A great second volume. Hood choice of stories. I really like that this volume is more from Kanan's perspective, for the first half of the book, and Ezra's more fir the second half.

This is a great telling of their story of accepting their roles a both teacher and Padawan. All the responsibilities, joy, despair, temptation, aceptance, failures and sucess this entails. The anime style artwork is awesome and fits the story perfectly. I can't wait for volume 3.

These and the upcoming event in volume 3 are what really made md a fan if the Rebels series. Till this point I though it was a but too kiddie, from this volume it became on par with Clone Wars.

The first volume of manga Rebels was so-so, but it hits its stride much more in volume 2. It's still just adaptations of TV episodes, but the pacing and tone are better. Ezra acts much younger here than in the show, but it basically works. This volume covers the Luminara prison trap, the first duels with the Inquisitor, the fyrnocks, Empire Day, Tseebo, and the beginning of Kanan training Ezra. Good stuff from the best Star Wars series ever.

This volume was much better then the first one, in my opinion. It felt a little more focused and the art style didn’t bug me as much (even though I still don’t really like it) and only a couple panels confused me in how to read them.

I love how in these volumes we’re focusing more on Ezra and Kanan and the Jedi stuff and really honing in on why Kanan is who he is now with some backstory we don’t get in the TV series. As Kanan is one of my favorite Star Wars characters I really liked the focus and deep dive into his thoughts and actions with Ezra.

I enjoyed this one much more then the first volume and look forward to picking volume 3 if my library gets it. Highly recommend checking these out if you love Rebels!

Content: violence, explosions, and fighting (nothing over PG); mild swearing; The Force is talked about and used; a character is shot and dies (off screen though we do see her hair and arm lying on the ground); a character falls off a ship but is fine; a coffin with a body inside; some creatures threaten and attack people

Love these characters so much! It is mainly about Ezra, with a lot of Kanan in this issue. You don’t see as much of the other members but I understand due to the media type

This was good but I think I’d rather just rewatch the show. Also on the blurb it says “Kanan’ old master” in reference to Luminara Unduli but she was never his master—it’s even stated in the manga that Kanan’s master was Depa Billaba like in the show.

I'm watching the show now, and I can see that this manga is a distillation and focusing of the series. It takes the parts that, I think, are compelling, ages up the art, and gets inside characters' hearts and heads a bit more. The show is, I think, more and more necessary to appreciate this manga, but I think I'll end up enjoying the story in this form rather than the animated one (I've never liked modern American animation - people move kinda...weird).

The second Manga book adapting episodes of the first season of Rebels, set 4 BBY.
Kanan finds his efforts to train Ezra as a Jedi impeded by his own lack of experience as a teacher, so when a rumour reaches the Ghost crew that Jedi Master Luminara Unduli is alive, they set out to rescue her from a secret Imperial prison. Ezra's path to becoming a Jedi Padawan is further challenged by his first encounters with the dark side of the Force, embodied by the ruthless Grand Inquisitor.

As with the first volume, it's nice to see some more attention drawn to the brilliant storylines of Rebels. Here we get a focus on the relationship between Kanan and Ezra, exploring how a mentor who never advanced beyond Padawan himself struggles to train a headstrong and wilful youth in the ways of the Force. There's a lot more focus on character relationships in this book than the last one and I certainly appreciated that.

My big problem with these Manga volumes, however, is that they just don't capture the feel of the show and, as a result, don't feel like the best adaptations.
To someone without my affinity for the TV series, this won't be a problem and you should really enjoy this book. For me, however, it just doesn't quite hit the right note, even if the Grand Inquisitor is made brilliantly terrifying here.

Volume Two of the Star Wars Rebels manga adapts episodes five, eight, and nine of the first season of the TV show into graphic novel form. It's been quite a while since I watched the show, so I can't speak to the beat-for-beat accuracy, but overall the feel of the story from the show is there. There's some liberties taken to fit things more to the Japanese comic style, but they're all understandable and work with the adaptation.

I enjoyed Mitsuru Aoki's artwork, taking the stylized animated look of the show and making it unique for this 2D medium. It has some distinct Japanese flourishes that help set it apart from the original and help bring the characters to life on the page.

Overall this is a fun continuation of Rebels adapted into a manga. If you enjoy that style of graphic novel and you like Star Wars, you'll have a good time reading it!

Heading into this knowing that there are only 3 Volumes is making me want to know where they stop in the storyline of the show...
Highlights:
- Ezra begins his Jedi training with Kanan. He's headstrong and brave, but needs self-control
- A distress signal is heard and the crew of The Ghost go to rescue Jedi Master Luminara Unduli. That turns out to be a trap set by the Grand Inquisitor to fight Kanan. Kanan and Ezra are able to get away.
- Agent Callus is looking for a escaped prisoner, a Rodian named Tseebo. Ezra recognizes him from growing up and helps save him despite wanting answers about his missing parents.
- During the events of the Volume, Ezra is able to learn both Force Push and Animal Control.

Onto to Volume 3. Maybe they'll start this back up with the Ahsoka show coming.
Recommend.

The real draw here continues to be that the art is very pretty. It's a little weird that it skips over anything that isn't a Kanan and Ezra centric episode, especially when the resolution of an episode hinges on something that happened in Hera and Sabine's episode, but I don't imagine many people are reading this without watching the show.

I enjoyed that we were more Kanan POV this time through, and there are some really nice moments of the crew together that aren't direct translations of on screen scenes.

I liked this one more than the first volume. again, still a fun book for kids getting into Star Wars, but it really started going in depth and flushing kanan out.
However I thought ezra was a little annoying in the show, and manga ezra is just??? Worse??? Idk
I /really/ like the art in this one. Especially with the inquisitor and all of the dark side pages, it really puts dark in dark side (🥁) not but seriously I thought it worked really nice and I like how kanan is drawn out in this volume, and his perspective.

Ha! I just praised the first volume in this series for taking Ezra's perspective, this one was a little more Kanan-centric, which is just fine because he's my favorite character. I think this one deviates a bit from the story in the animated series, but again I don't think it's too much of a stretch that it compromises anything. I won't spoil it here. Solid second installment.

My rating: 3.5 Stars

A decent manga (webcomic) adaptation of a handful of episodes in season one. I am intrigued by the decision to adapt these to this medium, and I find this a weird purchase considering they only ever adapted the first season (and a much-abridged version of season 1 at that). The art wasn't my favorite, but it is by no means a bad adaptation. I liked Vol. 2 a bit more than Vol. 1.

This installment in the manga series was pretty good, I liked it more than the first novel. As in the first volume, plot is definitely simplified and changed but it's still good.

Continues to present rebels with a new coat of paint, give it some more intensity and humour when needed, and make Hera absolute best girl in the process.
