TARAI

I was supposed to be in charge. That was always my intention.

Until that slick corporate raider, Ethan Bradford, clicked his fancy pen and poof! Just like that, I was under him, instead of on top.

Rich and powerful men-especially arrogant, handsome ones-are all the same.

I know exactly how to handle him, but when my father pulls rank and orders me to play nice, my plans of putting him in his place vanish.

I know his type. I've been around men like him my entire life, but one chance meeting with him and his son, makes me question everything I thought I knew.

ETHAN

When it comes to business, I always come out on top. Not even being a single dad can slow me down. I never let a good investment get away, and that includes Taylor Toys. After all, business is business, right?

How was I supposed to know a friendly meeting would set me on fire? Tara Taylor is a spoiled princess, used to getting everything she wants.

Sure, her good looks and smart mouth turn me on like nothing else. Despite her hostile stares, she triggered feelings I thought were long dead.

She dares to judge me while she stands there in her designer shoes, looking more beautiful than any marketing exec I've ever met. Instead of being grateful that I saved her family's legacy, she blames me for their failure.

What was meant to be a formality turns into a game of wills.

I never lose. Except this time, I find myself wanting her more than I want to win. I find myself wanting her to take over.

STORY:
I am 3 books in with this author and I like the way she writes or conveys a story to me. It connects to my preference with certain books that I like. I appreciate that she gives you not only sexy and steamy but family. She creates a unit, and that involves everyone, and you feel like you are a part of that family.

DILF, dad I like to F$&@. The moment this story started I was so into it. The book started in an office environment with Ethan and Tara and the stare down match was so entertaining. It got my blood pumping because you can smell the dislike from Tara. Ethan is a single father and a corporate shark. Tara is a daddy’s girl and works for the family business that Ethan will be purchasing and taking over. I love their little petty quarrels as you see the tension rising between these two. I thought the enemies concept didn’t last long, but it was enough for me to enjoy. However, doesn’t mean these two did not have drama.

CHEMISTRY:
Sexually, these two could not get enough of each other. That same spicy attitude translated to the bedroom. I personally was satisfied with their sex scenes as it matched the flow of the story.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
So many but the ones I will mention, here goes:

Hunter - works for Ethan. Love the attitude and holds the world’s record for being fired multiple times in one day and week. Not a main character but worth mentioning because he made me laugh.

Bernice - that naughty auntie that flirts with everyone.

Vickie and Alan - sister and brother to Tara. Love their dynamics.

Elizabeth- Ethan’s sister. I like her.

Vinnie - adorable

Lindsay -.......................poop

Colt - I’m in love. Neighbors to Ethan.

OVERALL
I love this story and enjoyed Ethan’s and Tara’s journey. It seems Colt will have his story, won’t say with whom, but I can’t wait after getting a little taste.

✰✰TRIGGERS:

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. Takeover not winning my heart. I am a bit confused with the focus o the story. However, the tension between characters are hot.

Miss Sola only give us a good promising sexy banter at the beginning. Then everything loses it's steam. Together with the focus of the book.
Even the drama with the ex wife can not help the story.

The only good thing about the book is the chemistry.

UPDATE 2025

Seriously, I read this book every year though I don't see a note for 2024. This is my favorite Evelyn Sola book and each time I read it, I love it more and more ... I'll be back and update this review soon.

READ THIS BOOK!

UPDATE 2023

If you follow my reviews you already know this is my favorite Evelyn Sola book. Single Dad. Adorable Son. Hot Girlfriend—I'm in! Plus, it's my go-to book when I want to lift my spirits after reading something very average, fluffy or thought provoking.

This book never gets old. I love the way Ethan loves Tara and his son Vinnie and he doesn't care who knows it, disagrees with it or any other negative emotion they may have the misfortune to display. He put his ex-wife Lindsay and sister on notice that when you come for Tara, you come for him and he shuts them down—every time!

