I’m a lover of all things books, a hopeless romantic, and have always had a passion for writing. Between being a sappy romantic, my love of an HEA, my crazy imagination, and ok, let’s be real, my dirty mind, I fell easily into writing romance.
I’m a huge baseball fan and yet, a complete girly, girl. I’m an obsessive reader and have a slight (hahaha! Slight? Yeah, right) addiction to signed books.
I’m married to my very own book boyfriend, an alpha male with a sexy, sweet side. He is the best inspiration, my biggest supporter and the love of my life. He is also incredibly patient and understanding about the fact that he has to fight the voices in my head for my attention.
I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Peyton's character was my favourite, Nathan coming in as a close second. The fact that Peyton was a panther and Nathan a wolf, intrigued me. It's always great to read about mixed shifters.
I read this book in one go and was surprised when I reached the major cliffhanger at the end.
I'm looking forward to see what happens next in their investigation.

DNF at 50%

I was so confused and disappointed by this book. Even though this is the first book in the series, I felt like I was stepping into the series halfway through. The author seemed to throw in so much unnecessary background information about secondary and tertiary characters that seemed to have no influence over the main characters' actions. Even if this is a spinoff from another series, as a reader I expect to come into this series easily without being bogged down with background info from previous books, and that just didn't happen here.

There were also some weird shifter "rules" in this book that I've never come across in any other shifter world. Born shifters didn't have fated mates, while shifters and their animal counterparts seemed to be two different entities in one body. I love the fantasy of instalove between a shifter and his mate, so this twist was just not something I enjoyed reading. After the 30% mark, I found myself skimming through to the end to discover what the cliffhanger was, and again I was disappointed and disinterested over the final twist. Overall, I found this story boring, superfluous, and just not what I was expecting. I will not be reading the second book.

Alpha

Elle has literally blown me away with this read, engagement factor is phenomenal add in a story that has your mind all over the place and you are in for an awesome ride.

Peyton is the lead lady, I loved the fact that she didn’t back down in any situation. Her strength, intelligence is something I crave on a lead. Meeting Nathan will change everything.

Nathan gives a whole new meaning to Alpha, he’s whole demeanour is flat out hot. But when he opens his mouth? Melting right here.

After a night spent together these two think that’s all it is. Though both admit it’s the most explosive experience either have ever had. But with different lives they both know they’ll probably never meet again.

But one night left a surprise neither thought about. A baby.

Still in shock and trying to wrap her mind around this new reality, Peyton witnesses an attack when she steps in to help she in turn nearly becomes the victim.

When she’s threatened again she runs, right into Nathan’s territory (she doesn’t know this) and right into his arms.

These two are phenomenal, she won’t submit and he’s struggling to rein in his alpha ways.

The twists and turns in this story is well developed it moves quickly and at times is intense.

Be warned it ends on a cliffhanger but it’s so worth it.

It’s a yes from me.

I enjoy this authors books and when I saw this paranormal one I wanted to read it asap. And I was freaking hooked but I didn’t like the ending… oh man… How am I going to wait for the next book ☹

Suspense, action, hot chemistry, and some off the charts steam… If you like paranormal shifter romance with all the above then this one is for you… I loved Nathan and Peyton. One was a loner and didn’t think she would ever settle down, and the other was dominant sexy alpha male. They were intense, funny and I loved their banter. I was totally captured from start to finish. I need the next one like… NOW 😊

An Unexpected Claim was an unexpected surprise! I have enjoyed Elle Christensen's books in the past, and I love shifter PNR stories, so I snagged this up! I did feel at times that I had missed something. I don't know if this is connected to other books of hers or if there are just a lot of characters.

Peyton, our heroine, is a very independent woman. As a panther, she is a bit of a loner and likes to flit off to new locales as often as possible. While at her home base in New York, her life takes a HUGE turn-in the form of a baby and a serial killer.

Nathan is very alpha. As the pack leader, he is used to having his orders followed and he really doesn't understand why Peyton won't just do what she is told. Both Nathan and Payton are keeping things from each other and that makes sense! So often in PNR stories they find their "mate" and that is just it. But, that is not how it happens for Nathan and Payton. They both readily admit they hardly know each other and while fate might have forced them together, trust is still something that has to be earned and built.

There is plenty of action in An Unexpected Claim as well. There are all kinds of issues happening in the shifter world that Nathan is trying to manage, then there is the serial killer attacking shifters who now has his sights set on Peyton. The book moves at a fast pace and I really enjoyed it!

Suspense, action, fiery, smoking hot chemistry and a killer ending that made my jaw drop!!  I loved this action packed pnr story and can't wait for more.

