The sequel to front-running bestseller Good Things Come!
With success comes opportunity.
The Canadian Triple Crown is on the line, and Chique’s back to her old tricks, leaving her trainer, Liv Lahcance, and jockey, Nate Miller, scratching their heads in frustration.
Figuring her out – for now, anyway – earns Nate the chance to ride in California for the winter. It means being apart from Liv and Chique. Is he sacirficing his tenuous relationship with Liv for his career? Ambition isn’t sitting easy when it means risking everything he’s ever really wanted.
While Nate struggles to get a foothold at Santa Anita Liv throws her focus into Feste, Chique’s full brother and heir apparent to the scrappy filly. But Chique will draw Liv and Nate together again – just not in a way either of them imagined, and it just might tear them apart.
After many years of working at the racetrack, Linda now manages a small herd of retired racehorses, who usually give her enough time off to paint and write. She lives on a small farm in Southern Ontario with the horses and her Border Collie and is best known for her art, which can be seen at www.lindashantz.com
I think putting out a sequel is a scary thing. How do I follow a book that's been as well-received as Good Things Come? Like Nate says to Chique's little brother in this new book, "You've got big shoes to fill." Now I get to wait and see if you think I did a good job.
So glad to share our favorite characters struggles with surprising twists and great challenges to overcome . This sequel is just as captivating as Good things come , great read reminiscing the best days of Canadian racing particularly when real life racing in Ontario is facing unprecedented challenges . Hope the story will continue on !
The sequel does not disappoint. Racehorses and characters to root for, even when sometimes you want to smack 'em! Linda brings you right into the world of thoroughbred racing, with all of its very unique vocabulary and traditions. A great summer read for those of us who never outgrew our love for horses, and like our horse books with a little human drama thrown in.
Having breezed through the previous books in this series, All Good Things was a bit of a sucker punch. I didn't see any of it coming and was holding my breath until the end.How do we recover our purpose after tragedy? How do we find our center in chaos. And horse racing is such a hard profession with so much tragedy amidst triumph... a big, sometimes hard read. Thank you.
Highlights: ⭐️ Almost every time I would go to put this book down, something would happen and I would have to know what happened next 😅 I’m 💯 here for the twists and turns, so that aspect made me enjoy this book all the more! ⭐️ It’s been fun getting connected with the horses in this series as well as the people. Though there were some heartbreaking moments in this installment, I still enjoyed the story. ⭐️ Nate is 😍 He has some tough things thrown at him in this book, but the struggles he went through felt very real. ⭐️ Liv had her own demons to battle too. I honestly love a good “will they/won’t though”, so even though she and Nate have had their ups and downs, I’m enjoying every piece of it.
I have to admit I was wondering how the sequel would go...it didn't disappoint with many twists and turns. It was great to see how the main characters handled new challenges, and, for me, reading a story with a horse racing background, never gets old. The racing background story is complete with the high highs and low lows that the sport brings. The only frustrating part for me was how hard-headed the main character, Liv, is. I wanted to put my reins in a cross and bop her over the head with an attitude adjustment!
Another chapter in the lives of the triple stripe family. With all the ups and downs, this book has you cheering, sobbing, and praying right up until the final word. A page turner that even on my second time reading it, knowing full well what happens, I still couldn’t put it down. Linda Shantz has done it again!
This is such a great book! It is brilliantly written and captivating from cover to cover. It made me laugh, it almost made me cry and I loved it. Highly recommended!
