DC (Detective Constable) Rose Gifford is a young woman in her thirties still trying to find her place in life. Rose basically raised herself growing up in a very unconventional and unloving household. Rose lives alone but unfortunately her mother visits quite often although she is unwanted by Rose but her mother always has done whatever she wanted with no regard to Rose's feelings. Rose and her partner are called on the scene of a victim a woman apparently suffocated to death while being completely locked inside her room without any sign of forced entry. The police department wants to wrap the case up quickly until another body is found in the same manner.

DS (Detective Sergeant) Mooney from another police department wants to recruit Rose to her team for awhile since she sees some special talents that Rose herself is unaware of but Rose is very uncomfortable with their way of doing things and she doesn't want any part of this strange team but at the moment she doesn't have a choice in the matter since she is always putting her foot in her mouth and currently she is in the doghouse with her own captain plus she could be out of a job at any moment for causing unnecessary problems.

This was a very enjoyable and entertaining story revolving around a lonely and insecure young detective still in training. There is something very charming and sweet about Rose although she seems quite immature for her age but that is probably a result of her unhappy childhood. The book revolves about police procedural but it is very disarming in the way the story plays out. There are dark moments as well as many light and timely humorous moments as well. I loved the small department run by DS Mooney who is quite the character and I'm sure must have a very intriguing history behind her. I loved having a some paranormal aspects being brought into a police procedural process and I can't wait to read the next book in this new and extremely clever series. The book reminds me of a new and evolved UK "X-Files" story brought back to life except with a completely different cast of characters. This is what I'm hoping and have been waiting a long time for!

I want to thank the publisher "Harper 360 - Harper Collins" and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book and any thoughts or opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!

I have given this story a rating of 4 UNIQUELY DIFFERENT 🌟🌟🌟🌟 STARS!!

If you've never dared step into the realms of a supernatural thriller then Sleep Tight is a great place to start. This is one of my favourite genres, and the author has done a superb job. Don't worry about it going into the realms of fantasy, this is down to earth detective work with a dedicated department to investigating the dark side of crime. And don't believe it's not possible - when I was a serving police officer there were several jobs I recall in which the informants were told to receive "spiritual advice."

Sleep Tight is beautifully written. Just look at this excerpt: "First, coming into the pearly light of her bedroom, the familiar furniture appearing as dark, blocky shapes around her. Awake...it's just the sleep paralysis. It's not real. None of this is real. I'll wake up soon. Except..." Now if that doesn't make you want to read on, I don't know what will.
Open your mind and prepare for a journey with this suspenseful pulse pounding read.

Sleep Tight is the first in the DC Rose Gifford series. Rose is investigating a death of a young woman that has been killed in her bed from suffocation. But the last expression on her face is of real fear and Rose thinks that this death is not as straight forward as it seems.
During the investigation she meets DS Moody who runs a secret department of the MET call UCIT that deal with supernatural occurrences. She feels at home there, as in her own personal life she sees the ghost of her dead mother.
Thank you, Harper Collins, and NetGalley for a copy of Sleep Tight. This is a good and a unique start of a new police procedural series. The characters were great especially Rose who although has a complicated personal life puts 100% into the job at hand. I liked the storyline. I just thought that the supernatural element was a bit hard to believe and a bit disappointed with the ending. But saying all that I will look forward to seeing how this series develop in the future. 3.5 stars from me.

DC Rose Gifford #1 3.5 stars rounded up to 4

When DC Rose Gifford is called to investigate the death of a young woman suffocated in her bed, she can't help but feeling there's more to the crime than meets the eye. It looks like a straight forward crime scene - but the police can't find the killer. Enter DS Moody - an eccentric older detective who runs UCIT, a secret department of the Metset up to solve superrnatural crimes. Moody wants Rose to helop her out - but Rose doesn't believe in any if that.

This is the first book in a new supernatural crime series featuring DC Rose Gifford. Rose is a flawed character with emotional struggles. Theres a creepiness around this story and it's quite chilling to read. I was strangley intrigued in the plotline, i didn't think this was going to be my kind of book, but i was wrong. This made a nice change from the police procedurals i normally read. I will look out for the next book in this promising new series.

I would like to thank #NtGalley, #HarpecollinsUK #HarperFiction and the author #CSGreen for my ARC #SleepTight in exchane for an honest review.

I listened to Sleep Tight via Audible and what a treat it was. Essentially it's a police procedural series with a touch of the supernatural and, I suspect, a lot more of the supernatural to come in future books. The protagonist, police detective Rose, had a difficult upbringing and now shares her flat with the ghost of her grandmother, a woman Rose always viewed as a sham psychic. Rose sees things that aren't there but she's is deep denial about any gift she might have. She's far more focused on the crime she's trying to solve - the murder of a woman who suffered from sleep terrors, who dies in a locked house with no sign of a break-in.

