The Sound of Temptation

Rate this book
The Sound of Temptation, an epic and emotional second chance forbidden romance from USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Dylan Allen.

Unbelievably gorgeous, wildly talented, and on the cusp of stardom, Carter Bosch was the kind of man I’d never dared to dream of.
But the summer he showed up in my small town - city slick and full of promises -
He put stars in my eyes and hope in my heart.
He called me his muse and said we were meant to be.
And until the day he broke my heart, I believed him.
Ten years later, his reputation tarnished by scandal and personal tragedy, Carter’s back.
He begins a relentless pursuit to win me back, but those stars in my eyes have been replaced by flames.
And for a chance to claim my ticket to freedom, I made a deal with the devil that I dare not break.
But, a rock god fallen from grace is still a god,
And a woman with her walls up, is still a woman.
Soon, my foolish heart is torn between duty and desire.
When it finally falls, he stands ready to claim it.

Just when we think we can see forever, a dark secret is revealed that rips us apart.
Loving him is forbidden, but my heart can’t let him go.
Because Carter and I are meant to be.
And what’s meant to be will find a way.

Our love story isn't your everyday romance. And I know it’ll never end. Because this is us… And us, is forever.

I am obsessed with Beth and Carter! Dylan Allen has this way about writing characters that speak to you and I am so in love with this story.

I’m always here for a second chance romance and Beth and Carter’s was one of the best. Carter meets Beth one summer and they both fall hard for one another. That summer was everything for both of them. But things happen and miscommunication comes up, and they spend the next decade apart.

When Beth and Carter meet again, it’s not an easy path for them to be together. They go through so many obstacles, but their love is stronger. There was some drama and angst, but it only made the happily ever after between these two that much sweeter.

I don’t want to talk too much about the story, because you need to experience these gasp worthy moments for yourself, but I will speak about the characters. I adored Carter, but Beth… Beth is QUEEN. She is one of those heroines you can’t help but to completely fall for. So strong and relatable, and honestly she made this book for me. We all love a good hero, but when there is a heroine I have this much admiration for, it really makes the book for me.

I love romances that are full of passion, and no one writes passion quite like this author. If you want a romance that is passionate, epic, raw and gritty at times, heartbreaking but also healing, I can’t recommend this one enough. These characters and this book will stay with me.

*takes a deep breath*
Okayyy...having read all these glowing 5 star reviews, I know I’m in the minority with my thoughts on this one...but, I genuinely felt like I was reading something different to everyone else, or maybe I had a defective copy.

The author acknowledges her editor and proofreader at the end of this book which I find rather shocking because the whole thing is littered with spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes, as well as various inconsistencies in the story. The heroine is referred to as Beth throughout (her full name is Elizabeth) yet about 50% in, the hero starts referring to her as Liz...and then reverts back to Beth a couple of sentences later.
There are huge plot holes; characters randomly appearing for no reason at all and having no overall effect on the story. I found it bizarre that the heroine (Beth) had a sister called Bethany - this felt like it was decided purely to create a case of mistaken identity that added nothing to the storyline at all.
The constant back and forth between the two drove me crazy. They would have wild sex and declare their love for one another and realise they were soulmates, but Beth still decided to marry someone else and Carter was shagging his sobriety coach. This kept happening over and over again and it finally got to the point where I couldn’t care less if they were together or not.
Don’t get me started on the part of the storyline that sees Lexi and Carter torn apart because they find out they are siblings. *rolls eyes* Everything was just so over the top and unbelievable. Don’t worry though, her mum (who hasn’t been in the story at all because she left the family years back) decides to appear one day near the end and puts everything right.

Maybe it’s just me being too picky, but the whole thing was so disjointed and there were far too many errors; I kept having to go back and reread parts to make sure I’d understood it correctly. I really was disappointed by the whole thing and what’s even more disappointing are all the misleading reviews calling this book “absolutely phenomenal” - I will no longer be reading arc reviews before making my choice of what to read next.

