This wedding needs to be the event of the season. Unfortunately, the best man is doing everything he can to derail it . . .
Wedding planner Beth Shipley has seen it bridezillas, monster-in-laws, and last-minute jitters at the altar. But this wedding is different—and the stakes are much, much higher. Not only is her best friend the bride, but bookings at her family’s inn have been in free fall ever since an unfortunate food-poisoning incident. Beth’s got one chance to save her family’s business, and she knows she can do it. As long as she doesn’t let Sawyer Silva’s good looks and overprotective, overbearing older brother act distract her.
Sawyer learned firsthand that forever doesn’t last. So when his brother decides to race down the aisle with a woman he barely knows, Sawyer is determined to keep him from making the biggest mistake of his life. Yet the more time Sawyer spends around the passionate and hardworking Beth, the more trouble he has disentangling his feelings—about the wedding and the wedding planner. When Beth discovers Sawyer’s plans, can he convince her that his only real objection is to a future that doesn’t include her?
Something Blue by Heather McGovern Contemporary romance. Beth is a wedding planner for her family’s venue. Her best friends wedding could save the business unless brother of the groom has his way and has the whole thing cancelled. Sawyer believes that his brother’s fiancé is just out for a cash win. Working with Beth and getting to know her, the family and the fiancé alleviate his worries. But is it enough?
I enjoyed the interaction between Beth and Sawyer. But his trust issues almost ended everything. He had reasons, of course. Fortunately it’s a romance, so all ends well. 3.5
Thanks to @ReadForeverPub for a copy of this book. Opinions are my own.

Orchard Inn is THE wedding destination. However, I the location is operating in the red. Beth struggles to fix the problems so that her family business can start earning again.
In this touching story, Sawyer must work through his own angst in order to find what his future will be. Meanwhile, Beth may be frustrated with Sawyer for trying to throw things off track, but she can't help but to be drawn to him.
Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Something Blue is a charming, tenderhearted tale that transports you to the Texas Hill Country and into the life of the loyal, overworked Beth as she struggles to save her family’s inn, plan the perfect wedding for her best friend, and do whatever it takes to stop the groom’s older brother Garrett from ruining the upcoming nuptials with doubts, suspicions, and excessive pessimism.
The prose is smooth and light. The characters are fun-loving, hesitant, and protective. And the plot is a delightful blend of heart, humour, misunderstandings, family, friendship, tension, chemistry, awkward situations, taking chances, and finding the one.
Overall, Something Blue is an engaging, witty, cosy tale by McGovern that has just the right amount of emotion, passion, and drama to make this story a quick, easy, enjoyable read.
Thank you to Forever & Grand Central Publishing for gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to the publisher for my review copy. All opinions are my own.
Ummmm. Weddings. Yes ma'am. Sisters running a wedding business/B&B. Absolutely freaking yes. Grumpy cowboy. Like you even need to ask. This whole dang thing is my entire vibe. Sincerely.
I had so much fun reading this title. It was light and sweet. Loved it. Come to find out it is the first in a series. Oh yea. I'm there.
Now, I need to talk about something. I had this copy as an audio and a digital copy. I started it on audio. I put the audio down. Luckily, I had already fallen in love with the story and was fortunate enough to pick up the digital copy. I did not enjoy the audio. At all. Not at all. The narrator was not what this story deserved.
If I had to rate the audio on the audio alone...it was a dnf.
Something Blue by Heather McGovern is the story of Beth Shipley. Beth and her sisters have been trying to the family business going. Which as a wedding planner this coming wedding for Shelby must be successful. But Sawyer who is the future brother in law seems to think the wedding is a mistake. This was a cute, easy read. Loved it.
Not bad just ultimately not to my taste. Sweet, simple, and very Hallmark-movie. Too boring and generic, without layers and over in a flash. Mainly, it’s forgettable. I’ve seen many other great reviews though, so I’d really boil it down to a style that doesn’t work for my personal reading preferences.
Lately, I've been trying a bunch of new to me authors. Sadly so many of my favorite authors are either no longer writing or have changed genres and I don't care to follow them. So when I saw the cover of this book on NetGalley I thought it would make a fun summer read.
Heather McGovern is new to me author so I had nothing to go by for what type of writer she is. I do know I loved the cover of her upcoming book so I gave her a try.