There's a fantastic cast of characters in Sleep Tight and I particularly enjoyed Rose's visits to the secret supernatural branch of the Metropolitan Police, staffed by the straight-talking detective Mooney and stylish receptionist Scarlet. I had a lot of theories about how the dead woman was murdered, and by whom, but CS Green kept me guessing and kept me gripped. I can't wait to read the second book in the series and find out quite how spooky Rose's second case will be. Eerie, original and compelling, if you read it before bedtime you won't want to fall asleep.

A fantastic, unique crime thriller with an epic supernatural twist!

I’m going to be screaming from the rooftops about this brilliant book for some time to come! A crime thriller with a difference and what an original difference it is too!

DC Rose Gifford is determined to help catch the killer of a young woman, Hannah, who has been found suffocated in her bed, but with no sign of a break-in, this case might not be so straight forward. After speaking to the victim’s friend, Rose discovers that Hannah had been suffering terrible nightmares at the same time every night and would often wake up screaming as she thought someone was in the room with her. Someone tall, dark and menacing!

Kirsty is at work one day when she breaks down to a colleague about the fact that she is not sleeping well and that a dark figure who visits her in her dreams feels far too real for her liking. Concerned for her safety after the recent murder, Kirsty informs the police about her nightly visitor, in the hopes they’ll be able to help and not think she’s gone cuckoo! The police, unfortunately, don’t take her too seriously, will Kirsty become the next victim?

Could someone really be able to get to these women through their dreams? Or is it just a coincidence that they both suffer from a condition called sleep paralysis? We follow Rose on her quest to get to the bottom of this mystery with a spooky twist.

This book is so clever and so well thought out. From the minute I picked it up I knew it would be one that I couldn’t put down. It was also one of those books that I kept thinking about even when I wasn’t reading it! The twists were spectacular, and I honestly would never have guessed the outcome.

Rose is a character that I took to straight away, she is far from perfect and has many flaws but she is very likeable and I feel she is going to be my new favourite character from a book. I am thrilled to learn this will be a series and can’t wait to be reunited with Rose in the next instalment.

I love the way this book makes you think more about sleep and dreams and all things supernatural. I actually suffer from sleep paralysis myself, it can be really scary and many times I have seen tall dark figures in my room and even right next to my bed. Do we sufferers just have creative minds? Or do we have some kind of connection with the other side?!

Not many people can pull off a story like this, but Caroline has absolutely nailed it! Having been taught by her myself in a crime and thriller writers course, I can vouch for what an amazing writer she is and I know for a fact that she will have done an extensive amount of research to enable her to create this book and make it seem so realistic.

Fascinating, chilling and extremely addictive to read, do not miss out on this incredible first instalment from the DC Rose Gifford series.

Thank you so much to C S Green, HarperCollins & NetGalley for my copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Finished this book yesterday, and I still cant help thinking about this book. Wow.
Green leads you on an adventure into the mind, where even your own bed isn't safe.
The story starts with a woman who is a parasomniac, and setting about getting ready for bed. Haunted by dreams of a man in a balaclava, who wakes her every morning at 3am, she follows her routine and goes to sleep, only to find herself killed in herself . DC Rose Gifford and her colleagues are brought into solve the case, and it becomes apparent that this isn't a usual case.
This is a novel to keep you thinking and wondering. And it isn't your usual ghost story either.

It’s rare to find a truly original police procedural, but here it is! Eerie and tense, a locked-room mystery leads us into a world of supernatural crime detection, a kind of X-Files at the heart of the Met. A woman is murdered in her sleep--but how did her killer get in? Through the locked door or through her mind? Add a troublesome dead mother who won't let the past lie, and you have a very creepy mix. I'm glad to hear this is the first in a series as I want more chills from DS Rose Gifford and the secret spook police.