Lots and lots of laugh out moments and a few caveman scenes that I didn't hate in this story. Best of all, you meet Tara's siblings but the real star of the secondary characters is Aunt Bernie—she is an absolute hoot!

If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend that you do—today!

Happy Reading!

UPDATE 2022

Y'all I cannot STOP reading this book and I've highlighted numerous passages and made notes. Usually, it starts with reading a few of my favorite passages and somehow I just end up reading the entire book. I just love how much Ethan loves Tara and when his ex-wife comes for him—he shuts her down—every. single. time. I repeat ... every. single. time. I was embarrassed for this witch. Tara had to go there, y'all—don't let the Ivy League Education fool ya'—the hands can be lethal weapons. That is all.

Highly, highly highly Recommended: Read It!

UPDATE (2022)
Single Dad Romance is my kryptonite, throw in a smart, sexy woman that looks like me and I'm all in. I've read this story numerous (I'm not tellin') times, sometimes just the good parts and sometimes the entire book. It never fails to deliver all the feels. I love it!

Still Highly, highly, highly Recommended: Read It!

ORIGINAL REVIEW
Tara Taylor is hell bent on hating new owner Ethan Bradford who saved her family’s toy company that was on the verge of financial ruin. She goes as far as to try to weasel out the meet and greet of the new owner.

She reluctantly attends but displays very bad behavior to which she called out on by Ethan. So rude that her father makes her leave the room.

Days later she gets a phone call from Ethan, he wants her to have the toy store open an hour early so his son Vincent can shop. She flat out tells him no and why. Ethan calls her father and he demands that she not only open an hour early but she is tasked with giving them a tour.

When the day arrives, let’s just say—not everything is as we believe. Ethan’s son Vincent is a pure delight.

Later when HR calls to offer her a job at Ethan’s company she is extremely insulted with the job title and offer, so insulted that she barges into Ethan’s office and tosses a few things around. Well, not so fast—Ethan has more than a few choice words for her.

Hours later when she opens her door she’s surprised at who is standing on the other side of it, holding a flower bouquet and it’s NOT the Pizza Guy! After boldly eating her pizza, Ethan makes his move and the verbal arrows don’t stop flying. Ethan tells her what she needs and Tara wants a little less talking and a lot more action. They are both pleasantly surprised.

Then life happens and Ethan becomes a bit forgetful and Tara doesn’t forget. When he decides enough is enough, again he shows up at Tara’s apartment and she looks stunning. He demands that she cancel her plans and she tells him where to go. He’s a damn caveman, but I wasn’t totally hating his passion.

Ethan and Vincent like Tara, a lot, but there is a person in Ethan’s past that no amount of (numerous) humiliation(s) deters her from her action plan. Ethan makes it very clear—and in no uncertain terms—to all the naysayers that he won’t allow bs to ruin his relationship. Seriously, he doesn’t play when it comes to business or his woman.

Vincent affectionately called Vinnie is an adorable kid and his relationship with Tara and her siblings is beautiful. He’s shy, but when one sibling offers to play video games with him—well, his wish fulfillment of having a BIG brother came true in that moment.

I wish book amnesia was a thing so I could rediscover this book again like the very first time. This is the second book I've read (this year) where the couple is everything. This book made me laugh like a crazy person. This book is funny as hell—especially Ethan’s I have people for that attitude. The Single Dad is a trope that I’m fond of, Enemies to Lovers not so much, until now.

There is so much more that happens, but I will end this review now and say: “do yourself a favor and read this book.”

Snark Alert!

“This looks way better on you than it does on me,” he says.
“Naturally. I’m not a humpback like you, Quasimodo.”
“Right. And that would be hunchback. A humpback is a whale. You’d think with that fancy education, you would know that, but I guess not.”

Highly, highly Recommended: Read It!

Dnf at 12%. The female MC is just rude, whiny and annoying as fuck. Normally I give more of a chance but I can’t stand her chapters at all… I find the reviews to be quite deceiving.

