This was great. The long break between the volumes doesn't hurt this manga at all, you open the book and instantly get immersed in Yotsuba's world once again. While I feel that Yotsuba&! is gradually becoming less carefree and happy-go-lucky, whatever it loses in humour it gains in thoughtfulness. The subtle, underplayed emotional consideration of fatherhood and dealing with the growing up of one's children is spot on - as is the absolute pleasure of gathering smooth, shiny rocks on a beach :D

I think this might be my favourite volume to date!

Despite the years between publication, Azuma ensures seamless transitions of modern conveniences in the Yotsuba&! series. I read this the moment it arrived and it is full of the wholesome, heartwarming moments beloved in the series. I’m not crying, you’re crying (yes this manga literally brings me tears of joy and this volume did not disappoint).

No matter how shitty I'm feeling reading Yotsuba&! makes me feel just a little better and I always end up laughing out loud at least once.

This the first time I cried while reading Yotsuba&!, and the first time I see Mr Koiwai crying, too. I can't help it! I just can't help picturing Yotsuba as a grown-up later, and then Mr Koiwai watch her growing up. Is that how my parents feel when they watched me grow up?

Your way of parenting is splendid, Mr Koiwai. Despite your age and everything, you are a splendid father.

Now I wish to hug my father and mother...

The most wholesome series that I’ve read by far. That last chapter had me tearing up! I’m so excited that volume 16 was coming out in Japan soon!

The happiness of going into my local comic store and finding that after 3 years a new volume of Yotsuba, my nº1 comfort piece of media, has finally come out is unmatched by anything. I bought it in the same shop, and to the same lady that sold me the first volume 10 years ago. She recommended it to me back then, when I was 11, and we excitedly talked about this new volume and how happy we were about it (and how frustrating it's to have to wait so long for them). I am 21 now and I have grown reading Yotsuba. When I started reading it Fuuka seemed to me like almost a proper adult and now I see her as the 17 yo teen she is. Now i get to understand the occasional emotional bits a lot better. But the feeling of reading these mangas is the same as when I was 11. This new volume was a funny (I was laughing out loud by page 2), as comforting and as wholesome as all of them are. That last scene in the backpack shop... i did cry a little.

After three-some years, Yotsuba is finally back. This volume is as beautiful, and sweet, and cute, and hilarious as all the others, and tosses in some parent tearjerkers too. What a breath of fresh air.

The “Rocks” chapter is so quintessentially Yotsuba. I've never appreciated a series more than this one, this year.

Well what an absolute cozy read! The delight and wisdom of childhood and the bizarre mix of emotions of parenting all in one.

It's important to know where to find good rocks and what food your haircut pairs with!

Adorable and Informative of life in Japan.

Even though I don't remember the recent events of the previous volumes, I still remember enough of the series in general to jump right back in, as it's just slice of life. Things are happening! Yotsuba is getting ready for first grade! Everything is, as usual, very cute. I do have to wonder if the author is going to end it when she starts school, though. It seems like a good ending place, but also presents so many more possibilities that it would be great if he did continue.

[all the stars in the world]

it's insane how I've been reading this manga since I was in 6th grade and I still adore it with all of my heart.
also, definitely did not expect that heart-warming ending I cried a lot.