Love - at any given moment we're either blissfully happy or hating it, apprehensive of it or wanting more..what's worth it? How far are you willing to go for that special one and where are the boundaries?!
And how do we pick up the pieces after everything falls apart?

That's the agony Elizabeth and Carter are going through.

An ultimate love story, remarkable, real & raw, a heart-gripping journey worth your time. This is one of those books I just want to hold close to my heart and never let go.
It's incredibly passionate, secretive, ruthless and so unique.
And I cant wait for you guys to read it! I cannot recommend it enough!

A sweeping story of ill-fated love that will cement your belief in soul mates. I could not put it down, couldn't unentangle myself from its gripping hold. Carter Bosch & Elisabeth Mortimer barged into my soul and just set camp. I found myself swooning, falling in love, and then crying with pain as they both go through life. The first half of the book is all rosy with dreams when the heightening ardor gets your pulse racing to orgasmic levels. And equally jarring is the crash that ensues after the lethal turn of events.

description

A Rollercoaster ride Mottled with memorable emotions and intense sentiments, it brands you with indelible ink of undying love.
“ You asked me when I'd stop trying;
I said never.
You asked me how long I'd love you.
I told you forever."

Carter comes to Winsome, E Texas to escape from limelight and spotlights of his famous life. Dancing under the Starlight and by a bonfire on a beach, he meets his destiny - Beth. The memorable summer they both spend lost in each other leaves them both aching for more.

description

Following unfortunate events, their paths run in opposite directions. It takes them years to weed out the thorns in their paths and be together back again but when Dylan puts in the ULTIMATE boulder in their path which seems a dead end for their love story, I was left aghast and agape, virtually speechless as to how the story will proceed further.
I HOWLED, legit SCREAMED. Omg how will they recover from this bombshell Dylan has dropped on us.😭😭😭
To say that it twists your heart with grief would be an understatement.
It's jarring, it shakes the ground beneath your feet and the ultimate disastrous secret when unleashed, there's no recovering from it. I don't know how I read past it.
Carter's Music plays an important part in conveying the moods and scenes of the book. as does the symbolic paintings of Beth. They pour their heart out in their art which carries the story forward.

description

Dylan has been known to create self respecting, strong heroines. They take everything the life throws at them with quiet dignity and pride and Beth is no exception. Her resilience, her loyalty is tested to the limits yet she doesn't buckle under. An epitome of Southern grit and tenacity.
Carter is stuff dreams are made of. He's sexy, charming, a musical genius. His heartache bleeds into his songs and just won me over with his words
You have to experience this slow burn, second chance, epic saga to have your soul crushed and pieced together again.

I am constantly in awe of this woman's writing, as someone who has read all of Dylan Allen's books I fancy myself a bit of a super fan and she never disappoints me!

I can't pinpoint what I love the most about her stories because I don't think it's just one thing but a combination of many. It's the way she curates her characters, it's the rich destinations she takes us to, the purposeful words she uses and the way she uses them. It's impossible not to fall in love with her books and the things she writes stick with you, always....I always walk away with a book hangover, I always walk away more knowledgeable and more enamored with her work.

The Sound of Temptation is on another level, I think this is the most I've ever gasped reading a book, Allen hits us hard in the feels, there's one jaw dropping revelation after another and I couldn't read it fast enough! Emotional, angsty, brilliant, explosive and sexy.....I honestly wish it didn't have to end.

In The Sound of Temptation,Dylan Allen weaves an epic tale of epic love that transcends all obstacles, boundaries and challenges. A timeless love story painted with the author's intense writing and sung by some unforgettable and incredibly inspiring characters.

Beth and Carter's journey started on a playful summer saturated with all consuming passion, swoonworthy memories and blissful emotions. And their hearts got shattered over a simple misunderstanding. Fast forward in time and ten years later, Beth and Carter's paths have crossed again. Carter is on path of self destruction and only the shadow of the former rock god remains. And Beth is still trying to get out of her manipulative and cruel father's grip by sacrificing her happiness.Time has not reduced their passion and attraction at all. But their time is not right. And the ugly secret comes out. Will they ever find their happily ever after?

