Moon Ballad is for you and the moon because it has never left my side and waited for me gently, with unwavering patience. These poems can be your bandage and your hurting heart will know that it is not alone. Instead, there’s a poet sitting on his typewriter, burning his nights away and fading to oblivion but leaving behind manuscript after manuscript with odes to you and ballads to the moon. This book is an escapist's journal, his refuge and his contemplation. Filled with poetry which transitions from heartbreak, sadness and forlornness to revolt, rebellion and dreams, Moon Ballad is as personal as it gets.

Beautiful poetry! Nothing like modern, trendy write ups! Recommended to all those who appreciate thoughtful poetry and notions which instil contemplative reveries.
I feel honoured to live next to a friend, intellectual challenger and poet. This review won't be a typical one since my actual gratitude will be given face to face. Ali's pages convey emotions of hurt, hope and pain, joining into larger themes of war, family and loss. He invites us into the world of a poet, sharing his personal journey as one to turn to in times of loneliness and sadness. Friendly pages to invite contemplation in the mundane. The strength of this collection lies in the lyrical treats, either slowly built up towards the end of a poem, or head-on at the start: "and this city/ does not take kindly/ to madmen", "Lord save this drowning day/ from the heat of this woman/ burning lilies/ an orange butterfly's tear", "flailing between/ nothingness and everything/ this forgetful abyss/ where all my poems go/". This poet - because he very much is - paints the world in shades of black and smoke, cut through with shades of red and orange conveying feelings of hope, despair and aggression. Do yourself a favor and get to know my wonderful friend. Excited to see what he will publish next.
