On Thin Ice

by hipstateasee

After his religious mother kicks him out for being gay, Elijah Ellis moves in with his father, where his step-mother, step-brother, and half-sister also welcome him.

Elijah aspires to continue doing what he loves and play hockey for his new school, but his past hookup with the closeted hockey captain, Fox Ridley, complicates things. While Elijah just wants to get through the season unscathed, Fox is hellbent on hating him.

Elijah is unsure whether he will ever overcome Fox's hatred, or if he will remain on thin ice.

Enjoyed it!

Hello I remember reading this in Wattpad ages ago XD

[Meghan H]

I love you, Carter, but the number of times I said "what in the wattpad" while reading this was high. At least it was fun and entertaining in a guilty pleasure sort of way.

And with that, my 2025 book club reading challenge is completed!! 🥳

This was a DNF… and i really tried it was sooo long, slow, I think it was a high school kid writing so I kinda feel bad for the bad review but wow this was a pass

dare i say it was my heated rivalry before heated rivalry?🙂‍↕️

on thin ice is one of hipstateasee's best works in my opinion & even though i've fallen for all her characters, fox & elijah and landon & wren will always have a special place in my heart.

i've read and reread their story multiple times & i just can't get enough.

elijah was lucky to have a loving family after his birthgiver threw him out and i'm sad it's not the reality for every mistreated queer kid in our world.

4* in like, Wattpad ratings.
This book gave me literal butterflies—it wasn't boring, it was just the angst I needed. Literally the only thing I didn't like was the ferocity of the enemies to friends to lovers shift. Just wished it was slightly longer of a slowburn. Loved it tho.

I would give my life for this book

det va ein klassisk wattpad bok, så liksom 4 stjerner i wattpad skalaen
side characters va det som kept me going (typ: ian, ryan, josh, LEO (faren t fox), mindy) and so onnnn
og glory at de sa the truth i slutten mtp at de faktisk hadde møttes før skolen 🙀