Dylan Allen always excels at bringing out extreme emotions from the readers. And this heartaching angsty story is no exception. Through this emotional rollercoaster, I experienced the growth and evolution of Beth and Carter. When we first met Carter he was the typical tortured musician battling his demons. And Beth was struggling against her own grief and insecurities. That summer ignited something in both of them and that brutal heartbreak changed them forever. Ten years later, Carter has gone down a dark hole. Bitter. Angry. Broken. And Beth is dejected and frustrated with very little hope of living free. Now this part of their life is all about breaking moulds, working through issues and rebuilding themselves. They are forbidden. They have too much pain between them. But they are also inevitable. You could feel the power of their love in your bones. It was a nerve-wracking story where I was on my edge and holding my breath to see what happens next. It was super steamy and the chemistry was insane. Electrifying. Magnetic. And the story filled my heart with warm and sweet feelings too. I loved the brooding, intense, creative, unpredictable and pantymelting hot side of Carter. I loved how Beth became this fierce and unstoppable woman with her soft heart and amazing creativity. She overcame all the negativity and self doubt and spread her metaphorical wings. And their love made it possible.I loved to get immersed into their otherworldly love story! This story is also beautifully diverse.

The Sound of Temptation by Dylan Allen will grab your heart and squeeze it till you feel all the soul deep feels. This story was a celebration of true love in the most honest and real form. One of my all time favourite angsty read.

Back when I originally read this, as the Forever Trilogy, I fell in love with Carter and Beth and their second chance love story. The core of them, of the story, is present in The Sound of Temptation, but the story has been reimagined, and if possible, has become better. The bones are the same though - an emotional rollercoaster of pain, secrets, and love, with two amazing, lovable characters who have scars from their pasts, and find love again with each other.

I still cannot believe Dylan made the original Forever Trilogy even better, but she did, and I love it, love Beth and Carter, and would love it if she were to expand their story even more so I could spend more time with them, reading as they rediscovered each other, fought for each other, and fought for their love.

ARC via author for an honest review.

I had no idea this book was originally part of a trilogy, but is now compacted into this standalone, and I just wish I had known that from the start. This book was truly great, but I felt like SO much happened in such a short amount of time, and now knowing that it was originally a three-part romance, that makes more sense. That's not to say that this was bad by any means, because it truly wasn't, it was just a lot at once.

Carter and Beth met one summer when they were younger, and the attraction between them was so intense, but one miscommunication/misunderstanding tore them apart. Now ten years later, fate seems to be giving them a second chance.. only they STILL have the odds stacked against them. But they still have that same soul connection they had all those years ago, but now it's even more intense, and since they are older they know just how rare that is. When they finally get together, (and BOY do they! *winks*) it's absolutely everything! There was just so much that kept them from each other, which for me, detracted from the overall story.

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**

The story is about Beth (an artist) and Carter (a musician) who meet and fall in love during a three-month period one summer when they’re nineteen. They’re separated because of a family feud and what turns out to be lies and deceit. The story spans a decade as the couple meets again when adults, but still have to fight hard for their second chance and HEA.

The book is a standalone, condensed from a trilogy and, sadly, it shows. Most of the secondary characters are one dimensional, lacking detail and depth, so it’s difficult to connect with them or the storyline. Some characters and situations that appear vital to the narrative are introduced, but never mentioned again. Several scenes also seem to have been crudely truncated; I felt as though I’d been thrown into the middle and expected to understand what had occurred before. There are too many gaps, leaving the reader to wonder if they’ve skipped pages because information crucial to a scene is missing.

