Love doesn’t live here, but no lie, Sunny wishes it did. In her eyes, love is the beautiful rise of each day and the seduction of the night. Unfortunately, Sunny has had her heart broken one too many times to believe she’ll find her life-changing, soul-shaking romance. Outgoing, with a sweet disposition, don’t get her misunderstood. She’s got a backbone and enough self-awareness to know finding herself takes precedence over who finds her. When she meets Wisdom, however, love is back on the brain and gunning for her heart. Wisdom doesn’t believe in love. Luckily, he had never fallen. A boss in the streets, he’s known as the Plug, and his only loyalty is to the Crip set he claims. As a man of few words, Wisdom is no-nonsense and never afraid to take action. Still, a drunken night ends with him giving a ray of sunshine a ride home and sparking a connection that has him reconsidering his stance on love and deciding to do anything to keep Sunny’s heart intact. When lines are crossed and boundaries blurred, are Wisdom and Sunny prepared to weather the storms? Or will love prove once and for all doubting hearts are made to be broken?
sunny and wisdom’s love story was a beautiful ride. the way they broke through each other’s barriers and learned to love each other was so comforting to read.
this book started strong but kind of lost me halfway through. a lottttttt of stuff happened and sometimes it felt like sunny and wise got lost in the shuffle.
Wow. Wisdom and his Sun🔥🔥🔥. I’m so glad these two decided to give each other a chance👏🏽👏🏽💃🏽💃🏽😜. We start out with trifling Tristan🙄🙄 the abusive, disgusting and deadly husband and his side chick Riley🙄🙄🙄. So glad Sun decided to move on from this trifling man and his abusive tendencies. Sun moves back home and sees Wisdom, she’s off limits, they talk, he enjoys her company and it starts on a beautiful, eventful, dramatic journey from there. Love all the friends. Queenie🤦🏽♀️, this woman😔, to hate your son and to tell him, constantly abuse him verbally..just too much😤. I must say that I felt sorry for Riley at the end. Tristan got what he deserved for the way he totally disregarded anyone but himself. Animal🙄😤. Solana and Tarzan need to get themselves together. Sonny was an awesome father.💃🏽💃🏽He didn’t play about SJ and we saw it when him and Sage went to get her and bring her home🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♀️🤣🤣. In all, I really enjoyed this book. Another great read by this author. Thank you Ms. Irving. Carry on💃🏽💃🏽🥳🎉🎊
I legit stayed up and did not go to bed until I finished this book! It was just SO GOOD!!!! Now it started out like Season 2 of Basketball Wives.😂 As bad as my heart ached for Sunny, the description of tire marks on his top had me weak!🤣 I like books that pull me in from page 1 and this was definitely one of them! I loved Wisdom and Sunny's chemistry. And it wasn't even so much physical (although that was 🔥!), it was a soul deep connection that these 2 have. In a world of chaos, Sunny is Wisdom's peace and Wisdom is Sunny's anchor. Their progression wasn't perfect, but that's what made it beautiful. I also loved the family support surrounding them! Solana and Tarzan and Truth were my faves! Can I say, I also like that Ms. Irving's stories tend to show the opposite of what we typically see in that it's usually the mothers who are trash parents and the dads who are holding it down. I like to see Black dads making it happen. Lastly, let me say, you had me slack jawed and mind blown at the end of Tristan's story. It had me going back to think of everything he said and did from the beginning. I thought he was just fame drunk and a narcissist. But whoa😳, I think he was a sociopath. That part was the only point that I felt bad for ole girl. Also, it was great to see glimpses of fave characters from previous stories. I really, REALLY enjoyed this book! Do yourself a favor and get into it!
This story was all that and more. I was pulled in from the first page, stayed up late reading, and didn’t want to stop until I was done. Wisdom is BAE!
Let me just say… with this being my first read from this author I was completely knocked off my feet!!! 20% I was read to climb through my kindle like Tristan owed ME something!! 🤬🤬 Sunny was a real one and Wisdom… whew!! Dive into Write Your Name and get ready for a great story!!
Wisdom and Sunny share early lives filled with a common factor of missing a moms' love. Wisdom doesn't want love, while Sunny wants it more than anything. One-click and follow Wisdom and Sunny on their journey. Find out if Sunny and Wisdom write their names on each other hearts. Does Wisdom allow Sunny to be his light on dark days? Read and enjoy....You will not be disappointed!
This is my first read from this author and what can I say I'm hooked. The love that sun and wise had for eachother melted of the page and went straight to my soul. I love the connection I felt from these two broken souls that healed eachother while finding out what real love is. I hope that True gets a story and lana and Tarzan I want to see what the future holds for them.
