On a ghostly night, lightened only by the moons above, a pair fled their home in search of a magical cure, a chance. Reasons still partially unknown, it was a trust in each other that propelled the thieves to embark on this perilous journey. With time and pertinent information weighing against the odds of their success, the two would soon realize just how lucky they were to have each other.
Full of magic and secrets - I picked up Pair, Quest for the Silver Arrow, at an event where the author had a booth. I was delighted to get a signed copy. The first thing I noticed right away was the excellent cover art. It was very compelling and led me to want to dive into this story. This is more an epic fantasy story or a sword and sorcery fantasy story than a young adult novel. It was a speedy read and the story was engaging and enjoyable. It had beautiful world-building with solid descriptions. I liked the included map. I enjoy being able to refer back to it while I am reading. The story centers around two female characters, both thieves. They pull off a job and find themselves dealing with unexpected repercussions. The rest of the story is about them trying to fix a huge problem and save their lord's life in the process. The author had a lot of creative ideas, and I found myself wishing the chapters were longer and expanded the story more. However, the author has a lot of talent in storytelling, and I look forward to picking up the next in the series. 4 out of 5 for original ideas and great characters.
To the author- don’t stop writing. People actually fighting for their dreams nowadays is more and more rare.
This novel was a quick read, and pretty enjoyable! I like supporting smaller authors as I am one myself, and I know how terrifying it can be to open yourself and your art up to the world.
A few misspellings here and there and not as detail-heavy as some fantasy, but overall the ideas are great and the storyline is intriguing.
I met the author at a booth in my hometown, and bought both books he had. If you read this, Nicholas— I’d love to connect and work together sometimes, seeing as we’re both local writers. If you ever need a beta for future projects, let me know!
I got this book signed from the author himself after discovering it locally. While it is a quick read and could go through a few more rounds of edits, it was overall pretty enjoyable.
The story itself was engaging as are the two protagonists. I am curious to how they became so close, and would like more of their backstory as a team but this might be discovered more in the second book.
While the book itself isn’t super polished, it’s still a fun read, and I will be reading the second one. Also, I absolutely adore Raven, and I’m so glad there is some positive wolf representation.
This book is filled with action, adventure, intense scenes and, best of all, a lot of heart. My favourite thing about this book were the relationships and the lore. Love that the main protagonists were two, strong, badass females who took a lot of punches but always got up and fought back! Sarah's wolf companion, Raven, is just simply the best. The lore of the world is super interesting and I hope to see this developing more in the next books. A fun read!