Unfortunately, there are copious editing oversights. I was often left backtracking, thinking I’d misread. Or there is too much inconsistent information about something inconsequential. In a pivotal restaurant scene (approx 51%), Beth is referred to as Liz:
“her [random female realtor] smile fades as she looks at the back of Liz’s head”.
And then:
“Liz spins around and steps into the bathroom.”
Who tf is Liz? We assume it’s Beth because her name is actually Elisabeth, but she’s never been referred to as Liz. And then we have the hair debacle. In the same restaurant scene in Beth’s POV she states:
“I run my hands through my now chin-length, dark brown hair.”
And:
“With my hair in a blunt bob that I let Dina cut.”
Later in Carter’s POV, whilst referencing Beth’s hair in the same scene:
“All that hair is gone, but what’s left sits on her head like a crown, dark with loose waves that just barely skim her jaw and fall over her right eye.”
Ok, so far so good, right? Nope ⬇️
“Her hair frames her face in a myriad of dark brown waves, shot through with sun kissed caramel that skim the tops of her bare shoulders.”
“I reach out and brush it off her shoulder”.
So, does Beth’s magical hair skim her shoulders? Is it past her shoulders? Is it jaw/chin length? Is it a mullet bob? Does she have no neck? Why is it essential to the story? I’m so confused.

I really wish I could give this book a higher rating because Dylan Allen is a go-to author for me, but it well and truly falls short. The writing is overly flowery and the story is peppered with plot holes, timeline discrepancies, countless punctuation and grammar mistakes, and bad editing. The latter was distracting and completely marred my enjoyment of the book. I was left so irritated and disappointed that I’d be hesitant to recommend it.

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Storytime. I teach college writing. I’ve taught college writing for seventeen years. Twice a year, for sixteen weeks, I sit with student writing, pouring out feedback and inspiration to jettison students into better forms of their writing. The focus of my instruction is getting students to work a process because we know that process breeds better writing. One aspect of the writing process that is the hardest to teach and facilitate is revision. It requires writers to completely deconstruct hard-fought ideas and words. No one wants to walk away from the words they’ve produced. Those words and ideas feel like our children. And I struggle to help students let go of something they don’t want to let go of.

I’ve been reading Dylan Allen for some time. I listened to the first story that inspired her most recent release, The Sound of Temptation, via Read Me Romance, and I was slain by the pain of that short story. When she decided to expand it into her Forever Trilogy (Between Now and Forever, Between Now and Heartbreak, and Between Now and Always), I was so excited because that Read Me Romance story wasn’t enough. I wanted more.

With the Forever Trilogy, she absolutely gave us more. I think sometimes too much. However, by Between Now and Always, the story had hit its groove, and she ended that trilogy beautifully. But I think she felt a calling back to those stories, a want to revise them. So…she did, and she gave us The Sound of Temptation. Now, I want to give you the negative of this story and end with the positives of it. There is an issue with the exposition of The Sound of Temptation. She has issues with continuity and transitions because this brave author took three very heady stories and compiled them into one. This is so difficult. In those original books, there were incredible moments of pain and growth and the beauty of romance. To take all of those moments and place them into this newest book, is overwhelming.

Now, the beauty of The Sound of Temptation is its revision of chronology (the timeline of the story), its dialogue, and the inclusion of the original stories’ best moments. The chronology of this revision is better, in my opinion. Yes, the transitions are rough, but this chronology makes more sense in the scope of a single book. Even more, Dylan Allen’s prose, the moments of conversation in this book, are GORGEOUS with a capital G. There are pieces of this book that are spell-binding and exquisite. Beth is still a better character than Carter, but by the story’s end, they are equal in their likability. Lastly, Dylan chose the best parts of her original stories. She cut the chaff of the original books, proffering up the best moments of Carter and Beth’s story.

I think it’s brave for an author to take published stories, ones that they had completed, and revise them into something better. That, however, takes a strength that many don’t have because it’s hard to let go of words and ideas that we hold dear. Additionally, it can be difficult to see the forest through the trees when we’ve spent so much time with two beloved characters and their stories. I salute Dylan for her bravery. I think The Sound of Temptation is a special story, replete with characters who will steal your heart if you allow them that space. Above anything else, this book is all emotion reminding us that beauty comes from within.

If ever there was to be a book to initiate one into the realm of romance reading, The Sound of Temptation would be IT! Having a book hit on all cylinders can often be considered a great rarity, but, by me, Dylan Allen has managed to call upon all the literary gods to achieve such utter greatness.