Oh my! I am all in my feelings about this amazing read! Miss Sunny was just as her name implies. Full of life, happy and spreading joy to all those around her. That cancer of a husband she had, made you want to hop onto the pages and let him catch your hands! Ughh……. Glad she got the courage to get gone! Going back home to her roots was not only therapeutic for Sunny, but she blossomed there! Wisdom! Tortured soul, intense, complicated but brilliant man! My heart just ached for him after all that he had gone through in his life, and dealing with that trash of a mother of his! Sunny and Wisdom reconnecting and building a friendship was odd, as Wise didn't make time for anyone outside of his family. But, being around Sunny made him begin feel, and smile, and be happy as the ice around his heart began to melt! Everyone around him took notice, and knew that he and Sunny were something special. This story was written so beautifully, I could feel the joy, pain, sadness, anguish, anger and love of these characters. Hope that we can get stories on the supporting cast as well. Loved it! 👍👍👍
Sunny and Wisdom are two broken souls that are forbidden to venture in to their feelings for one another. But the heart wants what the heart wants. A failed marriage and a troubled past are doing everything in their will power to keep them from living their happily ever after. But the universe has a funny way of getting exactly what it wants. I enjoyed this book so much. It's long and good. It held my attention from the beginning to the end. I can't wait to read more by this author.
Lord, Courtney Irving brought the drama! Wisdom has no interest in anything or anyone outside of his family, until Sunny comes back to town. I felt bad for all the things that Sunny had to endure with her ex but with Wisdom she was able to let loose and walk into her true life. I loved this forbidden love story. I thought the author did a great job capturing the relationship from beginning to the beginning of forever. All of the hardships and drama that both, Sunny and Wisdom, had to endure made their love that much stronger. That bond was unbreakable. I so enjoyed what this story had to offer. And If I ever see Queenie in person, it’s on sight. 🤣🤣🤣good work!
This was not what I was expecting at all...and I’m glad it wasn’t....Courtney did a great job with this story line...I like Sunny, I appreciate the relationship she has with her family, specifically her dad (I’m a daddy’s girl) Tristian was a piece of sugar honey ice tea and he got what he deserved....Wisdom...I have no words for this book Bae....just click buy and be happy! He was delicious!
Wisdom and Sunny are childhood acquaintances who always had a secret thing for each other. But Wisdom's lifestyle and his respect for her father always made him keep his distance. But now she's back home after her marriage fell apart, and he can't seem to resist her. But can he learn to show and trust his emotions?
Okay, let me start by saying that if you pluck out the piece of this that's JUST Wisdom and Sunny's love story, it's absolutely perfect. The struggle to express unexpected emotions, the learning to deal with each other's baggage, their undeniable attraction, the peace and safety they find with one another, plus they're hot as hell. I mean SUPER hot. That... was perfect. I also loved both of their family dynamics, blood and found. I love the loyalty and connection, the way they held each other up and down. And the not so happy parts they found a way through.
I will say that the side characters had too much room. They had too much say in this story. And that was a problem for me storytelling wise, because it distracted from Wisdom and Sunny. And it was a problem for me stylistically, because none of their extras actually pushed the story forward, in any significant way. The husband and the mistress, the fake wife, all of it was superfluous (for me). The author already gave Wisdom and Sunny so much internal angst to work through, having an outside conflict every other chapter just felt like so much I didn't need. It started to give soap opera in book form and that's not my thing, personally.
I will probably try something else by this author though.
What a ride on this wonderful love fest. The writer weaves a story not captures you from go but it engages you. When you get two characters so deserving of love and know they've found it,this makes for one fantastic story! We are getting fleshed out characters that you can relate to but probably know and the dialogue is just so.so good. The story moves like a winding road ,where you hit the gas and slow it down to take the curves and see what's up ahead. That's life and relationships and the writer gives us a sweet look at ,and realistic look that sometimes bad things happen but if you stay in it for the win then its all good. This is not only.one for.your bookshelf but this is one for the book club. Now I feel just a little cheated because I think we should get glimpse into the world.of Tarzan and Solana.Hopefully its in the making or on the thinking drawing broad.
