I wasn't sure if I was going to like this but I did. The Zodiac is interesting, so I liked the personification of the Zodiac as these 12 men. I wouldn't necessarily categorize it as a dark adult romance, but it definitely has darker themes. Please check trigger warnings.

I want to say this book got me out of a reading slump. The story was intriguing and took me by surprise in more ways than one. However, I can’t say I totally hated this book. Sure, I didn't expect the dark storyline, the plot twists and the smut since most of it was non-consensual. Still, some characters such as Aries and Gemini were cool and the plot was really intriguing. (I kept turning the pages hahaha.)

Trash

How did this human even whip out so many books? The signs don't go with sun sign personalities AT ALL. The "Queen" is pretty much a groomed sex toy who's humiliated and forced to suck off twelve dudes so far. She even finds out she's not really the Queen and could just toss this whole crazy mess, but she's like 16 years old. This is basically pedophilia. 🤮🤮🤮

It's getting started...

...and too complicated. The Zodiac Queen is in a difficult position not knowinh who she wants and who se can rely on. The story unfolds, but somehow I lost interest on it. It's too much.

4-star review!!!

Okay, what did I just read? Lol… I did like the book generally but I found it very difficult to read at times. (In hindsight maybe I should have not gone blindly into this). This book is not for the faint hearted… I did like the character of the Queen because even though she was innocent, she had quite some sass on her. And generally, I did enjoy the plot of this book.

However, I felt like by the time I got to Book 3 (Gemini), it was slightly dragged on. I get the appeal of having different books for all the zodiacs and to see their characters and how they treat her but it feels kind of repetitive in a way. What I did enjoy however was the difference in characters between the Zodiac boys. And I did enjoy the twists this book provided and would definitely recommend (CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS FIRST!)

I hope this review finds you before I do Gemma.

This series could've been shortened to 3 books. Maybe 4, but I'm being generous. I've never hated a book more than I've hated this before, and I've read Ugly Love. And that's saying something. Anyway, toodleloo

I forced myself to finish this book because the second book was too full of rape and cruelty. The first book was meh. The third book a glimpse of a decent story, but I’m not interested enough to pay to finish.

A bit too dark of a read for me. I like dark reads, but the power dynamics here were off for my tastes. The blatant abuse of power, force, and manipulation on an 18 year old girl made me pretty uncomfortable. Read up the the 6th book, but don’t see myself continuing.

This series follows Novalee Van Buren a twelve year old Queen who has been contracted out by her Uncle to the Zodiac Brotherhood. When she turns eighteen she is to spend 12 months, a month each with each brother before being auctioned to be married to one. But the one catch is she must remain innocent and untouched until her wedding night.

Novalee doesn’t want to leave her home and move to a foreign land with 12 men. 12 men with varying degrees of sexual desires who will use her as they see fit as long as they don't take her virginity. She definitely doesn’t want to be humiliated and treated like crap by her uncle and especially by 12 strangers.

Part one "Aries" is Liam Castle the Chancellor story and the first of the 12. After first impression he is harsh and blunt, but as the book went on you got to see a different side to him. He‘s just trying to prepare her for his more crueler brothers.

By the end of the book Novalee thinks she’s in love with Liam, and isn’t willing to leave him. But anything can happen as it’s only been one month, there is still 11 more to go and 11 more man to spend time with.

This was a really great book to kick start a new series and can’t wait to see what Ms James has in store for us with the eleven other instalments.

If you are familiar with Gemma James’ work you know she likes to write dark books and this one is right on the edge of dark. The sexual tension and chemistry between the characters will have you needing a cold shower to cool off.

Part two “Taurus” is Heath Bordeaux the second of the 12 Zodiac’s. Heath is brutal, sadistic and cruel, he is constantly degrading Novalee. I wanted to jump in the book at the dinner get together to smack Heath over the head for the way he treated Novalee and her ladies. Mr Bordeaux was definitely not a favourite of mine and I’m glad that he is done with and now 10 months are left.

Liam Castle (Aries) makes appearances in this book but I still don’t like him, don’t get me wrong he is so much better than Heath but I think Novalee and Sebastian is a better match. Especially after the studio scene, damn! *fan self. Sebastians smug and hotness just pours off the pages and I can’t wait to read his book as it’s going to be explosive.

