Winter break is upon Mystic Caravan, which is supposed to mean a full month of rest and relaxation. Upon arriving at their destination, however, Poet and company find that murder isn’t far behind.
Their off-season park is full of paranormals – something that normally makes Poet comfortable – but the death of a local girl points to one of their own being the culprit. Even though she’s supposed to be taking it easy, Poet can’t stop herself from digging … and it leads her on a wild ride.
Florida is hot, humid and bursting at the seams with supernatural friends. Unfortunately for Poet, it’s also home to an ex-boyfriend who can’t quite let go. Since he’s a police officer … and looking at Mystic Caravan’s cadre of weirdos as potential murder suspects … that only makes things all the more difficult.
It’s up to Poet to find the real culprit even as a shadowy and powerful figure stalks her. Kade’s magic is growing but he’s still learning, which makes for some hard battles. On top of that, he’s keeping a secret with Luke, which has Poet teetering on the edge of sanity.
It’s supposed to be a break, not a break from reality, but Poet is ready to fight for her future. It’s going to take everybody working together to figure out the truth … and give Poet the one thing she’s always wanted above all else.
Peace.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Ho-hum

I'm slightly disappoined in this book. I love this series so much and could not wait for this book to come out, so I find myself hard to write something bad....but. It was boring. There is no action, no Nellie cutting off a monster head or Poet wiping a memory or the Pixies shrinking people. Not even a decent monster or villain for that matter.I had no interest in the victim, or villain...just blah. please go back on the road and give us some old fashioned monster mysteries!!

This was another great book by Amanda M Lee. This time Poet and the gang are home for a little vacation before going back on the road. But their vacation turns bad when a murder happens in their parks vicinity. Will they be able to find out what is behind the park and why the police think they are the guilty party or will one of more of them end up in jail?

Not my favorite, I wanted more fighting the bad guy and less where is our future going from poet and Kade. I enjoyed the tailor park and the people living there. I felt like there could have been so much more. Would love to read some books about the side characters past.

This was not the typical mystery that you see in this series. The group did not really use their powers, Poet’s attitude toward her ex was odd. The villain and the victim were not interesting characters at all. Comments are made early on by Cole about his ideas for the circus. That storyline is not really mentioned again until the end, and then becomes a done deal. It just felt disjointed. Hopefully the next book will have the gang back in action!

Different & not in the best way

Unfortunately it was a bit weak as stories go. The perpetrator was obvious almost immediately. Once I got to the end, I realized this story was just a vehicle to transition into a alternate future. One with limitations and the loss of the core components that make Mystic Circus what it is. If it goes in that direction & stays, I’m not going to continue reading this series, no matter how much I like the destination-I refuse to give out spoilers.

Decent story

I found this story fun. By the end, it showed that maybe the Circus isn’t getting away with as much as they initially thought they were when it came to police and federal overwatch. But since they were classified as the ‘good guys’, they have been left alone.

I did like that they had someone living in their area and she was a blackmailer. Initially it was thought that she was using mind magic to get information during sex, then later it was stated Sassy wasn’t a paranormal. If she wasn’t then how did she get her info? It was said that in most instances the blackmailed victims didn’t have pillow talk with her, so unless she did have mind magic, how was she getting her info? You could have made Sassy a succubus, which could have given her a very minor mind magic, but only accessible during sex. Then she not only could feed this way, but also was getting her blackmail info.

I thought making Fiona the ultimate villain wasn’t very inspired. It seemed rather obvious early on she was the bad guy. She was always close by, and even lived next door to Sassy, but never was considered a suspect initially? How would she have missed a horrible violent and likely loud, death happening just outside her house?

I am not sure why Phillip was added to the mix, unless it was just to give another twist in the story. He seemed rather superfluous to the story. I got the feeling that they only introduced him and allowed his getaway so they could bring him back in another novel. Possibly as a way to center a story more around Nadia and Nixie.

Also as they have brought up multiple times about wanting to rid themselves of Mark, the midway manager, they could easily have made him a bad guy if only as an unwitting supplier of information to Sassy, This could have easily created a situation where he could be fired or removed and allow Cole to take over the area. It would have also given Cole more reason to want to help the Circus change and grow in the future, without Luke being his only reason for wanting these changes.

