Good Witches Don't Steal

"Thief" isn't the worst thing I've been called.Rumors have spread about me at the academy. "liar," "cheat," "cursed." They're not totally wrong, but they're not totally right, either. I did what I had to do to protect my friends. In my fourth year at the academy, I have one piece of the weapon left to the thief's blade. And I know exactly where it's hidden...Edinburgh, amongst the shadows of the ancient city under the ground. In order to defeat the Shade, I have to walk her path. In order to wield her weapon, I have to embrace the darkness.Good Witches Don't Steal is the fourth book in the Academy of Shadowed Magic series, a new adult urban fantasy featuring a snarky heroine who swears, a slow-burn romance, mild violence, and all the magic and mayhem you'd expect.

Advertised as: If Hermione was the main character in Harry Potter. Now, I have not read the Harry Potters books because as a kid, it was not allowed. And now as an adult, it’s (mainly) about a boy and I would rather it be (mainly) about Hermione. So, that advertisement did its work on me and I am having so much fun with these books.

Clementine is now in her fourth year at the academy. I really appreciated how the author worked through the passage of time over the course of this series since Clementine starts her first year at the academy and is introduced to the magical world in the first book. Each book is basically set over the course of a year. So a lot has happened! These books are fairly short with a quick pace. The author manages to always cover the important, exciting points without getting boring or too in the weeds on certain issues and lessons.

Her sweet friends have warmed my heart, her black cat has provided me laughs, the slowest of slow burn romances waiting in the wings has kept me locked in (except he better have some more page time in the last book!), and seeing Clementine grow into a loving, complicated, and, hopefully, unstoppable force for good has been a worthwhile ride.

Also, Liara and Headmistress ended up being some of my favorite side characters when I truly disliked them in Book 1 for being mean to Clem. This author really gets it.

Also x2, the titles are funky but they relate to the prophesy Clem has to fulfill to stop the forces of evil. All in all, it has been a bit since a 5 book series has kept me this engaged!

Good Witches Don’t Steal (Academy of Shadowed Magic Book 4)

Good Witches Don’t Steal (Academy of Shadowed Magic Book 4) ~~ Wow! Book four took the action and emotions to a whole new level. This book was non-stop, yet still gave me those quiet character moments I’ve grown to love. I found myself both cheering and crying as Clementine and her friends faced betrayal, loss, and triumph. The suspense and mystery elements kept me guessing, while the plot twists hit me in the best possible way. S.W. Clarke’s writing just keeps getting stronger, and the emotional stakes felt so real. I honestly loved this book—it might be my favorite of the series so far!

Clem looks like your typical badass, but inside her insecurities there is rational Clem keeping her grounded and Spitfire who seems like the bad guy but saves Clem’s bacon numerous times.
Loki her ever loving and sarcastic cat also keeps Clem going in the right direction along with Aidan and Eva. The Guardians have many perilous missions with Clem right in the middle of it all. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I will say what the heck is going on with that tree?

Another great entry into this series.

The series plot arc thickens, the action ramps up and the female lead continues to be multi-dimensional, relatable and likable.

Definitely recommend!

Very entertaining, absolute page turner, the plot thickens with dasterly deeds afoot, more action than you can shake a stick at, some shocking twists and revelations.
Sigh got to wait until December for the final book.
