SECRETS HIDDEN INSIDE CLEOPATRA'S TOMB HAVE THE POWER TO DESTROY CIVILIZATION
Since she was a little girl, Dallas Jones has been obsessed with finding Cleopatra's Tomb.
Now, as an archeologist in Minnesota, she stumbles upon a clue and realizes that she might actually know where the Queen of Egypt is buried.
Her enthusiasm is put to the test when she finds out that others, with less pure intentions, are also looking for the tomb.
They believe that the tomb contains secrets that could end civilization.
Faded with powerful men intent on destruction, Dallas realizes it is up to her to stop them by finding the tomb before they do.
But nothing has prepared her for the dangers she must face and the fact that these men will stop at nothing —including murder —to make sure she doesn't find the tomb first.
Kristi Belcamino is a USA TODAY bestselling author, an Agatha, Anthony, Barry & Macavity, award finalist, a newspaper cops reporter, and an Italian mama who makes a tasty biscotti.
I thought the story was well written and had a nice flow to it. I enjoyed the story, but obviously I'll have to read the next book in this series to find out the end of the plot.
Colton and Dallas were seeing an Egyptian exhibition, it was more than that for Dallas a dream of being an archeologist. She could imagine the thrill of discovery and having small coins to feel them in ones hand. A man came up to her. saying she looked liked her mother, that he had worked for her dad, wanting to ask more he had slipped away. Her father a photographer traveling the world. A world changed for her as he told of Cleopatra and her tomb never found. Leading a dig could she be the one to find the tomb. A mother who had secrets from Dallas to find them after her death. Led her to Safra. . A woman who said they trusted her and that she would come. Saying it was only the beginning for Dallas of bigger things to come. A different plot line then her other books and I thoroughly enjoyed. A woman who had a desire, a dream and took steps to follow, and now to continue on this new journey. Now knowing she was like her mother in so many ways that had been unknown.
I have probably never said that apart from urban fantasy, thrillers and westerns this sort of thriller archeology was my secret genre. I had read others before but this is up there with them no doubt. Full of twists and turns all the way to the ending you don’t see coming. Roll on book two. Highly recommended.
WOW This book takes you on a wild adventure in search of Cleopatra's tomb. Filled with action suspense great scene descriptions you feel like you are right there with the characters. The story follows a young insecure but tough main character Dallas on her journey to find not only the location of Cleopatra's tomb but also answers to questions that have plagued her throughout her life. With the help of her boss/friend/lover & a secret organisation she follows not only the maps but an instinct that she is ment to be the one destined to find this much sought after treasure. From page one you are drawn in & will find it impossible to put down. Cleverly ended so we are left wanting more.
Dallas Jones is an archaeology student obsessed with finding Cleopatra's tomb lost for centuries. Artefacts are found at a temple site, Thanks to a mysterious all-female fighters group, called the Daughters of Isis, Dallas plus her senior tutor at the university, Colton, are able to return to the site Dallas located. Safra the DoI leader agrees to take over security at the site, after another raid we attack and a murder. Who does she resemble? What happens in secret tunnels underneath the temple? How does Dallas get injured and then threatened with death? How can she escape?
After a slow build and slight meandering, the plot seems to finish with an important discovery, only to 'jump-start' with an unlikely coda, which imho could have replaced much of the first 66% of the book and been nearly as good a storyline, without the setbacks and half-hearted romance between Dallas and Colton. The whole needs some better editing and grammar checks, which, although not interfering with the story, are still irritating when they're so frequent, as is the rather feeble cliff-hanger.
Why not try Kristi Belcamino's Buried Secrets for yourself and see what you think? It's an archaeological mystery-thriller/romance, I can recommend to fans of these genres!
Another amazing story by this author, one of my favorites! I never knew there was such a wonderful story about Cleopatra! And this young archeologist, Dallas Jones, brought it all to life as she lived her life to find Cleopatra's tomb.
Challenges to her quest sprang up in front of Dallas from so many different directions. A person with less strength and determination would have been easily discouraged. But every time a roadblock appeared, she found a way around it. She had several close friends that helped her along the way, and one very surprising person who appeared just in time to save the day a couple of times!
The story story begins in a college classroom, travels to the Egyptian desert and finishes back where it started, but with so very many changes happening. Dallas's history is explored and her parents played a significant role in shaping her destiny.
Love also plays an important part in the story, as Dallas becomes involved with a colleague named Colton, who accompanies her on her adventures and becomes her brave protector and lover. Their relationship is a challenge for Dallas which she eventually accepts and finds joy in it. What a totally rewarding story to read and become immersed in!