I also thought it odd that Cole was the person suggesting the new venue possibility to Max and Poet. I could have sworn in an earlier book, Kade mentioned ideas for a change in the circus which would allow them new options and possibly a permanent spot to work from. It think it would have been more interesting to to have Cole and Kade work together to come up with an idea, and then present it to Max and Poet. Moonstone Bay is an interesting choice for a permanent spot, though Hemlock Cove might have been possible too, considering they have weekly festivals in their area, and it wouldn’t take much for the circus to redesign themselves into a supernaturally themed circus event and become a permanent attraction for that area just as easily. Hemlock Cove might even be an better choice, as Moonstone Bay is more a vacation spot, not a festival location as much.

It was still a fun story, but I hope the villains will be a bit more inspired and less identifiable in future volumes. Also with all the various supernatural races in this book’s universe, I would like to see a bigger variety of good and bad guys.

Annual leave but there's still work to be done..

As the mystic caravan crew arrive in Florida for their month of downtime it seems that things are not at free and relaxing as they should be. With her regular family team all living on the same trailer park it's really hard to take a total break.

The BBQ welcome party introduces old friends they've not seen for a year like Deb, Ian, Frank, Fiona and Liam along with few new faces like Sassy who's definitely looking at Kade like he's fresh meat she's ready to eat. Poet is not amused with Sassy's challenging approach and is wary around the woman. But when Poet runs into her old flame Kevin, a policeman who seems slightly off kilter around her, it turns out that Sassy has been murdered and pretty much Kevin thinks it is one of them.

Sassy's body has been displayed in a tableau with definite serial killer vibes, so it's secretly back to work for Poet and Luke who can't let a mystery go unsolved even as Kade and Cole head off to play golf.

With Kade and Cole angry that the pair snuck off to hunt for clues it's not long before the usual crew are all on the case. Raven, Nelly, Nixie and Naida, join the two couples, and all will need to play their parts to bring the truth out and lock away the killer once and for all because this time they can't hide it and mystic circuses traditional justice is not an option.

Will they survive unscathed? Even with Nelly and his nemesis, Frank, on the warpath and threatening to kill each other? Can Poet resolve her feelings about Kevin? Will Kade manage to ask the most important question of his life?

Brilliant as ever.. I am hoping that we have a whole world of adventures to come before Cade's grand idea gets put into play.. I'm just not ready to say goodbye to Poet and her crew.

The circus heads to their sort-of permanent home in Florida for the off-season and then a resident of their park is killed and Poet's ex is in charge of the investigation and seems to have a grudge.

What I enjoyed:
* I liked seeing them slow down a bit and have something close to a normal life
* Nellie and Frank's rivalry was fun
* the end
*

What could have been better:
* the villain
* Poet's attitude about her ex didn't make sense at all

This chapter in the story was a change of pace from being on the road but it followed the same premise as usual and honestly I am a little annoyed because for once I thought the author might change it up since they were on a break and do something a little different but alas I was greatly disappointed.

Also I knew who the killer was almost immediately and the author dragged it out until the 2nd to last chapter, there was alot of investigation going on so it wasn't too bad but hardly any action and the real main event was totally eclipsed by this usual solving of a crime. I feel like somebody needs to let the author know that every story doesn't have to follow the same M.O. give us something different to keep it exciting.

I digress, overall the story was written well but the proofreading could have been better and we found out some more of Poet's past and the story was left on a cliffhanger to what I hope will be an eye-opening book regarding Poet's past. I really wanted to give this rating a 3.5 but opted for a 4 because I do like the characters and the overall story arc.

A really really fun series!

I have REALLY enjoyed this series, and eagerly look forward to each new installment. The plots are original, the characters are entertaining and believable--if sometimes a little over the top--and they interact well and are believable. One of the things that I enjoy most is that the series, while starting out with highly unusual characters, has continued with good, solid, stories about those characters--who, incidentally, remain true to their personalities throughout the series--do not get overblown with weirdness. I really dislike when a series, after a few books, seems to veer off into as unusual and weird and "exciting" as the author can make it. I much prefer the characters to continue doing what they do so well and so entertainingly, without becoming totally unbelievable. I know when I pick up one of these books that it will be fun to read, and will be believable within the bounds of its genre.