To know Beth and Carter so thoroughly by the end of this book, is to know how substantial and absolute a love can truly be. Following these two through crucial peaks and valleys evoked such true emotion in me. And without a doubt, going through immense, ardent whiplash became so addictive during my read of TSOT. I needed to see, that for every action, there was a reaction between these two. And with every turn of the page, I was never disappointed.

In Beth and Carter, Dylan Allen created two monumental characters that are destined to stand the test of time. The love they share is so magnanimous and profound, never to be duplicated. Because in of itself, it is unique, soul- shattering, and earth-shaking. And for me, experiencing all those things in one book, is unheard of.

The stout barricades and turmoil they somehow conquer, truly define their story; and provide for substantial character evolution. Their passion, whether in the moment of loathe or love, rolls off the pages and into your soul, never leaving you untouched. It's a story that seizes hold without leaving you unaffected.

Know this, The Sound of Temptation is, simply put - EPIC! When a story is as affecting as this is, a trace of physical emotion is all but expected. And there was no exception for me. It is evident that such great care and thought for elaboration and ease of progression went into Beth and Carter's story. And it is for this reason, this story is so remarkable, and leaves such an impression on your heart.

This book is everything! It is emotional, romantic, heartbreaking, steamy, and all around an epic love story. The Sound of Temptation is a beautifully written, riveting second chance romance that elicited all the feels. I was immediately pulled into the story and found myself laughing, crying, and swooning. Yes, I was a hot mess while reading parts of this book, but I will tell you that this is a novel that you don’t want to miss!

Carter and Beth are lovable, complex characters that are perfectly flawed. They both possess an inner strength about them that is admirable but they also vulnerable in ways that make them seem so real. Their story is unique and not for the faint of heart. It was heart wrenching at times to witness what they all went through, but their undying love is something to be hopeful about. There are secrets revealed that will leave you reeling and you are wondering just how it’s possible for these two to overcome all their insurmountable obstacles. Yet a soul connection such as theirs cannot be denied and one cannot help but feel the magnetic pull between them. Their love is something truly to be admired and I absolutely adored Carter and Beth.

The Sound of Temptation is a completely reworked version of the Forever Trilogy. There are several parts that are new, but some of the elements from the trilogy are also present and more flushed out in this book. The essence of all that is Beth and Carter is still captured within these pages. I love this book and I love the trilogy for both similar and different reasons. If you’ve read The Forever Trilogy, then you need this book. If you haven’t read The Forever Trilogy, you need this book.

I voluntarily read an early version of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

The Sound of Temptation is a completely reworked version of the Forever Trilogy. This story is an emotional, romantic, steamy love story that was well written and gave me all the feels. Beth and Carter were flawed, likable characters who had to overcome so much to be together. Their story is both heartbreaking and inspiring and they had an unwavering love that could not be diminished. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to romance lovers.

Editing ruined a good story.

This book had so much potential. I really loved it when I started. But it's like the editor quit partway through the book. There are so many errors, it's impossible not to get distracted. I try hard not to let editing impact how I feel about a story, but this one is clearly two separate versions of the same story, and it's like parts of the old story got left in the new one and it doesn't make any sense. I enjoy this author's work, and I'll continue to read her work, but this one was a mess.

All the feels. Dylan weaves her words into such an amazing story that pulled at all my emotions. I was hooked right from the beginning and was turning the pages as fast as I could not wanting to stop reading for any period of time. I could not for the life of me put this book down.

Beth and Carter have undeniable chemistry. Right from their first meeting you could feel the gravitational pull between them. They can’t deny that intense connection, but so many obstacles stand in their way. No matter what though, their feelings for each other never waiver. And there’s no question that they’re destined for each other.

The Sound of Temptation consumed me. So many feels felt for this second chance romance. Carter and Beth’s journey isn’t easy, but in the end the emotional ride they put you through will be well worth it. Dylan Allen once again weaves her brilliance in an unforgettable love story—simply impeccable.

5⭐ MUST READ!!

Dylan Allen knocked it OUT OF THE PARK!!

Carter and Beth's story is fantastic, it runs the gamut of emotion from love to hate, and back again, and DA** the sex is HOT!!

