What Narcissists DON’T Want You to Know

Rate this book
Do you need to know how to disarm that narcissist in your life?

If you have a narcissistic partner, parent, child, friend, or coworker, you’ve likely been told that you should leave them behind. But sometimes, that’s not possible or even desirable. There is a way to make your relationship work without having to suffer from narcissistic victim syndrome or end the relationship.

I was married to a narcissist, so I understand how difficult it can be to understand this condition and try to make it work. My experience with a toxic spouse is what prompted me to get a degree in psychology and write books about narcissism and recovering from narcissistic abuse. Now, 99% of the books written about narcissism will advise you to leave, and that’s what I did—but what if you can’t leave?

To deal with any adversary, you first must understand how they think and feel. It’s only in this way that you can turn the narcissistic person into your friend and start building a beneficial relationship. That’s why this book gives real stories from narcissists, their loved ones, and their psychologists to help you tame your beast.

It is designed to help you learn about just what makes a narcissist tick, and with that knowledge, you can take the appropriate steps to protect yourself without suffering from gaslighting or making trauma bonds.

This book will help you learn all about the narcissist in your life, whether you’re dealing with narcissistic parents, a narcissistic partner, a psychopath, or other toxic people. You’ll learn all about this difficult mental condition and why it can work for some people. You’ll also learn how narcissists think and how narcissism develops in the first place. What’s more, this is a unique book in that it includes real narcissists, real victims, and real psychological professionals sharing their opinions. When you have a better understanding of the condition, you can make the best decisions for what works in your life.

You’ll also learn about the following topics:
The causes, symptoms, and traits of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD);
How to identify a narcissist;
How the narcissist thinks;
Common weaknesses of the narcissist;
Whether a narcissist can truly love you;
The different kinds of narcissism, manipulations of toxic people, and much more.

If you want to learn how to live with your loved ones instead of leaving them, this is the book that can help you learn all about surviving a relationship with a narcissist.

The book will help you understand the condition and gain insight into how the narcissist thinks. You’ll become better at understanding a narcissist’s behavior if you know how they think, and you’ll be able to find some compassion for this toxic person that can help improve your interactions with them. You’ll also learn about the narcissist’s manipulative techniques and how to avoid falling prey to them.

There are ways to make it work with a narcissist, and if you’ve got one in your life, start reading this book today to figure out how best to handle your relationship!!

Informative. Gives a basic understanding in narcissistic behavior. I got a few things from it but not much. It relates almost strictly to couples relationships which isn't the information I'm looking for. I honestly am disappointed with the information and found much of it debatable. This is only my opinion. It may work for someone else.

I also found her promoting the second book in the series rather distasteful.

I do think this book was written with good intent, and I do not intend for this to be a personal jab towards the author. I also understand cultural differences may play a part in this as well; however, I completely disagree with the statement: “Believe it or not, living happily with a narcissist is possible, and you can even turn that person into someone who is more loving and easier to deal with.”
Not only does this encourage that we can change someone with NPD, but it can be harmful for the person experiencing the abuse to try doing so.
For anyone trying to learn more information about NPD, healthy relationships, and/or want support with their own relationships, please utilize resources and/or seek support from licensed psychotherapists. I think relationship coaches are great at at exploring how current behaviors can impact the future, but deeper work should really be done by licensed therapists. Licensed clinicians go a bit deeper, looking at past influences (i.e. childhood experiences) on present behavior, and is the best choice for those who want to explore mental health issues, including NPD as it is in the DSM.

I liked this book.
It's very structuring, written with simple words about a difficult theme. With many real examples from real life. I really appreciated the part with testimonials from narcissists themselves, it's like you get into their mind and you start to understand them better.... And after that, personally, I started to feel some kind of empathy for them..
I recommend this book for those who never or very little heard about narcissisme, to understand what is that, why is that, and how is that.

This book was an answer to my prayers. With narcissistic people in my past that I had to let go of and some in my life I cannot simply walk away from. Now I feel more equipped to protect my heart and establish boundaries. I am looking forward to book 2 & will be getting copies for some loved ones. It is easy to read and is going to change some lives.

This was a really insightful read. It helped me understand my father better and why he seemed to demand admiration regardless of whether it was justified. Plenty of excellent insights from a range of perspectives plus it's written by a someone who lived through a toxic relationship.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I can easily see why these are the things that narcissists wouldn’t want people to know. This book gives a surprisingly deep and poignant look at what it’s like to be inside the mind of a narcissist. It shows us some of the things that drive a narcissist and even some of the ways that society may be encouraging these harmful behaviors. Now that I have a better understanding of what can make a narcissist, I’m very curious to see the recommendations in the next book for coexisting with the narcissists you cannot remove from your life.

