My grandfather was the alpha of all alphas and, in a desperate move to acquire more power, made an oath he could not turn his hand from.

A deal with the dark lord. Our shifter god. The physical embodiment of the devil himself - The Shadow Beast.

The one my mother warned me to never give into. A being whose very existence scares our enemies and children into submission.

On the day of atonement, he comes ready to collect his prize. One he has waited for a millennial for. My father tries to outsmart him by breaking the oath. In his rage, he destroys everything within his path and takes me as his prisoner.

A life for a life. A soul for a soul until the debt is repaid, they say.

I am now thrust into an unfamiliar world and left to wager with people who despise my kind. Yet, desperately cling to me as their savior.

It turns out being kidnapped was only the beginning.

Absolutely could not put this down! I’m ready for the next installment. Excellent characters, mystery, intrigue, and dark violence. Then, it shifts to beauty and learning and hope. The FMC and the MMC have chemistry off the charts and I am so ready to learn more about his world - the respect he sees in women and the strength. I’m really hoping the new characters we were introduced to in the 2nd half of the novel are given much more story and backstory in the next installment!

It is never easy to write negative reviews, but unfortunately I have to do it this time. 😔

I had high hopes for #WolfMoon , because the synopsis sounded great and magical and mysterious, but unfortunately I was quite disappointed in the end. Throughout the entire book I wasn't really able to connect with any of the characters and because of that it felt like I couldn't really get into the story. Every now and then I felt like it was getting better and I was finally getting a grasp. E.g. the first time Caelum was introduced and there was a chapter from his perspective which was at about 30%. I loved this chapter! I felt like I was getting more along with him than Ayana. In total Caelum was for sure my favourite character, however, since majority of the book was told from Aiyana's perspective it couldn't save my overall issues with the book. :(
Aiyana and I never got warm with each other...

Then weirdly I felt like there was barely anything happening, while at the same time too much was happening. Let me try to explain... the story started super slow and as the story progressed I felt like in the actual chapters, in the moments we experienced nothing happened. It felt like the characters were standing still. But at the same time, I was *told* so many things that happened, but that I didn't experience. E.g. I was told from Aiyana's POV how much the relationship between her and Caelum had developed, how much she had developed, how much she had learned, but it was only *told* it was never actually happening in the moment, which made it feel like the book was told in a conversation, but I missed experiencing all the good things...

And then one last thing that really confused me: The father (the villain figure) has the same name as one of the side characters later on in the story. Most of the time I knew when she was talking about whom, however, there was one scene where this really confused me and completely kicked me out of the flow of the story, which was just a shame... 😔

I think overall the story had great potential and maybe it just wasn't for me. I wanted more from it, but I just couldn't connect.😔 I think there needs to be some further editing, even before giving the book to ARC readers, I think the father should get another name to minimise confusion and I feel like there should be more scenes of her actually experiencing things with Caelum. The time gaps between the chapters should be smaller. Sometimes it threw me off that Aiyana was talking about how multiple weeks or months had passed.

What I really liked though was the fact that Aiyana talked with her sister Calla through the letters and that this was her way of working through all the things that happened, through her fear and her issues. It was her therapy and I really liked that aspect about the book and the fact that talk about needing therapy was there and that it was not assumed she could just magically heal through love and friendship, but that it is actually a long and slow process!!! That was a point the author did exceptionally well, because I don't think these things are usually addressed that openly in literature!

Aiyana and Callum are two shifters that have been through a lot in there lives. Aiyana has lost everyone that has meant anything to her and has been through so much in her life. She is a caring and loving shifter who has had so much hate sent her direction. Callum who is the shadow beast is her fated mate but has a curse on him that keeps him from wanting to claim her. She is needed to help break the curse but he can't ask for her help she has to figure out all this on her own. There is adventure, romance, magic, shifters and other paranormal beings. This book was exciting to read and had great character development. If you love paranormal romance with magic shifter and so much more this books is one you should read. It is a very enjoyable read from start to finish.

A really entertaining paranormal shifter romance with strong intriguing characters and a storyline that was exciting and thrilling involving shifters and magic. There are some triggers but I didn't find it too dark. It does end on a cliffhanger however.

A great read - started a bit slow for me (I'm super impatient!), but I quickly became engaged in the story. The characters come alive - even the secondary characters. Maya does a great job of developing the characters - they evolve as the story does. Well done Maya! Keep 'em coming...

This one was such a fantastic twist on the normal shifter type genre. The world building was fantastic and the characters were all so very unique.

I loved the way the author writes their action scenes and the heat level was spot on for this book.

So the Wolf Moon by Maya Morrison was indeed a thrill ride. From the begin it was a bit slow but it picked up soon after and when it did….

BOY OH BOY!So many questions answered and more questions unanswered..it was a never ending mystery full of Action and Trust.

One thing I absolutely adored from this book was when our main character Aiyana had a MAJOR and I mean MAJOR character development.