Also can we talk about the fact this women is rude as fuck to the dad, yet he’s happy for her to be around his kid without even knowing her? Even if she’s good with kids if that’s how you treat people when you don’t even know them I defo wouldn’t be inviting her to breakfast with my kid.

Tara & Ethan (spoilers)

Ok, first of all, just as I expected, this book was ridiculously long for no absolute reason. Tara, although super well educated was such a brat in the beginning. But, in all fairness, Ethan brought it out of her. Ethan was soo unpleasant to read about. In the beginning, he was sooo arrogant, condescending, chauvinist, entitled, and overall a dick. For a black woman, I don't understand how Tara allowed him to speak to her the way he did. Some of the stuff Ethan said to her or did to her I wouldn’t have NEVER allowed. When Ethan was in her apartment, refusing to leave, and answered her door and started harassing her date oh, I was livid... It had my blood boiling. Eventually the duo did fall in love, but it came out of nowhere. Yes, they where sleeping together, spending time together, but their declaration of love for one another seem to come out of nowhere. The author did not take us on a journey to when they realized they loved each other. But all that said, Ethan did change. I guess love does that to you. I did enjoy the way he was with Tara towards the end, after they declared their love for one another. The way Ethan loved her was pretty cute.
Not gonna lie that fight scene between the two was super well written. This book was made by "US", but I don't think it was for "US". Although the story wasn't bad, I don't think I cared for the author's style.

Spoilers ahead

1* for all of Ethan's j/p moments
1* for Vincent and the secondary characters that have me interested enough I may have to wade through the other books in this series 😭

I'm not even 1/4 of the way through and this h is doing my head in!!! I have a literal headache because seriously what is this bitch's problem?!
She assumed so much about the H just because he's a rich white guy who inherited his company, she's judgemental and bitchy for absolutely no reason! You do not know this man!!!! He takes over her dad's company.....not a hostile takeover mind you the business was on the brink of bankruptcy and he basically saved everyone's jobs but because she wanted to run it with her dad someday she hates him. She proceeds to act like a toddler throwing a tantrum from then on. She thinks he's privileged and arrogant never mind that she too came from wealth and she too has inherited from her father because she was working for her dad's company!!!! She's annoying me so damn much I'm questioning why he even likes her!!!!!!!!!!
Grrrrrrr
#currently reading

Ha! I forgot to mention she has a boyfriend who moves to another state for work and never invited her along yet she clings to the relationship until she can't help but realise he's a selfish, insensitive asshole who she wasted two years on

Like seriously whyyyyyyyyyy does he like her😭😭😭😭😭😭

Chapter 31 they love each other (beats me why) but the book has 49 chapters 😭😭 I can smell the stupid unnecessary drama and third act breakup from here

*Well I found out.... chapters 31-56 are filled with the most ridiculous, contrived ow drama I've read in a while. Pages upon pages of his ex wife doing dumb shit trying to get him back but that wasn't enough no he had to say and do dumb shit to cause a separation on top of the ridiculous drama too 🙄

Chapters 57-59 are reconciliation with a little more drama from the ex who just won't catch a clue 😞

Epilogue
I've never been so happy for a book to be over

Mediocre sexy times deserves an honourable mention

SIDE NOTE: OM/OW drama.
I'm not really gonna recommend this book to an avid romance reader. Would have liked it if I was in my early teens, but now *huh* it's a big NO. Reading this reminded me of movies. The only things I liked about the book was Ethan's son, Vincent, the short chapters and epilogue because it was sweet. The rest of the review is gonna be about what exactly was problematic with this read.