Surprise, surprise!

A good story, all the usual suspects, and a couple of interesting twists make this newest mystic Caravan adventure a delight to read!
The vacation they've all been looking forward to is off to a rocky start when a murdered woman's body is discovered in their trailer park, too close for comfort.
Poet isn't capable of keeping out of the investigation, in case her people might be a target of a killer.
Magic and a little mayhem ensue; ( a certain cross dressing dwarf), Poets old flame, and an extremely handsome new guy, who may or may not be a bad guy.
Luke insists that no one that pretty could be a bad guy, but you'll have to read it and find out for yourself.
There are also a couple of interesting developments in the wind for both Poet and the circus. I am looking forward to seeing these develope!

Good story

I think I detected a bit of personal growth in Poet in this book, which was refreshing because as much as I like these stories, sometimes she gets on my nerves. The gang at the Mystic Caravan are on vacation in Florida when a grisly murder occurs in their off season trailer park. Poet wants to investigate and drags the rest of her friends and colleagues in with her. To complicate matters, an old flame with a grudge is the investigating officer. In order to solve the mystery Poet has to learn to get over herself a bit which is phenomenal. The personal growth also seems to help deepen her relationship with Kade and the rest of the gang. All in all a satisfying read.

I love this series!

Sometimes I worry that books in a series will become formulaic, and in some ways they can be: situation, investigation, resolution. In these books that means something special with many twists and turns and much enjoyment.

This is my favourite series in the Amanda M Lee/Lily Harper Hart library but so many of them are battling for that title!

In this book Post and the team are at their rest location - their month off in the year - and someone is killed. The team come under suspicion and they start investigating to clear their names.

Underlying that is the question around what will happen to Post and Kade given that an ex-boyfriend is back on the scene.....

still amazing and fresh

I love that there are multiple characters in the story that are developed. Although poet is the main character and secondary kade, her love interest they’re not always the focus. I love that with each story, we get a little more of each characters history, and with each new character, this world expands.
I would love to see a story about Raven’s history and so curious about Percival the fake British clown who loves chaps. Lol
I also would love the red cap to join the circus. One thing I dislike is the mini recap of how she join the circus someone picks up the book and starts reading it. Let them go back and read the beginning if they want that information. I’m just tired of hearing it in every book.

Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series

This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Poet Parker is the manager of a traveling circus. Most of the time they are there to entertain the public and just do their job every day. On the side they are a traveling band of paranormal‘s who hunt down evil doers of all kinds. Evil Paranormal‘s evil humans etc. They have special skills that help them catch and if necessary dispatch said evil doer‘s. A great group of characters that just messed together perfectly and are kind of like superheroes fighting evil. Very entertaining and worth the read. Check it out

Excellent and Enjoyable Read

I really enjoy the Mystic Caravan series, all the characters are great. The mysteries they face with each new book never have obvious answers and of course they all have a strong paranormal element. They keep you guessing till the very end. Mystic Caravan Circus is on vacation, but of course another mystery has found them. Amanda M Lee has once again written a story that is fun and entertaining and romantic and absolutely wonderful. Poet and Kade are making plans for their future - which of course will include the rest of their friends and family. Can’t wait to see their story continue!

Turning Point

Poet, Kade and the Mystic Circus group are at their "permanent" trailer park in Florida for a month between tours. The first night a newcomer to the walked in protected trailer park is murdered.

The cop assigned is Poet's former boyfriend.

The murder victim is a complicated individual, which makes solving the whodunit much harder.

Lots of other long term changes occur also. Some a natural progression and some unexpected.

As usual, well worth the read and eagerly awaiting the next book.

Fantastic read

I'll be honest, out of all the series Amanda (and Lily) write this one had the least appeal to me. I finally read the first book and it became a favorite. I enjoy the characters, their relationships, and the imagination in the stories. I won't write anything to spoil the upcoming books, but I'm really excited about the direction. Amanda has the ability to make you fall in love with the characters. Yes even the annoying ones. Another great story. Thank you Amanda for creating this world and letting us visit.

Absolutely Incredible Series!