The initial part of the book was quite busy. It's set in a fabulous interconnected universe (some stories of which I have read and loved), so there was a lot of information and characters to absorb early on, but still perfect as a standalone series. However once I got who everyone was, the story took off, the momentum grew, the suspense built and Nathan and Peyton's connection exploded and not just in the bedroom! I flew through the pages, wondering how or if lone Panther shifter Peyton would or could settle in one place despite her obvious connection with Nathan.

If you love a stubborn, bossy, very dominant alpha-hole male wolf shifter, pack alpha Nathan will tick every single box. He was as frustrating with his bulldozer "my way" attitude as he was hot and sexy with his long hair and dominant but protectively loyal qualities. He'd probably drive me nuts too but I couldn't help loving him. I do have a soft spot for wolves and he hit my spot 😉

These two were like fire and ice and seemed to push all of each others buttons. At times you could cut the tension with a knife, but Nathan was determined to protect her at all costs and Peyton was adamant she could look after herself. I loved her fire, sass, strength and independence but there was something else, a vulnerability that accentuated her nomadic nature. Nathan had his work cut out for him and I had to chuckle at the ways he "tried" to control her.

This book was fast paced but had some emotional, tender moments and humour amongst the angst and super steamy scenes. With a killer on the loose, tension was high and secrets were being kept that could change everything! The story kept me turning the pages to the very end, I loved it, but omg, that cliffhanger ending was an absolute killer!! Thank goodness there's not too long to wait for book 2, I will be on tenterhooks waiting for it!

Wish I knew there was a surprise!!

Gave this a three stars rating mostly for the surprise pregnancy. This would be my first surprise pregnancy book and I’m not a fan of the trope. I enjoyed the chemistry Peyton and Nate had but got a little tired of her pulling away from him because she wasn’t ready to tell him he was the baby daddy. I didn’t understand that. I really liked the world she began to build and wish she spent more time on that. The time she took to tell about Peyton and her baby drama could have been used to build a back story building this great other world. Definitely would love more of that. Eventually Peyton let Nate in a i have a feeling book to will be much better. Especially since she left on a great cliff hanger.

3.5/5 ⭐️ good but could’ve been better

A loner female panther shifter by the name of Peyton lays her eyes on Alpha wolf shifter Nathan and it is sizzling hot. After one romp together both can’t figure out why this feels different than with previous partners. It’s an ok read, but the constant replaying of the same event in both POV was alittle redundant. I also felt it needed another go around with editing as there were many issues with sentence structure. Despite it starting off hot the fire dropped to glacial temps for most of the book and we really only get one full “scene” the rest are skipped over and merely foreplay. Despite the issues I’ve stated I’m still intrigued to see how their story ends as it does end on a cliffhanger.

Wolf/panther romance

-PNR with a wolf and panther
-Serial killer mystery
-H is an alpha but he wasn’t Jp enough for me. Hopefully his alpha vibes and possesive nature kick up.
-h was a nomad, hacker, tough

This was different enough that it didn’t feel like every other Pnr. Kept me hooked and I’m ready for book 2.

I can't with this book. There is a weird info dump in the book, where I felt like I was supposed to read a different book (turns out this is an offshoot of a series). But I felt the info she was dumping wasn't needed. There were weird consistencies. The towel is on, the towel is loosened, the towel is on the ground, the towel is tied around her again, then loosened...it was driving me nuts. I can't finish this book.

I just sat there tapping the screen for like five minutes wondering why I was only getting author info when it finally clicked with me that she just left us with that massive cliffhanger!!!!!! What the hell! How am I supposed to wait 2 months to find out what happens next?!

Honestly shifter romances are some of my favourites so I was sucked into this world right away. It’s awesome & I can’t wait for more books, I also have a feeling it’s one I’ll be rereading in the future. I’m really liking all the side characters as well, it’s a whole new world I can’t wait to dive into!

Nathan & Peyton are combustible to say the least. The fire they have for each other in both the psychical sense & the way they banter is freaking hot! I’m also loving the surprises that keep getting thrown their way. Seriously loved this book & devoured it in one sitting but I’m pretty peeved about that cliffy at the end!

Ok

This book was your typical miscommunication trope. Literally one spicy scene and then the rest of the plot revolves around two grown adults refusing to speak clearly to each other. Peyton doesn’t want to settle down or be tied to one place yet refuses to leave Nathan’s house even though she is abandoned there for 12+ hours everyday.