🔴 In the first 10% we see Ethan obsess over Tara because he heard her getting engaged/married soon. I don't know what exactly he liked about her. She was immature, unnecessarily rude and did things without reason; a typical Wattpad female lead.
🔴 17% in and they kiss. It's how kids in 6th grade do. Awkward, and pretend as if they didn't intend for it to happen. There was just no chemistry or angst at all!
🔴 In the first quarter itself, they do it. Nothing more to tell. Decide for yourself.
🔴 It's been mentioned like 4-5 times that Tara's younger brother, Alan, can't really throw a punch in the face or fight. I thought he was some 10 year old. Didn't need TMI.
🔴 When a book is well-written since the beginning, that's how you know the author is IT. Here, I couldn't connect to the writing, so I didn't care about the characters. I felt Ethan was forced to like Tara in the beginning.
🔴 A character, Bernice, licks her lips and rubs her palms together a lot. She's gay. And IMO all gays need not be described as this over-enthusiastic, always bubbly characters. GAYS CAN BE SOPHISTICATED TOO! Hunter was another gay and I had the same issue with his character. He didn't have to say '*shrill voice activated* Boss, this is sexual harassment' all the damn time. It was not a sensible reply more than half of the time.
🔴 Evelyn tried sooooo hard to make the characters look 'cool', and let me tell you, she failed miserably. One example is this. John is Tara, Alan and Vickie's dad.
“Just to piggyback off what my twin said,” Alan announces. “Just the thought of having kids makes my balls jump back into my body.”
“Can balls do that, Daddy?” Vince asks me. “They sure can, kid,” Vickie answers for me. “And before you say I don’t have balls, Alan, my lady balls are much bigger than yours.”
“And probably hairier too,” Alan says.
“Okay, that’s enough. We have company,” John says, trying to hide his amusement.

Then later in the book John chastises Vickie for cursing in front of Vincent (shit).

They were way too comfortable around their parents, and that PDA? Bernice asks about biting and spanking right before Tara's dad, John. SCREAMS WATTPAD.

🔴 Sola also mentioned unrealistic things like 'Alan cut himself peeling potatoes and we spent hours in the emergency room waiting for him to get stitches.' RICH PEOPLE PROBLEMS IG.
🔴 The only nickname Ethan could get for Tara was Tar Tar?! Reminds me of tobacco residue.🤣
🔴 The book's way too long than necessary😑.
🔴 Was Ethan severe or sweet? The lines couldn't have been blurred further.
🔴 Cheryl (Tara's mom) and Vickie always giggle.
🔴 My request to Bernie during the dining table scene—stop saying 'I knew it' ffs.
🔴 Lots of sex. No breaks till the break of dawn(s).
🔴 Sola also tried to show she knew about Gen Z. Tara is confusing. She wants to keep stuff private, is worried when paparazzi photographs them, then goes ahead to tweet overly done 'cute things couples are supposed to be doing'. What does this girl want?

Basically, the side characters were more problematic than the MCs. Go ahead at your own risk.

New to me author.

This is one of those romances where I think the parts are better than the whole.

The best parts, imo, were the supporting characters. Tara's (the heroine) family and Ethan's (the hero) assistant Hunter were really fun to read. The writing for them felt natural and effortless. I love that Tara and her siblings affectionately always referred to their Stepmother as 'The Evil One'. It felt like an insidery thing that had been part of the family lexicon for years so it felt lived in. Hunter was the best assistant where the running joke was that he got fired multiple times a day.

And since we get a lot of face time with all of them, it is great.

I also liked how Tara and Ethan had their own love language of snarky banter. Again, this part of their romance felt effortless and the writing for it flowed and seemed natural.

The romance itself was hit and miss for me. There was no doubt these two were in love and devoted. But I felt the romance felt a little short-changed. There was an element of insta-love. They felt like they moved awfully fast The thing is, this is not a short book. It has a lot of page space that really the romance could have been explored. I get that they loved each other, she was great with his kid. But WHY did they love each other? A lot of time was spent on sex. Many sex scenes. I don't mind open door and hot sex in romances, I prefer it. But they were always on each other and it felt like the sex was a substitution for showing us why they fell in love. I really feel like some of the sex scenes could have been removed and we could have gotten some scenes of them really getting to know each other.

And then there are my least favorite parts of the book.

