Seventy-seven years ago, the United States unlocked the key to defeating the Axis powers, but, in their desperation to end the war, created a far more powerful threat: ENIAC (Electronic Numerator Integrator and Computer), the world’s first supercomputer. ENIAC's calculations proved vital to turning the tide against Germany and Japan – until it ordered the second atomic bomb to be dropped on Nagasaki without any human order or approval. America had inadvertently created the first artificial intelligence without ever realizing the full extent of its abilities...or its ambitions. For the more than 50 years that followed, ENIAC manipulated global affairs from the shadows, waging a cold war that pitted spy against spy, nation against nation...until it went dark and disappeared from view. Now, years later, an encrypted countdown has just been detected in Earth's satellite network and mankind only has three days left before ENIAC executes its endgame. With few options and even less time, the Secretary of Defense has just given two covert operatives the most important mission in human history: kill ENIAC…before it kills us.

A pretty fun spy story for the most part. There’s also 4 backups here, all set in the world of Hero Trade. They are, as expected from Matt Kindt, pretty fantastic. Hero Trade is one of the cooler superhero concepts as well, and short stories are the perfect format for it.

Backups for each issue (rated out of 5)
1. Hero Trade: A Brief Case - 3 1/2
2. Hero Trade: Hero For Sale - 5
3. Hero Trade: Fabulous - 4 1/2
4. Hero Trade: The Bloody Mess - 4

This was pretty incredible!

I felt the premise was original and the plot managed to surprise me at the end, I thought I knew where it was going but there was a twist and it was great, greater than what I anticipated.

Falk and Fetcher don’t exactly stand out as protagonists but this isn’t meant to be rich in characterization, Matt Kindt uses every page of his four issues to deliver this fast paced and engaging page turner of a story and does so with gusto!

The artwork by Brathwaite is great and on par with what I’ve come to expect of him based on his Valiant work. Overall it’s great to see these two Valiant alums back together and making magic again!

Read the singles as they were coming out. This started off great. Really cool concept, good pacing and suspenseful build up. I was really into this. Problem for me was the ending. Kind of unfulfilling. Once of those ending where as it was happening, I predicted what would happen. I guess I wanted more for the ending since I was so into the story.

This one kept me guessing.

In our attempt to predict when the next war will be, we accidently created a super computer that decides for us. The world is being held hostage but no one knows it. A super computer is threatening to unleash the worlds nukes unless we give it what it wants. But what does it actually want? No one can tell! This series kept me guessing and honestly, I wasn't mad with how it ended. I know a few people are mad about Bad Ideas exclusivity, but if you get a chance to read this one, I say go for it!

Does anyone still think that feeding raw data to a computer makes it smarter?

The comic has an alternate history where the development of ENIAC by the US during WW2 led to the creation of a deadly machine. It helped develop the atom bomb, but then went AWOL. It ordered the bombing of Nagasaki, decades later infected the network connecting the US, Russian and Israeli nuclear bombs, then made the internet its home.

Two highly effective ex-special ops agents - Olivia Fletcher and Allison Falk - are secretly sent by the US Secretary of Defense James McLeary to handle the most recent situation. They must recover a device that can destroy ENIAC who has started a countdown of 3 days. It's assumed that a bombing will be triggered at the countdown's expiration, one that will destroy humankind. The mission starts off on the wrong foot because ENIAC knows thay are after it, but the two agents are too determined to quit.