Dallas, an anthropology professor, has been enthralled with Cleopatra ever since she was a little girl and it led her to her current profession. As the story progresses a new lead spurs action, an ill advised trip causes reaction, while enemies and allies spring from the most uncommon direction. Kristi Belcamino has stepped away from her typical crime dramas with vigilante justice and is taking an excellent side trip into the archeological mystery of Cleopatra’s tomb. I absolutely adored Dallas and her take no prisoners attitude toward her theory on the location of the tomb. The supporting cast is equally lovable and completely relatable. I look forward to the further development of this series and what happens as Dallas searches for her ‘holy grail’.
As a big fan of this author I knew I was going to get the adventure of a lifetime. Dallas is searching for the tomb of Cleopatra, however things aren’t as easy as just digging in the dirt. She’s also not the only one to be searching for the tomb and they’re not being good sports. I really enjoyed the adventure and where the mystery took us but I felt the characters were lacking, conversations were choppy and characters had inconsistent personalities. Dallas is a young lady, a professor and her own story to tell. I just felt that Dallas was not as mature as I would’ve thought. I definitely feel the story has potential and I’m hoping to hear more about a sequel and if Dallas has more success. I received a copy from the author and have honestly written my review.
This starts off with a bang then delves into the beginning of the adventure with a few flashbacks. The protagonist, Dallas, is an archeologist/college professor obsessed with finding Cleopatra’s tomb. Colton is her boss but they are interested in each other romantically. A series of accidental happenings propel Dallas and Colton to apply for a dig site in Egypt. Once there, things really get out of hand. Luckily, Dallas had befriended a special group. There were quite a few players - good and bad - who wanted to find Cleopatra’s tomb. It kept me guessing until almost the end. Great read.
Dallas Jones and Colton McCloud are professors at a university in the archeological department. Dallas has been studying where Cleopatra's tomb could be located. An archeologist dream is to make a discovery of this nature. They are not the only ones who wish to make this discovery. There are some people that will kill to get the gold and coins associated with the tomb. A very suspenseful novel with thrilling moments.
This was previously released on 4/26/2019, as Tomb of the Queen, the 2nd Jo Bennett novel by Nick Thacker + Kristi Belcamino. The story here is identical except the character names are changed. It is not the rebrand I care about but a common courtesy to your readers on your mailing list so we don't have to purchase a book we own already. Due to trust issues I would like to be removed from your mailing list.
Thrilling exciting .Melinda scary and really enjoyed the different aspects of the storyline. It went from death to love, from excitement at finding more about where Cleopatra could be buried. To more death and danger. Every chapter had you transfixed. As I said I didn't want this book to end and yet it had to so we can again go back to Egypt and have more exciting adventures with Dallas Jones. Totally recommend this brilliantly written book...
Buried Secrets, my twelfth read from author Kristi Belcamino. Well written & enjoyable, a captivating tale that takes unexpected twists & turns, always keeping the reader engaged and guessing until the book’s end. “I received a free copy of this book back in February of this year and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I got this book & lost track of it until now. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Clever and imaginative! Great, multi-faceted characters. Very interesting plot. Vivid descriptions. Kept me intrigued from the first page to the last. Simply a GREAT read!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
This book was amazing and different that some of the others I have read by the author. But just as good writing, if not better. It has adventure, and just enough details and history but not overdone like a non-fiction account of an Egyptian dig. Looking for Cleopatras tomb so does encounter characters that keep you engrossed. Can’t wait for the next one!
Once again, Kristi Belcamino has done it. Written an exciting adventure with a strong, ethical hard-working heroine in Dallas Jones. She is an archeologist with a desire for all things Cleopatra. This book enthralled me from page 1 and I truly hope for more!!
This is an action book that keeps you guessing. It held my interest well. I wanted to finish it to see the outcome and was sad when I did get to the end. I am looking forward to the next book. I definitely want to read the next book in this series.
I don't understand how authors can publish a book that isn't complete without warning you about it. It is so frustrating to invest time in a book that has no conclusion. I won't be getting the next book.
A turn of pace for Ms Belcamino and what a turn of pace it is. Fast paced, edge of seat, page turner. The beginning of a new series guaranteed to knock your socks off. You go girl!
I was lucky enough to have gotten a ARC copy of this book. I am volunteering to leave this review. Awesome book plenty of action and suspense can not wait for more of this series.
This is a different type of story that the thrillers that Kristi writes. I am looking forward to these character's development and progress of this historical fiction.