Something Blue is a sweet romance between two people that didn't really plan to fall for anyone at the moment. One is doing her job and the other is watching everyone close to making sure no one takes advantage of his brother.
Let's start off with the fact that Sawyer was cheated on and ended an engagement because of it. He no longer trusts many women, or love for that matter. That sets up all the events of this book. Now saying that I will tell you I didn't for one-minute blame Sawyer for how he felt. The author keeps making you feel like his feelings are real. Then for everyone to turn on him for how he's feeling to me is just wrong.
I along with Sawyer saw all he saw and believed what he believed. Sadly he handled it nicer than I would have. I would have most likely called her out in front of everyone. But I'm not always nice.
Now I don't want you to think that I didn't enjoy the book because I mentioned how I felt Sawyer was treated because I did. I really liked the characters and how they acted with one another. When you read this you'll maybe understand why I felt what I felt. I loved Beth and her sisters. I felt for poor Beth after all that has gone wrong with their family business. She felt like it was all her fault when that's not really true.
As a couple, Beth and Sawyer are good together. They work. The only problem they have between them is the wedding and each of their feelings about it. Sadly that is a big issue but it does make for good reading. As a whole, this is a good story. One that keeps you asking the question, 'what's really going on'? Looking forward to the next book. Beth is struggling to find new business after a food poisoning incident at her family-run Inn. When her best friend, from college, asks her to host her wedding at the Inn Beth knows this is just the event to turn their luck around. Needing to book more events to ensure her family business can stay afloat Beth is determined to make this the wedding of the season, if not the year.
Just one year ago Sawyer was left heartbroken when he discovered his fiance had been cheating on him their entire relationship. Finding out the woman you love only wanted you for your name and money…hurts. When his brother announces his engagement to a gal he hasn’t been dating long Sawyer is determined to pump the breaks and ensure his brother isn’t on the same road to heartbreak.
Overall I found this story to be a cute love story between a wedding planner and the groom’s grumpy older brother who’s trying to call it off. There were a few elements that had me pause, if both characters were lifelong residents of the town how did they not really know anything about the other or have any previous interactions? I was getting the feeling this was a small town but it seems weird that, though their properties are close to each other, the Shipleys and Silva’s don’t previously know each other.
Without giving any spoilers I was also disappointed with the speed that the 3rd act conflict was resolved. I really would have loved to see more self-reflection and a bit more resistance to the resolution. Personally, I just found it resolved much faster than felt natural, at least in my opinion.
If you’re looking for a quick novel to read on the beach that’s sweet and funny you should give this book a go. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the series brings us in terms of relationships and shenanigans!
Beth Shipley and her sisters are struggling to keep their family business afloat after a disastrous food mishap a few months ago. Since the wedding of the season didn't go off without a hitch and they were to blame their bookings at their inn have started to slip, and things are starting to look grim for them. They could really use a miracle right now... and they get one in the form of a last minute wedding for a friend.
Unfortunately though there is someone that doesn't want this wedding to happen, and they will go to great lengths to stall it. Meeting Sawyer wasn't part of the plan when Beth signed on to host this wedding, but now that he is a part of it she can't imagine him not being around. And that fact scares her more than she'd care to admit!
