A Broken Peak Pack kind of arranged mating. He’ll do anything to keep his pack safe and she’ll do everything to maintain her independence. They can both get what they want … but it means faking their mating. Allard’s been hiding a secret since the first day he arrived at Broken Peak. His mate was chosen for him before he was born. When Delia shows up at Broken Peak, intent on convincing Allard to go through with the mating then returning to her life in Chicago, Allard has to face his past. There’s only one problem… Other packs want Delia. Delia Lyall is a rarity, she’s a pure-blooded wolf shifter and an Alpha. The only thing she cares about is duty and obligation and her independence. When Allard proposes a fake mating, she falls under the protection of Broken Peak Pack. And Allard. With Broken Peak Pack’s safety in the balance, destiny and love confront the danger head on, will Broken Peak lose its Crown and Allard lose his mate? Or will it be enough for Allard and Delia to realize their love is real and their mating is fated?
This is my first book by this author and although it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed this story of mated before birth mates. I like the push and pull between them because they don't want to be forced to mate. I love meeting the Broken Peak pack and the past characters makin want to go back and read past books. I love the way they watch out for each other.
Allard and Delia have an arranged mating that neither one wants. Before they were even born, their parents decided the first-born son of the Colorado Pack would mate the first-born daughter of the Chicago Pack. Even Allard’s own pack didn’t know he was the first-born son of the Alpha of the biggest and second most powerful pack in the United States. But they would know soon. He had left to avoid the pairing, but none of his plans seemed to be happening. It was time to talk to the Alpha Bray… who it seems already knew the story up to the recent information. And even Allard hadn’t known he was specifically mentioned because he was a pure-blooded wolf; even his siblings were not. And the agreement was not based on his status as heir of the Colorado Pack but on his pure blood. Evil the Council could not interfere on his behalf. It looked like the Prophecy of thousands of years ago was starting to play out.
Delia shows up at Broken Peak, wanting to convince Allard to go through with the mating then letting her return to her independent life in Chicago. Other packs want Delia Lyall for her pure blood and the fact she is an Alpha. She is willing to do her duty, but she wants to keep her independence. If Allard proposes a fake mating, would she fall under the protection of Broken Peak Pack and him? Or might Allard and Delia realize their love is real and their mating is fated and they can’t work around that anymore?
A enjoyable story in this series is about Allard, wolf shifter and member of the Broken Peak Pack who is reflecting on his pack brother's who are now mated and in love. Allard doesn't have that luxury since being the first born of the Colorado Pack he was matched to the first born daughter of the Chicago Pack. Allard in a funk is bemoaning his fate. Meanwhile Delia Lyall, alpha of the Chicago Pack, drives to the Broken Peak Pack with her sister-in-law Geneva in a angry fit when she thinks about Allard. They send Mac to meet them at the end of the road and as they walk Delia tells him about mating in name only. Then Geneva and Mac inform her that her family sent her to Broken Peak Pack to stay. When Delia sees Allard will this be the beginning of a love match? What about the Prophecy? I loved Allard and Delia's characteristics, the drama and action engaging, and the story line was entertaining in this shifter romance. This enjoyable story is better understood if you read the previous books in this series to get depth of the supporting characters. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.
Two wolves brought together before they were born by their shifter parents wanting power, finally meet and end up bouncing off each other as they are forced to be together as mates for the families. Is it just for show though? Even for most of the Broken Peak pack this is all that they are to be told. I love the way they try to show each other that fate has not stepped in and is showing them the true way things are going though. I don't like the way that they end up hurting themselves and others in trying to avoid fate. But there are others out there that are determined for this mating not to happen or for it to end as soon as it has started. This just shows the strength of the the Broken Peak Pack as they come together as family once again to fight for one of their own and make sure that their mate (true or false) is safe and strong.
I am thoroughly enjoying this series and really hope that there is to be more after this.
I was given a copy of this to read in exchange for this, my honest opinion.
The author has taken us back the the Broken Peak pack to spend some time with our friends and to meet some new ones. Allard and Delia have an arranged mating that neither one wants, however, when she arrives at Broken Peak things are not as they seem. Will the Prophecy become real?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book! The characters are well written and developed. They are complex and grow throughout the book. The story world is detailed and interesting. This book pulled me in and made me cheer for the characters when they overcame a challenge. I definitely recommend it if you like shifter romances!
Jules Crisare has written another wonderful book in the Broken Peak Series. You can read this as a stand alone book, BUT... it is SOOO much better if you read all of the books. I love the characters in these books. They are dominant, but they are also able to work together to build harmony. There are prophecies afoot. Shifters are angling for position. I enjoyed the book, it was entertaining and I can't wait for the next one to come out. I would highly recommend this book.
this book had me hooked from page one cant wait for more the author has a real way with putting words to page so that it keeps a reader entranced in the story