Part three “Gemini” is Landon Astor the third of the twelve Zodiac’s. Landon is nothing like Heather and Liam, he is caring, respectful and wants what’s best for Novalee. After having a hard month in the House of Taurus moving into to the House of Gemini is going to be different. The emotional turmoil that Novalee experiences is going to rock her world. Secrets about Novalee’s parents death will be revealed, more about the curse and what is expected of the Queen of the tower.

Sebastian Stone (Leo) makes memorable moments throughout this book, he is like a black hole, he sucks you in and you’ll never be the same again. #TeamSebastian.

Season One is the combination of the first three installments of the series. I need to start off by saying that I’m not overly patient and this series novella format is really not my thing where each installment is less than 100 pages. That being said, I am completely intrigued with the underlying mystery of the Zodiac Brotherhood. Novalee is left in the care of her uncle after her parents pass. He has arranged for her to be auctioned off to one of the 12 members of the Zodiac Brotherhood, but first she has to spend one month with each of the men.

ARIES is Liam Castle who seems to have a strong protective streak, but there are traditions to adhere to that he can’t ignore.

TAURUS is where we meet Heath Bordeaux who is much more strict than Liam was. He seems to have a secret agenda with her, but we don’t know for sure what his full intentions are.

GEMINI is where we meet Landon Astor who knows more about Novalee than she knows about herself. He also has a plan on which of the brotherhood should be the winner of the auction, but why is he so convinced on who is the best suiter for her? We actually learn quite a bit about Sebastian in this installment since Landon basically passes his turn to his friend.

I’m getting the pull between Liam and Sebastian and Novalee but I’m still distracted by the underlying mystery and can’t really pick who I want to be the winner. I can’t believe that we are going have to wait for so many more books to solve this mystery and see how it ends!

Plot 4 | Writing Style 4 | Steam 4 | Romance 3 | Angst-Suspense 4 | Darkness 1 | Humor 1 | Secondary Characters 4 | Drama-Conflict 3 | Mystery 4 | Twists 4 | Action 3 | Pacing Steady | Dual POV | MF | BDSM | Twists and Turns | Suspense | Overall 4.5 Stars

Having just completed both Zodiac Queen season One and Two I can definitely say this is not for the feint of heart. This is a series you’ll either like or you won’t. I am an avid fan of whatever Gemma James writes so this is not out of the realm for me . I just love her writing. Reading this series is like watching a mini drama on Netflix. Each story becomes more intriguing and better than the last, you become addicted to what’s going to happen next. Gemma’s devious mind and plots blow me away.

Having said all of that this series is about a young woman who was turned over to a house of 12 men each one being of the house of a zodiac sign. It’s set in modern era but there were moments I felt like I was transported back to mid evil time.. there are several twists and surprises you wouldn’t expect or see coming

I think what really intrigues me is the dynamics of the characters. On the surface yes a young woman is abused by men and she has to endure this centuries old tradition but reading beyond the words on the page you can see how the female lead character develops, what she has endured and sacrificed has also made her stronger. Not only does she manifest a change in a centuries old tradition she essentially is about to rock the mind set of a group of men , some of which are staunchly rooted in this centuries old tradition.

I pretty much read all of Gemma James, this for me is her best work yet!

Somehow it reminds me of the Dark Legacy Duet by Natasha Knight, but makes better sense and is just way better than it. Alike, Novalee has to be shared. She has to stay with each of the twelve men every month and would end up marrying to the guy who held the highest bid. You might think it’s disgusting and unbearable and I’ll tell u that I also doesn’t like this tradition. However, the content might not be as dark and disgusting as u might imagine. At least not to me. So far, each man has a very different character and it’s like seeing how Novalee has to find a way to interact and communicate with each and one of them. With just a little bit of force😂😂
This story doesn’t only surround with how Novalee struggles with the tradition of Zodiac Island, and does not also surround with her “relationship” a with the three men, so far, but it also has secrets and plots and some angsty in it. Also , it has a cliffhanger in the end and I’m now hesitating on whether to continue reading because according to the schedule on Amazon, the last book might come up until 2022😭😭😭

Wow....I'm not entirely sure what I have just read....because i can honestly say out of all the books I've ever read nothing and I mean NOTHING comes even close to this! I'm not even sure how to categorise it....it's twisted, dark and deviant in a sexual way.
It centres around one 'queen' who over a 12 month period must spend one month with a guy from a different zodiac sign, being passed around and forced into sexual and disturbing situations...this book set covers Aries, Taurus & Gemini. There is a lot more to the story than this though, definite betrayal and interwoven secrets, a story full of suspense that will leave you on the edge of your seat.....I just don't know who you can trust in this story!!

