With Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at the forefront of her vocation, Mother Angelica treasured her beloved Spouse in the Eucharist. She brought Him her joys, sufferings, and all the contents of her heart in Adoration.
In twenty-nine brief and brilliant chapters, she guides us to do the same, with Scripture references and Mother’s personal prayers, meditations, and intentions.
An ever-faithful disciple of the Church and Her Tradition, Mother Angelica saved her most precious words for her viewers. The fruit of her years of prayerful reflections as a Poor Clare Nun of Perpetual Adoration, this book is a beautiful accompaniment to prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament or at home.
A Holy Hour with Mother Angelica also presents litanies and novenas as well as Mother’s teachings on topics such as:
Resisting Temptation Love and Reparation Repentance An Hour of Healing An Hour of Joy An Hour of Trusting in God God’s Compassion The Beatitudes
Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation, PCPA (born Rita Antoinette Rizzo; April 20, 1923 – March 27, 2016), usually known as Mother Angelica, was an American Franciscan nun best known as a television personality and the founder of both the internationally-broadcast cable television network Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) and the radio network WEWN.
In 1981, Mother Angelica started broadcasting religious programs from a converted garage in Birmingham, Alabama. Over the next twenty years, she developed a media network that included radio, TV, and internet channels as well as printed media.
Mother Angelica hosted shows on EWTN until she had a stroke in 2001. She continued to live in the cloistered monastery in Hanceville until her death at age 92 on March 27, 2016, Easter Sunday.
In 2009, Mother Angelica was a recipient of the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Award granted by Pope Benedict XVI for services to the Catholic Church.
The recently released A Holy Hour with Mother Angelica is a collection of chapters adapted from the 1988 EWTN television series of the same name. Each chapter has a different spiritual focus. There are holy hours of reparation and repentance, on parables and the Passion, on the Beatitudes, the Ascension, and more. Each chapter also includes a litany, such as to the Sacred Heart of Jesus or Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
Whatever the theme, Mother Angelica’s strong, no-nonsense attitude comes through strongly in each of her reflections. She guides readers toward the truth of the faith on all matters, unapologetically criticizing the errors of the greater culture and reminding believers that their true home is in God’s kingdom. She expresses her deep devotion to Jesus and models a beautiful commitment to prayer that every reader will desire to emulate.
Reading this book is as inspiring as watching Mother Angelica on television, and it feels almost like being in a room with her and having a personal moment of spiritual counsel. Though it would certainly be possible to meditate on the contents of each chapter for an hour (or more), these chapters can also be read in far less time if needed, which is a definite plus for busy moms.
A Holy Hour with Mother Angelica is a wonderful title to keep on a nightstand or bedside bookshelf to pick up at the start or end of each day for a time of private prayer. It would also be a perfect companion for going to Adoration, especially for those who don’t feel quite sure what to do with that quiet time before the Blessed Sacrament.
Mother Angelica’s words are as valuable and relevant today as they were more than 30 years ago, and it is a gift to have them collected here for the continued encouragement of the faithful.

This is an excellent book to bring into Adoration. I read a chapter each week, and I truly mean it, I could hear Mother Angelica talking to me. Each chapter is a "Holy Hour", and is filled with her wisdom and love of our Lord. This will be one to reread as needed.
Wonderful book to read during Adoration or just for daily devotional reading. Mother Angelica had such a wonderful gift for being able to preach the Gospel in a simple and relatable way.
