The White Rose marches for war. The angels will weep, the devils will cry, and mankind may die.

Callie Penrose wields the Spear of Destiny and wears Envy’s Halo—the corrupting power of darkness balanced by the legendary blade of light. Both fight for dominance of the White Rose, but which force will win? Her best friend, Claire, has been abducted or killed, and her only surviving family has been ritualistically murdered to hide the truth of the Divines and the Sev’n Most Sinist’r.

Heaven has deemed her a criminal and Hell begs her to be their queen or die.

The Vatican is preparing to march on the City of Fountains to defend mankind against the horrors of the White Rose, the new Master Dracula, once and for all.

The answers to her past—and mankind’s future—are hidden deep within Solomon’s Temple, locked away for very good reason. Callie will have to face some dark, painful truths to bring harmony to a world gone mad. To discover why Heaven and Hell are so eager to bring her under their control.

But the Horsewoman of Despair is not alone. The Horseman of Justice and Absolution ride to Kansas City to lay waste to her foes. Three of the Dread Four will march against the forces of Heaven, Hell, and the Vatican.

And Kansas City is not the only battleground. The Garden of Eden is in grave peril, and no one knows if Callie is the danger or if she’s the savior.

After all, how good can Master Dracula be? The Halo Breaker rides a path as thin as the edge of a sword, and even she doesn’t know what is right or wrong.

But that’s what family is about. Getting into—and out of—trouble.

Let’s just hope the city can survive. Let us pray that the Garden of Eden will thrive.

The flip of a coin will decide the fate of the world.

I had to take a breather before I could write this review. Why, you ask? Well, then, you must never have read a book by this author before! This latest in the unique, interesting, thrilling, mesmerizing…all kinds of adjectives…universe is just like all the rest of the books: hard to put down. Callie is dealing with the fallout of the previous installment, and just like poor Nate, she has to deal with new and old villains, obstacles, and just plain old eggs…what?!? Great book sure to satisfy all the Mary Ellens out there. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Halo breaker? Heart breaker!!!

You have to love a book that grabs you by the tear ducts and refuses to let you go , I was so engrossed that I didn’t realise I was making noises out loud until someone snapped me out of it . Not only does Callie reach a new level of disassociation but she seems to mature in a different way as well. And makes a new friend along the way. Watch for the little Easter eggs our illustrious author likes to drop - there’s a couple that made me grin!

Really, anything I'd want to write here would be a spoiler, there's just so much! This one will blow a brain gasket, for sure. Forget what you 'know' about angels, demons... Heck, just set it all aside, sit back, strap in and ride it out.
Yet another fantastic episode in Callie's story.

The lunatic is in my head. You raise the blade, you make the change, you rearrange me til I'm sane..

Pink Floyd definitely came up with some insane lyrics, but usually so spot-on they can be used to describe everything at some point. This time they're working rather well at describing poor Callie's life right about now. Topsy turvy works too. Good grief, that poor girl is being put through her paces!

I don't think there is any way to really tell you what to expect from Halo Breaker. Except maybe that it's Callie. It's what she does, breaks halos. Which, needless to say, is not something the angels appreciate. But, as the Horseman of Despair, concern for the feelings of angels must remain very low on her list of things to worry about. What with her godparents' wedding, Lucky acting oddly, Uriel on the loose and behaving extremely unangel-like, and war brewing in KC, she doesn't even have time to concentrate on that beautiful hunk of a male, Ryuu.

There is no question this is part one of a two-part continuing saga of our White Rose and her part of the larger story of Templeverse. Callie is lately becoming a favorite of mine. Quinn always had place numero uno in female characters in this multi-city saga, but Callie is fast coming up along the inside lane. She has developed into a character with a lot of spunk and personality, with plenty of snark to keep us entertained. And the story? Well, between Nate, Quinn and Callie, and all the characters on the periphery, this story has taken off in one direction...straight up!

It is still very convoluted, which after so many books in the series, can't be helped. You will actually need to read the series to understand what's going on. But once you do, once you get here? Well, buckle up because this is one hayride that's bumpy and twisty and emotional and hairy. And oh so very shrouded in mystery and myth.