Naturally as a lover of dark and twisted romance, I just couldn't put this down from the opening page....I can honestly say I have no idea at all where the author is going to take this....I just can't wait!!!
Highly recommend!

Novalee. A queen. At twelve following the untimely demise of her royal parents.

Twelve men. Zodiac houses. A contract. A year. And an auction for the queens hand.

A lot of secrets. A lot of complicated men.

Here are there stories (law and order theme song);

Liam.

Adorable. What a hottie. But also… hm…. Unsure about his development.

Heath.

Dude, therapy doesn’t cost much for a billionaire.
Also, go off queen.

Landon.

Wow. What a plot twist. Cool. Love a good ally arch.

Adding Sebastian bc he deserves to be added.

I have a feeling there is going to be a serious plot between Novalee and Sebastian. Here for it.

Now, Novalee.

Seriously? The name is just… fucking horrible. I hoped in the beginning that she’d end up going by Nova bc Novalee is just not cute.
It’s a very stereotypical American white girl thing, isn’t it? Adding lee to the end of things. Sometimes a normal, traditional name gets the job done.

🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

This is a wild ride, but I knew what I was getting into!
I wanted a bit more world building to understand the whys of this world as there is a lot of un answered questions! It’s very hard to swallow the way the fmc is treated throughout a lot of this and tbh I don’t like the mmc’s she likes 🤣 but the whole zodiac thing is interesting, I just thought there was going to be some sort of magic! But there isn’t it seems to be set in present day! The whole virginity thing is wild but again this world needs more of the whys explaining! I’m going into season 2 though🫡

Needless to say, this book was not what I was expecting, the spice was mediocre, a little overhyped on TikTok, and in the story they couldn’t do much, which was like what the hell is the point of the book. i also didn’t realize the series is unfinished, so the first two books just felt like a big slow burn bc you are still getting a bit of background between love stories between several people. The story behind everything I enjoy but I was hoping that there was more to it as well

Mystery Suspense and the need to know more

This series engulfed me from the very first pages. The need to uncover all the secrets is palpable and the strength and determination that Novalee has is admirable. Who will win, who is being genuine and who is honestly in love?!?! Cant wait to read the next zodiac.

Dark, but fun and well written

Not for the faint of heart but the main character is unique and the guys are infuriating (ly hot) the smut isn't in your face garish and theres a bigger story brewing underneath that I'm excited to read more for.
Really well rounded, couldn't put down

It was such a good start to this series. It does have some things that could be triggers for people.

This is the first three in the Zodiac Queen series. Our FMC has to spend a month with each of 12 men who are the heads of their houses. The houses just happen to be named after the zodiac. This book covers the houses of Ares, Taurus, & Gemini.

This series is going to be the "why choose" romance novel of the year for me.
I can totally see Novalle with Liam because he was her first but after reading the whole novel I am certain she will end up finding love with another zodiac member...

-why choose
-the brotherhood
-forced proximity
-force marriage
-forced intimacy
-pick me
-hidden secrets
-ulterior motives

I strongly dislike a weak FMC and man this girl just takes it all with nothing to really give. It's assault after assault, rapes over and over and abuse after abuse and she never grows a freaken back bone or does anything to help herself. Shit I assumed she was going to slit her wrist halfway through the second book. It is a rough read lots of TW needed!

good story

So definitely check triggers for this book before going in. I didn’t but don’t really have triggers per day but there was a huge aspect that gave me the ick. But when the story started flowing (because there is definitely plot and it’s great) and the smut started smutting the ick vanished. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

The first two books were terrible. The third wasn’t too bad but a sex doll for twelve men? Poor girl. And she ain’t even the queen. Yet she’s still doing this? They could tell everyone the truth.

That being said, the cliffhanger is what makes me want to read the next, simply because I want to know who the traitor is.

Intriguing story

This is a different kind of story that I felt like I couldn’t look away from (even though sometimes I wanted to). It’s much more intriguing than I expected. Who can she trust? How will she get through each month? I’m very interested to see what happens next.

Very intriguing

My first foray into this style of writing and it was very enjoyable. The pace is far, the story has a great base and the characters are real. Looking forward to the next book.
