Akken Chronicles #4
The Hidden
In Veronna, they tell children about the faceless things that walk the tunnels unseen and take people the city won't miss. Nobody tells the children the stories are true.
The tunnel-city runs on perpetual winter, five Houses, and about fifty laws, and it is quietly getting ready for a war with Akken. Parn Trippers, jobless, friendless, and a very long way from home, is exactly the kind of loose end the Houses like to collect. The most cheerful spy in the five Houses just arrested him. To lunch.
Vani Brattle would rather be anywhere else. When an audience before the Veronna Council goes badly wrong, the strongest mover alive becomes the most wanted woman in the city. Being wanted by the Houses, it turns out, is survivable. But down in the dark under the mountain, something that shouldn't exist has started to Give us the girl.
War is coming. An unseen telepath is pulling strings in two cities. And the Hidden are done being a story.
For readers of Patrick Rothfuss and Mark a dark, immersive world where every city is a secret, and every secret has teeth.
The Hidden is Book 4 of the complete nine-book Akken Chronicles. No waiting. No cliffhangers left hanging. Nine books and a world worth losing yourself in.
