Being a runaway bride wasn’t part of my life plan… Running into a hot dragon doctor wasn’t either. I ran from the life that I’d built with my werewolf ex-fiancé. He just didn’t seem right… something about him was off. But when I met an alpha doctor, things felt right. He was everything I was looking for. Irresistible, kind, a doting father. I’d always wanted kids… and that picture-perfect family was being handed to me. Except that the family seemed too good to be true. I didn’t know his real identity when he hired me as the new nanny. I also didn’t know that my past was going to come back to haunt me. Turns out my ex-fiancé wasn’t done with me. He was after my life, the need for revenge in his soul. I could handle the danger. But I couldn’t handle the secrets. How could I be in love with a dragon? How was I going to continue caring for his children? My picture-perfect family was crumbling… and there was a chance that I wouldn’t make it out alive to put the pieces back together.
Each book in this sexy-as-sin series can each be read as standalones, and has no cliffhangers, but are best read in order.
Whitney Jacobs was telling Vince, her wolf-shifter fiancé, that he lied to her and she would not be going through with their wedding next week. He didn’t like kids, never had, and didn’t want any. To Whitney, that was a deal-breaker. She also learned he didn’t love her. He would have been a good husband, he said, then would have replaced her when she got older. There was no anger, just stating facts. She looked back as she left and he had no emotion at all on his face. At home, her non-emotional parents said it was good to find out now, then went back to what they were doing when she had walked in the door and told them the wedding was off. She needed a job and to find a new place to live… obviously.
She had her yearly physical with a new doctor, Dr. King Rutland, who had taken over her old doctor’s practice. After her exam, she asked if he knew anyone in the building who was hiring. When she said she loved children and had a degree in childhood development, he offered her a job as a nanny for his 7-year-old children, Mallory and Murphy, since both children liked her. When Whitney packed and arrived at King’s house early, as he had requested, she heard Mrs. Barton call the children names and was making Mallory cry. She also was insulting when Whitney walked into the room. When and Whitney argued about how she treated the children, the woman smacked her across the face. Whitney didn’t hit back, but told the woman to leave right then.
Apparently Vince, Whitney’s ex-fiance, worked for the bad guys and he was told to order a hit on her in case she may have heard any of his phone calls. Her life was now in danger. Even the children could be in danger. But even the hitman said that if she is a nanny for a dragon, then he refused to kill her. Dragons were territorial and would take out anyone who tried to hurt what was theirs. Would Whitney be killed before she even knew she was a target? Would King protect her? Did she even know he was a shifter?
This is so exciting when King shifts to go after the wolf shifter who is after Whitney. Grab your copy and find out if he is in time to save her.
I liked that the world in this story has shifters (all kinds) more acceptable, but still "hiding in plain sight". A quick story, with likeable (and despised) characters, and although a HEA, it still has hints of a story that has you wanting to read the next book.
Whitney Jacobs knows she's right to tell her wolf shifter fiancé, Vince, she's not going to marry him 1 week before their wedding. Even more certain he didn't lover her when he's not that upset when she tells him reasons & deal breakers, both that are interesting. Now needing to find a job & move out of her parent's home is next move. How she meets & ends up working for Dr. King Rutland is interesting.
Dr. King Rutland, a dragon shifter, just took over a retiring doctor's office & patients, most never notified until they showed up (that's not realistic, but okay). Walking into Whitney's annual exam starts a relationship that will far exceed doctor/patient. He offers being a live-in nanny for his 7-year-old twins, Mallory and Murphy, to replace Mrs. Barton who he's always considered temporary. Especially since that take to her immediately.
Enjoy reading how their relationship evolves among the turmoil of a unstable Mrs. Barton, multiple attacks and danger that might lead to Vince, and what he's involved in, and the order of the shifter world. As well as them fighting fate and their feelings for each other.
Enjoy.

Whitney breaks up with her fiance Vince when she becomes aware that he is not going to let her have children, only wanting her as a trophy bride. When she inquires whether her doctor knows anyone who is hiring he tells her he needs a nanny. She meets his children and takes the job.
Vince, it turns out, is into something illegal and his boss decides that Whitney may know too much and she will have to go. He sends her a cryptic warning, but no details. There seems to be a lot of people out to get Whitney. From the former babysitter who Whitney called out for mistreating King's children, to a wolf shifter who breaks into the house twice trying to get to her. The second time it happens, King is home and shifts into his dragon form to chase the wolf. Whitney was falling for King, but finding out he is a dragon shifter may be the end for the couple.
There is a bad-guy thread in this book that will surely continue on through more books as there are still loose ends to tie up. King's wife died mysteriously, as have several others that had some tie to the building where his practice is located. Stay tuned.