Something Blue is a sweet and light-hearted romance that is certain to bring on a few smiles and leave your heart feeling a nice little squeeze! This one involves two people that are thrown together for the sake of a wedding, one wanting it to go off without a hitch to save her business, and the other wanting to save his brother from repeating his past mistakes. Beth and Sawyer weren't in the market for romance, but it found them between the pages here, and it's a lot of fun watching them handle this unexpected hitch thrown into their plans. As the story unfolds you will watch them battle one another at every turn and their hearts too! This was such an enjoyable first read, the words kept me captivated and the characters were likable and relatable. Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Wedding bells are ringing in this adorable romance! 💍🔔💐
Wedding planner Beth has a family inn that is faltering due to an unfortunate food poisoning incident.🥗 Her two sisters have rallied around her and the three of them know they need a plan to save Orchard Inn, their home and business. 🌸
Serendipitously, Beth’s friend Shelby has recently gotten engaged and needs her friend to plan the wedding of the season! 💍
Too bad the grooms’ protective older brother, Sawyer, mistrusts Shelby and is actively trying to derail the wedding. It gets even more complicated when Beth starts to enjoying spending time with the gruff cowboy. 🐎🤠
This was a really cute read, and I enjoyed the chemistry between Beth and Sawyer. They are both strong people and that gives them fiery chemistry. But they also genuinely listen and connect with each other, in a way that’s really sweet. 💕
Sawyer has some serious trust issues and needs to work through his past in order to have a potential future with Beth. He Is stubbornness might almost derail his brother Garett and Shelby’s wedding. But Beth won’t let that happen - I loved seeing Beth stand up for herself and for her friend.🙌🏻
I love a cute wedding planning story, and this book did not disappoint. 💕
✨Thank you to Read Forever Publishing and Grand Central Publishing for the gifted copy!✨
A wedding planner’s best friend is getting married and the only person who is hell bent on ruining it all is the handsome and charming older brother of the groom. Beth Shipley is a wedding planner and with her inn on the line if she can’t secure another job the opportunity to turn it all around comes when her best friend comes back into town and wants Beth to plan her wedding. Cue, Sawyer Silva, a dashing and protective older brother of the groom who thinks that Beth’s friend is not the one for his brother and that this wedding needs to be stopped. Sawyer has had his own mishaps with romance that have deeply impacted him so when his little brother rushes off to get married to someone that is questionable, Sawyer wants to make him see that this is not for him... except the more time he spends with the beautiful wedding the planner the more he is beginning to fall for her and open up his heart again. Throw in cute horses, wedding planning, secrets, and second chances at love and you get a charming story! I do adore a cute wedding planning romance and this one was just adorable.

This is a sweet beach read! If you are a fan of Hallmark movies, wedding planning, or horse ranches, chances are you will like this book. I’m a sucker for any book that involves a wedding, so I was drawn in by the plot pretty quickly. “Something Blue” is a fast, charming, wholesome read and it’s perfect for summer! Fair warning: you will likely be craving a big slice of peach pie by the end of this book. I will be definitely be googling peach pie recipes tonight.
What made this a three star read for me: Parts of the plot and narration in this book sometimes felt a little bit disjointed. The humor didn’t always click for me, and I felt like I wanted more to happen with the plot. I’m also a big fan of “show me rather than tell me” - style writing; I’d rather be able to see clear attraction between two characters during their interactions than read a very innocuous interaction and read about the characters’ inner feelings afterwards. That being said, this was an enjoyable read and is a good pick if you’re looking for something light and fun!

Beth Shipley is trying to keep her family inn running since a food poisoning incident has bookings dropping. She has the perfect chance when her best friend Shelby wants to use the inn to host her up coming wedding. This could be just what the inn and the Shipley sisters need. Everything is going according to plan until Beth meets the grooms overprotective and stubborn brother Sawyer Silva. He thinks his brother is rushing into the marriage and he is determined to put a stop to the nuptials. Can Beth convince Sawyer that Shelby truly loves his brother before he puts a stop to the wedding and tears both families apart?
I loved this novel by Heather McGovern. The characters were very well written, and the plot of the story had many funny and touching moments. I adored the Shipley sisters, and I am hoping that this is the first in a trilogy so that we get to see the other two sisters find their happily ever afters. Forever Publishing so kindly gifted me a copy of the book in exchange for my unbiased opinion, which I happily provided. If you like small town, family based romances, this is one you will not want to miss.
Beth's best friend is getting married and she's on a mission to make sure that the wedding goes on without a hitch. Unfortunately the soon to be brother in law, Sawyer, things something isn't right. After his own failed relationship he wants to protect his brother by proving that the bride is up to something.
This was a pretty enjoyable book. I liked getting to know the characters and what roles they play. I mean no only is Beth trying to make this wedding something her best friend won't forget theres also that hitch that happened in the past that makes her family inn's not so great. So hopefully this'll help her and her family out. Then theres Sawyers point of view where he is skeptical about love and wants prove to his brother that this match isnt the right one, they seems money hungry especially with the way the brides mother talks it just isn't right. I mean I can understand from his point of view being a protective brother but come on. Then theres the bit of romance brewing between Beth and Sawyer I enjoyed and overall this book actually turns out pretty good I really enjoyed it.
Something Blue is a romance story well-written by author Heather McGovern. Something Blue is installment one in the Orchid Inn series.
Something Blue opens with five members of the wedding party going to the hospital. Was it Ecoli from the salad Beth made? Also, the wedding planners were in the red. Could Beth get them back in the black?