I struggle to rate this book but I settled on 4 stars. My love of the characters outweighed all of my red flags with this book. The writing errors weren’t minor & it felt like reading a draft. Also a lot of inconsistencies and things that didn’t make sense, like the degrees. I guess everybody in this universe gets both their bachelor and masters degrees at the same time and in 2 years. The timelines were off. Despite all that I still gave it 4 stars, because I’m a sucker for a MMC from LA 🤷🏽♀️
This is my favorite book by you written so far. Sunny has been through so much with her ex husband cheating on her. She felt that she was unlovable. Wisdom came through and has proven that she is so lovable. Sunny taught Wisdom to believe in love. I love them together so much. Can't wait to read your next book hopefully it is Tarzan and Solana hint hint.😊😊
This book was beautifully written. The storyline was extremely captivating. It had the perfect balance between drama and suspense. Not to mention the jaw dropping moments that left me stunned. Sunny's actions certainly showed she wasn't the one to be played with. The dynamic and personalities of the characters made this book everything. Overall a great read
I really enjoyed this book. Didn’t want it to end. I love the character development of Wise and I just love the dynamic between Sunny & Wise. Great job.
This was such a great story. I love how it started with a bang. Sunny was really about that life. I’m so glad that she got rid of Tristen early on, so we could concentrate on Wisdom. Sunny and Wisdom were perfect together. I’m so glad Sunny never gave up and stuck around. Karma came around and smacked Tristen and Riley in the face and I was cheering it on.
Whew, Chile! This had enough drama, suspense, and love to be a great read! I loved the character growth, especially Wisdom! His Nafisa surprise did make me roll my eyes, but all was revealed and he fixed the situation! I laughed, cried, cheered, and rolled my eyes as I took the whole day to read! One of the best I've read so far this year!
Man this was good! Love Wisdom he was a true alpha man! Love the father daughter relationship between Sunny and her father! Tristan made me sick uugh😣 we need a story on Tarzan and Lay please!! Keep em coming Courtney!!
I really enjoyed this book. Wise and Sunny are perfect for each other. Hopefully Soul and Tarzan get a story. Can't wait until next month when you drop a new book lol.
I liked this book but the time lines kept throwing me off. Sometimes it seemed as if weeks and months had passed, but I would read further and it would only be a few days or one week at the most. This happened throughout the entire book. Tristan, Nafisa, and Amara needed therapy. Their lives were a mess. Loved Wise and Sun. Their relationship was genuine and real. Sunny wasn’t playing with him and he made sure he could keep her.
Sunny Hill is recovering from a broken heart. She has moved back home to Los Angeles after her husband Tristian has betrayed her for the last time. She is determined to get her business off the ground and focus on her happiness. Love doesn’t live here anymore, was her new motto.
Wisdom Price is a BOSS, better yet he is THE BOSS literally he’s The Plug 🔌 . Never the one to believe in love, the only thing he remains true to is his family and the crip set he claims. A man of few words, Wisdom isn’t moved by much. That is until one drunken night ends with him giving Sunny a ride back to her crib and an undeniable connection is sparked.
This story was packed with so many twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Not only was a story packed with a lot of drama, the love story between Wisdom and Sunny was so beautiful!! I dont know what it is about a man that doesn’t believe in love, has never been loved, that’s willing to go above and beyond, and learn how to love for the one girl that steals his heart, that gets me EVERY DAMN TIME!!! Come love me baby 😂.
I’m going have to add Wisdom to my top book Bea list. He just claimed the 6th spot! They way that man was coming after Sunny! It’s the energy for me 🫰🏾🫰🏾.
Sunny is my type of FMC, my girl is a go getter, smart, loyal and ready to ride for the ones she love.
Some of my favorite parts of this book are;
1. Sonny showing up and beating ass behind his baby! 2. Wisdom pulling a drunk Sunny out the club 3. Their first date at auntie Justine’s house 4. Wisdom talking to Sonny and Sage about his relationship with Sunny. 5. Sunny checking Wisdom trash ass momma (I only wish she would have beat her ass as well 😂) 6. Of course that ending 🥰🥰
There was also a valuable lesson that was learned in this book, NOBODY LEAVE THIS EARTH WITHOUT GETTING WHAT THEY HAVE COMING TO THEM!! Riley thought shit was cute when she was bragging to Sunny’s face and being messy, but she learned quick. And Tristan got what he had coming to his trifling ass as well!
Oh and Courtney’s writing is so engulfing she really paints a clear distinctive picture. I felt like I was in the book, I could see everything so clear! Can’t wait to read Truth story!
I loved Write Your Name! The Mr. Grumpy Ms. Sunshine has always been a trope I loved!! The chemistry between Wisdom and Sunny was hot!! I loved how Sunny was firm in her boundaries and Wisdom not only respected them but put up what she was putting down!