Did you know? A relatively new mental disorder is slowly beginning to raise its ugly head in America. It's called NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), characterized by several intolerable behaviors like a lack of consideration for others, extreme selfishness, manipulativeness, fragile egos that if pricked, cause sudden outbursts of anger, and so on. (Note: NPD is rigorously defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) of the American Psychiatric Association. You can refer to it for details, if interested.) The affected are psychopaths who grew up taught that success is everything, and nothing else matters in life! Nothing, absolutely!! They have a lofty image of success in mind that they strive to live up to, all the time. They are dead scared of failing, so regardless of whether they have the talent/ability, they're continually trying (or struggling) to live up to that image.

You won't be able to tell if someone you meet for the first time is a narcissist. Outwardly they are confident and charming people and you could easily fall for one ... It's only after you are into a close, personal relationship for some time with a narcissist that you'll realise what you're in for!

There are narcissists already around us, albeit in small numbers. Read this book to find out how to identify narcissists--and limit relationships with them, before it's too late. You'll also learn how to quit a relationship with a narcissist you can't tolerate any more and what sacrifices you'll have to make if you choose to continue.

This is an excellent, well-researched, book on narcissism, in my opinion. It discusses the subject at length. As the author Elena Miro puts it, her maltreatment by her former narcissistic spouse prompted her to earn a degree in Psychology and study narcissism in detail before beginning to write this book. This book, I think, can be a guide for understanding narcissism and toxic people and learning how to live with them peacefully.

This book has helped me understand my narcassist a bit better.

This book was interesting and confirmed a lot of what I went through before I left. I don't believe a relationship with a narcassist is possible or healthy but it is good for the author to write a series to help relationships if the target can't or won't leave.

There's an empathy that only comes with understanding. In this book Elena Miro sets out to provide a primer for dealing and connecting with the narcissist in your life. Surviving this type of emotional abuse can cause even the most saintly person to abandon their good relationship intentions. What Ms. Miro does is give you background, from the spectrum of narcissist disorders to the childhood roots. This understanding can give you the empathetic ability to overcome your own reactions so that you have the incentive to apply the knowledge gained toward improving your relationship

Interesting look on Narcissistic people and their behaviors. I have dealt with someone close to me that is narcissistic and have also had to overcome many things due to that relationship including divorce. I was able to relate to this book deeply and now also have a better understanding of how to handle this type of person as well as why they may be like this in the first place.

Great read and I would highly recommend.

I was raised by a narcissist. I have had relationships with narcissists. I always felt broken, inadequate or inferior around these types. This book explains narcissism, and shares examples of it, as well as coping mechanisms if you aren't able to completely walk away from one.

The most helpful chapter was the one in which the narcissist's tactics for manipulation and control are identified. I recommend reading this book because it truly helped me to see the red flags I once ignored.

If the Law of attraction has always sounded like a good idea to you but you've had trouble implementing the practicle application of it then this book is for you. I have been studying the law for several years now and reading this guide book brought a lot of the basic concepts into focus for me and the exercises towards the back end seem like an excellent roadmap to becoming a real practitioner of it.

I really liked how the book was clear and straight forward. It does go briefly not too much into the detail, into the narcissism in general what it is. It shares what the people who are narcissists think and how they portray the world as well as the people who had a relationship with one. What’s interesting the world narcissist is overly used but people are still not aware of the real narcissist traits.

Really informative, just the right book. Everyone needs to read this, especially people who have experience of dealing with narcissists in their lives, because it is so much burden, you feel trapped without guidance and without knowing, that you are not the only one who needs to face this abomination-narcissist everyday. So, it's a must-read, everyone!

Educational on Narcissistic characteristics and why

This is the 3rd book I read on this topic and is by far the best. It’s informative on characteristics and why they are that way and how it could have happened.
The book does seem geared for women readers. I think it should be revised so the author is speaking to all genders experiencing a narcissistic person in their life.

Was good

Very well written. Lots of credible sources too. There is one demi lavato quote but thats okay. I found it funny that it ends with "love yourself" at the end of the book about narcissism. Good laugh

At last a truly great book on narcissism!

This should be everyone’s go to book on narcissist. Hands down the most well written, well researched, comprehensive, and exquisitely laid out book on narcissist out there. I almost did not read this because I was so tired of reading poorly researched, regurgitated old information on narcissist and was sure this book was the more of the same. Boy was I wrong. I loved this book, how it was crafted, it use of wonderful quotes, many new to me, and the wonderful research presented in a lucid and easy to understand tone. Buy this book!