Carter is the quintessential rock God with all the screwed up past, demons hiding in plain sight, and stunted emotional growth that so often seems to come with these amazing men. And yet, to simply label him those things is to miss huge pieces of him as a person, he's worth so much more than all those would suggest.

Elizabeth has grown up hiding in plain sight. All she knows is everyone she loves leaves, and for whatever reason her father hates her. She can't find peace because no matter what else might happen, her father insists she ruined his life, and he's apparently determined to make her pay for it.

This book is an epic battle of will they, or won't they, forbidden love, with me wanting to take both characters and most of the side characters to task from time to time. A lot of the characters in this book from the very beginning are toxic, but I firmly believe it's because of the lies that have been told to them or will be told to them over the course of their lives. How can we expect anyone to grow as a person when they don't know the truth of their past, and the truth of their future is being hidden from them?

I'm absolutely floored by Dylan's ability to take a book that spans decades, and includes so many pieces, and gives us the beauty of her love for language, the depth of the scenery in East Texas and New York, and her love for giving us the best romance only she can write!

5 gorgeous star's for The Sound of Temptation, it is firmly in my top 20 must reads for 2021!!

I wish I could tell everyone the reasons why I truly believe this was an epic love story. But... then I’d end up spoiling it. Which is something I don’t want to do.

I felt the hurt and the love. I felt it in my body and in my soul. There have only been a few authors that have made me feel this way and Dylan Allen has made that list.

Side note: the cover is amazing. Just putting that out there. Whew! I will gladly stare at the model all day long if I could.

Beth and Carter meet one summer when they are both 19. It was instant chemistry and their relationship lasted until summer was over and Carter had to leave (he’s also a famous singer).

Due to a huge misunderstanding (one that had me SO mad but my girl Beth asked Carter exactly what I was thinking, later on in the book) the two move on and spend a decade apart.

Beth, trying to live her life without having her dad control it, strikes a deal with someone comparable to the Devil himself. Carter is sent the news by someone as everything is on social media these days and he’s reminded of the love he’s lost.

The two end up in one another’s presence once again as Carter has to go back to Winsome and handle some family business. We are then taken on an emotional, love induced roller coaster. The biggest hurdles are thrown in Beth and Carter’s direction but they deal with it as best as they can. There were moments where they weren’t together and ones where they couldn’t keep their hands off each other.

That’s life. That’s epic love. Some love is easy but some love can be hard (granted if it’s one person causing issues then it’s just stupidity). They had issues but ones that were out of their control. Beth is so badass and does what she can to live her best life. Carter, loves whole heartedly and feels everything. Also, the sex scenes are SO freakin good. Had me sweating and stuff.

Hands down, The Sound Of Temptation is the BEST book Dylan Allen has ever written. I’m in awe of this book, the outstanding storyline and the phenomenal characters, Carter and Beth. They’re by far, the best couple I’ve ever read. Carter and Beth consumed me and I fell for them so hard. Dylan Allen does a fantastic job of delivering a heartbreaking, emotionally intense romance coupled with just the right amount sensuality and panty melting sex.

For several reasons, the odds are stacked against Carter and Beth. Their journey isn’t easy and although it’s probably the hardest I’ve ever read, it’s so worth it. Beth is trapped so to speak and wants so much more for herself. She’s in a cage but when she’s able to spread her wings, she truly flourishes, her strength shines through and she’s amazing. I just love everything about her sweet nature, she has a heart of gold and possesses an incredible amount of strength. Carter is a magnificent and talented man who is relentless in his fight for Beth and proves his worth like no other.

The Sound Of Temptation’s storyline is beautifully executed over time and the main characters growth along with the story development is perfection. My soul yearned for everything in this book especially the feel good, courageous and inspirational moments. This couples deep, beautiful love and connection is unparalleled. And if there is ever a couple that deserves an HEA, it’s these two. Carter and Beth will remain in my heart forever.

There are no words to express how much I loved this book. It's pure Dylan Allen at her very best.

I was instantly hooked and I already knew I was absolutely in love with Beth and Carter.