Shayne Silvers is unique in the world of fantasy in that he not only creates worlds within our world but worlds within those worlds as well. His take on the various mythologies that make up a religion, exotic cultures and the many pantheons is so unusual, so diverse that it takes time to understand and embrace it. But the journey you take with him through the world of Templeverse, from Nate through Quinn and even a bit of Soren, is an exciting one, and Halo Breaker just takes things up a notch, ushering you into Angel Dust, the next book in this series, which you will be holding your breath waiting to read. What an adventure! And Callie is front and center and definitely in the house throughout this entire storyline, so get ready. Once started, no stopping. Not until you're done.

To sum this up, let's make it easy. How about just...WOW! Once again, Shayne aced it! Well done, Shayne Silvers! So Very Well Done, indeed!

With each new book Shayne Silvers writes in his awesome Templeverse saga it gets better and better.
Halo Breaker is definitely the best addition to the series so far, fast paced with enough events twist and turns to give you whiplash you won't want to put it down.

Rising Above the Ashes
“Halo Breaker”, Feathers and Fire Series Book #10, is another MASTERpiece from Shayne Silvers. Once again, he has proven that he excels in the use of imagery and character depth. It is another gem added to the TempleVerse world.

Callie finds herself a leader of people with a heart of a warrior, fighting battles around her and within. The book is full of action, blood and a struggle against Sins that we all can relate to.

Halo Breaker is busting at the seams with rich characters, favorites we have already met and new ones to make us laugh and add depth to the story. Obie and Grace, both colorful characters, are examples of Silvers’ trademark humor which helps balance the overall emotional feel of the book.

Answers are given as well as more questions are raised. We are pulling for Team Callie but will she rise above the ashes in the battle of the celestial plane, between angels and demons? Not to mention the many other supernatural entities, including the Easter Bunny. Yes, the Easter Bunny.

Shayne Silvers, in his trademark way, also touches the reader’s heart with lessons of friendship, family, strength and love. As you are entertained by an incredible story line, you are learning about life.

Silvers’ imagination will capture your heart and challenge your senses. It is pure satisfaction of a well written book which you will want to savor every moment. Just brilliant.

Callie’s books tend to have more emotionally charged scenes than Shayne Silvers’ other series. I went from a manically giggling scene to being distraught. I was absolutely crushed and Shayne managed to pick me up, dust off my emotions and kept me involved and mentally invested in the story.
I feel like an unseen observer in Shayne Silvers books. I’m able to see the scene through everyone’s eyes and be a part of the story. You might say that is what a story is supposed to do. But it’s rare to find this experience. This is a real gift that I cherish whenever it’s been found. Shayne Silvers has this particular gift and I anticipate the escape from reality while reading his work. Every book displays Silvers improvement at his craft and I can not imagine where he will be in ten years. I don’t have the ability to imagine the scenario .The best news is that this half of a story arc. The other half is set to be released in about a month.

Wow

Another 5 star book from Silvers. It always takes me a little time to get back into the world he builds, and this one was no different. However, I found myself wrapped up in it far quicker than. I usually do.

Callie is back with her ever-growing assortment of friends, enemies, and frienemies. She's got some recovering of her emotional wounds to do and Silvers does a fantastic job of weaving a web of mystery, intrigue, character growth, snark, laughs, ans violence. As always, he answers some questions but leaves us with more than we initially had.

One thing is for certain, as long as he keeps writing I will keep reading.

Words honestly cannot do Shayne Silvers' work justice. From the very first Templeverse novel it was obvious that his writing was something you always hoped to find when buying a book. Every new book he writes just gets better and more exciting.

Halo Breaker has upped the bar yet again.

Shayne Silvers' writing is no-holds barred exciting action. The continuing storyline pulls no punches yet is lifted by snark and occasional laugh-out-loud humour. This is all out-matched by one of the most beautiful moments I have ever read.

Other reviewers will describe the plot. All I will say is read this guy. I don't know of another author today of his calibre.