First is Tara herself. I almost DNF'd this book in the first 10% because she was just a horrible character. She was rude, bratty, entitled, immature and unprofessional. It felt like the author wanted an enemies-to-lovers book so she had to do something to make them enemies. But there was no reason to make them enemies -- or at least she didn't succeed in creating a foundation where they would be at loggerheads. So Tara's actions felt forced and inauthentic. And Ethan's reaction was just .. well his dick got hard. Again, he didn't reciprocate in any way to her hostility so it made her appear even more unhinged and didn't quite make the 'enemies' part of enemies-to-lovers work. But he was no better because why would you be attracted to a woman who was just being a rude asshole to you? Which is why the romance didn't completely work for me because the foundation was shaky.

I will give it to the author she did manage the transition from faux-enemies to lovers well and Tara did stop annoying me. So there was that.

And second, what romantic conflict there was was largely external with Ethan's ex-wife who was determined to get Ethan back. So much time and energy was given to this woman. Tara and Ethan were solid and in love but they felt oddly powerless to really deal with her, so again it felt inorganic and forced for her to be such the disruptive for that she was.

So yeah, there were flashes of really good storytelling and characterization here. I think I would have really loved this if it didn't feel like the two main conflicts had been artificial and if the romance had more depth.

DNF…Ethan is a rude asshole and hated the way he spoke to Tara. The scene in Tara’s apartment when he refused to leave and was extremely rude to her neighbor was the last straw. I’m starting to get really sick of the asshole hero trope. There’s nothing sexier than a guy who is kind and genuinely just a good person.

i forced myself to get through as much of this as i possibly could but I absolutely cannot anymore. I’ve never read a story that drags on more then this. the story just keeps going and going BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING. once they got “together” it was them literally having a cute moment with Ethan’s son, Vincent, then Lindsay coming back saying she wanted to be with him and that she changed over and over and over. after the third or fourth time i could not take it anymore.

also why were the ethan and tara terrible people in the beginning like full grown adults acting like 15 year olds. this honestly doesn’t even deserve a two but Tara’s and Vincent first cute moment together carried this entire book so…

Dropped it at 43%. 40 years old, has a kid, and doesn’t even know how to do his own laundry. Can’t even take a no for an answer. Listen. I like men who take charge. But men who refuse to listen no matter how many times you say no? Yeah, not for me. And the whole “I don’t ask, I just take” attitude didn’t do much for me, either. Not in this context. Another thing that weirded me out was when he kept putting her fist in his mouth??? Like, what??? If I had a nickel for every time he’d put her fist in his mouth to show her he could fit it in, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it even happened.

This was an enjoyable read. The family dynamics of the Taylor’s household. Tara and Ethan were a great couple especially when it came to caring for Ethan’s son, I felt that’s why annoying Lindsay was “trying” to creating issues for them.
This book was nothing short of amazing. I enjoyed reading every chapter. Job well done Evelyn Sola

OH MY GOD! I LOVED THIS BOOK SOO MUCHH!!
Tropes: single dad, mild enemies to lovers (since he wanted her from the beginning)so more like hate to lovers, age gap (even though it's not a big deal in the book)

I loved every single second of it. Their banter was amazing. It reminded me of Josh and Jules from Twisted Hate by Ana Huang. And it wasn't even just their relationship that I loved. I loved how she was with his son, how close she was with her family, how she and her siblings call her stepmom 'the evil one' (even though they consider her their real mom and she's so good to them), his relationship with his employee, and how they become their own family.

This book is about Tara and Ethan. Tara is meant to take over her father's company, until her father sells his company to Ethan. Because of this she immediately hates Ethan, and Ethan thinks she is a spoiled brat. Despite all of that, Ethan wanted her from the second her laid his eyes on her. And during the transition of selling the company, she refuses to be cordial, and then he doesn't put up with her attitude and basically tells on her to her father. Then he inserts himself into her life to basically force them to spend time together, and everything changes the instant she meets his son. She begins to see him in a new light. One day, they decide to have one night together and never see each other again. One night turns into one weekend, and then they don't see each other for two weeks until he relents and goes back to her and tells her he misses her. Throughout their relationship, their banter persists even though they fall desperately in love with each other. She falls for his asshole personality, and he fall for her bratty and stubborn personality. They instantly become a little family, and I LOVE it so MUCH. And there's a moment in the epilogue where his son (Vincent) called Tara something, and OH MY GOSH, I quite literally screamed for joy!! It was so full circle, I LOVED IT!!

