This is the second book in the Downton Cowboys Series and is Belle and Jake's story. Jake is one of the Downton brothers and he is a dark place. He had his heart shattered and feels there's no hope for happiness again. All that changes when he falls off his horse and looks up into Belle's beautiful eyes. He is smitten and they have great chemistry until the past comes back to haunt him. Belle was turned off by her father's deception and secrets of his hidden by Jake. Does she give him a second chance? Are they able to find forever love. This was a great book that was a easy read and hard to put down. Loved Belle and Jake together. The Tangles of Family: The Joy of Love
For the Downton brothers, it could certainly be said that while an individual can choose his friends, he can’t choose his family. Jake Downton, a 30-year-old dark-haired, turquoise-eyed, handsome cowboy, and landowner, is a man who could certainly attest to the truth of that assertion. City boys by birth, but never by nature, the Downton brothers, grew up with an abusive father and a battered mother. Jake and his three brothers learned how to read their father’s moods as a survival skill. With the example and financial support of older brother Danny, Jake and his younger siblings are given a second chance, becoming men of honor and wealth, under the tutelage of Danny.
But money and position don’t always serve to protect and individual against the challenges of life. Jake, deprived of love at a young age wanted a family. But without a strong example of a loving home and parents, he fell easily into the trap of a treacherous woman who deceived him with her lies and her desire for money. So, when he later meets the beautiful Belle Frances with her ocean blue eyes and long raven hair, he is drawn to her beauty and gentleness, but wary of the possible treachery he had experienced with his deceiving first love. Now, as Jake courts and wins the hand of Belle, he comes to see that when taking a wife, one takes a family and the trials and dishonor of that family follow all of its members.
Miley Maine delivers a different romantic tale which tangles threads of past treachery find their way into the present. The tale offers an engaging story, with passionate moments. However, the growing love of Jake and Belle is too long threatened with unsettling and potentially hurtful family influences. The author offers the reader a story that doesn’t fully provide a logical resolution of the characters’ past and present as family tensions continue to exist as the story closes.

Miley Maine has written a 5-star book that will keep you on the edge of your seat just to see what happens next. Belle and Jake meet when he is thrown from his horse when it sees a snake. Belle finds him knocked out and she stays with him until he wakes up. There is an attraction between them and Jake wants to get to know Belle more. When he tries to stand up, he feels dizzy and Belle tells him that she will ride with him until he gets back to his house. Once at Jake's house, he invites her in for a drink and to cool off. Things between them get a little heated and Belle tells him that she has to go home. But she tells him that she will check on him the next day. When Belle gets to Jake's the next morning, she is met at the door by a woman. She now feels like a fool. Jake had not said anything about a girlfriend or a wife. She turns around and fast walks to Lady, her horse and before Jake can get to her, she is leaving. He calls out for her to wait so that he can explain, but she keeps riding away. The woman that Belle saw was Katie, Jake's housekeeper. Katie asks "was that Belle Franks?" Jake asks her "Do you know where she lives?" Katie tells him where Belle lives and a few days later, Jake shows up at her house with flowers and candy. He explains about the misunderstanding with Katie. He invites her over for dinner that night and she agrees to go. Things heat up and after dinner, they end up in bed together. Jake asks her to stay the night, but she said that she couldn't. They end up as a couple and Jake has a secret that he is withholding from Bella. On the day she is told about the secret, it's her wedding day. She is brokenhearted over this news. Her mother is hurt over the news also because it involves Belle's father.
Can Jake ever get Belle to forgive him and to give him a second chance?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and who to like and dislike, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!

(Believe me when I say you won’t put it down until the last page is read…you will find yourself getting upset cause someone called, texted or bothered you while reading this one, you will find yourself up at ungodly hours just to finish it knowing you have work early the very next day) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Jake is this sexy as all get out but broken and haunted by ghost from his past cowboy. He has so much ice around his heart and so many fences to hold all his emotions in it will take someone very special to mend the fences and thaw the ice so his heart can beat again. The snake is the grass is not the only one to watch out for
Jake is the second book in the Downton Cowboys series and is the story of Belle Franks and Jake Downton. They meet when Jake is out riding and is thrown from his horse when it sees a snake and reacts. He is knocked unconscious and it is Belle who happens upon him while she is out riding. She stays with him until he wakes up and then rides with him back to his house to make sure he is okay. When they get there Jake invites the young woman that he is very attracted to inside to have a cool drink. That drink is the only thing that is cool between these two as they are hotter than a tin roof at mid-day. Belle leaves before they can get too carried away but promises to come back the next day to check on Jake. Belle does come the next day but when the door is opened by a woman Belle hops back on her horse and takes off, thinking that Jake has a wife or girlfriend which he did not tell her about. The woman is neither of those things and it is going to be up to Jake to catch up to her and straighten out the misunderstanding. It is lucky that the woman was his housekeeper and she knows who Belle is and just where she lives. Even though Jake does explain things and he and Belle end up as a couple there are still a few more bumps, well really one large sink hole, in the road to their HEA. Lets just say that when Jake's secret comes out he is going to have to grovel a whole lot.
This is a sweet and smexy story with romance and some drama. I did like this book and it is an entertaining story.