Sinfully Good!

Another Sinfully good addition to the Callie Penrose Saga! War is Coming To KC and Callie is just about Done with Heaven and Hell using her City as a playground. With the help of some new and old Allies Callie starts to unravel the secrets Angels and demons have kept hidden for ages, and as she does, she unveils parts of her own mysterious past!

Man! I love Callie! I always enjoy her adventures but this book has so many revelations it will have your head spinning. Action packed non stop fun from page 1.

Starts out at a fever pitch and refuses to relent. With Claire still MIA, her recent losses, and infiltrations/betrayals from those able to shapechange, Callie starts questioning everything and everyone around her, including herself. In response, she cranks up her deviousness. But unable to trust in anyone, she takes a massive sucker punch she was unable to counter.
Twisty as hell and massive fun, it plays with the reader using snark, unveilings, and more surprises. A mobius striptease.

Shayne Silvers is back with the tenth book in this author’s extraordinary Feathers and Fire series. Despite being do deep into the series the newest addition, Halo Breaker, is totally fresh - and totally addictive. I adore Callie Penrose and I adore this series. Having said that, at this point there’s simply too much going on for me to attempt to summarize it (see the publisher’s blurb for as close as one could get to a decent summary) even if somehow despite that the book is easy to follow along. Fans of this series prepare to rejoice, and to get too little sleep (that’s the addictive bit, remember), though the sleep deprivation is well worth it. Newcomers, you’ll enjoy this too - but if you’ll willing to risk the absorbing addiction then I urge you to start with book 1 and savor things as the story arc develops. As for this book (as with the entire series so far), well, it’s supremely easy to highly recommend.

Shayne Silvers - self described sadistic sociopath! And he was not wrong. Callie is thrown through a washing machine on it's final spin right at the start! Badly injured, she has to find how to fix things before they escalate out of control. Sanguina has gone on her own quest, leaving Castle Dracula prone to attack, and meaning Callie cannot heal very fast. Forced to find a new ally, Callie goes on a trip to ensure her Godparents upcoming wedding is not disturbed by anyone, and to find her best friend, Claire. The day of the wedding is... well, I will not give any spoilers. But Shayne Silvers certainly earns his newest moniker.
People die. People survive. And we get a new friend in Grace - absolutely love her!
Well done on another excellent book! When is Angel's Dust out?

Just give me a minute

Wow. Trying to process here. Welcome back, Callie, my friend. This book was everything I was hoping it would be, and more. Callie is one of my all time favorite heroes, and Feathers and Fire is one of my favorite series. Wouldn’t even begin to know where to describe this book without it being a spoiler, but Mr. Silvers hit it out of the park. The feels, the laughs, the amazing characters. (I think he even poked a little at himself, lol). I do wish Callie could get just a little quality down time. Just a little, okay? Need more ninja time too. Now, trying to patiently wait for the next.

Angels fight dirty...but so does Callie...

Still reeling from her last battle with a Sin and the brutal slayings of some of her family, Callie is faced with the impossible. She doesn’t have one or two problems, she has them all. Heaven, Hell, the Vatican, angels, demons, even the Four Horsemen—they all want a piece of her. And if they can’t get it? Then they want to make certain no one else gets it either! As allies betray, enemies offer aid, secrets abound, Hope is sought but only Despair is found...and through it all Callie must go back to the very beginning to unravel more of her past and find the way forward. Humanity’s future and the looming Omega War hang in the balance as Callie discovers that some fiery truths about herself and her destiny. Strap in and hang on!

Wow what a fantastic read! Action, adventure and a complete escape from reality, this book has been exceptionally well crafted. In true Shane's style we are taken on a wild ride with Callie and her team of misfits into world's beyond imagination. Through it all though Callie has a sense of friendship and love, enduring so much to see her mission and keep her people safe from the evil that lurks around them.
5 stars and I would recommend reading the complete series of Templeverse books, a must for fantasy fiction fans everywhere.