Nathan is ultra protective and runs a thriving security business that apparently can’t run without him. Not only does his work, pack, and ambassador duties come before his expecting “mate”, he hasn’t learned to set boundaries or tell people no in the hundred of years he has been alive.

Genuinely unlikeable characters with the maturity of teenagers.

I would recommend reading Crossed Fates first - a standalone book in the Kingdom of Wolves series, that explains more about other characters mentioned in this book and also makes you understand how this realm is different from the others and how mates work differently in different realms.

Especially Savannah as she seems to be becoming a huge part of this book I really liked this book and I loved both the FMC and MMC! Both are feisty, fierce and stubborn characters And I didn’t think they would work together but they do!

Both need to do some more character building throughout the next 2 books but already we can see them both learning to compromise and learning how to handle the other. Nathan has grown more than Payton, as he has mentioned that even a wolf like him who is hundreds of years old can learn to adjust to the new life he will inevitably lead. Payton has shared a little bit with Savannah and also a small fraction to Nathan at the end of the book but she has a lot of growing to do. I guess we will get to know which path in life she will take once the baby is born and we find out if it’s a wolf or a panther.

Straight away we have a pregnancy - honestly I was shocked when she literally smelled she was pregnant a few hours after they had sex. That isn’t something I’ve read about before in other shifter books but it seems to be a staple in this universe so I’ll go with it.

Personally I think her father is going to be a huge part of this, because they ,emotion him and France a lot, plus Phillipee mentions an ‘unknown’ source, which leads me to her dad. I had a feeling he might be the male at the end of the book but by her mention of the scars it’s the serial killer (who I think is one of the dick alphas Nate mentioned in the book but I can’t remember his name as I write this).

I’m disappointed that they haven’t figured out that Payton is the one who deleted her own files, I mean she gets hold of a laptop and suddenly her stuff is gone but they can’t put it together? These are meant to be smart men but they haven’t put together her college background and what has happened together?

I like that I read the Crossed Fates book from the Kingdom of Wolves series first as it makes a lot of the back story mentioned in the book make sense, you understand Jace’s use of the portals, the eccentric witches and Savannah being in 5is Silver Lake Pack rather than her own pack in another realm. Some people used this as an excuse to downgrade the rating of this book as they were confused by the descriptions mentioned about the other book.

As for the ebook - there are some grammatical mistakes. Mainly spelling mistakes, missing punctuation and words. There is a chapter where Nathan goes to look at the Luna Calendar and gets sidetracked into a discussion about other business and the sentence just ends abruptly and no punctuation and then suddenly Nate is back looking at the calendar again. Either something is missing from the ebook or something went wrong and the authors readers didn’t pick it up. There are some continuity errors as well e.g she mentions it’s past midnight when she woke but then she heads Nate’s car roll up at 2 minutes to midnight… simple things that are wrong but throw me from the story.

Due to the ebook errors and some small things that I found irate about them figuring stuff out I have give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

As far as shifter romances go, I really liked this one. The story introduced an interesting dynamic that I haven't encountered often in this genre: the shifters involved are of different types, specifically a panther and a wolf. This added a fresh layer to the narrative, as the two characters had to navigate not only the usual challenges of romance but also the intrinsic differences between their species. Wolves, being pack animals, rely heavily on their community and structure, while panthers are solitary by nature, valuing their independence and autonomy. This contrast created compelling tension and gave depth to their relationship. It was fascinating to see how these differences were addressed and how the characters worked through them to find common ground, despite their contrasting instincts and cultural norms. The dynamic added a richness to the story that made their journey toward a future together feel both challenging and rewarding.

While the book didn’t break new ground in terms of its overall plot, it had enough unique elements to keep me hooked. The addition of murder mystery and thriller themes elevated what might otherwise have been a fairly standard supernatural romance. These elements added a layer of suspense and intrigue, keeping me engaged as I tried to unravel the mystery alongside the characters. It was a nice change of pace from the typical formula and gave the story a bit more weight and complexity.

The characters were another highlight for me, particularly Peyton. Her independent personality and strong desire for freedom and control over her own life made her a relatable and compelling protagonist. I appreciated that she wasn't a passive character and that her decisions were driven by her own needs and values. Her interactions with her love interest were filled with chemistry and conflict, which made their journey feel authentic and grounded.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. While it may not be a book that stays with me forever, it was a well-crafted story that kept my attention and offered some fresh perspectives on shifter romance. I’d happily pick up another book by this author, especially if they continue to blend unique dynamics and engaging subplots into their work. It’s a solid choice for fans of the genre who are looking for something a little different without straying too far from the familiar tropes.