This book was full love, angst, beauty and turmoil. It was completely compulsive and absolutely unputdownable.

I dont want to give away much of the story to not spoil your enjoyment when you read it.

The sound of Temptation is yet again another beautifully written story that has captured and tore my heart out at the same time.

Beth and Carter's love was so eminence. Beth is so bad ass and I adored her with every bone in my body. Carter was her ying to her yang and you couldn't not love him.

It was a compulsive read, totally addictive and so passionate. Carter and Beth are everything, and their story will forever stay in my heart.

I am a massive fan of Dylan Allen and adore her books. This is a wonderful story that is definitely a must read. Dylan is one of my unicorns and I adore her and her work. If your new to her you will fall in love instantly. She ROCKS.

I give The Sound of Temptation 5 starts.

Happy reading.

4.5 star The Sound Of Temptation by Dylan Allen

Dylan Allen is a relatively new author to me. This was an emotional roller coaster of a read with writing that was strong and I found myself invested in Carter and Beth’s story. This is a second chance at love story that ticked many of the boxes for me. These two have a complciated history and it was entertaining to watch them come to terms with the past and in doing so forge a path to happiness.

There is drama, angst, passion and love; the characters were easy to relate to and I found Beth to be strong, determined and a woman to admire. The Sound of Temptation was at times raw and I was on the edge of my seat at times whilst reading. There were so many secrets and there were times that I was concerned that Carter and Beth might not get the happiness that they deserve.

I fell hard for Carter, he knew he had hurt Beth and was determined to win back her love. It was entertaining to watch the journey that both Carter and Beth travelled, not only the growth of their relationship but how much they grew in themselves.

An emotional charged love story that I don’t want to see end!
These characters are familiar to me from a previous trilogy that had me glued to the pages from beginning to end.
I thought I would not be invested in this story and I’d be skipping through the chapters....Except, the total opposite happened!
I was swept into a haunting, unique, raw read that was heart wrenching and mesmerizing.
I was enthralled by the different perspectives offered of the high highs and low lows of Beth and Carter twisted roller coaster story.
Their story flowed seamlessly as I embarked on the super emotionally charged compelling journey.
Moreover, music played a big part in sending subliminal messages adding intensity and suspense to their fragile love story.
These characters were so complex and complicated.
This new version showed a side of them that made their story more exciting and richer as they struggled to fight the odds stacked against them.
The strength and power of love and how they dealt with family secrets made this story so special!

I feel so incredibly lucky that I got to read an early copy of this book. I cannot begin to express the MAGNIFICENCE packed inside. Dylan Allen has done something so incredibly special with The Sound Of Temptation!

It's a second chance Romance that will have you UP IN YOUR FEELS.. And the heat, the passion, WOAH MAMA, Dylan sure knows how to write a steamy love scene!

It's so easy to see how Dylan left her heart and soul in between the pages of The Sound of Temptation and she easily grasped my whole heart and attached it to this story.

Dylan, your writing is sublime, your story telling exquisite. This is my favourite story of yours yet!

Beth and Carter’s story is one that comes with many twists and heartbreaking turns but shows us that love, true love always finds a way!

This beautiful “big” book is the journey of two people who have experienced the bitter pain that power, money and Jealousy can throw at you! Through their lives Beth and Carter have been failed by those who should “love” them but it was their love that saved them!

Dylan crafted a story that will transcend time and will stay with you long after the last page is read! Beth is strong beautiful woman who has battled her demons and come out on top! Carter is such a beautiful broody soul who pours his heart out in his music and fights for a way back to his heart!

Loved this beautiful story and so happy to have a Dylan Allen book in my hands again! Love her writing and the amazing stories she has to tell!

This book is a mess. I think the 5 star reviews read the trilogy version. The editing is atrocious, and so much of it doesn’t make sense. The main character’s name changes inexplicably, there are random unexplained characters, and I don’t understand some of the context - I think it was in the trilogy but was cut out here. Random periods, quotation marks, split words, etc. Ugh I am so mad I wasted all that time.