This book revolves around their relationship and there's no other plot other than Ethan's ex-wife tries to worm her way back into his life romantically. And goodness, Tara goes through A LOT where his ex-wife is concerned. Although, through all of it she is such a baddie and does not put up with her and her attitude. Towards the end of the book, the set up a couple that comes out in another book in this series.

Favorite quotes/scenes:

-"And for the record, I'd rather drink rat poison than have lunch with you." (Tara)
"I'd rather you drink rat poison than have lunch with me." (Ethan)

-"To what do I owe the honor, Ms. Taylor? Will you be joining me for lunch?"
"Rat poison, remember?"
"How could I forget? I can send Hunter out for some."

-"I'm like a drowning man who was just given a life raft. She's that first burst of air after almost drowning."

-"What's so funny?"
"You. That's such a change from the first day we met, remember? Miss 'I'd rather drink rat poison' than have lunch with you."
"Ugh. You were such an ogre. A cute ogre, though. With a very nice ass."
"You checked out my ass?"
"I did. Which made me hate you even more."
"Oh, you poor princess. I can imagine how falling in love with me at first sight might have been traumatizing for you."

-"Just so you know, I'm ready to become Mr. Tara at any time."
"You'd be so lucky, wouldn't you? As if I would ever marry an ogre."

-"God, you're so perfect. I love you so much."
"I love you too. Shut up and kiss me, ogre."
"Mmhmm, whatever my spoiled princess wants. And we're definitely serving rat poison at the wedding."

I loved this story so much. Both Tara and Ethan were hilarious and their chemistry was off the charts. I know it’s a different dynamics when kids are involved but the baby mama Lindsay was crazy. I think she should have had more repercussions happen to her for all the meddling and pettiness. I absolutely loved Aunt Bernie. Gotta enjoy that aunt that does not care and tells it how it is with some sexual innuendos.

no. this book is just a no. what a waste of time and paper. it feels like the black woman is being written by a white woman. the back and forth between ethan and tara was so cute until it wasn’t. her swearing up and down that she isn’t spoilt when we is. then using race to her “advantage” when she is arguing with him about the job he offered her… get a fucking grip. if u don’t like the job mate with the same credentials go get urself a new job then tf. the smut was shit. i got bored. let’s talk about vinnie tho. i love that kid. what is it with mediocre books but the children being the best parts? i love bernice. she’s too funny 😭 they said i love you soooooooo soon. all they do is fuck, have dinner, hang out with vinnie, and sleep. what kind of LOVING relationship is that. what do they do for fun? fave colour? we know absolutely nothing. they met three months ago. chill. hunter is amazing. the book was also so repetitive like BRUH WE GET THAT YOU AND LINDSAY NEVER HAD A GOOD RELATIONSHIP AND BLAH BLAH BLAH OH MY GODDDDDDD! shut uppppp. we also never get a good description of what the characters look like. I understand that Tara is black but does she have curly hair? how tall is she? How tall is Ethan? I know he’s got blue eyes but does he have a beard? does he not? i need more. OMG THERE IS A MISTAKE IN THE BOOK IN CHAPTER 35! it’s tara’s POV but it says ethan as a heading omg. the way he tried to slide in that his dad would have hated her because he was racist💀 she could have lived without u telling her that. he could have just lied. the misogyny in this book is so gross. wtf. “i don’t make the bed, cook, clean, shop. i get someone to do it all for me. or you could do it” is what ethan basically says. he also constantly shushes her and never lets her finish her point. ew. is the author or crack or something? i feel like i’m loosing brain cells reading this book. he just proposed to her after bringing up the fact that he wanted to have a child with her the NIGHT BEFORE she said NO TO BOTH THINGS BECAUSE SHE ISN’T READY AND HE JUST DOESNT LISTEN TO HER????? WTF!!! don’t you just love it when BLACK authors white bwwm romances and the black girl just HAS to endure the s/o’s racist family 😍😍😍😍😍 fuck this book and fuck this author. i would read the second book with vickie but i wouldn’t wanna be disappointed.