I have issues with Nathan because overall I am definitely intrigued enough to read the next book. However, I really need to see more progress in Nathan's attitude and behavior as he is not making himself an attractive main interest. As he continued to further restrict her and punish her for "disobeying" I was getting irritated right along with her and wanted to scratch his eyes out myself.

As an alpha he is used to getting his way and people following his orders but he isn't considering Peyton at all. No matter what she does or says he ignores all of it and continues to expect her to bend to his will and gets angry over and over when she doesn't. She cannot tell him any more clearly than in the very frank discussion she had with him that his way isn't working and is making things worse for her.

Not to mention he intentionally kept everything away from her "to protect her" despite everything she has told him and his demands she tell him everything. It goes both ways dude, he hasn't told her shit and when she calls him out on it and how he was the one who said omission counts as lying he backpedals and decides it is only lying if she's the one doing it.

Parts of the story left me reeling a little too because it often feels like you're jumping into a stand-alone series or spinoff from another book. There are some characters that come into play that feel like you're supposed to know who they are or how they're involved even though this is the first book. The author introduces a host of other species and even parallel worlds by just including them in the story without any apparent relevance to the plot.

Peyton Dyer is a panther shifter that waitresses at a bar until her wandering spirit calls to her. She's alpha to her core and will not tolerate being told what to do. Now a serial killer is after her and she will need Nathan King's help.

Nathan King is a wolf shifter and the Alpha of his pack. He's used to putting out all kinds of fires within the shifter community. He spots a waitress that he knows is trouble but can't help himself. The fire is now within him. He will do whatever he can to help Peyton.

This was an awesome first book in the Silver Lake Shifters series. The chemistry between Peton and Nathan was combustible 🔥😍🔥. They both are alphas so watching them navigate their personality clash was hilarious. Of course, there was a couple of moments where I wanted to knock one of them over the head but what do you expect between 2 stubborn alphas? 😂

Yes, there's a cliffie at the end but there is a warning in the blurb so I knew it going in. Thankfully, we only have to wait until August for book 2! There were so many wonderful characters/possible new storylines that hopefully we will get many more books in this series. 🖤

The first book in this series with adrenaline constantly pumping and drama high on the scale.
After a one night stand, Peyton finds out she is pregnant and everything escalates quickly from there.
Her one time lover is a powerful alpha who is protective, serious, grumpy, attractive, irritating and arrogant.
When she is almost killed by a serial killer, her panther seems to instinctively run to safety where she is found by Nathan.
He will soon find out her secrets but he will also discover that this panther doesn't do as she is told.

There is conflict between the two main characters but I think they are perfectly matched.
I loved Nathan's possessive protectiveness but I can see why this would anger Peyton who is fiercely independent.
I can't help but think that Peyton could help the situation just by staying indoors and listening to him.
This ends on a cliffhanger with such a shock that I am going to have to be patient for the next book.
Such a powerful story with a unique plot and a stubborn couple at the centre of it.

The worst part about this book is that it ended... and I mean that in the most loving way possible 😉 That cliffhanger ending about killed me… I could not put this book down! I just wanted to keep reading. The characters, storyline, and suspenseful moments had me utterly hooked on each page.
I’ve always had a soft spot for paranormal/shifter romance. I am easily able to lose myself in the incredible “alternate universes” that these kind of novels provide. I always find them so captivating and intriguing to read, and this novel was no different! Plus, all the suspense, passion and action this book provided was amazing, so that always helps too. 👌🏻😉
The main characters were perfection! Peyton and Nathan were strong, passionate and vulnerable and had aspects of their personalities (and their lives) that I’m sure every reader can relate to (at least on SOME level because I’m guessing the people reading this review probably can’t shift😉 lol.) I need more of them already! I can’t wait! 😩😍👌🏻
I was blown away by author Elle Christensen’s writing! I love, love, love her style and how she developed the story as each chapter goes on. I cannot wait to get my hands on all of her future works to come!❤️💕 100/10! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed the want/hate relationship between Peyton and Nathan. There are so many things that are working against the two being able to come together, so I am very interested in seeing how Elle Christensen is going to have that work. I will say that I very much wanted to hit both of them multiple times throughout the story, so I definitely felt a connection with them but that ending…Elle…COME ON!! I almost threw my kindle!

Though this story is labeled as a stand alone, I would highly recommend reading The Slayer Witch before hand. It sets up a lot of the cross overs that are brought up with the secondary and tertiary characters. It also explains the multiple universes and how they are similar/different. I am really surprised by the complexity and interconnectedness of these stories. This level of plotting is amazing.