This book is awesome and I loved it! The first book in what promises to be a very exciting series, this book is a definite must read! Whitney breaks off her engagement with Vince, a wolf shifter, when he tells her he doesn’t want children. Her next step has her looking for a job and she finds one, as a nanny for her new doctor, King. He is a dragon shifter and has lost his wife. Whitney gets along amazingly with his twins and soon, feelings start to develop between the two. But there is trouble on the horizon as people Vince work for tell him Whitney needs to die as she may know too much. He doesn’t want her hurt but has no choice. Another wolf shifter will try but fail and soon Vince finds out he has to do it himself. He will injure King and head for Whitney but will fail in both cases. King will chase him and when he figures Vince is no more, he will head home. Whitney and King will get to move forward with their happily ever after by getting married and starting a new family together.

This is the first book of this series and in this universe Shifters are of common knowledge and accepted and looks like they are not Immortals. In this book we meet Whitney and King. King is a widower doctor that needs a nanny for his twins son and daughter and Whitney have just ended her relationship with her wolf fiancé when she discover that not only he don't wanted kids but that he didn't love her and just wanted a trophy wife. They never tell you what kind of doctor he was but I think he was general medicine so there is an awkward scene in the beginning. So she ends working for him. There is action, romance and intrigue my only complaint is that they leave somethings that they didn't explained. So maybe that mystery will be revealed in other books plus even in "THE END" didn't make too much sense. In general this is a nice story and a good beginning for a series.

This storyline had me glued to the pages, right from the start. King is a doctor with twins and Whitney has a degree in child development. She just left a relationship with a wolf shifter who did not want kids... and was part of a crime syndicate, but she did not know that. King offers her a job as a live in nanny. Suspense hits as the ex and his group want to silence her in case she knows something about them. No one messes with a dragon though and King will note mess around. Whitney will not either as they prepare for the final battle. Loved the closeness the family forms and the strength they have to protect each other, even the young ones. Can not wait to read more by this author.

Whitney Jacobs has just ended her engagement to werewolf Vince. She realizes their life goals do not match. Shifters have been a fact of life on Earth for quite awhile, but, as a human, Whitney still is unsure about them. But now Whitney's on her own. She must find a job, move out of her folk's house and be on her own. Coincidentally, Whitney meets Dr. King Rutland at his practice, as his patient. And, by happenstance, interviews to become the nanny for his twin children Murphy and Mallory. Little does she know the true nature of his family. Things go awry and it's hard to tell who is after who and why. Makes the story interesting and provides serious twists. Well plotted, great characters and fun turns in the plot make this a fun read.
Awesome story about a dragon daddy and a runaway bride
King is a doctor and a dragon shifter with twins a boy and a girl named Murphy and Mallory. Whitney broke off her wedding with a wolf shifter named Vince. King hired Whitney as a nanny for his twins.
However, someones wants Whitney dead. What is happening?
The interplay between Whitney and her new family brings out the personalities as loyalty, all the normal emotions, and love. This fast paced drama has a twist of mysteries of seemly related deaths but isn't solved in this book. I like this story about dragons showing the peaceful side despite being at the top of the food chain.
We have a little mystery, some heartache and of course love. Whitney has broken up with Vince just before their wedding. Now she is need of a job so she can move out of her parents house. Unexpected to her when she goes for her checkup, she is surprised to see a new doctor. She asked if he knows about any job openings and well he makes a suggestion. Now she is his nanny, but it don't stop there. She has some psycho's after her and she don't know why? Will she be able to keep the nanny job? Will these people get her? What will King her new boss do? Fire her? Keep her? Only time will tell.

This is the first book in a brand new series which was a enjoyable read and a interesting story about Whitney and King. Whitney is getting married to Vince in a week and she brings up wanting kids during a conversation. During their talk Whitney finds out that Vince doesn't want kids which is a deal breaker so she breaks off her engagement with him. Whitney going to her yearly physical meets her new doctor King. Whitney asks King if he's looking or he heard anyone hiring because she needs a job. King hires her as his nanny for his twin kids and while working and taking care of the kids the attraction blooms, but there's danger threatening them. Will King protect Whitney and his kids?
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Dragon Daddy's Runaway Bride by Serena Meadows is the first book in her Runaway Dragon Mates series. A great read that is action packed with lots of drama, bad guys crawling out of the woodwork, romance, spicy heat and dragon shifters. Whitney is trying to get her life back on track after leaving a fiancé that only wants a trophy wife. King is a doctor and dragon shifter in need of a nanny. When this pair come together chaos ensues. Something more than a vengeful ex is out to get Whitney. Will King be her salvation or something else to run from?

Who are Vince and Whitney? What are they? What is the heavy topic of conversation right at the beginning of the story? What happens when Whitney goes home? Who is King? How does Whitney know or meet him? Who is the old broad and what stunts does she pull on Whitney with King's children as witnesses? Who is Chuck? What happens when Vince goes after Whitney? What happens when she finds out what King and his children are? Oh, this was a heck of a start to a new series! I cannot wait to read more! Read and enjoy!