Jake by Miley Maine is an intriguing,heartwarming,interesting and steamy romance story of Jake and Belle..Jake a ranch owner a broken man and grew up with an abusive father when his brother left home and fid a job to a ranch owner who treat him like a son and when he passed away he gave it all to his brother and his brother bought this rach for him not only him but the rest of their siblings so when he met Belle he knows that his in trouble coming out with a bad marriage cheating on him with their employee and the son that he thought that his is blown to his face..but something about Belle, draws him towards her. Like a moth to a flame.she think that she can help him mend his broken heart and jake want her to be his but when his secret came out specially when she found out about his marital status and to top of that whe she found out that his ex is her half sister the very own secret of his father..Can love survive against all odds? Oh wow, what a series, just loving it. It was good to read about Danny and Gigi in book one and now we have Jake and Belle. Can a woman take your breath away once you open your eyes. Well that’s what happens to Jake after he fell from his horse. Jake can’t believe this woman takes his breath away, makes him feel good and hope for the future. Belle is loving, caring and just smitten with Jake too. All seems good but Jake has a secret which could tear them apart. They are so good together but then as if Jake’s secret isn’t bad enough, more secrets will be revealed by another that will shock you to your roots.
I literally had to speed read to find out what happens next. Loved it all, a great story. Can’t wait to read about Frankie next

*spoilers* Jake meets Belle when he is thrown from his horse, which is afraid because of a snake. He runs a ranch, which he got all from his oldest brother. He has three brothers, but he is the closest with his youngest, it is hard for him cause he had an abusive childhood. In the beginning we get glimpses how much it branded him, made him reluctant to commit to a relationship, because he can not handle another heartbreak, but Belle makes him happy, which his men on the ranch notice, making him think about his behavior, and he knows in his heart she is different. Things get complicated and the past and secrets hunt Jake and his love Belle. This story was written in such a mellowed way, the characters took me with them and it sucked me in.

Jake and Belle’s story starts slow and sweet, building up the steam as their love for one another becomes obviously apparent.
The plot of this book engages the heart and emotions, especially when Jake’s secret explodes and implodes.
Overall, this author does not disappoint with a heartfelt resolution, blossoming love and a growing family HEA.

When Jake is thrown from his horse he opens his eyes to see the most beautiful blue eyes. When Belle finds a handsome cowboy laying on the ground unconscious she does the only thing she can think of and pours water over his head. He invites her to ride back to the house to make sure he is alright. And because he wants to spend some time with her. When he asks her to marry her he does not tell her all about the bad the things from his past. When his past comes back and bites him in the backside she leaves him at the alter. Jake will do anything to get Belle back even if it means opening old wounds. This is a wonderful story. I could not put it down. Look forward to reading more from this author.

I'm loving this series, this book is about Jake and Belle, he's a sexy but broken cowboy who is haunted by something in his past cowboy. He's walled off his heart and his emotions and he's not looking to let anyone in. That is until he falls from his horse injuring himself and Belle's the first person he sees when he opens his eyes, he thinks she's the most beautiful women he's ever seen. She insists on helping him. She's so open, gentle and loving and the more time they spend together the more the pieces of his heart begin to mend.
Jake realizes that he wants a future with Belle but ends up hurting her, will he be able to win her back by revealing his dark secret? Can Belle forgive him? Will there be a HEA in their shared future?

Belle and Jake meet when she finds him on the ground after being thrown by his horse. Sparks fly instantly but right away there is miscommunication as she comes over the next day to check on him and a woman answers the door - his housekeeper. Not telling whole truths or omitting things is a common problem here and even her father owns up to it the day of her wedding. The characters are strong from all they have gone through in their lives. The backstories and storyline were terrific and you could feel the pain and turmoil. Love the way Jake kept coming back to set things right, time and time again. Can not wait to see what happens for his younger brother, Frankie. Very well done.

Jake is a broken man. Putting all his time and energy into his ranch and his brothers. Then one day his horse throws him and he gets knocked out. Opening his eyes he looked into the face of an angel or so he thought. Belle enjoys riding her horse through pastures and fields and tries not to get caught trespassing. When she see a cowboy laying on the ground unconscious, her only thought was to help. Loved the chemistry between these two characters. Instant attraction and a lot and lots of secrets. Great story.