Seeing a weak woman afraid to grow and show her true strength because she feels unworthy and Unloved to a Strong woman full of power, strength, and determination like nothing ever seen before with constant encouragement from other WOMEN?!!I LOVED IT!

Ultimate Girl power!

Our male lead Caelum was such a sweet heart and super patience and loving with our FL considering he’s an Alpha with a lethal curse tied to him and his kingdom. But the chemistry between them was such a sweet,romantic,slow-burn romance that I believe was perfect to show Aiyana how much she was worthy of a loving mate and him of her.

The only reason I’m giving Wolf Moon four stars was simply because it was a bit slow in the beginning and a couple grammar mistakes, but the story itself was such a great fantasy with fitting characters and awesome female representation.

I feel like Maya Morrison did a GREAT job with this story and I’ll be looking forward to reading more of her stories as well!

I received an ARC but this opinion is solely my own and no one else’s.

Happy Reading!!

I found this book to be a very interesting meld of different story lines in the paranormal genre. Taking shapeshifting, witches, elves and the shadow beast legend is inspired. Add in the fairy tale aspect and this book is a work of art. Maya Morrison has really created something amazing. I also enjoyed the fact that this book was not a quick read, this allowed me to really immerse myself in the story without it cutting off suddenly after what only seems like a few pages. Definitely worth a read.

You know when you grab a book based off the cover and after you read the book it gives you pause? I’m having one of those moments. The blurb was spot on, but the cover…. Anyhow, Wolf Moon by Maya Morrison made for a good read. It starts a bit slow (And sad) and then turns itself into something else. More exciting, more entertaining.

The story starts with Aiyana living her father’s pack. The only family that truly loved her dead by murder (mom) or suicide (sister) when she was at a young age. Now her existence is with her abusive father (Alpha) and his pack. On the day of atonement, the dark lord comes to collect his prize but her father tries to break the oath made by his father only to have the dark lord get angry by destroying everything in his path and take Aiyana as his prisoner. Now she is thrusted into a new world filled surprises and more secrets than she expected.

Got to admit, the beginning almost lost me. It’s a slow, and very sad. The abuse Aiyana was enduring is heartbreaking. Let me be frank here, I have been enjoying a string of humorous books and really didn’t want to be lost in one that was going to bring me down and rip my heart out. And then Aiyana gets kidnapped by the dark lord, aka The Shadow Beast. Whoa! Things start picking up and now I am back to enjoying the story. The new situation she finds herself in has sucked me back in and characters are great. It’s a ball of secrets, actions, and fun that had me thinking, the slow sad beginning was totally worth it. There’s build-up as Aiyana starts to uncover secrets as well as finding that are even more things she has yet to sort out.

At this time, I would like to point out the author has stated this is a ‘standalone paranormal romance’. WRONG! Oh, so wrong. Standalones do not end on cliffhangers, and let me tell you, Wolf Moon ends on a doozy of a cliffy. The next book in Crescent Moon City Series better come out soon because I need to find out what happens next.

Proofreading Needed

So many “big” words were used, but incorrectly. Eschew instead of askew, myrrh instead of mirth, etc. Sort of similar in sound, but way different meanings. (Unlike the difference in English vs American spelling where the words are spelled slightly different, yet have the same meaning.) It makes one wonder if the author was trying to use these words to make the story sound more intellectual. If so, they failed significantly.

The story lagged a lot. It was jumbled and the juxtaposition of modern and archaic was not explained well. The wolves live as though they are back in time. Humans about an hour away live in modern day times. Why? The humans may not know about wolves, but surely they know of the cities and their archaic ways?

The heroine, who had never left where she was raised, was able to assimilate into modern culture, use technology, etc. in less than six months? Not to mention she left the pack with only the clothes on her back, yet had also been able to acquire suitable work clothing, rent a cabin, etc. with zero funds and no outside help. How?

Then we add in another realm on top of it? I felt as though the author had a few different ideas for a story and just decided to smash them together. This hodgepodge just ends up like the leftovers in your fridge. They were tasty separately, but combined are just awful.

Please streamline the story, add the missing pieces, and edit, edit, edit. There could be a good story here, but you need to dig it out.

Watered down rejected?

I couldn't get past 30 percent of this read. This reminded me way to much of "rejected (shadow beast shifter) by: jaymin eve. and although this author was putting I guess they're own spin on it, it just wasn't good. There were times I was confused as to what the heck was going on, the story just jumps from one thing to another. There are also times that some things become contradictions, as her saying she couldn't remember much about her mother, she was killed when our H was very young. Yet she would up and recall things her mother said or did? Our H is beaten down to literally a shell of herself. I wouldn't say she was strong, is she barely surviving? Yes, but by her strength? No. She's just going through the motions, and you can tell with how much she just gives in and takes and deals with the brutality against her. by this point the story is all over the place, and now steps in the shadow beast, who has comes for her,
which I'm not even going to get into that mess. He says, how she's so beautiful and strong! I then had to just stop right there.