Whitney breaks off her engagement to Vince a slightly shady wolf shifter, just a week before her wedding, when she finds out he does not want childrenn and really only wants her as a trophy wife. She finds a job and new love with a dragon shifter, who is looking for a nanny. Fairly typical, but athe story is made interesting by Vince's mafia-like boss, that she poses a threat, now that she is not with Vince any more and puts out a hit. The book keeps the reader on their toes with multiple attacks, but interspersed with funny or romantic scenes - in short a romantic thriller with a touch of fantasy.. Whitney was suppose to marry Vince but then decided to break up with him because she new in her heart that he didn't love her. Whitney needed a job so she took one a nanny for king's two children. When he offered her to come by his place for a job interview the kids liked her very much. Whitney was attacked by the old babysitter. Whitney's ex was leaving vague messages. King tried his best to not have feelings for Whitney. He felt bad for not telling her his secret but man when she finds out neither are happy. I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the storyline and plot. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Enjoyable romance between Whitney and King Rutland. Whitney has just given up marrying her wolf shifter fiance as she realized he didn't love her not did he want a family! As fate would have it, she was offered a job as a nanny for the children of her doctor. Whitney immensely enjoys the two youngsters, Mallory and Murphy. She also admired her employer. Then strange events begin happening! Why are burglars breaking into the house at night? Why does Whitney receive a warning that someone wants her dead? Most enjoyable romance and adventure! Highly recommend to everyone!
A week before the wedding Whitney ends things with her wolf shifter fiance. After seeing her doctor for a check up she asks if he knows if anyone is hiring. Her doctor said he is looking for a full time nanny and asks if she will come to his house that evening for an interview. After being hired by the doctor Whitney falls in love again. But people want her dead and it will take everything the man she loves can do to protect her. This is a great story and I look forward to reading more from this author.
I enjoyed this book immensely I was hooked from beginning to end, the storyline flows so well, and the characters, including the children, are all wonderfully well-drawn and interesting. I loved the dynamics between the children and their dad and how well Whitney fitted into the mix. I'm trying to write a non-spoiler review of the story so don't want to say too much but Whitney’s ex-fiancé and her new boss, as well as a crime syndicate, add to the excitement of the story.
So if you love shifters, wolves, dragons etc don't miss this one.
Yes leave your fiance on your wedding day when you finally find out what type of person/shifter he really is. He doesn't love you, don't want kids, isn't your true mate and only wants you to show you off as his prize. Now needing a job, she gets hired by a doctor that has three kids that need a nanny. Things are hot between these two. Things feel perfect, she feels. But the question is, does it feel so right that it is going to last between them? Can she and he fall for each other?

Dragon Daddy’s Runaway Bride is filled with excitement and intrigue. Serena Meadows wrote a wonderful story. Whitney Jacobs and Dr. King Rutland meet when Whitney goes in for her yearly check-up. Whitney is job hunting and asks Dr. Rutland if anyone is hiring in his building. Which leads to Whitney being hired to take care of Dr. Rutland’s children. Whitney and King felt an instant attraction. Will true mates be found? How does Dr. King Rutland’s kids feel about Whitney?

There were so many things I did not like about this book. For a shifter series you really expect the shifter to have abilities beyond just being able to shift but these dragons don't appear to have excellent sight or healing and that's just the first thing that bugged me. There is some background story of crimes being committed that seems to run from book to book but there is not much revealed in this book to keep you interested in book 2... I will however read the next book to see if the story improves.
This book is action from start to finish, absolutely brilliant story. I loved Whitney and King in their pursuit of who was trying to hurt Whitney. From the old babysitter to the hired man to Whitney’s ex-fiancé. There is some spicy moments between these two characters and some tender moments when Whitney discovered that King is a dragon shifter and his two children. But love won out in the end and they have a happily ever after for now.

After calling off her wedding and moving into her childhood home, Whitney knows that she needs to find a job and a place of her own. While visiting her doctor, King Rutland, she tells him she needs a job and he hires her to be nanny to his children. The story keeps you turning the pages with love, suspense, danger and action.

I absolutely couldn’t put this book down once I started it. So captivating! I loved the kids and their dad. Whitney was made for them! Without giving the story away, it involves Whitney’s ex fiancé, a wolf shifter, and her new boss, a dragon shifter. Throw in a crime syndicate and you have a fantastic read!

Whitney leaves her fiance when she finds out who he really is and that leads her to getting a job with King. This book has suspense because of all the things that keep happening. I loved that Whitney is the nanny for King and along with that they both start having feelings for each other. This book had me turning the pages to see what happens next.

Though it took me some time to get thru this book, I'm glad I had the opportunity to read it. J.L. has done another wonderful job with this book. Keeping you in suspense while giving you the love and affection each character exhibits. She has reaffirmed her place as my favorite author.

this was interesting but I honestly wish they had gone more into detail with the doc and nanny getting to know one another. It seemed like instalust, which I get, but then all of a sudden they were in love while he still hadn't even told her he was a dragon. The book starts with her breaking off her engagement...how did it get to that point? How did the two meet? And then after breaking off a year long engagement she is in love with the doctor in what seems like five minutes. Needed way more fleshing out.
DNF - quit at 25% While the blurb held promise, the first 25% just didn’t pan out for me. The flow is slow, the world building isn’t there to ground a reader into the story, & the characters are flat. The story also feels predictable. Nothing to inspire me to want to keep reading.
At my age (approaching 60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