Belle and Jake meet when his horse sees a snake and throws him off. She finds him and stays with him until he wakes up. There is a misunderstanding of his marital status and she pulls back. After he gets the situation straightened out, and the barriers are then broken down it looks like there is a clear path to happiness for them. Will it last? Is there really a happy ending in the offing for them? Great characters and story brought to life by this talented author.

This is book 2 of Maine's series Downtown Cowboys. This is is Belle and Jake's story. A well written romance that will captivate. Jake is thrown from his horse and opens his eyes to find Belle. He's completely smitten and the chemistry between these two is sizzling. But there are secrets that could destroy their budding relationship. Shocking revelations that will have you reading thru the day and night. An overall wonderful read - can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading book 1 - just because these books are so good!

This is book two in the Downton Cowboys series and Jake and Belle’s story. I couldn’t put this book down. I was riveted from the first page until the last. From the moment Jake and Belle meet there’s an immediate attraction. I fell in love with both Jake and Belle and was cheering for their happily ever after. Such a wonderful story and one I enjoyed immensely. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Rattlesnake Love
Miley Maine’s second book in her ‘Downton Cowboys’ series is really riding the range with her cast of cowboy characters. There’s horses, fields, adventure, romance and wide open spaces. Jake and Belle, the main characters, seem to fit together. Jake was thrown off his horse when it was spooked by a snake. When he comes to, that’s when he meets Belle. Jake unfortunately has a lot of secrets and demons in his past that he must contend with. A lovely read. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!

This book brings us Jake and Belle. Jake owns a ranch, and one day as she was trespassing on his property, Belle finds Jake unconscious. Upon waking up, Jake looks into her eyes and thinks he sees an angel. Jake has not had a very good upbringing and has a hard time trusting people. He really never anticipated falling in love again, but the more time that he and Belle spend together, he realizes that she is just who he needs. The major twist in the book was quite shocking - no detail here! This was a good read and I do recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

Jake is out riding his horse when it is spooked by a snake and he takes a hard fall. He hits his head on a rock and looses consciousness. He is awakened by a beautiful girl splashing water on his face, Belle. The two start dating. Will it be a forever love? Will they get married or will some ugly secrets tear them apart? Thank you Miley Maine for book 2 of the Downton brothers. It is a great book and I cannot wait to read book three, Frankie's story.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the storyline. I enjoyed hearing about Jakes childhood, even thou that was quite sad. Thou he has made a great life for himself now. Belle was such a sweet character, but didn't take any rubbish from Jake, thou she was very forgiving. I understood her reasons thou. I loved the twist in this book, made it more dramatic. Great book, well written. Cant wait to read more from this series. Recommend

To much drama and emotional rollercoaster really for nothing.
It threw me off when Belle come first to his place,saw his housekeeper and left thinking this is Jake’s girl.
Why he didn’t go after her? It’s not that she run that fast he couldn’t catch her…he just go for breakfast?

This is a sweet story. Jake looks up into the bluest eyes after he falls off his horse after seeing a snake. Belle is instantly attracted to Jake and he feels the same but he has lots of secrets. I was not enthusiastic about these characters. Jake was a spineless and weak coward as long with his father-in-law and Belle was weak. Keep reading and you will understand my reasoning when you get to the last quarter of the book. Actually it took a lot for me to make it that far because for e the story was boring. I’ve read other series and books of Milly’s that I enjoyed much better than this series. Until next time y’all happy reading.

An entertaining book two in the Downton Cowboys series! It is well written, engaging, steamy, funny, emotionally deep, and well developed with dram and ups and downs. The characters are well written, and you will root for them; the chemistry between them is instant and off the charts. Definitely recommended!

This is another great Downtown cowboy romance with strong characters in Jake and Belle. The author once again does a terrific job building their story and painting her scenes. She gives them a strong chemistry and instant attraction. But he's keeping secrets that will need to come out and be worked through. It's well written,moves fluidly and is a great read.

An emotion-fraught love story for Jake and Belle!! Lots of twists and turns to circumnavigate on their way to a HEA! Do they ever get there or will Jake allow his past experience to continue to dictate his life and cause him to miss out on the one woman who could possibly be his salvation? This is such a great series! Love it!!

Great story.
Really liked Jake & Bella's will they won't they love story. There was instant attraction from the start but a misunderstanding almost stopped it but it started & secrets that could tear them apart. This us a great story with wonderful characters & I can't wait to read the next brother's story.