What a blinder of a book! I picked this up and was instantly drawn into a world of insomnia and sleep paralyse which thankfully I’ve only ever heard of, This book for me was a perfect mix of a paranormal, psychological thriller and police procedural novel, all in one. The book was great from the first page to the last with a few moments of audibly gasping for a breath along the way and I will very much look forward to more from this author, particularly if they contain DC Rose Gifford

This is the first book in a brand new series featuring DC Rose Gifford and it’s a belter of a read and one I flew through in just over a day.
It’s a police procedural with a a hint of the supernatural and I admit I was a bit hesitant at first but please don’t be put off by the supernatural element as it’s just a small part of the story and in fact I loved that it was so different and can’t wait for the next in the series.
I really liked the characters in the story they were all so beautifully written as was the whole of the book and with a fabulous plot line to boot it made for a brilliantly crafted read. I think my my favourite character was Rose Gifford who a troubled but likeable person but I also loved the weird and wonderful DS Moody who runs a hush hush department thats deals with crimes which are out of the ordinary.
The book kept me gripped it was different and that also made for a change from the straightforward police procedurals.
So a big Yessssss from me and roll on the next book and look forward to reading what more is in line for DC Gifford many thanks to CS Green for a great read.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I thought this was an excellent, well written, gripping thriller of a read.

Two police colleagues; DS Colin Mackie (Mack) and DC Rose Gifford attend a sudden death, which, upon closer inspection, is murder. The victim suffered from Sleep Paralysis ( a state, during waking up or falling asleep, in which a person is aware but unable to move or speak) and this fascinating subject forms the basis of the book. That, along with the fact that DC Rose Gifford seems to have an affinity with things 'beyond what is normal', She senses and at times sees things that others cannot. This creates an interesting spin on what would normally be a good police thriller / murder. However, with these interesting differences, this becomes a difficult to put down book and not one to read just before you drop off!

I enjoyed every minute and very much hope there will be more from Rose Gifford and her extra sensory perception. Excellent!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and HarperCollins for the opportunity to preview.

When I requested a copy of this book, I had no idea it was a detective novel. Ugh . . . police procedurals are not my cup of tea. Especially when they're part of a series. This one, however, had some aspects that I really liked. Supernatural, paranormal, ominous, creepy aspects. This could be a very exciting new series for readers of detective stories. It was certainly unique and refreshing.

I enjoyed this book, with this being a police procedural with a touch of the supernatural, it worked really well, all in all. I didn't like the character of Moony very much, I am not entirely sure why she had to be QUITE as awful as she was, to Rose.

Rose and her partner Mack are trying to solve a strange case - of a woman who died without anyone being able to figure out how someone got in to kill her. She was talking about feeling like someone was in her bedroom. And she is not alone. As Rose investigates, she comes across other women who are sure they are being terrorised, in their sleep. Sleep paralysis is a thing, and it sounds absolutely scary as!

Rose and Mack work very well together - Rose being newer to the police force and a little rough around the edges, and Mack who seems quite gentle and easy going, the veteran cop.

Looking forward to reading the second book, if and when I can get my hands on it!

Great book, 4.5 stars from me.

Rose Gifford and her colleague Mack are drawn into the case of a woman who apparently suffocated while in bed. We learn that Rose's grandmother haunts her home on a regular basis and Rose can sometimes see or sense supernatural events. However, this is played down in the book; almost too much, as if the author can't decide whether to write a thriller or a supernatural detective story.

Rose and Mack are convinced the death was not natural, and link it to other similar cases, where the victims had complained of sleeping badly and being visited by a dark shape in the night, despite no evidence of their homes being broken into.

The tale is interesting, but a little clunky in parts. The supernatural events are muted, although Rose is invited into UCIT, a secret police department that deals with such odd cases that cannot easily be otherwise explained, headed up by the eccentric DS Moody. Rose and Mack, and Moody and her team, have to draw together the strands to find out who is terrorising these women, and how.

I'd like to read more about Rose and her gifts, and appreciate that the author is playing down her supernatural gifts in order to maintain some plausibility, but they are a key element to the tale.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read of this genre. I have always steered away from supernatural books as I just didn’t feel I would be able to lose myself in them... well I was wrong! Having read many crime thrillers, this really gripped me and the supernatural aspect just gave it a brilliant spin on the norm. If you are in doubt about reading this as supernatural is not your thing... please give it a go, you may be like me and be a newly convert!

Three and a half stars rounded up.

My two favorite genres are police procedural mysteries and horror so I was super excited to find out that Sleep Tight was a combination of both -- a police unit dealing in crimes with a supernatural twist.

I enjoyed this just as much as I expected I might. There were some sections that felt like they dragged a bit which is understandable as this was the first in a series -- introductions need to be made and the scene needs to be set -- but all in all this was a refreshing twist on the standard serial killer mystery. I am wholeheartedly looking forward to the second book in the series which is due out this month.

I am so grateful to NetGalley and Harper360/Harper Collins for the opportunity to read and review Sleep Tight.