This is one of my favorite Callie Penrose books!! The non stop action will keep you in your seat gasping for air. You meet old friends and new. Don't let the fluffy bunny get behind you and keep your ears tuned for the sound of screams. As all Hell and Heaven break loose while going for the Gold in Kansas City. Who lives, who dies and who just gets really messed up. Shayne gives us great characters, people that you will care about and root for, and those you want to see smashed to pieces. What he never gives us is boring, stale and routine. This book will give you joy, hatred, fear, unimaginable sorrow and of course, a great read!! Buy it now.

Yet another masterpiece by Shayne Silvers. In the opening chapters of Halo Breaker, all heaven breaks loose, and Hell scrambles to keep up. The Sins are still running amok in Kansas City, joined by comrades and enemies mortal and celestial alike. With loved ones missing or dead, it's up to Callie Penrose to stand tall against the onslaught that is threatening to destroy her home, and her in the process. Castle Dracula's newest Master pulls no punches, even when the beating, living heart of the Castle vanishes without a trace. Joy will mingle with heartbreak and furious anger as you turn the pages of this book, and each glorious chapter will leave you thirsting for more.

Wow, this book is a wild roller coaster ride that will answer some questions, but also leave you with more! My emotions were all over the place, from being sad, to rolling my eyes, to excited, to laughing-out-loud. Is anyone or any place safe in Callie’s world? The characters are amazing and I loved them all, but my favorite in this story is Grace. This action-packed book is filled with danger, destruction, death, demons, angels, mystery, magic, allies, enemies, suspense, a red wedding, the Easter Bunny, romance, chaos, Thunder and Terror, battles, Nephilim, family, friends, The Garden, Halos, rings, Sins, war, twists and turns and more!

The Halo Breaker takes the stage

Welcome to the 10th book in the amazing Callie Penrose series. This one takes off right where the previous one left off, with the defeat of a Sin and some traumatic deaths. And the adrenaline doesn't quit from beginning to end. Questions are answered, new ones are posed, revelations abound and the roller coaster doesn't look like it will end any time soon. If you have been following the series, don't stop now, don't hesitate, just buy and devour this one before Angel Dust hits in June.

Death, life and ...... something else?

With Heaven and Hell coming for Master Dracula, Callie is hard pressed to hunt down the killer of her grandfather and his guardian, all while caring for the monsters in Castle Dracula, planning a wedding and recovering from a fight she was unprepared for.

Shayne once again hit it out of the park, with twists and turns at every turn of the page. Halo Breaker made me laugh, cry and want to slap Mr. Silvers repeatedly.

Well done.

Silvers does it again

OMG!!! The author monkey does it again- makes you growl, weep, laugh and makes you want to throw things. Takes you to the edge and leaves you there, pondering. "Did I read that correctly?" So you reread, shake your head and continue. No spoilers, but WOW!! Can't wait for the next book.

Headed for a heartbreak

I had the honor of reading this before launch as an arc reader. I must confess the book made it damn near impossible for me to focus on my responsibilitie of looking for errors. Shayne Silvers took me for a ride that's not ment for the feint of heart, and I'm still recovering.

It is astonishing what Shayne Silvers can put to paper. This storyline has twists, danger, betrayal, violence, old and new characters, many magical powers and enemies. It is fast-paced, action-packed, thrilling, and totally mesmerizing! Callie is so much more than a kick-ass heroine, and I cannot say more than that without spoiling the book for new readers. Get a copy you will be so thankful that you did. I freaking loved this book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

Just when you think Shayne Silvers can’t possibly write anything better than his last book, but then he does it! You will love this action packed roller coaster of a thriller! I was excited to see the new characters and can’t wait for what’s in store next. I would definitely recommend this book. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much that I purchased my own copy.

I thought Shayne brought his A game with Halo Breaker. We learn some terrible things in this book. Callie finds that she is surrounded by her enemies above, below and all around. What does she do? Callie puts in her big girl killing pants, and goes to war. Just be ready for several breaks throughout the book. Lots of, “Oh Shit!,” Moments. I can’t wait to see what Callie does next.