Nuspėjamas. Tradicinis enemies to lovers. Didelis amžiaus skirtumas. Daug 🔥🔥🔥.

DNF - Spoilers

The Heroine, Tara, is annoying and a total brat. I am not in the mood to read anymore. Ethan's company purchased Tara's father's company and at the first meeting Tara was extremely rude and disrespectful to Ethan. I can see if Ethan was rude to her first, but all he did was show up, say hi and shake her hand. Then during the meeting they were having a stare off and when Ethan got up to introduce himself to the Company, Tara started talking during his speech. So not only is she a Brat she is unprofessional. Even after she went to the store and had breakfast with Ethan and saw how good he is as a Father, Tara continues to be rude and spit insults at him. I was so over her behavior, I couldn't finish it. I see why Michael didn't propose to her and decided to move to Denver. Who would want to marry that? Tara needs to grow up and get over herself. I've read reviews that show this book does get better so I won't say I don't recommend this book, but just know you will be annoyed. I stopped at 13%. Maybe I will return to read it and update this review, but right now I'm not in the mood to hear about a HEA for Tara.

3 stars because i adored the side characters, and if the main characters had half their personality this would’ve been an enjoyable read, but no. The main characters were so judgemental with god complexes and felt like the world revolves around them. The author just completely missed the beat she was going for and instead of making grumpy sunshine she gave us an arrogant misogynistic a-hole and girl who played way too much into the angry aggressive black girl role that i am so tired of seeing forced upon black women in media especially books written by black women.

but the side characters were everything, tara’s parents and siblings 💕 vincent 💕 hunter 💕 honestly kept reading for them.

4.99 stars (hehe)

there were things about this book i did not like. the mmc was a little to heavy with the misogyny jokes (i know it was jokes but he was too comfortable making them), and the dynamic between the tara and her siblings bordered corny a lot.

these dislikes aside, i loved this book so much oh MY GOD. dare i say it’s my favorite single dad book i’ve ever read????

the only thing i’d truly change is tara should’ve laid the baby mama on her ass at least one good time. two slaps wasn’t enough for me, i needed blood drawn

A lot of ex drama. Probably half of the book is that.
The book is long and half of it ow drama? No thanks. Besides that, nothing that adds something to the story really happens.

Evelyn Sola just keeps getting better and better with every book, every character, and every turn of the page!

I love a good enemies to lovers stories, and this book takes it next level. Tara and Ethan are fit perfectly together... once they get over themselves, of course.

Single father, Ethan, stops at nothing to make sure his little boy knows he is the top priority, and Tara wants nothing more than to do her father proud. They are both strong, ambitious and fiercely loyal to those they care for and love. Together, they are perfection.

I can't wait to see what Evelyn has in store for us next!

2 words - HOT DAMN!!!!

Talk about a fabulous read. The way this book sucked me in from the very first page was such a thrill. It was intense, hot and steamy, funny and sweet and made my heart sing.

I absolutely loved Tara. The way she carried herself and wouldn't take shit from no one. She was fierce and loyal and had a huge heart. Ethan has a few things going for him - especially his name which is my favorite. His love for his son. But mostly the way he loved Tara. Their relationship started up on a strange note but ended up being one for the books.

This is my second book by this author and I got to say I'm a huge fan already.

Great read 😁

This was the first book that I've read written by Evelyn Sola. This is the first book of a 3 book series. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover. This book was very 🥵🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️. I had so many emotions going on as well. This book was beautifully written and I enjoyed every word of it. Do yourselves a favor and read the damn book. Onward too the next one.