Even in your dreams you’re not safe…

The nightmare is only just beginning…

A woman found dead in her bed, clearly suffocated but her bedroom door was locked from the inside and there's no sign of forced entry, it's down to DC Rose Gifford to work out the how and why, but that's proving trickier than the team thought, so they bring in DS Moody from UCIT, a department which deals with supernatural crimes, Rose is very sceptical but needs to get on board before the killer strikes again.

Sleep Tight is a police procedural with a supernatural element, which delves into the realms of sleep paralysis and nightmares, it's a three way narrative from Rose, Kirsty and the perpetrator. The plot is well crafted, a tense read with a few twists along the way and I'm looking forward to seeing how this series will develop further, particularly Rose who is fighting a few demons of her own.

I'd like to thank HarperCollins and Netgalley for the auto approval, I will post my review on Amazon and Goodreads.

I was interested to see that this is the first in a series as our protagonist seems a very complex character and there is a lot to be unpicked and explored with DC Rose Gifford.

Parts of this book were shocking and frightening, particularly with the supernatural twist - I had no idea where it was going.

Young women are being seemingly murdered in their sleep but when the house is secure it cannot possibly make sense. This was an intriguing read and I look forward to more in the series.

Where to start? This book just gave me the chills, I can’t wait for more in the series. I found it to be totally gripping and I’m sure it will keep me up tonight ha! DC Rose Gifford is called to a number of deaths, of woman suffocated in their sleep, this is where the usual crime thriller stops, there’s more than meets the eye and I’m sure it will have you hooked just as it did me. Highly recommend.

As soon as I heard about a detective series with a ghostly element, I was like hell yeah I am there! It really didn’t disappoint! It had some really strong spooky vibes from the killer and Rose’s little friend. Some scenes just gave me the chills!

I really couldn’t work it out! It was super twisty and thrilling!! I loved the team and rank Moody high up there as a character to watch as there is so much more than meets the eye. Why is she so eager to get Rose on her team, especially when Rose doesn’t believe….does she?

I mean I am not sure I want to go to sleep again!!!!!!

It was interesting to see how the police handled this case, and how no one was interested until Moody came along, and then as you can imagine, things got intense and more intriguing! This unit is one I would love to join, I have no idea if it is a real unit in the police but I hope so. If so, where do I sign up!

The switch-up in narration always makes for a thrilling read, and it’s no different here. We follow Rose for the most part as we watch her adjust to the unit, deal with her “problem” at home and then flip to intense scenes with a victim, as we watch them unfurl slowly.

I absolutely loved the audiobook of this, and the narration was spot on. The chills! I just wanted to speed her voice up so I could race to the end of the book to find out what happens, but I was good…well, I got impatient and read the last 10% LOL

I loved every minute of this book! I really hope there is more to come as I think this is a series that will be awesome to follow! The writing is fresh and addictive and I love this concept that has been created.

A great read that I just couldn’t put down once I’d started it! DC Rose Gifford and her colleague, DS Colin Mackie (Mack) are called to the home of a woman, 32-year-old Hannah Scott, who has suffocated in her bed. Though murder seems unlikely and there's no sign of a break-in, something about the victim's death makes Rose feel uncomfortable. While her team struggles to work out how she, Hannah died, Rose soon finds herself dealing with matters that cause her unease, which also affect her personal life.

Sleep Tight is an attention-grabber from the very beginning with its super prologue. It's always good to dive into a new series from the first book and this novel is no exception to that. The story mostly follows Rose’s character, although some chapters switch to a woman who suffers from nightmares, as well as a few from the killer’s perspective.

This is an engrossing concoction of both crime and the supernatural. Rose’s character is one I immediately warmed to; she's not perfect and doesn't let people in immediately. She has made mistakes and found herself in some difficult situations. The investigation takes on an interesting supernatural twist when, during the investigation, Rose meets DS Moody who runs a secret department of the Met, UCIT (Uncharted Crimes Investigation Team) that deals with supernatural occurrences. She feels at home there, as in her own personal life she sees the ghost of her dead mother.

The plot is multifaceted, suspenseful and gripping and I was guessing throughout. There were interesting twists and revelations but I never figured out who the killer was, even though there were a few eerie chapters from the killer’s point of view. Caroline Green has shown great aptitude in executing this series début and the ending was fitting for the story. Gripping to the final pages, I’m keen to read the next in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from HarperCollins via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

This is the first book in a new series introducing D.C Rose Gifford. She is sent with her partner Mack to investigate the death of a young woman who had suffocated, but it’s not that straightforward as the door was locked from the inside and no sign of a break in. So if someone murdered her how did they get in and out?