This is one of my absolute favorite series. No matter how many books have been written in this series they are all very interesting and I always find myself having a hard time putting the book down. I love Poet as well as Kade, Luke, Cole and the rest of the characters that belong to Mystic Caravan. The development of the characters in each book progresses and I love being swept up in their world. Would recommend 100% to anyone who loves a good book that they can get lost in!

The Mystic Caravan crew is in Florida for their end-of-season break, and everyone is looking forward to some well-earned R&R.
Poet and Kade along with the rest of Mystic Caravan were barely settled when a fellow resident of the trailer park was found gruesomely murdered.
When the police turn their focus on the Mystic Caravan performers, it is up to Poet and company to solve the murder before one of their own is arrested.
Freaky Gifts is everything I love about Amanda M. Lee's books - fun, smart characters; lightning-fast pacing; and a solidly written, twisty mystery.

Best series EVER!!

Spoiler right up front. . . . . .
Best ending ever! Also I'm glad poet and Cole has gotten close. Now for there engagement! I read on a tablet but I buy this series in paper form that is how much I love these books.
Poet and Raven getting along so good is icing on the cake. I'm glad everyone had a part in this book. I was hoping to find out if Cole was going to get the job of head boss over the midway. Hopefully it will be in the next book?
I recommend this series. I recommend all of Amanda M Lee's books. I've not read a bad one!

Slow to start

Changes for Poet. Enough clues have been dropped so I am fairly certain that Lee isn't ending the series, at least not immediately. I only kept reading for the first half of the book because, like a soap opera,I wanted to see what was going to happen with the characters. Second half of the book took off and I finished it in one sitting. I do enjoy seeing the circus folk interact with the characters from other series, and figure that can only happen if they keep touring. I will keep reading them to keep finding out.

I love Mystic Caravan

Excellent book. The way the book read I was afraid it was the last book of the series. It's not. It's not quite the same as the other Mystic Caravan but has the "creepiness" I enjoy.

A woman is murdered in an awful and unusual way. Plenty of supernaturals and Kade gets his courage up to do what is necessary. Also added is an argument between "White lies" and "real lies".

Congrats for #23 in ALL Kindle books.

This is the ONLY auto-buy series that I do - the stories are just that good. From the fabulous cover art to the adventures the characters experience, the stories are always enjoyable reads for me - even if those adventures sometimes mirror terrible real life things that happen, the camaraderie and love among the Mystic Caravan "family" keeps it in balance. I can't recommend the series highly enough.

One of my favorite authors

This is my favorite book yet! I've read all 12 books and been disappointed when I finished and had to wait for the next one. This author is very good, if you liked this series of books try out all her other series. I'm terrible at giving reviews but felt I had to, after I finished this book, people need to know what an excellent author Amanda M. Lee is!

Another great book in this series. I love how Amanda is incorporating other series into each other I can't wait for the next book. I just love all of her series, Amanda is one of my favorite authors because she never disappoints, her story lines are filled with adventure, fun, intrigue, mystery, and romance. Her characters are full of life and getting to know them has been a great pleasure.

An Emotional, yet Fully Enthralling Read

I have a tendency to get emotionally in or with the characters in this series, and this book was no exception. While I had a few tears leak, there was a conversation towards the end of the book that made me laugh hysterically, and was basically a summary of every weird story out of Florida that has ever been published. As always, an entertaining escape from my reality

One of the better ones.

As always, you should read the series in order. There is a lot of character development going on in the earlier books.
Poet is getting stronger as is her complement.
This time we have blackmail to go with murder, and a couple of new freaky people to contend with.
Oh, and I just saw a video with Amanda Lee, and realized that she OML Ks a lot like an old girlfriend.

Awesome departure

Getting to see the Mystic Caravan folks "at home" during their month off in Florida was a pleasant surprise! Solving the gruesome murder, the ex-boyfriend(!), the usual paranormals plus new characters, and amazing changes and plans for the future all combine for a delightful novel!

This story is a gift

I thought this was one of the best Mystic Caravan stories. I really enjoyed it from beginning to end. It completely held my attention the entire time. I enjoyed seeing the characters in their off season, even though they got wrapped up in a murder investigation. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