All I can say is, please Elle, don’t leave us like that again…and I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book.

Peyton and Nathan meet at her friends bar and have a terrific one-night, realizing that she is pregnant a little later in the day. Weeks later, upon leaving the bar from the back door, she walks into a murder in progress and the guy goes after her as well. The cops showing up is the only reason he stops and she is alive. Leaving the hospital and going home, he surprises her that night to finish the job, but she escapes, ending up unconscious by a lake.... on land that Nathan owns.
The characters are complex, with great backstories, intense feelings and opposite personalities. The storyline is full of drama, danger, secrets, surprises, twists, close friends, new friends, escapes, hospital rooms, steam, and much more. Loved their chemistry and his protectiveness. The ending just threw my heart into my stomach. Can not wait to read the next part.

Truly amazing. This book has it all, snarky female character, dominating Alpha male, a creepy serialkiller and of course, shifters.

From the start of the story, there are a lot of sexual tension between Peyton and Nathan. And the tension only increases, when Peyton ends up needing Nathan's protection.

Just the describtions of them butting heads, almost all the time, is hilarious. Nathan is used to getting his way because he is the Alpha. Whereas Peyton is a wanderer, a free spirit, and has never stayed long in one place and does not do well with rules and commands.
But although their differences, something is blooming between them.

That cliffhanger through!!! That is not okay, I am not okay. Now I have to find the next book immediately, because I have to know how their story continues.

The book starts great! In the first 5% both characters meet and have connections. But then in the next 65% of the book they barely have any interaction or conversation. Then next 20% they fight pretty much all the time and then back to nothing. I didn’t know it’s 3 books otherwise I would’ve stop at about 70% and not finish it. Too many characters are presented, I barely remember half of them. Nathan is so many things on top of Alpha in the same time I don’t see how his positions help him achieve anything with the problem. They are mates but they don’t know anything about wash other. Peyton gives more information to girl who she just literally met but not to Nathan. So many things didn’t work for me. Had big expectations for the book but was disappointed in the end.

This was ok but had the potential to be better.
Unfortunately it felt like I'd missed a book as there seemed to be assumptions that we knew information that hadn't been provided to us.
There were also times when a whole lot of information is thrown at us, and it was very much a tell and don't show, which made it hard to absorb. The timeline also wasn't clear as to how much time had passed between or during chapters. It was hard to take in, and I'm still a little confused with the world building and some of the secondary characters.
The chemistry between Peyton and Nathan was fantastic, but their poor communication with both keeping certain things from each other (especially when it concerns Peyton's safety), and Nathan not really listening to Peyton got frustrating after a while.
I'll check out the next book as it's on KU and hope it gets better.

Peyton Dyer is a lone shifter with a past she tries to avoid. One night waiting tables she meets Nathan King, alpha of the Silver Lake pack. Their one night stand becomes so much more due to circumstances involving fate and a serial killer.
The chemistry between Peyton and Nathan is the best thing about this book. The two are determined not to mate (and can we just say agh to all the angst about it). But the two are forced to be a part of each other’s lives and must start to face the feelings they have for each other.
One night is all it took to tie Peyton to Nathan. Mates or not love never comes easy, especially when you don’t want it. Can’t wait to find out how this sexy, domineering alpha wills his mate over.

OMG, I was warned this book ended on a cliffhangar and it certainly did. I can't believe I have to wait another two months to figure out what happens. I also didn't realize that this book ties into some of the characters of Crossed Fates (really liked that book as well). I've read this book twice in three days. I love the characters of Silver Lake, the shifter passion, mating practices, over protectiveness of the Alphas, jealousy of the Alphas and the sexual tension scenes amongst Peyton and Nathan. The story line was amazing. I think I figured out who Peyton's grandfather is and I can't wait to see who ratted her out and what her history is. I think I figured out the grandfather and the ratter and why but I just can't wait for book 2. I think it needs to release earlier LOL! I cannot wait to meet Ms. Christensen at the Shameless book convention in Orlando. See you there!

I have been huge into PNR lately and Elle Christensen nailed it all for me. I enjoyed this one from start to finish. From the concept to the push and pull, I was lost into this world that was created. Peyton is fierce and a fighter. She is stubborn and solitary. She doesn’t let Nathan walk all over her. But that alpha tendencies that Nathan has is just daaaaang! There is so much going on in this story that you are just lost down the rabbit hole. There is a lot of information given but that connection that Peyton and Nathan have is beyond intense. I needed more with them and that ending??! Holy intense and omg! I am dying to get my hands on what is to come with this series!