Shelby Meyers recently became engaged and Sawyer was doing all he could to destroy the wedding plans. I enjoyed the bantering between Sawyer and Beth and think they seemed made for each other.
Something Blue would make a great beach read. I give Something Blue 4*/5*

Such a fun story! It has wedding planners, sisters, a best friend and a hunky cowboy who always makes way more trouble for himself than anyone should. Beth's best friend wants Beth and her sisters to put her wedding on for her on relatively short notice. The groom's big brother, Sawyer, isn't totally on board with the wedding. Let's be real here, he's totally against it because of his own past experience with a woman. It get's even more complicated, because he is very attracted to Beth, who is in charge of planning the very wedding that he wants to stop. Sawyer really is his own worst enemy. Beth is totally devoted to her friend and has trouble dealing with Sawyer's doubts and accusations. It may be enough to come between them for good, no matter how strong the attraction.
Thanks to Forever Pub for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
Something Blue has something for every reader. It has romance, oodles of it in fact, it has conflict, at the most in opportune times. It has family loyalty and support. It also has tons of wedding talk and preparation since that is what Beth does. Best of all it takes place in Texas and has a tall Texan who wears a cowboy hat in the middle of everything. Come to Texas where they grow hot men and know how to throw a wedding. I’m eager for the next book! Thanks to Forever and NetGalley for the advance read.
I freaking binged this. So so sooo good. I cried!! I havent cried reading a book in so long but this one did that for me. Grumpy/ sunshine Sisters running a business Cowboys.... 👀 Wedding planning Yes yes yesss. Heather put this story together so magically. I loved the bonds between all the siblings. Um Sawyer. Ohhh my Sawyer. I loved him. I loved how he spoke to his horses, how he treated Beth and how he opened up more and more throughout the book.
Thank you to foreverpub for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
I couldnt put this book down. I just wanting to know more and more. Three sisters are recovering from a diaster that almost made them loose their wedding business and inn. Beth's bestfriend Shelby announces she wants to have her plan the wedding at the inn and be her maid of honor. But Shelby's soon to be brother in law doesnt approve of how quick the wedding is or her. But their is chemistry between him and Beth. This book kept me on the toes. With the low steam, ranch life and horses. Plus Texas setting. Love of sisters and friendship.
This is the perfect Hallmark movie. It is obvious from the beginning where the story is going and that is the way it should be. The fun part is the journey! It is a very romantic read with a closed door - just how I like it.
The three sisters relationships are amazing and supportive. Owning a business together pulls each of their strengths to keep it going. Independent woman are always my favorite characters.
This is light, easy and quick paced - perfect for a summer read by the pool or at the beach.
This was really fast sweet read. It was a cute story but I will say the main woman annoyed me a bit. She just seemed so selfish. Sawyer has legit reason for worrying that Shelly was only with his brother for money but when Sawyer confronted her, Beth took it so personally and made it all about her. Yes, Sawyer did not handle it correctly, there were better ways to talk to Shelly, but damn Beth, he’s known you for a week and clearly has trust issues. There wasn’t a lot of drama and everything got cleared up nice and fast. This was a cute easy read even though Beth annoyed me half the time.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Something Blue is a cute story about wedding planner Beth and sassy older brother of the groom Sawyer, Beth is hoping to save her family's business, and Sawyer is hoping to derail a wedding. Who will win out? Will they work together to make the wedding perfect? This is a very cute, albeit predictable, love story.
Read if you love: weddings, wedding planner, grumpy,
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a sweet southern romance following a wedding planner and the brother of the groom who seems determined to throw a wrench in the nuptials. If you need easy summer reading, this is a great option for a cute story with a bit of enemies to lovers flair. Perfect for fans of hallmark channel movies.
I will say I listened to the audio and didn’t enjoy the narrators so recommend picking up the physical format.
Now, I know I'm in the minority with this, but hear me out:
It. Got. So. Boring.
I have a "bad" habit of never being able to put down a book or series. This book cured me of that. While the characters and setting were originally interesting, the main characters just ended up in a constant cycle of accusations, excuses, forgiveness, making out, and back again within 40 pages.
A sweet and charming romance. Clean, closed door, which I prefer. Many delightful moments for the various families. There were a few problems, too. Enjoyable reading. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.
The cute story was the perfect beach ride: engaging, but light enough not to interfere with the view. I felt like the romance was a little rushed – the MMC has trust issues that were glossed over instead of resolved.
