The stories focus on individual shifters auctioned for a date. This was a possible way for each shifter to find a mate. I loved the variety of shifters presented and seeing how the dates turned out. This was a really clever approach and a nice collection the authors provided for our entertainment. Along with some familiar names, there are new authors as well to add to your “favorites” list. Grab your copy and enjoy!

Shifters For a Cause is a collection of fantastic stories with a variety of shifters. I loved that all of the stories were tied together by single shifters auctioning themselves off to help a ten-year-old boy/shifter who loses his ability to shift to his animal form because of a rare disease called Uniform Shifters Disease (USD). I loved all of the stories in this collection but one of my favorites is Charming Her Mate by Laura Greenwood. I loved that the characters are tied to The Paranormal Council series. I love reading collections like this with a group of authors because I get to read stories from authors I already read plus I get to find new to me authors at the same time. I look forward to reading more books by these authors in the future. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

I love this cause...

Over the years I've seen/read a lot of fundraising boxsets, and I live that the cause here is in-Universe yet very relatable. It maintains the escapism I enjoy in my reading, while feeling relevant in so many wonderful ways.

Dragon With A Cause by McKayla Schutt

A Dragon signs up to be auctioned off, not really sure what he'll do for their date, but when a woman from out of town isn't only the winning bidder, but catches the interest of every part of him, he realizes the cause may not be the only ones coming out ahead.

This is a fun, done in one quick read, in a collection of stories tied together by the auction.

I really enjoy boxsets/anthologies like this (particularly when I find them in Kindle Unlimited). I'm drawn in by either a premise I'm intrigued by, or an author I know, and delighted by the chance to discover new-to-me authors.

This is a twelve-book collection about shifters auctioning themselves off to help a ten-year-old shifter who has Uniform Shifters Disease. A rare blood disease that will stop him from shifting and eventually kill him unless a cure is found. Each book is about a shifter and the person who bought them for the twenty-four-hour date period. Some of the dates are pre-planned while others are so unexpected that the shifter gets upset over the date. There are some unexpected things that happen and this causes problems with one couple.
The auction raised up enough money to do what they needed to do and more.
This was a wonderful collection of books about shifters and I would recommend it to anyone.

It all starts out with a town holding an shifter auction to fund research for a boy with a disease that is plaguing the shifter community. And the stories that are in this book were a riot. Some were outright hilarious. A few were super steamy, some had some action or danger, and ranged from small to a dragon shifter. Fro the typical shifter species like a tiger to a gargoyle to a unicorn to a dragon. All were fun to read and entertaining and hot. Some were from series and some were stand alone books.

For instance like Charming her Mate for Laura Greenwood is about characters from the Paranormal Council series. It made me laugh as a unicorn and a dragon meet at the auction and end up dating. And what fun they have with each other.

I really enjoyed this book with stories from several different authors. All the stories revolve around an auction of single shifters to raise money for Kevin, a 10 year old shifter who has a rare disease that prevents him from shifting from his human to animal form and will eventually kill him unless a cure is found. The unattached shifters are auctioned off for 24 hours of who knows what. The results are funny, sometimes steamy, sometimes surprising, and if the shifters are lucky, they may even find their mates. I enjoyed the variety of stories and the diversity of shifters (from the normal like wolves and tigers to the fantastical like dragons and unicorns.) Great reading!

Many shifer single men and women sign up to be auctioned off for the fund raiser. Each story in the collection is a human /shifter couple who were brought together by the auction. Second chances are given and fated mates are found. This is a great set of stories.

Binge worthy collection of twelve shifter romances that stem from a charity auction for a boy with a shifter blood disease. Some will find fun and others will find their fated mate. All have steamy times. The characters are large and small so that is unique to this set. The storylines and authors are a variety I have not seen before and really liked. Loved finding a few new authors that I will look forward to reading more from. Wish there were even more stories in this set as I did not want to see it end.

This is a group of thirteen stories set in a shared world where a young boy has developed a blood disorder called Uniform Shifters Disease. The small town bands together for a benefit where they auction off shifters from possums to dragons. The stories are all great reads although one ended too abruptly in my opinion leaving me full of questions. There were also a few errors in some of the stories, both grammatical and in consistency. However, overall, the anthology was well-written with wonderful characters. I was drawn into each read and kept hooked, and really enjoyed this collection. I highly recommend it.

This is a selection of stories by different authors. The premise is a shifter child has a rare disease that will eventually prevent them from shifting between human and his animal form.

Each short story was about one of the auctioned and the winner bidder. Some stories had hot sexy scenes, some were more action, others a nice romance.

I did feel some of the stories were rushed, however overall they were reasonably good short reads, that you can pick up, spend 5-15 minutes reading and then put it down.

This is a good collection of stories of mixed shifters, including a gargoyle, who participated in the auction and the humans that won them. The first story, Polar Opposites ended up on a cliffhanger. The rest though are of different length and of different varieties. I haven't finished reading of all them but so far I enjoyed reading them.

One good thing though, the auction resulted in the shifters finding their mates.

Each story was of a shifter who was auctioned for a date and what happened during that date. All the stories were excellent and gave me the opportunity to read new authors. I downloaded the ARC copy of Laura Greenwood's Charming Her Mate from Booksprout. The review that follows are my own thoughts.
The anthology has twelve stories listed with various authors. I read the above book, and now I'm thinking I need to read the rest. Some of the stories I understand are off-shoots to other series that the authors have come up with.
The story I read was a 45 pager that kept me intrigued. I enjoyed the story of Molly (a Unicorn) and Drayce (a Dragon)- a pairing I hadn't read about before! This is short is part of Laura Greenwood's Paranormal Council series.

This box set has a lot of short stories all starting at the same place a shifter auction to help a child. I loved the stories but was very disappointed in the some of the stories and how short it was and then just cut off on the ending. It really didn't give you much more of the story. This was worse than a cliff hanger since it did not continue in the next story.

The set of books starts with Kevin's mom trying to figure out how to get her barn ready for the auction. Her son has Uniform Shifter's disease and without a cure he'll eventually be stuck in one form and die. Her sister has everything planned though and the community shows up to help with the set up. There are many different shiters from: wolves, dragons, panthers and even possums. This is a great boxet, I really enjoyed it.

In a small town that is shifter friendly, people organise an auction of 24-hours with the person they win. The reason for the auction is a small boy, who is severely ill and needs funds to have a chance at getting better. Each story picks one contestant and how they find their partner for life through this auction.
Each sotory is unique, wirtten by a different author and more of a novelette, but all have in common, that they are engaging the reader and are wll-written and entertaining.

This is a really well done multi author anthology with a clever setup. A young shifter boy has a disease and a charity auction is set up. What’s up for bid are dates with various shifters and each story tells about the winning bidder and their date. Some are complete one off stories while others introduce an author’s series. All are enjoyable and I even found a couple new authors to read. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