We learn a bit about Rose and her childhood, raised by her gran who she called mum, but she claimed to have certain powers, to Rose she was a charlatan. But what if she did have some sort of gift and Rose has picked it up? because strange things do keep happening!

When another woman is attacked in a similar way the team start looking into it a bit more, Rose is introduced to a DS Moony from a unit called UCIT, a secret department run from a run down old building. But what does this team investigate?

I enjoyed reading this and getting to know Rose, she is quite a complex character, who doesn’t let anyone in lightly, mainly because of her upbringing, as well as things in her house that seem to go bump in the night or day. There is a supernatural element to the story. Rose clearly doesn’t get on with her boss Rowland and I think it will be interesting to see where she goes in the next book. I look forward to seeing her grow and to see what the author comes up with in book two.

The pace is fairly slow, but the plot flows well and all comes together neatly at the end. A book I know lots of readers will love a police procedural with some supernatural elements and a locked room mystery.

I would like to thank #HarperFiction for a copy of this book for me to read for the blog tour. All opinions are my own.

A psychological thriller with a touch of the supernatural...that was it, sold!

I was left feeling a little deflated, I love Ben Aaronovitch's 'Rivers of London' series; this was a female version similar to Ben's lead character.

It was very well written, I can't fault that, but it took me easy over half the book before I felt we actually started going somewhere & then it started picking up pace, full of twists & turns culminating in an ending I wasn't expecting.

I will read the next book in the series, as I'm disappointed with myself that I couldn't invest myself in it, these are two of my favourite genres after all!

'𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜'

When DC Rose Gifford is called to investigate the death of a young woman suffocated in her bed, she can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to the crime than meets the eye.

Welcome to my new favourite series; a hair-raising, scalp-creeping, thrill of a detective series with a whisper of the supernatural.

The case itself is disturbing and had me checking under the bed for unwanted visitors! The author manages balance the otherworldly with the earthly in such a way that mirrors Rose's ambivalence towards what is happening to her.Rose is a brilliant protagonist, she's dedicated to her job, but her unconventional personal life keeps throwing up complications that she cannot share with anyone. When the case she is investigating starts to overlap with her personal life things only get more complicated, and I am really looking forward to seeing how she reconciles this in future books.

My thanks go to the publishers and Net Galley for the advance copy in return for an honest review.

Sleep Tight follows DC Rose Gifford who is investigating the death of a woman suffocated in her sleep, while this is a horrible crime Rose can't shake the feeling there's some far more sinister occurring.

Soon Rose is introduced to DS Moody who runs a secret department that solves supernatural crimes. But Rose is in great denial despite the fact that she herself has seen things she can't explain.

After investigating the victim, it comes to light that the woman was a parasomniac, someone who has issues with sleep. She is haunted by a man all in black who stands over her bed at night and watches her before pinning her down! The victim suffers from sleep paralysis.
I particular found this part of the book creepy, as someone who has experienced sleep paralysis and my experience has too been a man dressed head to toe in black, this was especially disturbing to read. I had to make sure I didn't read this one before going to bed!

I do enjoy a good thriller, and when I saw this had a twist of supernatural to it, it definitely peaked my interest.
I enjoyed Rose as a character, she enjoys her job and puts all she has in to it. We see her struggle to come to grips with the supernatural stuff and slowly accept what she believes, I love that we get to see her open up a little more towards the end and start to make new friends.

This was an intriguing read and I look forward to more in the series.

Thank you Harper Collins & NetGalley for a copy of Sleep Tight.

This is a brilliant crime thriller.
It’s slightly different to your regular Police procedural but I really liked it.
Rose and Mack are called when a woman is found suffocated in bed, but it’s a mystery how the killer got in.
From their investigations they find out that Hannah was having trouble sleeping and kept having bad nightmares where a man in a balaclava was standing over her.
Another woman is suffering the same nightmare and the killer tries to suffocate her but is interrupted so Kirsty is able to tell them what happened.
Rose is approached by another Detective who has heard about the case and at first she can’t see how they can help, but soon realise there’s more to this case than meets the eye.
I loved Rose as a character and really hope there will be more books about her and her investigations.
Thanks to Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Well executed and unsettling locked-room crime thriller with a supernatural edge.

Rose Gifford had a deprived childhood, raised by her grandmother who worked as a medium. She is ashamed of her background and despises her grandmother's deception and anything to do with the supernatural.

When a woman is found suffocated n her locked bedroom, and another woman who had also been suffering from terrible nightmares is left in a coma, Rose finds herself investigating unusual territory.

A great read in its own right and sets the scene perfectly for what looks to be a chilling series.
